HDR Pro image disappears at the onset
From Bridge: Merge to HDR Pro... the (3) images go through the process and when it's all over the resulting image vanishes before it's displayed.
That sounds a bit like a bug we've been trying to track down -- resetting the Photoshop preferences usually solves it.

Merge to HDR pro has disappeared
I am running photoshop CS5 and Lightroom 4 on an iMac with OS X 10.6. I recently tried a trial version of Nik Software's HDR Efex Pro. When my 30 day trial expired, I uninstalled it. I haven't purchased a copy yet, but in the meantime I wanted to process an HDR image and tried using CS5 but the "merge to hdr pro" item was suddenly missing from the "automate" menu where it is normally located. What did I break and how do I fix it? Thanks.
Attached is screen shot. What happens is I go to File/Automate/Merge to HDR Pro, then select my 3 images, which are flattened psd files (I have tried tifs and jogs too), hit OK, it processes them, but instead of the image appearing, I get this black image. You can see my original images at bottom... jpegs too),

Image disappears in the RH after saving and reopening the report
Hi,
I am using CR2008.
I have created several reports with images but didn't get this type of problem.
I inserted image in the Report header and everything is fine, after save and exit if I reopen the report there is no image. It disappeared. I tried all possible ways with bmp, jpg formats of image and re-size the image. Still same problem. There is a blank OLE Object in the Report header when I reopen it. Is there any solution for this issue?
Thanks!
Edited by: Krishna.R on Jun 10, 2011 10:02 PMHi
Thanks for the reply. My problem is solved. The image file is too big in size and I resized it in crystal, that's why it behaved wiered. I reduced the size of the image outdide the crystal report in mspaint and then copied to crystal. It worked. -
I am using LR4 and edit/merge to HDR Pro in CS5. The images appear in CS5 as the processing is going on but then it just terminates and the images disappear from CS5. This is happening on multiple sets of images not just one set. I don't know if this is part of the problem but I also get a message as the process is starting on LR that I may need Camera Raw Version 7 but I can't find that anywhere. Any idea what's going on?
ThanksHi Bill,
Answers to your questions beow ...
The one thing that I did not see was your HDD setup, and especially how you have your HDD's allocated, with such things as Scratch Disks, etc. That might be useful knowledge.
- Just use a single 1TB hard disk, 516GB used and 398GB free.
With Win7-64, the 8GB RAM is a bit light, as Win7-64 is a RAM hog, and Scratch Disks will most likely come into play, and especially with HDR.
- Can't do much about that as 8GB is the MAX on the motherboard. But again don't have any problems in any other areas and if I do Tone Mapping from the Image -> Adjustments -> HDR Tone Mapping ... menu there aren't any issues.
Now, if you do NOT switch out of PS, while doing an HDR Merge, does it then complete, i.e. is it only when it loses focus, that it hangs?
- Yes, as long as I don't switch out at all.
What are your PS Memory and Cache settings?
- Available RAM 7230, Let Photoshop Use: 4338 (60%) (This is the default setting Photoshop chose)
- Cache Settings, again default: Cache Levels: 4, Cache Tile Size: 1024K.
Do you have any active-scanning anti-virus, anti-malware, anti-anything running?
- Yes, Microsoft Security Essentials
Is Windows Indexing ON - though with Win7-64, it has become much less of a problem, than with older OS's?
- Yes Indexing is on, makes no difference if I turn it off.
What are the Image Size of the HDR Images?
- As they are from Canon 5D Mk II (ProPhoto RBG, 16 bit, 5616 x 3744 (~21MP) and 300 bit/in) they will open anywhere up to 120MB in TIFF or PSD.
I am not sure but it seems a little similar to the issue with the CA sliders in LR4 Beta when we reverted back to Process 2010 after upgrading to PV2012 unless there is a memory leak somewhere. Again if I use NIK Software HDR Efex pro I don't seem to have any of these issue - (just aligment and ghosting ).
Obviously I have a work around by simply not leaving the HDR Merge window before completing the process, just inconvenient.

