HDV workflow, minimum system req

What is the minimum G5 that can handle native HDV editing? And what is a recommended workflow for a nonbroadcast piece? I currently have a dual 1G G4 and will have to update to edit this 1hr. show. I'd rather not use all my income to buy the new system, storage, etc. I do have Sony's HVR-M10U to use for capturing. This show is a combo of HDV and DV wildlife and scenic footage.

Funny, I just copied and pasted that link in a post yesterday.
Did you try doing a search for HDV workflow?

  • Final Cut Studio 2 Minimum System Requirements

Help me Obi Wan Kenobi....You're my only hope
I own a Dual 867 MHz Power PC G4 with 1.25 GB of ram and want to purchase Final Cut Studio 2, OS X v10.5 Leopard and Adobe Photoshop CS3. I know Adobe Photoshop CS3 and Leopard are compatible, However what concerns me is Final Cut Studio 2. These are the Minimum System Requirements stated [A Mac computer with a 1.25GHz or faster PowerPC G4 or G5, Intel Core Duo, Intel Core 2 Duo, or Intel Xeon processor] So my question is would Final Cut Studio 2 work efficiently or even at all on my computer? My thinking is with collectively 1734 GHz power it should work, But i could also be delusional. I really would hate to end of buying it only to find put it won't work.
    Thanks in advance!!!

If you're LUCKY, you might find a replacement processor card for your MDD Powermac G4 - (ideally dual 1.42GHz) - maybe eBay? - maybe from a Mac "breakers yard"? or someone selling off parts from a blown motherboard example?
It's a drop-in replacement, assuming you're OK with a screwdriver and replacement thermal paste.
    Edit: Hey! There you go:

  • What are the minimum system requirements for GB 4?

What are the minimum system requirements for GB 4? I did search this forum but wasn't able to find a direct answer.
I'm running version 3.0.4 successfully on a lowly G4 733 but I suspect this is as far as I can go.
I'm updating to iDvd'08 and was also wondering if I can safely update to GB4 or not (from GB 3.0.7) on a G4 733 mhz Digital Audio. Any help would be sincerely appreciated. My guess is that I cannot but I'd like to confirm prior to attempting any further updates in GB.

I try my best to play it safely; always. And you were right, everything worked on the ext. FW HD flawlessly ...... truly amazing software!
(I did happen to check the activity Monitor w/in Utilities and it showed GB4 using about 60-67% of the CPU on a G4 733 ..... I'm assuming this is normal).

Not sure if there's a correct order to opening these apps as there has been in former versions of iLife ..... however, this (as shown above) is the order in which I opened all apps, and all worked well.

I'm trying to download the trial version of Adobe Illustrator. An error message says that the OS does not meet the minimum system requirements for the installer. 10.6.0 is the minimum required for installation. How do I get my mac to be a 10.6.0 ? Right now I have a 10.5.8 is there a way to upgrade or something?

Buy the Snow Leopard retail installer (http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573Z/A?fnode=MTY1NDAzOA).
That will take you to 10.6.3.
If required you can then use the combo updater to get to the latest version, 10.6.8 (http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1399)

  • Minimum System for iWork?

I'm a new switcher, so this may be a silly question.
I recently bought a new Mac Mini, 512 Ram, Super Drive, etc. I ordered IWork and when I try to install it everything looks good and then it says there is nothing to install and quits.
I thought the mini had a G4 level processor, but is the mini below the minimum system requirements for iWork 05?
Thanks, this is my first glitch.

    Dennis, Steven--
I hope I'm not going to cause problems with this post, but--I installed the iWorks trial that came with my Tiger DVD, and--though I have an old Lime iMac DV 400 MHz G3, running 1 GB RAM, iWorks runs FINE. I've had no problems!
Though I read the specs, I'm stubborn and wanted to see if iWorks would run. The first time I installed it, the install quit half way though. So, I gave up. The next day, on a whim I tried again and, lo and behold, it installed.
I've used Pages only, as I have no need for Keynote. I love Pages and wish Pages was a stand-alone product so that Apple would expand it and make it more powerful and useful. I plan to purchase iWorks soon.
I don't know why iWorks works on my iMac. I guess I got lucky. I'm NOT *guaranteeing* iWorks will work on G3's!

  • Is there a minimum system requirement workaround?

I know that developers recommend, or force, minimum system requirements for a reason, to give the users the best experiance. However, this negates system upgrades (especially from third-parties). For example, I wish to run encyclopaedia britannica 2007 on my dual 1.6GHz powermac G4, the minimum being a G5 processor. Surely this configuration is enough. My question is 'is there a way I can bypass this check on, not just britannica, but other software (e.g. is there an application to 'fool' the system)?' Thanks alot.

One thing to note is that developers usually will not support their products on systems that don't meet the published minimums. So if you get it to install but have a problem, it''s quite likely that the publisher will refuse to assist. So think about that before purchasing any product that doesn't meet the minimums.
And I'd highly recommend that you confirm that any such product will at least install on your system before you buy the software; some installer checks flat cannot be bypassed.
is there an application to feign higher system components?
    No.

