HDX18 Touchpad get wild

Hello, i have a HP HDX18 1180EP for several years and i need to say that is the worst HP equipment that i purchase.
Display problems, Overheat and issues with the touchbar over the keyboard were the main problems i had in this laptop, but passed with two big fans and disconecting the touchbar.
Now i have another issue with this machine, without warning the touchpad gets wild and start to left click everything.
Sometimes it stops for itself in few de minutes, other times i need to shut down the laptop and wait several hours, or in some cases i go to sleep and pray for the next day i have laptop to work.
I get this laptop brand new in the store when it came out and in that time was the expensive laptop at the store, so its f*king anoying all the troubles i get with it, i just want a laptop to work nothing more.
After this i would like to know how can i solve one more issue on this machine.
I have Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 with all official available HP drivers.
Thanks in advance.
(PS: Today its another day that i will sleep hoping that tomorrow i can work at the laptop)

  • S8 touchpad getting clicked by itself

    Hi, I have a s8 which is about 7 months old. I am facing a peculiar problem. Even if I am not using the tab, it keeps running as if someone is using the touchpad. By itself, it keeps opening various apps and start typing. It keeps registering inputs by itself. Not sure, if the touch screen has a defect  Have no option but to shut it down. Extremely pissed off with this tab. Anyone having similar problem ? Amit

    Hi Smitha,
    in your action coding you call your EventHandler EmpRemove before showing the dialog:
    wdThis.EmpRemove(wdEvent1,empid);
    IWDConfirmationDialog dialog =wdComponentAPI.getWindowManager().createConfirmationWindow( Message, controllerInfo.findInEventHandlers("EmpRemove"), "Yes");
    So remove the line "wdThis.EmpRemove(wdEvent1,empid);" and let the EventHandler do his work when the user confirms the deletion. Probably you should als check whether and how your ConsultantId is transfered as parameter. Think about removing it from the EventHandler and getting the selection straight out of the table.

    My Pavilion zd 7379ea will only start up in battery mode. AC adapter appears OK with a firm green LED, so external power supply may not be the issue here? When I'm starting up (with what's left on the battery), both the charging LED and the AC LED are constantly blinking. When turned off, the battery LED is firm, and battery appears to be charging (but which obviously is not the case).  Occasionally, when computer is turned off, the AC LED is lit with a firm light.
    One odd thing I noted before this happened was that the computer ran on AC only when my HP printer was connected to one of the USB ports (no battery inserted). If I disconnected the printer USB cord, the computer just died immediately; it was like the computer was powered by the printer. Later I also discovered that the same cord (where it connected to the printer) had melted from extreme overheating. I tried to update the USB drivers for each port but it didn't change things. I also tried to connect a different printer to get the computer started but it didn't work this time. I'd be extremely grateful for any comments that may solve this power supply issue (and if possible explain the stuff with the printer connection).

    You unplugged a USB device while the notebook was still booted into Windows and on?
    Normally that won't cause any issues but , If you did that you may have damaged your  system board's Southport chip.
    USB is not a plug n' play port like SATA  and eSATA are.
    Here is a link to the maintenence manual for your laptop series.
    Is your notebook still within warranty? By the processor components listed in the manual,I believe it is probably not.

  • Touchpad gets stuck scrolling after resume.

    Hi, I have an acer V3-571G, running 3.10.15-1-lts (though this issue happens with the current stable kernel also).
    Basically, if the laptop suspends and resumes, often it will get stuck in "scroll" mode, as if I already have a finger on it.
    The current solution is to restart X but obviously this is quite tiresome if I'm trying to do some work.

    ke7mbz wrote:It seems like, at least in my case, that it thinks I'm touching the touchpad with two fingers instead of one, and therefore tries to scroll. Do you have two finger scrolling enabled.
    Yeah, two finger scrolling enabled and exactly the same behaviour after freezing.
    ke7mbz wrote:I'm wondering if it's caused by a particular combination of touchpad options. That's why I asked about the DE. KDE offers alot more options than Gnome via synaptiks.
    IIRC, when I still used Linux Mint, I had this problem with all DEs I worked with: Mate, Xfce and Cinnamon. With Arch I've used Xfce and mainly i3, same problem on both of them. Always with two finger scrolling on.
    Sharing this information for helping OP and others, modprobe commands are enough for me even though I'm interested in the deeper reasons of this bug.

  • Wear and tear on S10e touchpad - Is a replacement available anywhere?

