Hdv with slow motion does flicker

I´m editing now some clips at 1080 i and I need to use some slow motion clips. I use speed at 60 % and also active frame blendding and all it´s ok and I haven´t any trouble with the video. But when I do render I can see a big flicker at the picture. I put some deinterlace or flicker filter and all beccomee good but when I do render another time and export the movie I can see the flicker. The trouble is like final cut can´t apply the filters because if I mark frame blending at speed and save it, when I open fcp another time the effects was not in this place.
Sorry for my English

Maybe it has something to do with HDV? Can you switch your sequence rendering to ProRes? CMD+0 to enter your sequence settings. Click on the Render Control tab. Under Codec, choose Apple ProRes.

  • How do I export movie with slow motion & captions?

I have made a movie of my iPhone 6 that has a slow motion section and a caption. When I plugged it into my MBP and cope dthe movie across all the edits went missing. Any ideas?

    Hugh,
FCExpress does not export MPEG2. Never has.
You will have to export another format and then convert it to MPEG2 using Compressor, which is available in Final Cut Studio; or you could use ffmpegx except I don't believe it's been updated since Tiger (OS X 10.4) and there have been reports that it only installs with difficulty on 10.5 or 10.6. Read the ffmpegx download instructions carefully before starting an install.
Another thing - you do know that your EOS Rebel shoots H.264 video, right, and you will have to convert that to QuickTime Apple Intermediate Codec before you import it into FCE ... MPEG Streamclip is a great utility to use for that purpose.

  • Problem with slow motion reversed clips

    Hi
I've imported clips into iMovie 11 and can apply slow motion through Clip Adjustments. When I try to do both Slow Motion and Reverse all I get is a still clip. I tried both copying an existing Slow Motion clip and tried to reverse it and tried applying Reverse and Slow Motion at the same time to a normal clip without success. I've tried it with and without Stabilization. Any ideas?

You are not alone! But I have not found a way to resolve the problem either! Could it be a fps problem?

  • Working with Slow motion (240fps) Sony F55 Raw mxf files

I'm working on a project that uses both 25p files and 240fps slow motion files from a Sony F55.
The problem is that when I add the slow motion files to my file list everything gets media pending, even the normal 25p files. If I delete the the slow motion files from the list the normal 25p gets back to normal behaviour, withous Media Pending.
It seems that Premiere Pro cannot work very good with Sony RAW 240fps files. Is that I known bug? Is there a way to fix it?

  • Intermittant problems with slow motion and crash of Premiere Pro

Many complain about Premiere Pro's instability.
Since a couple of days I have the same problem. Every time I want to navigate from A to B, Adobe seems to either introduce a severe SLOW MOTION effect on it's own accord, that I never put in !!!, or it just CRASHES with an error message along the lines "Problem, Try again" or similar.
This is utterly frustrating !!! I have been trying for over 6 hours today to get this remedied, but no luck.
Looking back over the past days, the problems seem to have grown exponentially both in frequency and in duration.
Of course, this is not about the program, but about the Premiere Pro Forums.

  • Working with slow motion/mixed frame rates

    Hello!
Just wondering what the best solution is for slow motion. The majority of my footage is shot on DSLRs in 1080 at 29.97fps, so this is my sequence and project setting, however, I also have some slow motion clips shot in 1080 at 96fps. I have tried selecting the slow motion clips to Modify, Interpret Footage, Assume this frame rate but for some reason it's not slowing down in the playback and the metadata is still saying the clip is shot in 29.97fps. Am I forgetting something?
    Thanks in advance!

  • Odd issue with slow motion and exporting

    Hello,
I have a project with footage taken at either 24p or 60i settings on a Canon HF200. I'm using 7.0.1, ProRes 422 selected. Frame size is set to 1920x1080. I'm exporting using the "Share" menu and the Apple TV preset.
The project is divided into sequences. One of these sequences (whose source material shot using the 60i setting) is set to play in slow motion using the "change speed" option set to 50%.
Here's the odd part, to me at least:
When I export just the slow motion sequence of the project, it plays perfectly (good quality, smooth not jerky, no shadows/trails). But when I export all sequences joined together, the slow motion sequence (and just the slow motion sequence) appears stuttery, with trails on every action by the actors.
Another odd bit: when I export just a subset of the project including the slow motion sequence and everything after it, again the slow motion sequence plays as intended, after export. So the problem only occurs if I export the slow motion sequence with anything before it included.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Problem solved, but I'm not sure if it was my re-importing the clips, or un-checking the "frame blending" option that did it. I did both for no particular reason, and one of them worked.

  • Premiere "instant movie" with slow motion 60fps

I'm recording at 60fps and using Premiere Pro. Is there any way to use a feature like the "Instant Movie" in premiere elements and have it either create the whole movie in slow motion or at least clips in slow motion?

  • Are bursts and slow motion videos transfered as they are to a PC

I wasn't sure how to ask this question in short. I have an iPhone 5s and a Windows computer. When I take a burst photo, how does it work when I transfer the photos/videos directly to my computer? (not going through iTunes) Do the bursts save as individual pictures or are they lost? or maybe you can only see them on your iPhone? Also with slow motion videos, I know they don't save as slow motion unless you save them again as if that was real life capture. I do believe that they become slow motion again if i put them back on my phone, as the format is probably the same. Is this true?

