HDTV 1366 x 768 - not a standard option?

I have found dozens of references to this apparently common HDTV resolution, but the mini doesn't provide this as a standard resolution. When will this be added?
Steve opened the flood gates to people hooking these mini's up to HDTVs at introduction. This would go a long way to making this a reality. DisplayConfigX isn't an option for those of us that are risk adverse.
It's a mess to run with overscan enabled, because the OS X interface is particularly not overscan friendly (too much useful stuff on screen edges). It would be okay if DVD player automatically turned this on in full screen mode. But it's still unfortunate to run an LCD TV in something other than it's native resolution.

I think the settings that are needed may need to be tweaked for each individual display/TV, but I'm not sure. I have a 32" Syntax Olevia. Here are the settings I used:
From the SwitchResX Control Panel, in the Resolutions section, select the "Custom" Tab.
Start a new one (plus button)
Select Custom (not Scaled) at the top.
Select Use simplified Settings: GTF at the bottom.
Fill in the numbers:
- Active: Horizontal=1366, Vertical=768
- Scan Rate: Vertical=60
Hit Tab and some grayed out numbers will change.
Select OK to leave that window.
Select Apply
Most likely you need to restart your computer at this point and upon restart your new resolution should be available to be selected as a valid resolution.

  • TS1845 i am running windows xp and have tried at a resolution higher than 1024 x 768 but i tunes is still not displaying all options fully on my pc?

I am running windows xp and have tried chnaging the resolution to 1024 x 768 or highre and am still finding that not all the options on i tunes are displayed on my pc. I have also tried unistalling and reinstalling the software but to no avail. At present all the left hand tabs are missing and the info and summary tabs are missing which means i cannot sync etc

You'll probably have more luck getting help if you ask in the iTunes for Windows forum rather than here in the iTunes for Mac forum. If, however, you have iTunes 11, many people haven't yet figured out the new default interface in iTunes 11. To get to the iPad information so you can sync, click the iPad button in the header bar at the upper-right:
Or go to the View menu and select "Show Sidebar" and the interface will then look substantially like it did in earlier versions. If you don't see the menus, go to the small icon with the arrow at the extreme upper left and select "Show Menu Bar":

  • X1 - release date? display option 1366 x 768

News of the X1 is popping up in several places... and it looks interesting, but may miss the target.
Question - when will it be availabe in North America?
    Display comments
    - The display is a CRITICAL component for many buyers
    - 1366 x 768 is pathetic.  I expect at least 900 pixels of vertical resolution
    - IPS > Gorilla Glass  (iPad, T42, etc)
    - I prefer matte > glossy (luckily thinkpads are usually matte)
    - 300 nits (so I can work outside)
I am not alone.  Many are shopping for an ultraportable with a quality high resolution display (1440x900 or 1920x1080).

    hey oceanus,
for this, i would recommend calling the sales team via the number listed in the link below

  • Thinkpad T430 Display: HD (1366 x 768) vs. HD+ (1600 x 900) Specifics

Hello, and thank you in advance for any help.  As I've researched the Lenovo ThinkPad T430, and it's various configuration options, I've found specific information on the differences between the HD (1366 x 768) display and the HD+ (1600 x 900) display to be rather lacking.  Everything I've read boils down to "go with the HD+ if possible" but I was hoping for more information.  I'd be using the laptop for reading documents and web pages, as well as viewing movies, so I was wondering if more knowledgeable people than I would pipe in with their opinions, especially when it comes to watching movies on the laptop (in a dark room with the laptop at the foot of the bed and using headphones).  Thanks again for your time; I really appreciate it.

    Hi,
I bought my t530i with the HD (1366x768) display. I am absolutely disappointed in it. The viewing angle is horrible, the colors are whitey, pallid, the black color is not black, it is rather dark gray, because the backlight is so strong. I would like to sell it, because it is useless for me, but nobody wants it. I don't know if this applies to the 430 series, so I suggest You to check it out personally, before You buy it.

  • External DVI resolutions (1366 x 768)

Iam thinking about using an HDTV LCD 32" TV as second monitor.
I can not find any informations what Resolutions the GraCa is available at the external DVI port. The LCD TVs usually have
    1366 x 768 Pixel
Is this resolution supported by the Hardware ?
Is there a list , which resolutions are supported by the Hardware ?
(PS I only need Text editing features, no High Resolutions for this, thats why I might not need expensive high resolution displays...)

    yes,
     the new bios (3.10). It supports a lot more resolutions now: 800x600, 1024x768, 1280x768, 1280x800, 1280x1024, 1400x1050, 1440x900, 1680x1050, 1920x1080.
I just seen that post, but I don't see the 1366 x 768 resolutions, is not supported?
do you have a suggestion to fix this problem?
    Thanks in advance

  • 1366 by 768 resolution?

