HDR Photos

Hello there!!
Is there someone who know how to shot HDR (high dynamic range) Photos?
On the recent music event of apple, Steve jobs talked about this but I didn't find how to do that at the iPod touch manual.
Hope to get your response as soon as possible!
Best regards!
Atar

Try an app called "HDR Fusion." I have it installed on my iPod Touch 4G.
SuperCamera also has an HDR filter, but it is not that good.

  • How do I export HDR photos made on Photoshop CS5 onto a flashdrive so I can use them on a window machine for commercial purposes.  Adobe support claims it is a apple problem not theirs.  PS the other window machine doesn't have Photoshop cs 5 installed?

Hi, How do I export HDR photos made on a macpro with photoshop cs5 onto a flashdrive so they can be imported correctly into a windows machine that doesn't have photoshop installed on it?  Already exported to a HP flashdrive but they do not even show up on a windows machine. Need that capabillity since this is for commercial printing.  My wife's mac laptop only shows 3/4 of the picture the rest is grayed out.  Adobe support claims it is a Apple problem.  Love the finger pointing and hold me blameless atitude on their part.  Told them creating a picture should be like gas that can be used in anybody's car, just not their Adobe equipped ferrari.  Do I need to convert the file struture so it can be read by the window machine? How would I do that ?  Any comments appreciated. Doug

I certainly wouldn't expect to read native PS CS5 files with all features intact and supported on a machine that doesn't have CS5 installed. Try saving the files as flattened (no layers) TIFFs before moving them to the flash drive and trying to open them on the Windoze box.

  • HDR photos not showing in moments gallery and not sharing correctly via iCloud

I have an iPhone 4s with ios 7 and when I take hdr photos that are not showing in my moments collection. They have the thumbnail but not the full image when I select the image and when I go to share them to icloud they don't import into iphoto either. Also when I take square photos in ios7 the photo effects arn't applied when I import them into iphoto. Thanks for any help!

    Soft reset did the trick

  • HDR Photo Merge deghosting

When using Lightroom's HDR Photo Merge, is there any way of zooming in to 100%, to view the effect that deghosting is having on the HDR image ?.

Slightly different issue, but wondered if you might have feedback on a ghosting issue I'm seeing. I thought I'd quickly experiment with HDR merge as a way to remove ghosts as opposed to directly creating an HDR composite. That is, all exposures (I tried the merge with two and also three exposures) were identical (focus, ISO, ap, speed) and I was hoping that the merged result would simply remove the couple obvious ghosts (two people in completely different areas of the frame and then also slightly moving clouds). However, none of the de-ghosting options were able to completely eliminate these ghosts.
If the images are all same exposure (i.e. identical) I'm surprised the LR Merge to HDR didn't fail with an error message. I just tried LR Mege to HDR with three copies of the same file renamed (1, 2, 3) and there was no error message! Clearly it's failing to deghost the "same exposure" image files, but it's not telling you either!
I just tested PS HDR Pro with the three "same exposure" images and got this popup. Unless you assign a different EV to each image the OK button is disabled. LR Merge to HDR is simply playing dumb and goes right ahead and then does nothing!
PS image stacks with layer masks is what you need to deghost these image files. I doubt this can be done fully "automatically." There has to be human intervention to decide what's a ghost and what's not.

  • So HDR photo mode only works with flash off?

I noticed that when you turn the HDR photo mode on, the flash changes to off. If you try to put the flash back to on or auto, it turns HDR off.

Yes, that's default setting for HDR:
On iPhone 4, you can turn on HDR to take HDR (high dynamic range) photos. HDR blends the best parts of three separate exposures into a single photo. For best results, iPhone and the subject should be stationary.
Turn HDR on or off: Tap the HDR button at the top of the screen. The button indicates whether HDR is on or off. (HDR is off by default.)
Note: When HDR is on, the flash is turned off.

  • HDR photos not combined correctly

As you may know, when you take a photo with HDR enabled, the iPhone takes 3 photos in rapid succession. It takes one that's in normal exposure, one that's underexposed and one that's overexposed. The iPhone combines these 3 photos with its own algorithm to produce an HDR photo.
Now, when I take an HDR photo with my iPhone 4 running iOS 5.1.1, most of the time, there aren't any problems. However, the HDR photos sometimes aren't combined correctly, especially when taking photos of grids, straight lines, etc.
(The size of the photos below were reduced. Annotation was added and GPS information was removed. No other changes were made.)
Do you have this issue as well or do you think it's a software issue which will be fixed in iOS 6? Thanks in advance.

Sorry. Can't see any of the attachments.

  • HDR photos with iPhone 4: freezes in saving mode

Ever since I updated my iPhone 4, now when I take an HDR photo, it freezes on the "Saving HDR..." screen.  I let it sit to save but after several minutes I just have to click the home button to get out of the photo and continue using my phone.  The photo never does get saved.
The always happens with the first HDR pic I attempt to take... but after I close out and go back into Camera, it will sometimes let me take HDR again (but also sometimes it freezes again).
    Can anyone help with this?

I have the same problem, have you found any solution? even when i see pictures taken on photos app they look blurry

  • Very bad HDR photo.

Hello. Why HDR mode the photos are always blurry? Why, compared to Sony xperia M2, in Z1 Compact the minimum dynamic range? Simple: Z1 and M2 HDR.rar and HDR photo (Z1 compact).
In Xperia m2 much better result on HDR Mode. Fix it, please!
    P.S Sorry for my english.

