HDV, "Media Pending" and previews reverting to unrendered.

OK, I've researched this topic in various threads, and while many report the same as what I've experienced, the GREAT dissappointment is that this problem appears to have been totally neglected in the 4.1 patch.  What a shame.
To revisit:  When editing in HDV certain portions of sequences containing effects or transitions playback the Yellow "Media Pending" graphic even though source files play just fine AND all FX are "rendered."  No changes to sources file names (i.e. - not an .xmp file link issue).  No reason for this to occur at all, really.  And there seems to be no apparent rhyme or reason as to when and where this ocurrs.
I can't find anyone reporting this work around:  The problem goes away when you nest the sequence segment in question, but you have to re-render and re-apply FX and transitions.
Sure, restarting PPro helps, but we've been frustrated by rendered portions of the timeline mysteriously becoming unrendered.
ANYONE have a solution (other than nexting the segments in question)?
All this (post 4.1) crap still makes me want to flush PPro CS4 down the toilet.  Saving up for FCP!

  • SSD for Media Cache and Preview files ...bad idea?

    Hi guys!
Today I killed my 3rd SSD.I used both of them for store Media cache and preview files with Premiere Pro and After Effects CS5.5.
1st was OCZ Vertex 3 240GB than I replaced to a new one. After few weeks later the 2nd OCZ Vertex 3 dead.
And now Corsair Force 3 is gone.I dont worry because all of them still in warranty period, and I havebackup from my projects.
Just asking maybe these SSD-s is not stable for this thing? I mean often write and read datas?
Maybe better to replace to a simple HDD (maybe 10000rpm)?
Or just I was that lucky guy who catch 3 defected ssd-s in the last six months..:-(

No, I don't think that you killed them; the OCZ Vertex 3 series, and many other SSDs using the same Sandforce controller, are having way too many issues where Adobe is not being used at all.
Do check your firmware on these drives too; there have been lots of updates trying to make these seemingly seriously flawed drives work more reliably.

  • Media Pending and Pending and Pending

    Hi,
I have a Premiere Project with a Sequence with several Clips that are connect via dynamic link with After Effects Projects.
After realoading I got a lot of Media Pendings. But nothing happends. Is there a bug? I have 16 GB RAM.
Is there a way to manually load them? Or at least is there a kind of progress bar? What happens heres? Why is the media pending?
It sucks. What shall I do? It doesnt load the media anymore.
    Regards Thomas

On the slight chance you're using that awful, notoriously bug-laden plug-in Magic Bullet Looks, it's causing this same problem, and you are guaranteed that by disabling it, your problem is solved.  It was a nightmare for me, because my whole project was color-corrected based upon that plug-in, so I had to downgrade to an earlier version from last year since Red Giant are totally stagnant in fixing its bugs.

  • AVI's (10bit) made with Digital Rapids say 'Media Pending' and never play on PC

I am running all 3 versions of Premiere Pro on our work PC (CS6, CC, and CC2014). We use this system to edit AVI's made with
Digital Rapids Stream 3.7.47. Before, we could load any AVI and it would read 'Media Pending' for a few seconds then load right up.
Now, it sits on the yellow screen and never loads. I've tried 6 or 7 different AVI's and none worked in any of the 3 versions of Premiere. The only glimmer
of hope was one loaded on After Effects CC2014, but that's it.
So, I should also mention these are 10 bit AVI's. I HAVE been able to load 8 bit AVI's but the 10 bit are all problematic in Premiere.
    Please help... Deadlines approaching...
    Thanks!

DustinMedlam, I have the same exact problem. I started using my Iphone 4S for shooting video about 2 months ago and tranferred them to my Windows machine with Windows 7. I use the clips in Sony Vegas pro 11 and make short movies. I upgraded to ios 6 last week and every video that I shoot with my iphone 4S now is not usable in Quictime or Sony Vegas???? My old videos from before ios 6 play just fine and I can use them in Sony Vegas with no problems. The only way to play the files is with Windows media player. this does me no good as I just began making short films and now I can not use any of the video I have shot since ios 6. I also have a Samsung Galaxy S2 and I shoot video with it and use the clips in Sony Vegas with no issues!?? I can not believe this is not BLOWING up on the internet like the WIFI issue is..... What do we do? All my video gear is for my Iphone not my galaxy S2. This is very annoying. I also notice that no one from Apple response to these support forums. So why are they available?? What a JOKE!