Can I set resolution to 1366 by 768?
I built recently a HTPC and was trying to connect it to my tv. But I was never able to get TV's native resolution. I only was able to get 1360 by 768, which cuts off menus below.
How can I set resolution to 1366 by 768?

A resolution of 1366x768 can be made to work on a Nvidia card with Nvidia's proprietary drivers by copy-pasting the following into /etc/X11/xorg.conf :
    Section "ServerLayout"
    Identifier "Layout0"
    Screen 0 "Screen0" 0 0
    InputDevice "Keyboard0" "CoreKeyboard"
    InputDevice "Mouse0" "CorePointer"
    Option "Xinerama" "0"
    EndSection
    Section "Files"
    EndSection
    Section "InputDevice"
    # generated from default
    Identifier "Mouse0"
    Driver "mouse"
    Option "Protocol" "auto"
    Option "Device" "/dev/psaux"
    Option "Emulate3Buttons" "no"
    Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5"
    EndSection
    Section "InputDevice"
    # generated from default
    Identifier "Keyboard0"
    Driver "kbd"
    EndSection
    Section "Monitor"
    Identifier "Monitor0"
    VendorName "Unknown"
    ModelName "DFP-0"
    HorizSync 28.0 - 67.0
    VertRefresh 50.0 - 75.0
    ModeLine "1366x768" 85.50 1366 1440 1584 1792 768 771 777 795 +hsync +vsync
    Option "DPMS"
    EndSection
    Section "Device"
    Identifier "Device0"
    Driver "nvidia"
    VendorName "NVIDIA Corporation"
    BoardName "ION"
    EndSection
    Section "Screen"
    Identifier "Screen0"
    Device "Device0"
    Monitor "Monitor0"
    DefaultDepth 24
    Option "UseEdidDpi" "FALSE"
    Option "ModeDebug" "true"
    # Option "ExactModeTimingsDVI" "true"
    # Option "ModeValidation" "NoWidthAlignmentCheck, NoDFPNativeResolutionCheck"
    # Option "ModeValidation" "AllowInterlacecModes, NoTotalSizeCheck,AllowNon60HzDFPModes,NoEdidMaxPClkCheck,NoVertRefreshCheck,NoHorizSyncCheck,NoDFPNativeResolutionCheck,NoVesaModes,NoEdidModes,NoXServerModes,NoPredefinedModes,NoMaxSizeCheck,NoVirtualSizeCheck,NoMaxPclkCheck,NoVertRefreshCheck"
Option "ModeValidation" "NoWidthAlignmentCheck, NoDFPNativeResolutionCheck, NoVesaModes, NoEdidModes, NoXServerModes, AllowNonEdidModes, NoPredefinedModes"
    # Option "UseEDID" "False"
    Option "TwinView" "0"
    Option "metamodes" "1366x768 +0+0"
    SubSection "Display"
    Depth 24
    EndSubSection
    EndSection
If this xorg.conf does not work with a VGA cable, it can be fixed by adding to your current xorg.conf the line,
    Option "ModeDebug" "true"
If your xorg.conf is the one from above, it already has this line. Then looking at /var/log/Xorg.0.log for the polarity the monitor expects. It should be something like this:
    [ 1554.700] (II) NVIDIA(GPU-0): H/V Polarity : +/+
Then editing the modeline with the polarity. For example, if the polarity the monitor expects is,
    H/V Polarity : -/+
You would change this part of the modeline:
    +hsync +vsync
    into:
    -hsync +vsync

    Hi jenette,
If you are having issues using an HDTV via HDMI as an external display to your MacBook Air, you may find the following article helpful:
OS X: How to use multiple displays with your Mac in Mountain Lion and earlier
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht5019
(Note: You will generally only see the arrangement option in Displays when you are configured to use the external display in Extended Desktop mode; there is no arrangement in Mirroring as both screens are showing the same image.)

  • Save for Web & Devices window doesn't fit @ 1366 x 768

I'm using a MacBook Air running at 1366 x 768, or within Adobe CS5 requirement tolerances, but whenever I try to 'Save for Web & Devices', the dialogue box that pops up is much too big, vertically speaking, for my screen. Attempting to minimize/maximize doesn't rectify the problem--a substantial portion of the window, including the buttons necessary to execute the save action, are in the not-visible portion of the window. If I hit ENTER/RETURN, I can complete the process, but this is clearly a bug: I should be able to resize the window, or scroll within it.
Is there something else I can do, short of pursue a fix from Adobe? Some setting I've overlooked? I'm running Lion, but this problem started on a Snow Leopard install.