When you use HDR it's more important that you hold the phone still and that what you're shooting doesn't move. HDR takes two pictures at different settings which are then combined. If you move the camera just a little while the phone is taking the two pictures or if something moves you will get a blurry picture.
The cameras have used different settings when you took the pictures. Not sure why that is but to get a more similar result you can try the manual mode and manually adjust the settings.

  • Lightroom can't display HDR photos

I have five photos in light room, I want to make it a HDR photo. When I highlight all five photo, right click merge to HDR in Photoshop. When photoshop is done and I save it. Everything is fine till I try to open the photo. Lightroom and windows gallery can not show the image. Is says the image is corrupt or unsupported.

Hey I'm just copying what Adobe writes in their release notes ;-)
Jeff, I understood that the limit is either 65Kpixels on a side or 512MP. You cannot have an image of 65kpixels*8kpixels for example as that is more than 512MP and you cannot have 70kpixels*7kpixels, even though that would be below the 512MP limit. I could be wrong though and you probably know more about this than I do. You need a superbeefy machine though to be able to work with files like that without paging like nuts and having to be quite patient. The largest stitched images I have made are around 100MP 16 bits and those are quite taxing on my machines (a quad-core macPro with 10gigs is my most beefy one), so I can only shudder at the prospect of 512 MP images.

  • HDR photo importing problem

I create HDR photos in photmatix pro, I save the images as jpg or tif. I Import the jpg or tif to Iphoto then delete original images as they show in the Iphoto library. Iphoto will not open the imported image, I can click on the thumbnail image but the alert says original image can't be found. What is the problem? Seems ok when I import raw files directly to Iphoto, just when I made an HDR image.

I can click on the thumbnail image but the alert says original image can't be found.
Are you running a Managed or a Referenced Library?
A Managed Library, is the default setting, and iPhoto copies files into the iPhoto Library when Importing. The files are then stored in the Library package
A Referenced Library is when iPhoto is NOT copying the files into the iPhoto Library when importing because you made a change at iPhoto -> Preferences -> Advanced. (You unchecked the option to copy files into the Library on import) The files are then stored where ever you put them and not in the Library package. In this scenario you are responsible for the File Management.

  • Create HDR-Photo in Photoshop CS6

The process of creating HDR-photo in Photoshop is not started when I send Canon Camera Raw photos (.CR) (3 pieces) by means of Bridge-function "tools / photoshop / create HDR pro" to photoshop; photoshop itsself
open automatically - however, process is not started.

What do you do after making the changes?  Either opening the edited RAW file, or clicking on  Done will create the sidecar (XMP) files which contain all of the information about your adjustments.  The next time you open that RAW file, it will look for an XMP file with the same file name, and use the information contained in it.
If you delete the XMP files, it's back to square one!
You deleted them to save space?  A typical XMP file is probably less than 10kb, which is a tiny fraction of the size of the RAW file.  You need to rethink your strategy.

  • Hdr photos not aligning with original non-hdr image iPhone6

Why are hdr photos not aligning with their original non-hdr source image in iPhone6? I've found that when I overlay the two in gimp, there's a misalignment of several pixels. Previously with my iPhone4 on iOS7 both the original image & its corresponding hdr version always aligned perfectly so I could easily make adjustments between the two versions to create the final image I wanted. Has anyone else noticed this discrepancy?

    I figured out the answer.
It turns out I had accidentally enabled the 'chrome' filter on all of the pictures I was taking. The icon with the 3 overlapping circles at the bottom right in the camera app were in color, indicating I had a filter on. Another thing I was not aware of oops.
That is why my pics all seemed to have extra contrast. The chrome filter was close enough to the original that I thought it was actually HDR, being unfamilar with how HDR should look.
If I had set something like black and white as a filter I would have realized what was going on sooner.
I also figured out that HDR was actually saving both of my photos. Scanning through my library I found a few duplicate images. As mentioned above, the HDR version has a little rectangular icon with 'HDR'.
Sorry for the confusion and I hope this helped somebody!
    Thank you for your courage

  • Can anyone recommend some software for creating HDR photos?

I would like to try to create some HDR images but this requires software to merge the bracketed shots into one. Could anyone recommend an application that will do this? Also, any online tutorials or training resources would be useful.
    thanks

When you ask about software for creating HDR photos? a big question is whether you want special-effects-like imagery HDR or whether you want to realistically simply improve dynamic range of otherwise well-shot images.
The best way to improve the dynamic range of otherwise well-shot images is to buy a Nikon D3. For those without the $5k for a D3, Photoshop layers are an excellent solution. You make duplicate lightening screen or darkening multiply layers and erase and adjust opacity of various layer parts to achieve what you want.
Photomatrix is probably the most popular for special-effects-like HDR imagery. There is a good thread among Photoshop pros discussing HDR, with examples, at

  • HDR Photos on iPod Touch

Does anyone now if the iPod Touch 4g is going to receive HDR photos in any future updates?

  • Auto HDR: How do I find original non-HDR photo?

    Hi,
I have always turned HDR off by default, but with iOS 7.1 I have been trying out the Auto HDR feature and I'm pretty unfamiliar with it.
It should be saving two versions of my photos. Is there a way to find them? In my camera roll, I only see one photo. I am guessing it is the HDR photo as there is a lot of contrast.
However If I open these up in iPhoto, they all appear as edited and I can choose the original image.
Is there another way to see the original vs HDR photo?
Also, some pictures, but not all, have a small 'rectangular' icon with HDR text in them. What does this mean?
    Thank you!