  • CS6 Feature: Media Browser and Preview in Files Panel

Another two-fer feature overview for Audition CS6.  When we started the re-write for Auditino CS5.5, it quickly became clear that the hack Audition 3 used to enable preview within the Open File dialog was no longer going to fly.  With Windows 7 and OS X, the APIs to customize these dialogs were lacking or potential pitfalls of programming peril, and the unfortunate decision was made to not include them with CS5.5.  Additionally, and at no fault of Microsoft or Apple, preview within the Files panel was not implemented.  These two missing tools unleashed a pretty loud cry from our users.  I hope our answer to these requests in CS6 will satisfy everyone.
    PREVIEW IN FILES PANEL
It's not a glamorous feature by any means, but so crucial and glaring when it's missing.  Like oxygen.  So breathe free with preview in the Files panel!  Yes, all your favorites are back including Loop Play toggle, and Auto-Play!  You may even hide the panel transport if you really don't care about it!  And even then, when you realize how nice it was to have but are too stubborn to expose it again, you can secretly toggle Auto-Play and Loop from the panel menu.  It'll be our little secret.  I'll never tell...
Note the mini time display when playing or after pausing preview, and the ability to sort files by open order or last-accessed order.
    MEDIA BROWSER
A feature so nice I should probably have written about it first.  You get what you pay for, however, and these forums are a free service.  Who needs an Open File dialog, which is only available when you need to open a file but provides little value otherwise?  There's likely some reason they've been so popular the last 30 or more years of application UI design, but Audition CS6 has a little something more useful.
Easily browse your local drives, removable and thumb drives, and mounted network locations from within Audition!  Preview files without opening them!  Filter out unsupported media!  Create Shortcuts to your favorite locations! I know, right?!
But wait, that's not all!  Drag-and-drop your assets into the Files panel or directly into your multitrack session timeline!  Insert into a new or existing CD Layout!  Send a group of files into the Match Volume panel for amplitude/ITU Loudness adjustment!  Even reveal the file directly in your OS file explorer!  Hide the left-hand Root location panel and use the fancy little dropdown selector at the top of the panel!  There's a lot going on in this panel, and it comes FREE with your purchase of Adobe Audition CS6.

_durin_: We are glad that you are working about it, but as we understood we can expect this kind of functionality in next version of Audition? We are great fans of your software since cool edit. We are working on it for about 13 years and must admit that politics of your company is a suprise for us. Adobe 1.0. complete non stabile, 1,5 corrected, 2.0- perfect. 3.0 very good but with few shortcomings. We are waiting for an upgrade for our pack (2xAA 2.0 + 1xAA 3.0 + new work station). We were happy that we heard that version 5 is comming, but in our industry is useless. Version 6 without few small details would be acceptable, but we won't  buy incomplete software without patch support in full price. It is a fact that you made good job because restoration of advanced tools is very fine and the engine is shocking fast. Our proposal - please give us next version for test one day before publication. Tests are free because in our opinion it is best software in our job and we wont change it. We are waiting for version 7.0 .
Bob howes: I understand that it might be non important function for you, but please try to produce a sound commercial and match the music about 100-200 examples not using the preview, just by drag to the multitrack. Repeat this several hundred times. You will change your mind And this only one of many functionality of this button.

  • Media Pending PP CC 2014

Hi, When i open PP CC 2014 it opens my workspace and my recent file. But no preview. It only says 'MEDIA PENDING' on a yellow screen. I know hwat it means, had it earlier, but this time it won't go away and show the sequence preview. 1 out 10 times when i reopen PP it wil show, but will freeze after a few moments..
The file is just below 3 minutes with medium effects/edits. Audio still rolls while playing.
    Rendered. Didn't worked.
    Media Cache deleted. Didn't worked.
Also tried to work on the file in PP CC. But it can't open (newer edition).
I have to finish the project before saturday. Is there something i can do about it?
Oe maybe a little trick that make the file open in PP CC?

