Header is garbled

Is this a common issue that the header or footer is garbled it has many characters - It is an area that is grayed and is supposed to say Health Alerts - this is what it says
Each of my rows that have a grayed out title looks like this except the last row worked.
'  lr1:E1it - "rs.:t-J:§t92'?Btrc1t -1t:;r,; isl "?h19·r        :{ia:@\c:h ,,tc5Vff;}l ,i'·,;·H

If the MasterPage frame that contains the RHF is only one row high, and suitably short, I would expect lone text string to get clipped at the frame edge. Problem is, that might be in the middle of a character.
I'd be tempted to use a variation on the RHF trick described lately at:
http://forums.adobe.com/message/5730734#5730734
where each Heading1 has an anchored frame normally visible only to the author, containing the actual Heading1.RHF text picked for use in the header.
For most instances, each Heading1.RHF could just be an Xref to the full Heading1.
For the troublesome long Heading1's, the Heading1.RHF text would be hand-typed and shortened suitably.
> The headings can't be re-written.
In this hack, they aren't.
> I have a client ...
That's always an easy problem to fix .
If the anchored frames become an issue, you can also use the Marker trick described by Arnis in that same referenced thread. Markers take up no visible space, but might be less obvious for future document stewards to puzzle out. That person might be you .

  • How can I limit running headers to a certain number of characters?

    I have a client that has a few very long headings in their book. The headings can't be re-written. The immediate problem is that I have running headers in this book, so when Frame is using one of these long headings for the running header, the running header is garbled. The text runs all the way to the end of the line, then it starts over at the beginning of the line over the words that are already there.
    Is there a method to limit the number of characters in a running header (or does someone know of another tactic) to force the running headers to display suitably?
    I'm using Frame 9 on Windows 8. (It also occurs on Windows 7 with Frame 9.)
    Thanks in advance for your help!

  • Garbled text in Header

  • MacBook Pro 17inch - mid-2010 - screen graphics garbled

    So my screen goes garbled and I have to either turn it off and back on OR (strangely enough) drag one of the application windows around the screen like a dry eraser on a white board - for a while, there's a graphic echo, creating a cool pattern of images of the app window all over the screen, then it eventually starts to act like a dry eraser, cleaning off the 'echoes' and causing the screen to appear as normal.
    So I've seen this discussion before and seen people offer a variety of solutions. Some say it's hardware, and suggest replacing the NVIDIA card, others say try command+option+p+r. Some say it's RAM - I've noticed it does occur more often when my RAM useage is peaking (whilst watching the Activity monitor), but it doesn't always happen like that! I have 8Gb of RAM installed, so not sure how it can happen - anything more than 5 or 6 tabs open on Safari PLUS having Skype open, and the system goes crazy! Whilst the machine is registering 8GB, could it be possible one or both of the 4 GB cards are corrupt?
    I've had the logic board replaced, and the screen replaced. Haven't tried replacing the NVidia card yet.
    Have used Apple for ages but not really a techie, so not sure what info to provide to you awesome tech-heads. I"ve attached some screen-captures ...

    That is strange indeed. Yes, RAM could be at issue. If this is not the original RAM, install it. If it is, remove one module, try running; switch that same module to the other slot, try running; repeat with other module.
    The GPU cannot be replaced. It's soldered onto the logic board; thus, if you've had you logic board replaced, the GPU was replaced.

  • How to loop a script... (novice in over head?!)

    At the core of it I want to be able to change the filelink from a tif extension to an ai extension if the appropriate file exists. I can do this through a contrived search and replace on the IDML files but it scares the people who work on the files... so I'm left coming up with an InDesign script which mimics this sort of workflow. One of the InDesign scripting references I purcahsed 'InDesign CS5 Automation Using XML and Javascript' by Grant Gamble has a great script for accomplishing this. However the script is written with a single file input in mind and I'd like to extend it to handle a list of files defined by the user.
    I've tried with my sub-novice skills to loop it and I end up with a bunch of null object garble.  I've managed to modify to the point where it will open up the next document in the 'files' list but InDesign doesn't seem to reckognize its existence for lack of a better term.  At the end of the day I might be in over my head, I've struggled with this for too long so at this point I'm hoping someone can help me along and I can backtrack how their solution worked! I feel that this type of solution would help to evolve my understanding of Functions and variable scope.
    I'm likely in need of a paradigm shift! In a perfect world I would like to be able to:

    Any and all help is greatly appreciated,

    The full script runs on "the active document", and it's possible that is the point where ID gets confused. Can you re-write it as a function with *one* parameter -- the document to work on?
    Then you can do your loopy (sorry) looping like this:
    someDoc = app.open(files[i]);
    Run("other script", someDoc);
    someDoc.close(SaveOptions.YES);
    "app.open" returns a handle to the ID document once it's opened, and if you save it into a variable you can use this wherever you are using "app.activeDocument" now.