    Hi Guys,
    I've been following several threads here but never felt the need to contribute (shy lol) but I have noticed that the touchpad on me beloved S10e is becoming "shiney". All laptops suffer from this but the rate at which my S10e is wearing is becoming a concern! Maybe I'm just too fussy - with my workhorse T42  I've gone through 2 new keyboards and a new touch pad!
    I've removed the front lower panel and seeing as it's one piece I was wondering if there are replacements available for the user to replace?
    Thanks,

  • Touchpad not working archlinux_64 Bit KDE

    Hi,
    I just installed xf86-input-synaptics. I want to use my external USB mouse, which functions properly and the touchpad. The problem is that the touchpad only works during Login process (login manager) but not on the Desktop (KDE). Xorg.0.log shows that Synaptics was loaded successfully. The touchpad is recognized as Synaptics PS/2 which is also correct. synclient gives a normal output (touchpad settings and values), so what's the problem?
    Greetings

    Seems like something is overwriting the synaptiks setting so the touchpad gets disabled after KDE starts... or maybe X is disabling the touchpad and doesn't recognize the synaptiks settings..

  • How do I disable touchpad swipe or edge gestures on Envy x2 13-j002dx ?

    I find that the edge gestures on the touchpad get in the way of my productivity, so I would like to disable them.  I've been able to disable these on other laptops, using an icon in the tray area.  I see no such icon with this device ( Envy x2 13-j002dx )
    The closest I've come is I did edit this registry setting, based on instructions I found for touchpads which use the PrecisionTouchPad (including the Surface 3), but it didn't help, even though those registry settings were present:
    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\PrecisionTouchPad]
    "ScrollDirection"=dword:00000000
    "EnableEdgy"=dword:00000000
    "AAPThreshold"=dword:00000002
    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\PrecisionTouchPad\Status]
    "Enabled"=dword:00000001

    So I did some looking around and it looks like there may not be independent software for the touchpad on this model. First time I've actually come across this. (Regarding disabling touchpad gestures on a Split series notebook.)
    I looked in the user guide and it talks about using gestures but no way to disable or enable them. It looks like they may not be able to be disabled on this model.

  • Automatically disabling touchpad when mouse plugged in

    Is there some way for me to configure udev so that, when I plug a USB mouse into my laptop, the laptop's touchpad gets disabled? And reenabled if I pull the mouse? The touchpadd can be a PITA when I am typing ... a slight brush of the thumb can cause a "mouse click" often moving my cursor location.
    Mark

    See the manpage of udev, quote:
    After device node creation, removal, or network device  renaming,  udev
           executes  the programs located in the directory tree under /etc/dev.d/.
           The name of a program must have the suffix .dev to be recognized.
           In addition to the hotplug environment variables, UDEV_LOG  is  set  if
           udev  is  configured  to use the syslog facility. Executed programs may
           want to follow that setting.  DEVNAME is exported to make the  name  of
           the  created node, or the name the network device is renamed to, avail-
           able to the executed program.  The  programs  in  every  directory  are
           sorted in lexical order, while the directories are searched in the fol-
           lowing order:
           /etc/dev.d/$(DEVNAME)/*.dev
           /etc/dev.d/$(SUBSYSTEM)/*.dev
           /etc/dev.d/default/*.dev

  • Touchpad disabled on KDE login

    Hi,
    this is driving me crazy: the touchpad is enabled in KDM, but during the KDE login the touchpad gets disabled. So I always have to open a konsole and do "xinput enable 12" (id of the touchpad).
    Can't figure out why it started happening.

    Not a fix, but as workaround you could add "xinput enable 12" to the kde autostart on "System settings -> Start & Shutdown [system administration section] ->  add program"
    pd: section names can vary, my kde isn't on english

  • Odd results from SQL statement in JSP

    Hi.
    Getting very strange results from my SQL statement housed in my JSP.
    the last part of it is like so:
    "SELECT DISTINCT AID, ACTIVE, REQUESTOR_NAME, ..." +
    "REQUESTOR_EMAIL" +
    " FROM CHANGE_CONTROL_ADMIN a INNER JOIN CHANGE_CONTROL_USER b " +
    "ON a.CHANGE_CTRL_ID = b.CHANGE_CTRL_ID " +
      " WHERE UPPER(REQUESTOR_NAME) LIKE ? ";   I've set the following variables and statements:
    String reqName = request.getParameter("requestor_name");
    PreparedStatement prepstmt = connection.prepareStatement(preparedQuery);
    prepstmt.setString(1, "%" + reqName.trim().toUpperCase() + "%");
    ResultSet rslts = prepstmt.executeQuery();
    rslts.next();
    int aidn = rslts.getInt(1);
    int actbox = rslts.getInt(2);     String reqname = rslts.getString(3).toUpperCase();
    String reqemails = rslts.getString(4);
    String bizct = rslts.getString(5);
    String dept = rslts.getString(6);
    String loc = rslts.getString(7);
    Date datereq = rslts.getDate(8);
    String busvp = rslts.getString(9);
    AND SO ONSo then I loop it, or try to with the following:
    <%
      try {
      while ((rslts).next()) { %>
      <tr class="style17">
        <td><%=reqname%></td><td><%=reqemails %></td><td><%=bizct %></td>td><%=dept %></td>
       <td><%=aidn %></td>
      </tr>
      <%
    rslts.close();
    selstmt.close();
    catch(Exception ex){
         ex.printStackTrace();
         log("Exception", ex);
    %>AND so on, setting 13 getXXX methods of the 16 cols in the SQL statement.
    Trouble is I'm getting wildly inconsistent results.
    For example, typing 'H' (w/o quotes) will spit out 20 duplicate records of a guy named Herman, with the rest of his corresponding info correct, just repeated for some reason.
    Typing in 'He' will bring back the record twice (2 rows of the complete result set being queried).
    However, typing in 'Her' returns nothing. I could type in 'ell' (last 3 letters of his name, Winchell) and it will again return two duplicate records, but typing in 'hell' would return nothing.
    Am I omitting something crucial from the while statement that's needed to accurately print out the results set without duplicating it and that will ensure returning it?
    There's also records in the DB that I know are there but aren't being returned. Different names (i.e. Jennifer, Jesse, Jeremy) won't be returned by typing in partial name strings like Je.
    Any insight would be largely appreciated.
    One sidenote: I can go to SQL Plus and accurately return a results set through the above query. Having said that, is it possible the JDBC driver has some kind of issue?