    I just upgrade my system Intel I7 5820K, 16g 2400 ram, Nvidia GTX 970 4G video graphic card, 2 X SSD 256G, 2 X HD 7200rpm 3T, Windows 8.1.
I tried on different HD and same message Media Pending and freeze. I tried with a new project and import file ands same messsage.

  • PP 2014 Sony F5 Media Pending no solutuion!?!?!?!?!

In the studio we have couple of Windows 7 machines with the Premere Pro CC 2014 installed
Currently we're working on a project that was shot on Sony f5 in MPEG4 SStPSQ (4:4:4)
On all the machines everything works fine except one because of the Media Pending Issue
We work on windows and we tried to get it solved in different ways
1.) Searched the web and this forum as well for the answer to the Media Pending Issue. (The hints to move around plugin files and uninstall the Sony RAW plugin)
Re: Problem previewing raw mfx files
2.) Uninstalling the Sony plugin + registry cleaning
3.) Uninstalling all of the Adobe Software using the Cleaner tool + registry cleaning and reinstaling
4.) Deleted the plugin files from the plugin directory and deleted the cache up is this
5.) Using the shift key every time to strart PP
Only thing what we came up just with this
ImporterF65 file has not much to do with importing the Sony shots but moving it around can generate an import error. The footage is handled by Importer MXF but why does it not work in this case...
Please post an update if a solution is found.
    Kind Regards

  • Premiere cc constantly says 'Media Pending'

Hi, if anyone could help me resolve this problem I would be so grateful as I have been tearing my hair out trying to fix it.  I was editing wedding footage for a client (the first one I have ever done!) and noticed that as I added more warp stabilisation to my shots, Premiere started getting quite slow and sticky.  Then it finally froze and crashed.  However, uponrestarted it just says 'media pending' and will not play any of the footage.  the worst thing about this is it has affected my auto save files too which do the exact same thing!
All the footage is stored on my hard drive on a 2013 Macbook Pro, 8gb ram with no other programs installed and with over 200gb of space free.  I have tried clearing the cache and this did not help.  Previously to this Premiere had been crashing at least once per day and twice even wiped all my footage! (Although I was able to retrieve the majority of it from my last autosave).  This is currently a trial version of Premiere Pro cc.  Any advice or help any of you could give would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!
    Tony

    Hi,
Thanks for replying.  I just did what you suggested but unfortunately no difference.  The footage was shot on a canon 7d, 30fps as .mov files with a h.264 codec.  With this uncompressed footage Premiere was really struggling to do anything (never mind let me edit) so I was advised by a friend to transcode the footage to an easier codec (i think it might have been Apple DVCPRO50) but still in a .mov format.  This worked better for a time (with less crashes) but whenever i started adding the warp stabiliser it all fell apart.
I had a guy from Adobe controlling my computer for over an hour today trying to work out what the problem was.  He was stumped and advised me to move my footage form the external drive to my hard drive - this worked for a short time before the same problem with 'media pending' occurred and i haven't been able to access the footage since.
I am starting to think i might have to start again with my footage (this will be the 3rd time a serious problem with Premiere has forced to restart my project), could i ask you guys what is the best format to transcode the footage to ensure there is as little strain as possible on Premiere while also retaining the best image quality?

  • Premiere pro cs6 on my Mac  stuck at media pending

I can load my project and it will work for about 1 minute and then when you scrub a clip the thumb nail is replaced by Media Pending. If I go to the next clip the thumb nail comes back but the new clip goes to Media pending and
the time line freezes. I've uninstalled  and reinstalled and updated several times. I also cleared catch. I can't find any fixes on the web. What can I Do!!!

It sounds like the media may be going offline. Where is your media located? ...local, server, hard drive... etc. If it;s a hard drive or server, ids it possible that the location itself is going offline and back on? Otherwise it may be a media cache problem, in which case you can delete those and re-generate. I (or someone else) can send instructions for that if needed. There may be other possibilities to explore too, but let's start here.