…Yep, that seems to work, but I shouldn't have to hide the Dock, right?…
Wrong!  Yes, you do have to hide the Dock if you want to share the Adobe Photoshop minimum required space with Apple's Dock, which in my opinion should be invisible when not needed, which in turn is for a split second every half hour or more.  I'm sick and tired of Apple shoving ugly, intrusive OS features down our throats (see footnote * in next paragraph).  I want the computer to do what I want, not what Apple wants.

  • 1366 x 768 Plasma TV

I'm considering buying a Mac Mini (1.66) to hook up to my 50" Panasonic Plasma with resolution of 1366 x 768. I've searched some old posts, and seems there are lots of questions/problems about getting this resolution. Is this still a problem? Is there a solution now?
I plan on using a DVI to HDMI cable to hook up my TV via my HDMI input.
    Thanks in advance!

Well it's not a problem for the mini anymore. Since the Intel mini, 1366 x 768 is a possible resolution. The G4 mini could not hit the 1366 value because it isn't evenly divisible by either 8 or 4, which was a requirement of the ATI graphics chip inside the G4 mini.
But the real question is what will your Panasonic TV do when it encounters this timing? A lot of TV sets expect only ATSC formats like 480p, 720p and 1080i. If you feed them a resolution like 1366 x 768, even though it may be the native resolution of the panel, they get tripped up by it and either don't show an image or else show an image but it is distorted and not the expected bit-for-bit mapping.
Have you tried hooking any other computers up to your plasma TV? If yes, what resulted? If you have been able to get other computer to display native on the Panasonic, then I would say the mini should work fine.

  • How can i get 1366 x 768 resolution (720p) from t42 laptop?

    Hi,
I'm trying to connect my thinkpad t42 laptop using a vga cable to my samsung lcd tv. my lcd tv has a native resolution of 1366 x 768. However, when i go to display properties in my video setting, i can only select 1024 x 768 for my lcd tv  (basically i only get 4:3 resolution options, i dont get any 16:9 resolution options). i've updated all my drivers - dont all windows and thinkvantage updates but absolutely cannot get the output resolution via vga cable to my lcd tv to be 1366 x 768.
Does anyone have any suggestions or has anyone had any luck solving this issue?
    Thanks!

    Hello,
Did you check Samsung's support web site to see if the provide a device driver (it may be called a monitor profile information file) for your Samsung LCD TV with 1366×768 (720p) resolution?  If so, did installing that help?

I bought pages on the app store and have math type installed. However I am do not have the option to "Insert > Mathtype Equations" either with right click or the drop down menus at the top of the screen. I also have OS Lion installed if this makes any difference. Please help!

I assume but I can't check that MathType rely on the standard iWork applications location which isn't the one used by the mac App Store.
Create a subfolder named iWork '09 in the Applications folder.
Select the iwork applications which you own then drag them into the iWork '09 folder.
You will be asked to type your password. Don't worry, it's normal.
It's required because the System must store the infos describing the new location so that, if a new revision is delivered, mac App Store will be able to find the apps where they are.
When this will be done, try to re-install MathType.
I guess that this time it will behave flawlessly.

  • Why is Safri not supporting standard gmail

Why is Safri not supporting standard email? This problem started about 10 hours ago.

Sorry -- the fact is that there doesn't seem to be any logic to what is happening -- or rather not happening.
There are two issues and I don't know if they are related or not.
    GMAIL and MAIL:
Works on my MacAir but NOT on my iMac. Both have OSX 10.9 with most recent updates.
Works on my iPad with exactly the same account configuration as my iPhone... where it doesn't work.
MAIL in general on my iMac:
From day one with Mavericks, Mail refuses to remember my iCloud login information.
It remembers my university's email config (@rwu.edu)
Nothing shows up under Gmail at all but it doesn't give me the Lightning symbol to tell me there's a problem.
Just about every morning I come back to my computer and there's an application crashed dialog box that tells me Mail unexpectedly quit and do I want to REOPEN. And when I do, I have to log in for my iCloud Mail to show up.
I assume that crash reports are automatically going to Apple... I don't get the option to send it to you.
    Thanks in advance.
Addendum: I hesitate to delete the Gmail account from anywhere in case the result is that I will lose my ability to read  Gmail on the two appliances where it is all working. That, and the fact that it is the end of the semester and I have 100 students emailing me everyday about last minute things and final exams. NOT the time to delete ANYTHING. But I might try next week...
