HDTV with built in DVD player

I am looking  to purchase a flat screen hdtv with a built in dvd player to hang on my bedroom wall.  I am opting for the built in dvd player to save space.    Does any company make one in which the dvd player is for hd dvds?  Or a blueray?

  • Isymphony 19" LCD tv with built in dvd player

I just setup my Isymphony tv with built in dvd player. I put in multiple dvd's in the player and all came back saying they were bad discs even though they were fine. Any advice on the issue?

THe dvd player sounds like it is malfunctioning...
The problems with combo untis like yours is once the disc player dies, it really isn't cost effective to repair them.

  • TV w/Built-in DVD Player ejects disks without playing

I purchased this Toshiba 15LV505 15.6-Inch Widescreen LCD TV with Built-in DVD Player (Black)< Order #002-2619780-0839408 in April 2010.
I have never tried to use the DVD player until recently.
When I tried the DVD player it simply kicked the disk back out, after a couple of seconds, with no error message. I have tried several disks from Netflix, always with the same results.
I did some research and the Toshiba site says this problem is associated with the following:
Disc's may not playback properly because of region code settings on the disc do not match the player.
The DVD standard include codes to prevent playback of certain discs in certain geographical regions.
Each player is given a code for the region in which it's sold.
The player will refuse to play discs that are not coded for its region.
Regional codes are entirely optional for the maker of a disc.
Discs without region locks will play on any player in any country. It's not an encryption system, it's just one byte of information on the disc that the player checks. Check the disc or disc manufacture for the region code setting of the disc.
My question is this: Is it possible that this TV/DVD player won't accept disks made for the U.S market?

No, that model should be capable of playing US-region discs. It sounds like a hardware failure.

I haven't changed any settings regarding region codes

You may have run discs from different regions, these would be commercial DVDs. If so most DVD players need to be told what region the disc is from. Have you done this by chance, if you are not sure look at the region numbers listed on the commerical DVDs you have and see if some use different numbers.

  • Does the new imac come with a cd/dvd player/burner?

Does the new imac come with a cd/dvd player/burner?

It's $80.00. You can buy other externals for less, I think, but only the Apple one will work with Boot Camp Assistant for installing Windows and any other applications that will only work with an "internal" optical drive.
If this isn't important for you, then explore less expensive alternatives. Check out OWC for example.

  • HDTV with built in Blu-Ray Player

I posted earlier and the subject was incorrect.  What I am looking for is a flat screen tv that I can mount on the wall that has a built in blu-ray player.  I see many tvs that have built in dvd players, but I want the blu-ray.

I have not seen any units with built in Blu-ray.  IMHO such combos are far inferior to seperate player/TV.  Shop very carfully, the tradeoffs to get the blu-ray to fit in the TV chassis are significant, and often eliminate many options that you might want.

  • What kind of wireless bridge would work with Toshiba Regza HDTV & Toshiba Blu-ray DVD Player?

What will provide wi-fi to Toshiba DVD player connecting using an ethernet cable, giving an internet connection.

Thank you for this answer. I have another clarifying question for you as I am a wet behind the ears newbie at this. Does this mean that my 2 Wire DSL modem will be acting as the router that you mention? If yes, it would seem that this would also allow me to watch NetFlix movies from my computer on my Toshiba HDTV-correct possibly?

  • DVD freezing in built-in DVD player.

Edited a wedding in FCP and published it to DVD using Studio Pro.  Plays fine in my DVD player at home but the customer said it froze a lot in their DVD player which is built-in to a TV.  Are there any ways to make a DVD more broadly user friendly?  They also said the sound was too low.  I can fix that but wonder if it is related to the other problem.
    Thanks in advance.

Could be the physical media…a defect perhaps…but more likely the bit rate was too high for his/her player.
So I'd start by making sure you're burning the highest quality media available. (I have been happy with Verbatim Gold.)
In Compressor, I would check the bit rate settings. Make sure the maximum is under 7.2 Mbps if VBR or 6.5 Mbps CBR and that should produce disks with pretty broad playability.
I doubt the audio levels are connected with the freezing.
    Good luck.

  • Very strange problem with sound in dvd player

    Hi
I have a strange issue which I am cannot resolve. I recently purchased season 2 of NYPD Blue on dvd, region 1 (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00008YGRR/qid=1151702794/sr=1-3/ref=sr13/103-1409159-4182204?s=dvd&v=glance&n=130). The season is spread over several discs. The region of the dvds is the same as that of the superdrive on my 1.25 factory spec 15” pb running 10.4.6.(always has been region1) On playing the dvds in dvd player, the sound is very quiet, and you can hear a slight hissing noise (picture is fine). However, if I set the balance of the speakers in system preferences to the left (as far as I can) the sound becomes louder and the hissing disappears. Hence the sound is normal, other that the fact that it is unbalanced. The same happens if I set the balance to the right. Hence the hiss is only there when the balance is set to the centre or around it i.e. slightly to the left or right. This problem is true of all the dvds in the set.
Fair enough, the nypd discs are defective.
However, I then played them in a standalone dvd player without any fancy sound settings etc and no problems at all. Hence I then thought that the problem was with my pb - the only different thing I have done lately is use handbrake to put some of my other dvds (not these NYPD ones) on my iPod, so I thought that handbrake had done something (although I don’t know see how it could have done anything). However, today I tried some other commercial dvds in my pb (produced by the same company) and they sounded fine as has been the case for over two years. Hence, there is something about the nypd blue dvds which affects the quality of the sound output in my pb when the balance is centred. However, whatever this is it doesn’t seem to bother standalone players, nor is it something that anoth of my other dvds have.
Any ideas on what exactly is going on here, as it has me stumped.
(I don't have any other season of nypd blue, so I can't see if these have the same problem as well.)