  • Media won't load inside project, always says Media Pending

For some reason when I open a project, even though I let it load all files through the progress bar in bottom right, almost always when I edit for a while and then go into the media bins and look at a file I didn't immediatly look at it says media pending and shows the yellow box.  It does this even though there is NO progress bar.   However if i quite premiere pro and reopen it and go straight to the same files they are always ready/there/loaded.  help?

  • Conforming and Indexing Errors, Media Pending, Audio won't play in timeline

I'm working on a desktop PC which is running Windows 7 Professional 64-bit and Adobe Premiere Pro (version CS5.5). It's currently utilizing a second gen. 3.4Ghz i7 2600 processor, 16GB of 1600Mhz RAM, 64GB solid-state drive and a ASUS P8Z68-V Intel Z68 Motherboard with onboard audio (Realtek ALC892 chipset) and onboard video. My problem is this:
The conforming and indexing of all of my imported media never seems to finish regardless of how many times I reopen the project file and wait for it. On the lower right-hand portion of the screen, next to the conforming/indexing progress bar, is a little red "X". When clicked, it pops up with a list of errors that read: "An unexpected error occurred while performing a conform action on the following file...". As a result, my audio channels have no waveform and during playback there are no audible tones or levels. On some video clips there's just text that reads "Media Pending". This only appears to happen with project files that I saved on external hard drives, and I suspect it has something to do with the Media Cache Files folder and how Premiere Pro locates these conform/index files. I've also encountered this problem in CS3 and CS4.
    I have a few questions:
    1) How do I avoid error messages in regards to indexing and conforming
    2) How do you know when indexing/conforming has completed itself? (there doesn't seem to be a progress log or a list of commands/executions)
    3) Indexing and conforming appears to be an automatic process, but is there a way to do it manually?
    4) What's the best way to setup your media cache files when you click EDIT > PREFERENCES > MEDIA?
    5) If I have approximately 1 hour of footage, what's an average wait time for conforming/indexing? What about 5 hours of footage? 10?
    6) Adobe recommends not editing until the conforming and indexing has completed itself-- how important is this?
    7) Sometimes it appears as though the conforming and indexing has finished, but then I still have problems with playback. Do I have to reopen the project for it to continue with the conforming/indexing progress? I've already determined that the video file I'm working with is intact and free of any corruption.
I'm fine with having to wait for a project to conform and index, but it never seems to complete itself! Any help regarding this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Harm filled in pretty much all the salient details, but I'll do another pass here.
    1) How do I avoid error messages in regards to indexing and conforming
Two parts here.  One, conforming only happens for certain media files, ie the ones where performance is critical and we can't depend on extracting the audio fast enough for realtime playback.  That's basically anything in an .mpeg wrapper, or AVCHD material.  So if you edit XDCAM HD/EX or P2, or RED, or even AVIs or QT, those formats don't require audio conforming.
If you're stuck editing AVCHD or MPEG2, then it needs to conform.  But, that being said, you shouldn't be getting errors in the first place. I think it's related to your external drives.  More below...
    2) How do you know when indexing/conforming has completed itself? (there doesn't seem to be a progress log or a list of commands/executions)
Nope, you have a progress status bar indicating which file it's working on.  If there's an error, it shows up in the events panel.
    3) Indexing and conforming appears to be an automatic process, but is there a way to do it manually?
    No.
    4) What's the best way to setup your media cache files when you click EDIT > PREFERENCES > MEDIA?
While some people like having the check box for having the conform files beside the media, I hate it.  Yes, it means that if you move the project to a different system & reopen, it means that you potentially can avoid recreating CFA files, but I find the drive littering not worth it.  I much prefer having setting the Media prefs to point to a specific media drive.  Usually a raid, if available.  Definitely not an external drive that you disconnect & walk away with.  If you don't have a permanent raid on your system, then preferably a dedicated internal drive for media (think along the lines as your Photoshop 'scratch disk').  Failing that, leave it on your C: drive, although with a 64 Gig SSD, you probably don't have much room for transient temporaries.
    5) If I have approximately 1 hour of footage, what's an average wait time for conforming/indexing? What about 5 hours of footage? 10?
Like Harm said.  Totally dependant on the media container & the speed of your drive i/o.  The conforming is iterating through the entire file & pulling audio data, so it's not CPU intensive, it's all i/o.
    6) Adobe recommends not editing until the conforming and indexing has completed itself-- how important is this?
If you're trying to play/scrub while conforming, it's going to be pokey.  Esp. if you're trying to access the file that's actively being conformd.  As I just said, we're hitting the files for all the audio.  The i/o is being saturated already, so unless you have a stellar raid, you don't have much headroom.
    7) Sometimes it appears as though the conforming and indexing has finished, but then I still have problems with playback. Do I have to reopen the project for it to continue with the conforming/indexing progress? I've already determined that the video file I'm working with is intact and free of any corruption.
You should be good to go.  Sounds like there's something else at play here.
Okay, back to what I think is wrong:  you don't mention what kind of external drives you're using.  You're making a bad assumption that blowing away conformed files & doing a reconform is buggy - I doubt it, as that's the same process that happened when you initially brought in the files.  I've blown away my media cache folder multiple times and have never seen failures on reconform.  So it's got to be one of two things:  either a read error from the source when attempting to pull the audio, or a write error to the destination.  Now I don't know where you currently are pointing the media cache directory, or what your source drive is, so I can only speculate.
My suggestion is to do some elimination.   Copy one of the files that failed on you to your C drive, & target your media cache directory also to C:.  Pick a new project, import your copied file, confirm that it conforms correctly & behaves.   Then, try to use the same clip from your external drive, keeping the media cache to C:.  If that's still good, then try targeting another (local/internal) drive as your media cache target; close/restart, then import the clip from C:, and then import the clip from your external drive.  This troubleshooting should give us something.
PS, if you're trying to edit from external USB drives, good luck.  I find it a major PITA that I avoid as much as possible.  Firewire isn't much better.  I know some people do it successfully, but I think it's a road fraught with peril.  These devices are generally not designed for heavy duty I/O and a flaky connection or drive is nothing but pain.
    Cheers

