Head tags in template generated pages, am I doing this right?

I experienced the dreaded " ... locked by ... " error message when trying to insert keywords in a page generated by a dwt file. I went to the forum and found this information:

So I enclosed the head in the cut, pasted and edited editable region markup and it seems to work. Then I used the insert html>head tags>keywords to insert some keywords and that worked, but it put the keywords at the very top of the page. As I recall, the meta info is supposed to be inside the head section, so I cut and pasted the keyword markup into the head section, I had isolated with the editible markup and it seems to work.
Not being the sharpest knife in the drawer on these matters, did I do this right? Have I set a trap for myself which will spring later on? Is there a better way? I only know to ask those who know more than I.

Use the CD. There is newer software on it.
Does it matter which computer I set up
first? If I do the airport setup utility on the old
mac, will the new mac automatically recognize it when
I turn it on?
Both macs should connect with out a problem. It doesn't matter which you setup first.
The other thing that was running through my head was
that it would actually be nicer to put the Airport
base station in my office (reduce the clutter of
stuff in the living room), but since the old mac
doesn't have a wireless card (and I don't even know
if I can get one anymore), is there some kind of USB
adapter that would work to access the signal? I've
seen a bunch of them, but most of the reviews say
they're not very mac-friendly.
You probably won't find a mac USB adapter becuase there usually aren't mac drivers. You could bring the old computer to the Apple Store and they can install a wireless card in there.

Unlocking head tag in template/procedure unclear to me

Hi,
Still battling since last friday to unlock head tag in template so that i could add an accordion in a template-based doc.
I understand that in the process of creating an accordion DW cs3 has to write something like this in head: <script src= "../Accordion/SpryMenuBar.js" type="text/javascript"></script>..."
That fact i sat editable region in my template into body only make it impossible for it to do the task, hence the error message.
Now i searched in the help doc, i found a procedure "specify editable tag attributes in a template". This procedure didnt show much helpful.
This is the steps i followed:
- opened template and, in split view, i clicked anywhere inside head
- selected head tag
- modify, templates, make attribute editable
Then nothing to select, i went by guess, nothing works and the problem still remain. And my heart still broken...

By default, your template should have an editable region in it just before the closing </head> tag. It looks like this:


Dreamweaver should be able to find that editable region and insert the <script> tag there automatically.
If you don't have an editable region like that in the <head>, open the master template, and paste the code above just before the closing </head> tag.

Trying to download CS6 on my mac pro. when i click on Download, under my orders, it brings up an error page: JRun Servlet error, 413 Header Length to Large. It's been doing this each time I've tried that last few days. What can I do to download this?

Writing tags to actual file- any disadvatage to doing this?

I have PSE 6,
I see I can actual write the tags to the image file, any reason not to do this, can this be done automatically or do you have to manual do each time ?

You have to give the command File > Write Keyword Tag every time. There are no disadvantages to doing this, other than that the command is buggy. Having the tags (and date/time, captions, notes, star rating, and map locations) written to the file's metadata makes it easier to share this information with other programs and provides a partial fall back if your catalog gets corrupted and you don't have adequate backups.

Problem inserting flv file in template generated page

I am attempting to add a page with flv videos of a client's
tv commercials. I want to use the template I have used to create
most of the other pages on the site. It works well and I have had
no problems. When I attempt to add the flv file to the page, I get
this error: "Making this change would require changing code that is
locked by a template or translator. The change will be discarded."
Just for grins, I tried dragging a jpeg onto the page and
that worked fine with no error. I use the Lynda dot com tutorials
and as far as I can tell, I am following the correct procedure.
Being now at my wits end, I will appreciate comments from those who
know much more than I.

The problem is that when you are putting the flv in a child,
when your
dialog box pops up, uncheck "Prompt useres to download Flash
Player if
neccasary"

Honeycomb some time navigating in tabs does not work. if i select tab a from tab b, the header changes but not the page. It does if i move out of app and return

using samsung p6200.
If i open multiple tabs (say more than 14) so say ifi am on 14 tab and back to 12th then it will switch properly but if i go back to first tab it wont show the webpage. some tabs will show and some wont. sometime the tab will show a type of progressive image of tab which wont get more clear. But tab switches if i move out of application and return. example i am not tab 14 say gizmodo.com and i return to tab 2 say wikipedia then it wont change the page. if i go to task manager and return back to firefox then it will show the page.