  • Audio playback problem with HP mediasmart DVD player

Hi I have just set up my computer and linked it to my tv with a HDMI lead, I have been able to toggle between my pc speakers and my tv speakers on programmes such as windows media player and other HP mediasmart programmes but when I use HP mediasmart DVD player - a DVD will allow me to change from pc speakers to HDMI but I cannot change to HDMI (TV) sound when playing a Blu-Ray disk. I have tried changing my defult to HDMI and its just not working when playing BLU-RAY disks. anyone got any ideas? i have all the latest updates (running windows 7)

I have a ThinkPad T61p which I got one year ago. About one month ago the following problem suddenly appeared: When I want to play a DVD with WinDVD, I get the message "no valid Drive/Disc Found". When I eject and then start the DVD again, it takes about 4 minutes to start the DVD. Everything is very slow, the movie is croppy and I can often hear the laser head moving back and forward. I don't have any problems with other media like CDs or self printed DVDs with no region code and copy protection. I also have no problems with another DVD drive of the same kind (I have a DVD/CD-ROM drive). I tried to solve the problem with the troubleshooter (I have Windows XP), but nothing helped. My settings seem to be all right. Could anyone help me with this problem?

  • A script to force acrobat to play avi content with built in flash player instead of quicktime

Hello, is there a script that would force acrobat to play embedded avi content with the built in flash player instead of the quicktime player?  first reason is that the built in quicktime player doesn't play the avi files anyway (for me at least); and second is that there are hundreds of sound clips in the pdf, and it is likely that i will have to revise the document and export again, so I can't manually change the properties of each sound clip to open with flash player.  Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Buy software have wmv to Vp6 function.

  • Qosmio G30-E10: No Playback of DVD`s with "Toshiba HD DVD Player"

    Hi all,
If I try to playback a normal DVD (not a HD-DVD) with the Toshiba HD-DVD Player Software, I get the following message from the HD-DVD Player:
"This player has no DVD Playbackfunction. Please try an appropriate application for DVD playback"
HD-DVD Drive has current firmware. HD-DVD Player is on current patchlevel 4.20.16.
DVD-Playback with InterVideo WinDVD works fine!
Notebook is a Qosmio G30-E10, with Vista Ultimate (Factory standard).
    Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance.
    Sincerely
    Uwe

    Hello
Have you ever ask yourself why Toshiba install two players on this HD-DVD notebook? Probably not.
With short words: HD-DVD player is designed for playing HD-DVD movies only. For watching usual DVD movies use DVD player. For this purposes use WinDVD player.
Bye and enjoy your great Qosmio notebook.

  • Are there any LCD HDTVs with built-in bluetooth?

So I'm going to buy an LCD HDTV and I'd like to be able to use it occasionally as an external monitor for my iBook G4. Does anyone know of a brand that makes LCDs with built-in bluetooth? I could only find two--a Samsung that has been discontinued, and an LG that is only available in Europe.
If not, are there any ways to use my to-be-purchased tv as a wireless computer monitor?
    Thanks.
    -EM

Having an LCD TV with Bluetooth wouldn't help you to use it as a wireless monitor at all. Bluetooth is nowhere near fast enough to transfer real-time video data, let alone a high-resolution or HD computer display.
Bluetooth is for transferring small amounts of data. It would take 10-20 seconds to transfer 1 single medium sized JPEG image for example.
Wireless HD is a new technology that hasn't really made it to market yet as the standard is still being worked upon and adopted by manufacturers:

Why does it need to be wireless? If you're close enough to be able to see the TV at a usable distance, you're close enough to simply connect a cable.

  • Creative T5900 with creative slimline dvd player rocks!

I bought a creative Inspire T5900 that came bundled with a creative slimline dvd player for SGD$249. I connected everything up, i.e.,the 5.1 output from the dvd player to the speaker set. I test the system with a dvd with dolby digital audio source, everything sounds cool! The front speaker is very clear during movie playback (like what the specs stated), the bass is just nice (on the softer range type), surround speakers is a bit too loud but can be fine tuned with the dvd player, stereo playback is expectionally clear and powerful!
The creative dvd player is too a good buy. It got also everything u need in a dvd player!
It comes with mpeg4 playback, internal 5.1 channel decoder, digital and optical out for connecting to external decoder, various sound option to choose from, etc...
I cant believe such a budget system can give such quality sound! 2 thumbs up for this system...

    keetech,
Glad to hear that you enjoy the Fest.

  • HT204291 Checkerboard pattern with Airplay under DVD Player.

Airplay is working fine, that is, until I start it up under DVD Player. Then I immediately get a checkerboard pattern, until I stop Airplay. The movie runs fine without Airplay. Everything outside the DVD is mirrored fine.
I use a MacBook, AppleTV, and Mountain Lion.

It has nothing to do with actual DRM on the disc.
Apple are simply assuming anything played via DVD Player might be protected and preventing the screen area from being sent via Airplay properly.
You may find other media players such as VLC will work ok.