  • Files connect and then disconnect, give me Media Pending sign indefinitely.

    Operating system: OS 10.10.1
When opening my project file, the files connect and I achieve playback for maximum 1-2 minutes.
Then the files disconnect and I get an indefinite "Media Pending" window that does not go away.
I've tried exporting an XML of my sequence and opening it in a new project. When I do this and try to import the footage, I get an error message that says "files not supported."
However, the files (RED files) are fine as I can view them in Rec Cine.
Why would my software stop recognizing files I've been editing for 2 months? What to do next?

  • Freezing Playback, Media Pending, No Saved Prvw Files -on Pr 6 Cloud.

Freezing Playback, Media Pending, No Saved Prvw Files -on Pr 6 Cloud.
My Creative Cloud Pr 6 is freezing video on the timeline and it's driving me crazy. Can't work all day. I've checked all my system settings and all seem to be okay. Running Creative Cloud on Win 7. 16GB RAM with 12GB dedicated for Pr, Ae, Ps etc. 138GB free on C Drive and 1TB free on project drive. I'm working with HDV video from Panasonic HMC150 1080/60i and 1080/30p. What's wrong and what can I do? I just found out there are no "Saved Preview Files" in the Pr Preview folder. "Media Pending" constantly showing when attempting to playback from timeline, even with 1/4 or 1/2 playback resolution. Timeline video display head showing thumbnail of a completely different video clip. My video card (EVGA GTX 580) is getting hot excessively. It's inbuilt fan is ok. All system fans are ok. I had to put extra fans on it. Product update issue or what? Thank you. I need help.