  • OS does not meet the minimum system requirements for this installer. 10.6.0 is the minimum required

How do I get my software? This is the message I am hitting before my download will complete:
OS does not meet the minimum system requirements for this installer.
10.6.0 is the minimum required for installation.

    Hi,
May I know what are you trying to download ?
What is the MAC OS version you are using ?
It seems you are trying to download an application which needs atleast 10.6 MAC version
I think you are using lower version of MAC, let us know the version of your MAC , in order to help better .
To check the version  : click on Apple Button on top left
select about this MAC, you will get to know the version over there.
If its something 10.5.x , then you need to upgrade your MAC in order to install that application which needs 10.6 MAC

  • Upgrading SSRS 2005 (Enterprise Edition) to SSRS 2012 (Enterprise Edition). Need to know Minimum System Requirements?

    Hi Guys,
Currently we are using SSRS 2005 (Enterprise Edition). We have 3 Reporting Servers and One DB.
I have been asked to provide minimum System (Hardware and Software) Requirements. Currently 300-500 concurrent users and accessing the reports.
I would like to know what should be minimum System (Hardware and Software) Requirements?
and also could anyone guide me in checking current systems configurations
    I have checked following:
Current Reporting Server DB Size: 3771.13 MB
Current Reporting Edition: Enterprise Edition (64-bit) 2005
    Database Version: C.0.8.54
    Server Mode: Native
I would like to check: Exact Concurrent users (How to check this?), RAM, Disk Space used and free. Please suggest If I have missed out any other configurations those need to check.
Thanks Shiven:) If Answer is Helpful, Please Vote

    Hi ,
    Check the Link Below.
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms143711.aspx
    Requirements
The default configuration option uses default values to configure the core settings required to make a report
server operational. It has the following requirements:
You hardware should meet minimum hardware and software requirements for running Microsoft SQL Server. For more information, see Hardware
and Software Requirements for Installing SQL Server 2012.
Reporting Services and SQL Server Database Engine must be installed together in the same instance. The Database Engine instance hosts the report server database
    that Setup creates and configures.
The user account used to run Setup must be a member of the local Administrators group and have permission to access and create databases on the Database Engine instance that
    hosts the report server databases.
Setup must be able to use the default values to reserve the URLs that provide access to the report server and Report Manager. These values are port 80, a strong wildcard,
and the virtual directory names in the format ReportServer_<instance_name> and Reports_<instance_name>.
Setup must be able to use the default values to create the report server databases. These values are ReportServer and ReportServerTempDB. If you have existing databases from
a previous installation, Setup will be blocked because it cannot configure the report server in the default configuration for native mode. You must rename, move, or delete the databases to unblock Setup.
If your computer does not meet all requirements for a default installation, you must install Reporting Services
in files-only mode and then use the Reporting Services Configuration Manager to configure it after Setup is finished.
Do not try to reconfigure your computer only to allow a default installation to continue. Doing so could require
several hours of work, effectively eliminating the time-saving benefit the installation option provides. The best solution is to install Reporting Services in files-only mode and then configure the report server to use specific values.
    Regards, PS

  • FCP won't load due to Minimum System Checks

On Friday FCP 6.0.2 was working fine and had been for a month.
On Monday it won't load...a Minimum System Checks window pops-up with and error:
"This system does not meet the following minimum requirements:
    • FCP requires that your system have a Quartz Extreme capable video card."
Maybe my video card went south?
    Any thoughts?
    Thanks,
    Chris

Have you run system profiler? Go to Apple Menu: About this mac: Mor info. See what it says about your video card. You might want to run techtool or see if there's a hardware test app on your original install disks that came with your computer.
Also, did you do a "software update?" You should never run this without first have an uptodate clone of your startup disk. You can check on what updates have been installed by going to system preferences: software updates: Installed updates.

  • Error: The installed graphics card does not meet the minimum system requirements by Aperture

I have a Mac Pro 3.1 10.5.8 and Aperture 2.1.4.  My NVida 8800gt with 512 mb was over heating so I brought and install the ATI radeon hd 5770 to replace it.  Now when I try to start Aperture I get this message "Error: The installed graphics card does not meet the minimum system requirements by Aperture".  All other software works fine, ie photoshop elements and Safari.  When I install my old card aperture will open with no problem, but of course the card will overheat within 10 mins and I will have no video.  I have search on google with no luck.  Will upgrading to Aperture 3 fix this problem?

    5770 requires 10.6.5.
The 8800GT - there is the 350* bake in over 10 minutes - 50% or better chance
you can find 8800GT on http://myworld.ebay.com/macvidcards/
    http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/23049/smcfancontrol
    http://www.bresink.com/osx/HardwareMonitor.html
Fan control helps with FBDIMMs which need to be kept under 70C too.