I agree that it cant be as smooth but this issue is replicable in much less tabs as well.. around 4. Also i dont see any reason not to open 14 tabs as when i run Ubuntu on sam tablet parallel to Android, i can open tabs in firefox in Ubuntu. I understand the architecture difference of green bot and ubuntu for which i hate android. i wanted to hilight that firefox is working fine but somewhere it is unable to fetch data from its cache, while when OS reloads the app from background to foreground, the cache is retrieved.

#PAGE.CUSTOMIZEPAGE# substitution tag problem on template based pages

I've created an Unstructured UI template that includes the #PAGE.CUSTOMIZEPAGE# substitution tag.
It works fine on a normal page, but it doesn't render the 'Customize' link if the page is based on a template. I know that I am authorized to customize the page, because a Portal Smart Link on the same page allows me to do just that. Does anybody know whether there are any issues with this substitution tag on template based pages? (I've used the #PAGE.EDITPAGE# tag in the same Unstructured UI Template with no problems on either normal, or template based pages.)

Just a guess, but it seems that the site uses server side includes (the shtml extension and there is a ssi include in your template). You will probably need a testserver running (like XAMPP) on your local system to preview this in a browser.

How can I insert a widget slideshow into a template-based page in Dreamweaver

HI, I Have a question that has been nagging me for the last three hours.
I have been trying to insert a slideshow into a template based document using the insert widget function in Dreamweaver CS 5.5. The problem is that I contine to get the error that
    "This widget requires code that must be inserted into the head of the current document. Insertion cannot happen because the head of this document is read only."
I have tried to edit the template file in order to make the head tag into an editable region. I have tried to resolve the problem by eliminating the
 function call and instead using the 
function, but all that does is grey out all the code on the page following the this function call. The other side effect of using this method is that the child documents do not even have a header anymore.
I do not know if this is just a lack of understanding how this works, or if there is a bug in Dreamweaver.
Any help in this subject wold be appreciated.

Unfortunately, I have tried it, but continue to recieve the same error message. I have double checked the syntax and positioning of the editable regions, and they match yours completely. In the child page everything is editable. Do you have any other suggestions for this perplexing problem? Thanks

How to inject html into a wiki generate page?

How do you put in custom HTML into a wiki generated page? Say I have a I want injected into each wiki page; where within the structure of the wiki server files am I able to do that? I figured finding the code where the <head> tag for a wiki page is created would be a good place to start, but I haven't been able to find where that is done. Any ideas? Thanks.

To add JavaScript files or XSL files to a theme:
1 Put JavaScript (.js) files or XSL (.xsl) files in this folder (shown below): /Library/Application Support/Apple/WikiServer/Themes/theme_name/ Replace theme_name with the name of the theme.
I've done this, and I can see that the javascript is available in the generated html, but I don't see in the documentation on how call the javascript function. What am I missing here?

How to print Header and footer in same page

I am using Oracle Report 10g. How can I add header and footer on same page as my body? Right now when a generate a pdf file, it is printing individual pages instead of 1 one page. Please help me.

First of all,
Unless otherwise you selected some option like page break after/before - both body and header/footer will print on same page in report, so in pdf as well.
If you have difference on report and PDF that you should look into your setup.
If you want more help, please be particular on your issue

Head Tag Refresh

I have a head tag refresh in a page, but the "Go To URL" isn't a static value; it's actually a recordset that gets the url from a table. Here's the code:
<meta http-equiv="Refresh" content="0;URL=<?php echo $row_Recordset3['redirect']; ?>" />
It works fine, but I want to add a feature whereby the head tag refresh cancels if $row_Recordset3['redirect'] is empty. As it is now, if there isn't a value for the URL, the page keeps refreshing indefinitely. How could I fix the problem? Any thoughts are appreciated.

Recipe template for pages

I want to add an existing recipe template to Pages 08, I've read the support community and downloaded suggestions,but when I try to open it states these are not pages and it will not open. Do I have to create a template from scratch or is there something out there already that I can plug in and begin using?

Access to the head tag in a portal generated page

We have a situation where we need to put some javascript in the <head> tag of a page so that it can be accessed by a javascript portlet. Any ideas?

This capability is not there in 3.0.6 and 3.0.7. In 3.0.8 (due out end of this month), we have added a template capability which allows you to assign an html template to a page. The template could contain the javascript.
In the interim, others have created an html portlet that contains the javascript, placed it on the page and turned it off by default. This works, but any user with customization rights to the page could remove it, so the title should read something like 'Do Not Remove!'