    Hello Jim.
Thanks again for the link. I thought that would help but I started another project and the timelinve video was freezing on a 10 minute AVCHD clip.
It even freezes on a 2 minute clip, so spanning is not the cause of the problem. My system is running on only 6Gb of my 16Gb RAM, so memory is not the issue.
What else can be the problem?
Meanwhile, my C Drive is filling up real fast with Pr cache files. I deleted the ccache file in it's folder and cleaned up cache files through Pr. Could that be the problem?
Most of the clips I'm working with were imported before the cache cleanup/delete. Even at that, the cache folder has grown about 80GB after the cleanup?
I mostly use Pr, Ps and En, Ae once in a while.
    Thanks

  • Premiere Pro CC 2014 gets stuck on Media Pending.

    Hi there,
I've been having a bit of trouble with PPCC 2014 opening projects then getting stuck with all my footage and assets and after effects comps just displaying with 'Media Pending'. The program still works, opens, and I can save and click around so it's not crashing but nothing loads unless I force it to relink which obviously isn't great when I'm having to edit multiple large projects. These projects still open just fine on regular old Premiere Pro CC so I will continue using that for the time being.
Media Encoder is also having an issue with After Effects comps that are in Premiere Pro timelines and only display as 'Media Pending'.
Fortunately all these issues go away if I reboot my machine and try again straight away, but having to reboot my mac just to open a project or do a export isn't exactly preferable.
    I have a Mac Pro (late 2013) with 10.9.4 with 16gb Ram and a AMD D500 3GB card.
I'm just wondering if anyone has been suffering with the same issues and has come across any fixes.
    Thanks in advance.

Here is my post from another thread concerning the same issue:
I got through Adobe to connect to me remotely to solve this problem twice. They cleaned the cache and preferences and renamed my Adobe folder under applications (don't exactly know how thy did it.) The problem disappeared only to come back after a little while. No video playback, unresponsive buttons - but playable audio, and media pending for all clips. I told them to report this to tech support. This was about a month ago but no updates still..I know I hadn't had this issue neither with CS6 nor with CC.
I am currently rendering my project after changing the sequence's editing mode to Quicktime ProRes Proxy to see if it will help. Preview is still preview but as you said maybe the issue is to be with preview settings set to i-frame mpeg. I have read about the mpeg importer plugin to be an issue in previous versions of premiere pro concerning issues with media pending but i might be wrong.
After changing the sequence settings to Prores Proxy (or if you don't have these codecs installed you may try another codec or google "Prores codec install" and have them installed) the problem cleared away. I have looped the timeline and played it over and over for a couple of hours without the issue surfacing.
For Adobe support and for others to know here is a wiki concerning the issue in CS5. FAQ:Why does my clip show as "media pending"? - Adobe Premiere Pro

  • 1 second media pending, random occur

CS5 on Win7 64Bit, 6.4GB RAM reserved for CS5, Quadcore 2.4, all data on internal HDD, all Cachefiles and other Data in Projectfolders.
    1440x1080 (1.3333) Project, 25 fps, PAL, 48000Hz, 1.5hours duration, 69 different Objects, biggest 9.2GB, mpeg, m2ts, mp3, wav
    I exported the movie with CS5 Mediaencoder in PAL, 1280x720, 25 fps, Quality 4.0, MPEG, 384Kbit/s, 48kHz, 16 Bit, Stereo, VBR, 1-Pass, Min. 4.00, Goal 10.00, Max 18.50 MBit/s
Random "Media Pending" screen appears for one second in the exported file which is flawless apart from that. They don't appear in the premiere editor though. The preview never has the media pending screens.
I did found out though, that they appear mostly whenever it jumps from a little object to the big objects. I used 4 cameras of which one was on a tripod recording line in sound and the stage from above. so if I use one of the other cameras to cover the part where "Media Pending" occurs, then it gets only shifted to the point where I stopped covering it, but again only for one second, eventhough its the same object just a bit later.
    solutions anyone?
    Philipp

    Welcome to the forum.
Media Pending means just that - the program is processing some aspect of the media in use. There could be several reasons for this. The program could be Indexing the material. This happens with MPEG material most often. This ARTICLE will give you a bit more background.
It could also be that some other program, like Windows Indexing is locking the material, and PrPro cannot access it at that moment. This ARTICLE will give you a bit of background on that.
There are probably a few other causes, and maybe others will chime in with some of those.
    Good luck,
    Hunt
