HDTV +mac book HD Content

Hello All
I thought to experiment with viewing HD Content on my Panasonic TV
(TX-32LZD80-Widescreen-1080p) using my Macbook Intel C2D 2GHZ 1.5GB RAM.
I have a mini-dvi to VGA connector and this didn't do the trick entirely.
I mean the resolution options where not 1080p ( i think the maximum was 1200 or 1600 something and the Apple BBC HD Content wasn't that HD
So.. my questions are:
1) If i use the Mini-DVI to DVI and a DVI to HDMI connection instead will it give me FULL HD 1920x1080 resolution in the display preferences??
2) Is there any improvement of this setup as opposed to the mini-DVI to VGA connection?

I finally did figure it out, but they should remove the "support" word from this forum as the least you get from certain users here is support
anyhow.
I connected the macbook to the TV through a Min-DVI -> DVI -> HDMI lead.
The TV reports 1080p whilst the mac reports 1080i god knows which one is right
the content i watched from apple's website seemed HD.

I am using a mini display port to VGA adapter. I have sucessfully hooked up boh devices but it stopped working after a handful of times. I was wondering if there is anything I can do to fix the problem or is my cable broken?

Watching movies from my Mac Book Pro on a HDTV

i Have a 2011 Mac Book Pro hooked up to a HDTV via a thunderbolt outlet to HDMI. THe only picture I get is the galaxy picture that is the initial desktop on the Mac. It won't change. This isn't even my current desk top window. Does anyone know the problem?

I could be wrong, but I believe one of the differences in DVI v HDMI is that DVI does not carry audio, so you may want to verify that you may need another cable, or not.

You need to copy some files and your iTunes folder to the new computer. Do you have a backup of your old computer (or still have the old computer?) Was the old computer a Mac or PC?

Never Ever do anything with an operating System without backing up first.
While it is usual for a new OS to install with no loss of data, the time you do it without first backing up will most likely be the time that you wish you had backed up.
In all of the updates and upgrades Apple distributes there is a recommendation to backup your data before installing.
The easiest option is to get an external hdd if you do not already have one, plug it into the mac and follow the prompts to use the drive for Time Machine. Note that any data existing on the external hdd will be erased so use a new one or one that you are confident is ok to erase without a disaster ensuing.
Also ensure that System Preferences -> Energy Saver has been set so the Computer Sleep is Never so that the backup will not be interrupted if this is the first backup or it is a long time since the last backup was done.

You mentioned that you have attempted to do so with a Thunderbolt adapter and HDMI cable? Your computer actually doesn’t have a thunderbolt port nor does it support thunderbolt. Basically, my iphone has been in the same apple ID as my dads iphone and mac book, so my iphone has always been synced to his macbook. I bought myself a mac book the other day and want to sync my iphone to it. However i have obviously put my mac book in a different apple id as i know pay for things i download myself, how can I sync my iphone to my mac book without losing all the music and pictures on it? ive now put my iphone into my new apple id thinking this might help? ive also tried clicking 'manually manage music and video' but this doesnt seem to work, it basically says you have to erase your iphone to sync to a new itunes!

You cannot. Copy everything you want form the old computer to the new one, then sync it.

Correct Iphone will sync, or manually manage, with one and only one computer/library at a time. Syncing, or manually managing, to another will indeed erase the current content.

I to use iphoto library manager to save corrupted iphoto and each time it saves some and the first time it brings up iphoto, iphone goes into "not responding" mode. Using mac book pro, iphoto 9.5.1, and maverick 10.9.2.

I've had issues with my iPhoto "not responding" and as a result I am attempting to save my photos to an external hard drive using iPhoto library Manager but each time I start the program it saves some, and then when it starts iPhoto, iPhoto then goes into not responding mode. Using mac book pro, iphoto 9.5.1, and maverick 10.9.2. I have completed all of the photo library first aid steps several times, but it makes no difference, iphoto eventually goes to "not responding." Initial issues started with Time Machine back ups stopping because of iphoto. Thanks......

Do you have a back up?
If you're just trying to recover the photos you can do that much more simply:
Go to your Pictures Folder and find the iPhoto Library there. Right (or Control-) Click on the icon and select 'Show Package Contents'. A finder window will open with the Library exposed.
Look there for a Folder called 'Originals' or 'Masters'. (varies according to the version of iPhoto)
Your photos are inside - these are the originals as imported from your camera.

Mid 2010 mac book pro crashing too many times!!!

HELP! I'm basically fed up with my mac book pro crashing so many times in a day. I'm not doing anything tedious, just basic web surfing and music and some microsoft word/excel. I've read that someone recommended to run EtreCheck and paste the result here so anyone that knows how to read them can help me figure out what's happening!