Premiere Pro just doesn't do slow motion very well, especially not with 24 fps footage.  You can help correct that:

  • Slow-Motion Examples

    Hi there.
Does anyone know a place where I can find video examples of Motion 3's use of optical flow slow motion other than the FCS2 website?
I'd also be curious to hear anyone's experience with slow motion on Motion 3. The example on the website looks better, but it still doesn't look great. I'm trying to figure out whether it's just because that footage is zoomed in, or if the optical flow technology just isn't that good.
I really don't want to invest in Twixtor at the moment so I'm hoping to hear good stories about the program.
    Thanks.

I've used Motion's optical flow and it was excellent. But YOU asked if I had anything posted or knew of any posted examples online and I don't.
The great thing about Motion's optical flow is that you can dynamically play with the timing once the analysis has taken place. However as has been mentioned, it can create HUGE analysis files - this is to allow dynamic retiming - that are EIGHT BYTES PER PIXEL. So - 1920x1080x30x8 = about half a GIGABYTE per second for 1080i HD material.
Because Motion also allows you to dynamically add to and move your clips around and speeding something up makes it chew thru more frames, it analyzes the entire clip, SO - the best way to handle this is to reduce the clip length to the maximum you'll be using by exporting a self contained quicktime from FCP and sending that to motion for optical flow retiming.

  • 60fps Reverse Slow Motion Bug?

I have been playing with slow motion in iMovie using 60fps source footage (i.e. 60fps clips in a 30fps project).  It does a decent job but I have come across some strange behaviour when playing the slow motion clips in reverse.  It appears that iMovie losses it's nice smooth slow motion when the clip is played in reverse.  By this I mean that in reverse the nice smooth 60fps@50% clips look the same as 30fps@50% clips, they are choppy.
Take a look a this clip for an example: http://vimeo.com/27162470  (just uploaded and currently being processed by Vimeo, may or may not be ready for viewing yet)
I cannot figure out why.  Wonder if this is a bug/limitation in iMovie or if I'm missing a setting somewhere.  I suspect the former.
    Message was edited by: DigitalOxygen.ca

One possible workaround is to reverse the clip before importing into iMovie but I have yet to find a tool other than iMovie that will let me do that easily.  Some quick investigation into MPEG Streamclip, Handbrake, and ffmpeg didn't turn up much.
Anyone know of a tool that will allow me to reverse the clip before importing into iMovie?

  • What is the suggested frame rate to record in for fast / slow motion processing from a clip recorded

I want to create a video however I only have 1 dslr camera and I want the ability to post process the clips I record to be either in slow motion or fast motion. I don't want to have to record something in 24fps then 60fps. is there an ideal frame rate for both. What are some of the best practices for this in regards to recording and post processing in Premiere Pro.
Example of fast and slow video. Thanks.
    http://vimeo.com/75259949

The ideal is to shoot in different frame rates, one for real time footage and one for fast or slow motion clips.  This is called under and overcranking.  It means you have to decide when shooting whether the clip will be real time or not.
Less than ideal is to shoot everything at one frame rate and then slow it down or speed it up later.  It's less than ideal because the effect is never as perfect as the ideal method.  Especially in PP, which does not do very well with slow motion to the point I recommend using After Effects instead.  (At least with 24 fps media.)
On a side note, you can help solve the horrible slow-motion problem:

  • HT4437 slow motion video to TV

I have problems transmiting a video with slowe motion from my iphone 5s to my TV through apple tv. I just hear the sound. Do not see image. Any idea???

Hi. After after trying too upload from the Facebook app, I found out that the video isn´t saved as a finished video. (you can still edit it)
I used the iMovie  app to save the movie as new finished movie. Open iMovie , those video, select your video, click the share button i down right corner. Push create movie (I guess, mine is in danish) play the movie or not, push the back button, change the name or not, push the share button, save the the movie. Now you have a finished movie, that can be shared as any normal movie.
    Hope this helps

  • Compressing .mov to mp4 comes out in Slow Motion!

I have Compressor version 3.5.3 but I don't think that's what the problem is.  I'm trying to compress an 11GB Quicktime file down to a couple of GB.
    It's a PAL .mov file, 1920x1080, 25fps, 48000kHz/16.
These are the Settings I chose :
    Video: Encoder MPEG4, 1920x1080, 25fps,
Key Frame interval:  I change 15 to 25.  Is that wrong?
    Bit rate: medium VBR
Audio:  Mono because Stereo greyed out 48000kHz.
Bit rate 64kbps is what comes up with 48000kHz.  (When I changed it to 16bit it brought 22000kHz)
Frame Controls Option is off.  Is that correct?
The result was a clip in Slow Motion Video and Audio alike.
What did I do wrong?  Is there an incompatibility somewhere?  I'd be most grateful for any suggestion.  Thank you,

Hello Russ, these are the 3 Inspector screenshots you requested:
    1)  Inspector for the Quicktime file to be compressed:
    2)  Inspector Summary 1
    3)  Inspector Summary 2
    4)  Inspector Encoder 1
    5)  Inspector Encoder 2
That's how I ended up with slow motion in the converted mp4 file.  What do you make of it?
Many thanks in advance for any light you could throw on this.