    Am I omitting something crucial from the while
    statement that's needed to accurately print out the
    results set without duplicating it and that will
    ensure returning it?Yes.
    In this code, nothing ever changes the value of reqname or any of the other variables.
      while ((rslts).next()) { %>
      <tr class="style17">
        <td><%=reqname%></td><td><%=reqemails %></td><td><%=bizct %></td>td><%=dept %></td>
       <td><%=aidn %></td>
      </tr>
      <%
    } You code needs to be like this:while (rslts.next()) {
      reqname = rslts.getString(3).toUpperCase();
      reqemails = rslts.getString(4);
      bizct = rslts.getString(5);
      dept = rslts.getString(6);
      loc = rslts.getString(7);
      datereq = rslts.getDate(8);
      busvp = rslts.getString(9);
    %>
      <tr class="style17">
        <td><%=reqname%></td><td><%=reqemails %></td><td><%=bizct %></td>td><%=dept %></td>
       <td><%=aidn %></td>
      </tr>
      <%
    There's also records in the DB that I know are there
    but aren't being returned. Different names (i.e.
    Jennifer, Jesse, Jeremy) won't be returned by typing
    in partial name strings like Je.Well, you're half-right, your loop won't display all the rows in the result set, because you call rslts.next(); once immediately after executing the query. That advance the result set to the first row; when the loop is entered, it starts displaying at the 2nd row (or later if there are more next() calls in the code you omitted).

  • Image Capture for Epson Scanner producing very dark results

    I recently upgraded to a new iMac running Mountain Lion. I have a new Epson Perfection v750 Pro scanner, which I use to scan film negatives. I had previously been working with this scanner on a Windows 7 PC. Using Image Capture, I am getting wildly different results -- the resulting scan is completely dark. Is there a setting that I am missing somewhere?
    I've attached a little preview picture that shows the difference between a scan of the same image, with my PC vs my Mac.

    There is no Epson scanner utility for Mountain Lion, it appears. Even Epson's FAQ defers to Image Capture and says it only provides software for image modification.
    http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/support/supDetail.jsp?BV_UseBVCookie=yes&info Type=FAQ&oid=207953&foid=214278&cat=214269&subcat=214264
    Unfortunately Image Capture completely fails to provide the service it should be expected to. The 3rd party software VueScan seems like it would be adequate once I learned how to manipulate it a little more, but ultimately the only decision I can justify is to hook up the scanner to my Windows PC and use the TWAIN-based scan utility there.
    If there's anywhere I can make an official plea to Apple to get Image Capture in a workable state, feel free to point the way.

  • Out of Sync when importing rendered sequence

    This is the first time I've had this happen and haven't been able to solve the problem yet and haven't found any solutions yet through searching. Using CS5.5, I'm building a show consisting of 7 or 8 already rendered sequences. All seem fine when put together, but one sequence is thrown way out of sync when I import it. The file plays fine otherwise and it isn't until it's imported into premiere that the problem occurs. I've tried re-rendering several times and get the same out of sync problems. And it eventually gets wildly out of sync, not just a few seconds. The properties of the clip are:
    Type: MPEG Movie
    File Size: 1.5 GB
    Image Size: 1920 x 820
    Frame Rate: 23.976
    Source Audio Format: 48000 Hz - compressed - Stereo
    Project Audio Format: 48000 Hz - 32 bit floating point - Stereo
    Total Duration: 00:04:23:09
    Average Data Rate: 6.0 MB / second
    Pixel Aspect Ratio: 1.0
    This is the same as all the other rendered/imported sequences. I'm at a loss here. Is there anyone who can help steer me to solving this?

    Welcome to the forum.
    Just so that everyone is on the same page, when you say "rendered," is it safe to assume that you mean that that file was Exported, and then is being Imported into a new Project?
    Good luck,
    Hunt