  • Airplay from PGATOUR app, audio garbled

    I was trying to airplay the PGATOUR video from the app for iPad (I have a new IPad, 16GB, WiFi + 4G), and the video played nicely but the audio was garbled.  Sounded like it was coming acorss on a tin can on a string.  The video and audio both played just fine on the iPad.  There are no issues with the TV or the AppleTV I was playing it to (played a movie and the sound was perfect).
    Any thoughts on what caused this?

    Usually these types of limitations are added by the app developer, especially with media apps like these. However I would first try Resetting the devices. I found the best way to reset the iPad is to close all apps in the recently used app list. Double tap the Home button to reveal the list at the bottom then tap and hold one icon till they wiggle and display a minus button. Tap the to close all apps them press the Home button to get back to the home screen. Hold the Sleep button till "Slide to power off" appears. Once it has shut down completely press the Sleep button till you see the Apple icon.
    The procedure is similar to resarting your computer when it starts acting flaky. iPads are just a hand head computer and rarely gets shut down or reset so it would be similar to running your computer for months at a time without shutting it down.

  • Garbled French characters in EBP

    Hi Gurus,
    I have a problem where my catalog contents are in French and the characters appear okay in CCM. However, as I add the item to my SC and bring it back to EBP, some of the characters become garbled in EBP. For example the letter ê comes in as a series of jumbled texts instead of the letter ê itself.
    The other issue I have is also garbled characters in the search header texts. Does anyone know what's causing these characters to garble like that? And how can we fix them?
    Thanks.
    SN

    Masa,
    I checked the following:
    1. SRM Server code page
    System-> Status, Unicode = No. In case of No, What is the code page? Where do I find this code page?
    2. OCI parameter http_content_charset from SRM. I have ~HTTP_CONTENT_CHARSET_ENABLED set to 1 in the ICF service for BBPSC01.
    3. Browser encoding in CCM screen. Is this where I click on the catalog name (category tree) or the following screen that lists the catalog items (product list)? What am I looking for here?
    4. OCI return encoding. Where do I find this? Use httpWatch tool?
    Does it matter if we use internal or external ITS? We use external ITS and we only have this issue in QA and not in Dev.
    Thanks.

  • Firefox is displaying pages incorrectly, spreading portions of content horizontally, while the rest of the page is okay. E.g- Amazon's header is stretched, with spaces between letters & words. Google results headings spread. Wells Fargo has problems too.

    I am using Safari to send this question, as I am upset by in Firefox on many sites, where the horizontal spacing is busted. e.g.:
    My display is 1920x1200 but still not wide enough to show the whole site horizontally in these sites! In addition, the text is all over the place.
    At https://www.wellsfargo.com/biz/ for example, it is as if Firefox is not reading the css for the text, some of which is in narrow columns and some scattered!
    Amazon.com, -- the header at the top is so wide I have to scroll to see it and many of the words have huge gaps between letters. In the home page body, most of it is okay, but down the right some items have prices that look like this: $56. 3 8
    At Google, the linked heading of the results are stretched out horizontally.... not all, but on some searches it was prevalent.
    What on earth is going on? I think I am going to try to get back an earlier version from my backup and reinstall that for the meantime... this is really a drag.
    I put amazon in the url below, but note the examples above too.