Merge to HDR Pro - how to make it work?
The 'Automate -> Merge to HDR' feature worked fine during the first few weeks of my Ps CS5 trial but now doesn't work. Photoshop gets through the Merge to HDR Pro dialog but throws the attached error when returning to Ps.
If Merge to HDR Pro is chosen on DNG images from Lightroom 2.7 or Bridge CS5, Photoshop again gets through the Merge to HDR Pro dialog but when creating the HDR image and returning to Ps seems to throw it away with no resulting error. Photoshop just stares blankly with no image open.
I experienced the same error with CS4 and was excited when the Merge to HDR Pro feature on my CS5 trial worked fine, yet with 5 days left in the trial the HDR feature now refuses to cooperate. It previously was working OK from the Automate menu, from Lr 2.7, and from Bridge. What exactly I did to upset Photohop is a mystery.
I've tried resetting preferences and removing all plugins and extenstions to no avail. Any ideas on how to make Merge to HDR Pro functional? There has been a long and continuous thread regarding CS5 having problems when one tries to save images that have been combined in Merge to HDR Pro. I have exactly the same problem. I have been shooting 3 images bracketed -1, 0, +1 or -2, 0, +2. When I select 3 images in Bridge. Go to Tools>Ph otoshop>Merge to HDR Pro the computer does its work and produces an image of a combination of the 3. I can see the image, and in the Layers Panel I see 3 Layers plus one Layer that is entitled Merge to HDR Pro(layer is devoid of image. When I try to Save As Photoshop freezes up. I have 11 Screenshots to illustrate. Also Select 3 in BridgeI have tried many different sets of images. CS5 "Merge to HDR Pro" crashes Photoshop
I just downloaded the trial version of Photoshop CS5. The first action I tried to do was to create an HDR Pro image. I selected three bracketed images, going from Bridge, and after selecting Tools and then Photoshop, Merge to HDR Pro, it started to create the HDR image, but then crashed. I have tried this many times, going from Photoshop/Automate/Merge to HDR Pro, and from Bridge and Mini-Bridge. Each time it crashes.
After reading of others having a similar issue, I then downloaded the 12.0.1 update. And still the program crashes every time I try to do the Merge to HDR. It also crashes with some other actions. I have also had Bridge CS5 crash on me a few times.
I did also try uninstalling the CS5 upgrade then re-installing it. No change.
I did not do any actions at all as regard plug-ins or any other task related to the new CS5 upgrade. I only upgraded then updated to 12.0.1
Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I should do? I thought of uninstalling CS4 on my computer, but hesitate to do that, since the CS5 is not working, I still need to use photoshop on a daily basis.
Please help?
Thanks!Ok. I did the actions again, got the crash, and this time I clicked on "report". Then I clicked "details" and got an extensive detailed report. Is this what you asked for, Chris? How do I get it to you? Attach it here? It is long, but I will try.

Merge to HDR Pro: What you see is not what you get?
I am using PSCC on an iMac (Mavericks). When I bring bracketed shots into PSCC's Merge to HDR Pro, I can work the settings and/or presets to get an image that looks OK. However, when I exit from HDR Pro by clicking OK, the image displayed in PSCC is very different from what I was just looking at in HDR Pro. The screenshots here show just one example, working in 16-bit mode. Other images show even greater differences. Working in 32-bit mode makes it even worse. This did not use to happen in my earlier versions of PS (perpetual license). Am I missing something or doing something wrong?

Image in PSCC after clicking OK:Trevor.Dennis wrote:
Yes I realised that. There are now quite a few applications for processing HDR, and IMO Photomatix has always been the best of them, and certainly did a better job than Photoshop. My point was that the old 'Merge to HDR Pro' workflow is now redundant if you have Photoshop CC, and that using Camera RAW as outlined by Julianne Kost, has suddenly leapfrogged all the competition by an order of magnitude.
So I strongly urge you to take Mr Prengel's advice. Output the image in 32bit, and use ACR to process it. Did you watch the video tutorial I linked to?
You certainly shouldn't get all pixel-peeper about how the 32bit image looks on your screen. It is not possible to show the tonal width of a 32 bit image on a computer screen, so you are seeing a 'representation' of how it might look after processing.
FWIIW I have taught HDR (and Photoshop) to some of the best photographers in the world at two PSNZ National Conventions back in 2010 and 2011, so I kind of have strong opinions about it. Not that I use it excessively, but it is a very handy tool to keep in your photographic skills repertoire.
Trevor,
I am sorry if I misunderstood your post. I am actually using the same workflow as Julianne Kost in her video (which I had watched prior to posting here). And, as I posted above, I do agree with Mr. Prengel that I should just take the 32 bit image into Camera Raw and do the toning there. As a matter of fact, that is what I have been doing in Photoshop CC (sending the pictures from Lightroom, same as Julianne Kosts does), and I can do a very good job, if I say so myself.
So the question I had was merely one of puzzlement at seeing the difference between the image just before exiting HDR Pro and what shows up in Camera Raw. In the examples I provided, and in many other cases, it clearly went beyond pixel-peeping: they were two very different images. But I think I understand now why this is, which you kindly pointed out: it is not possible to show the tonal width of a 32 bit image on a computer monitor. I had not considered that and I thank you for mentioning it.
It may be that in some cases (as in Julianne Kosts's video) the representation in HDR Pro is actually pretty close to the initial view in Camera Raw, but in other cases (my examples) it is not. Not really an issue, I agree. -
When I make adjustments with HDR Pro then save it - the saved image has a totally different look - colors way more saturated and quite different color tones. Anyone else have this problem?
Before Save in HDR Pro and after save - nothing was changed by me - but the pic sure has!
Macbook Pro OSX 10.6.4the
merged HDR in passed back to Photoshop that the colors change inappropriately.
If Ps is not displaying an image faithfully, then Ps is applying/assigning/assuming the wrong profile to the image (and/or the OS is using a bad monitor profile).
Ps, Edit> Assign Profile: (the correct profile) will snap the true color back (or the OS is using a bad monitor profile).
+++++++
A good test to troubleshoot this problem would be to open the tagged suspect file in Ps, and then drag its file icon into Safari and compare the Ps preview and Safari preview side by side — they should "match" color/brightness in theory.
The poster may do well to review what Chris Cox wrote about how Ps handles HDR color and get his profiles in order...
CCOX:
Photoshop IS assigning the working space profile...not the profiles from the images you passed in
[I] have to wonder WHY Ps allows this to happen (ignore the embedded profile, Assign Working RGB) without a warning? -
Images disappearing in photoshop cs2...
Hello Folks,
I seem to have a problem brewing in Photoshop...Lately when I am working in Photoshop, if I have more than one image open at a time and I go to close one of them they all disappear from the screen but they are still open. I have to go to Close All and start over. Also, if I am using the polygon lasso tool, I will be carefully tracing a part of an image and suddenly the image disappears, while the window is still there, it turns grey and all I can see is the lasso tool traces I have made but I then have to start all over because I have to get the image back and the only way to do this is to end the lasso session and start over...The image will come back at some point after I reset the tool but I have to start all over again...I have updated everything, tried to optimize Photoshop performance but nothing seems to work...I am using windows media center edition sp 3 and have 1.87 gb of RAM. I can't think of anything that corresponds to when this started happening, I didn't change much except I do always do windows updates but I choose which ones I want to install and what is junk...Unfortunately the scratch disk is the same drive as the program is on but at the moment I don't have an alternative, could this cause this situation? Should I invest in a drive just for the scratch disk? Or, if anyone has any other suggestions I am willing to try anything...This program is important to my work and I use it a lot...
Thank you,
JenniferOff hand it sounds like video driver or low ram issue. Examples:Windows did an update that included a faulty video driver (which isn't very likely) or you install another program that wants to run in the background. The former usually require you to enable the download of hardware drivers for the update, the latter well even a virus could do that.
Goto your video card makers website and get the latest driver that they recommend and then run msconfig (Start>run>msconfig) disable all the startup programs and see if that helps, when you are done, make sure you reenable the programs. Each time you use msconfig it will require a restart.
If that don't help, next is check the hard drive making sure you have enough room, defraged and no errors.
Next is to run a test on the ram. You should find one at downloads.com or take it to who ever services your system and let them do it. Mind you they will charge for time checking and cost of replacing the ram or HD is needed. This is definately a last step effort. Try to do as much as you can first to save some money, if if you are unconfortable doing this then the money is well spent. -
Indesign to swf. Images disappear
I created an interactive InDesign file. When I exported it to a swf file, several of my images disappeared. The images had been embedded in the InDesign file, but went away when I exported the file. There is a hyperlink, and that still works, but the image is gone. Does anyone know why this happened and/or how to fix it?
I have tried that too and it didn´t work out. Attribute that controls where you open your hyperlink is called Target. And InDesign doesn´t let you define it. Let´s hope some improvement with this in future...

Images disappear after being selected from galleries
I created an app in Project Siena that serves as a product catalog for our Remote Sales team to use on their tablets. The app relies heavily on image galleries for navigation. Everything works fine, except that as you navigate back and forth
through the app pages, images that have been previously selected start disappearing from their gallery upon returning to their page. Anyone seen this happen before?Hi Bruton, thanks for the quick response. I'll try and break this down as simply as possible:
-Built on Excel tables containing links to images. The images are located in a mapped network drive that is synced offline.
-All images appear fine at first as you navigate through the app; then, as you go back to the Index page and go back through the same pages, you start to see previously selected images disappear from the gallery. All the other images show up fine in
the gallery. Only the ones that have been selected previously disappear. If you close that app and re-open it, voila, all images display without issue.
-This same phenomena occurs while running the app in Project Siena; when the images start disappearing, I will update the data sources, and voila, the missing images come back.
-There are four basic pages that each contain an image gallery: Index, Brand, Group, and Product
-You drill down by selecting a brand, then a product Group, then an individual product (hence the 4 pages)
-Note: some "brands" that are chosen take you directly to the Product page, bypassing the Group page
-The image galleries on each page are used for the navigation (drilling-down to next level)
-When you tap an image from the gallery, you launch the next page... below is the navigation code for the image gallery on the Brands page. (I used "UpdateIf" function w/ 1=1 so it's always true, because I wasn't sure how to use other "Update"
functions.)

First of all sorry about my bad English (my nation is German), but I hope you'll understand my problem:
I installed Photoshop CS6 in 64 Bit and 32 Bit. In both versions I get an error using the automatic function "HDR pro". I used the funtion long time ago with Photoshop C5.
Photoshop stops after copying the three pictures in e new document with three layers and shows an error-message (in Gernan: "Der Befehl 'unbekannt' ist momentan nicht verfügbar'")
(in English: The command 'unknown' ist not available at the moment).
What I tried:
- I installed available updates
- I searched on Googles
- I resetted als pref-Files
- I searched in Adobe support-forum
Is there any solution?I'm sorry to report this is not possible in the current releases of 12.0 or 12.0.1
We've had multiple requests around this and are working on possible solutions.

Site Template Images Disappearing on Blog
Hello,
I have just added a blog to our company website: CK Courier Solutions Company Blog
I am experiencing an issue with images from the site template disappearing when you click on the blog entry that is listed. Once you go in to the blog post, a couple of images disappear from the template i.e. the company logo (top left) and a membership logo (bottom right). As these images are on the site template and are visible in all other pages of the site, I have no idea why this is happening?
Thanks. This is because when you go through to a blog post detail page it's going deeper into the directory structure, but your image sources are referencing only a directory level up from the current page location - so now that we are deeper in the directory structure the image links are not correct.
It's a simple fix of making your image links alway return right back to the root directory.
So currently you have this:
src="../Images/logo.png"
(the '../' says to go one folder level up to find the image)
Just change it to:
src="/Images/logo.png"
(the '/' says to go right back to the root level to find the image) -
Image disappears after effect in HTML5
Hi
I am using Captivate 7.0.1.237.
I have set up my project as follows:
Slide 1:
1. I have an image that has an effect of Left to Right. When the project is launched, the effect is paused using an adv. action. Got a variable, say Var_1, in an adv. action to pause it: On enter, if the variable is 0, then pause.)
2. I have a button to generate a random number. This number is assigned as the new value of Var_1.
Slide 2:
Have an On Enter adv. action: If the value of Var_1 is "n", then pause.
Though I have not explicitly mentioned, the project moves to next slide if the Var_1 value is not "n".
Now, this is working fine in SWF output. However, in the HTML5 output, when the value is "n", the slide pauses but the image disappears after the animation effect.
Any idea why?
Thanks in advance.
SreekanthThe current frame number when the action runs and when slide pauses as per the actions is same in both SWF asnd HTML5 outputs. Here are the screenshots. The yellow colored object is the one that has the effect. 181 is the frame number.
SWF Output
HTML5 Output. Notice the yellow object missing
I noticed one interesting difference in starting frame of SWF and HTML5 outputs. When I launch the preview the SWF (using F12), the current frame number is 0, whereas the first frame in HTML5 preview (using F11) is 1. I am not sure if that has got anything to do with the issue I am facing.