    Thanks anyway, but neither of these suggestions applies to what is happening.
    The fonts on the websites I mentioned are not garbled and fonts on my machine are not corrupted.
    The characters on the pages in question are correct, just spaced too far apart or appearing in the wrong places, e.g. scattered around the page or scrunched up in narrow columns.
    In addition, portions of some web sites are enormously stretched horizontally, too, which leaves long horizontal gaps in between some words and characters.... and also makes it so that even my 1920x1200 monitor can't display, for example, the top header of Amazon.com without horizontal scrolling. Other portions of that page are a normal width, but I have to scroll way over to log in or find "view cart".
    It seems to me more like the css for those sites is not being read or interpreted correctly.
    Also, some sites appear normal, while others display these problems.
    Something like this is happening in Safari too, though, I have discovered. Hmmm.
    I should mention, too, that the sites look normal in an old version of Firefox I happen to have on an older Mac here, version 2.0.20. It's obsolete for some things, true, but it displays these problem sites perfectly.
    And the problem does NOT happen in Opera at all (latest version)!
    All the sites I gave as examples look completely normal in Opera!
    Hmmm. I will have to start browsing with Opera, it appears if I can't find the answer.... :-( I usually only use it to check pages I have designed.

  • Mail messages appear garbled in some parts of the text.

    I carried out the upgrade this morning as it was suggested I do this.
    Now at least some messages are appearing with garbled text BUT not the whole page.
    when I say garbled I mean some text is overlapping other parts.
    Looking at one particular message it appears as if the 'footer' is overlapping midway up the message.
    I have a screen shot but how do I add it as a pictures saves a thousand words?
    What is going on and how can I fix it please.

    A few remarks:
    - place the cfparam code lines out of the cfdocument tag;
    - remove the link tag from within cfdocument. The link tag
    may only appear in the head section of the page;
    - remove the cfoutput tag. It is apparently unnecessary;
    - remove the long comment lines <!------------ ...
    -------------->. If you need to break the document up into
    sections, use the cfdocumentsection tag. A previous thread contains
    an
    example of using cfdocumentsection and cfdocumentitem tags for
    section and page flow.
    added: You should consider installing the
    Coldfusion
    MX 7 hotfixes if you haven't done so yet. One of the fixes is
    for cfdocument's text cut-off problems.

    There is nothing you can do to fix such problems on an iphone other than to try switching the language of your OS. Best report the problem to Apple via

  • Garbled mouse on second screen with ati

    Hello,
    just finished a fresh install of arch on my desktop, it has a ati radeon 5700 and i would like to use 2 screens. After a while of tinkering and looking through the wiki and the aticonfig man page i managed to get both of my screens working with the command "aticonfig --initial=dual-head resolution=0,1280x1024 resolution=1,1024x786" or something very similar to that( sorry on laptop and cant remeber exact command). I could not get it to work until i manually set the resolutions. After that i installed dwm and everything started up fine and its usable however on the second screen my mouse becomes a big garbled square of pixels, it looks fine on whichever screen is set as 0 though.
    thanks in advance for any help.

    Well, I'm configuring everything today and making it all pretty, so I'll see if changing the pointer theme fixes it.
    Thanks a bunch for the help.

  • Garbled messages

    We are using JavaMail api to send emails through SMTP. The messages we send are in HTML format. It works fine normally but occassionally we are getting garbled messages. The content itself looks fine (without any special characters etc.). One peculiar thing is many of the email addresses in the To list appear as part of mail body in this garbled mails. After the list of addresses, following kind of text appears:
    Mime-Version: 1.0
    Content-Type: multipart/mixed;
    boundary="----=_Part_15_7597281.1166030716159"
    We use Oracle 9i AS. Is it any bug in api implementation?
    Please let me know if anyone has faced this before and found a solution.
    regards,
    Kamesh

    You've probably included a newline in the Subject text or in the
    personal name used with one of the addresses. This will cause
    a blank line to be inserted in the header, which ends the header,
    causing all the following text to appear as the body of the message.

  • FForeign Characters = Garbled HTML

    My daughter has a MacBook Pro. In the past, she's used her PC to upload HTML pages from MS Word docs for her internet Spanish students. These docs contain accented letters, etc.
    Everything works fine from her PC, but the Spanish characters show as boxes or other (wrong) characters when she uploads the HTML file from her Mac. The HTML files generated by Word look fine on her Mac screen, but they get scrambled during the upload. She's using the college's WebCT software to handle uploads.
    When she downloads the Mac-generated HTML from WebCT in DOC format and reposts it as HTML from a PC, it works fine.
    I know she can save the files as PDFs, but most of her students are stretching their internet abilities just opening web pages; they shouldn't have to resize a PDF that opens in another window. And, yes, she can reboot using Bootcamp and use PC Word, but things are supposed to be easier on the Mac, not harder.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    Andy Tubbesing

    Without knowing more, it is difficult to say exactly what the problem is, but it is likely with the character encoding, which is specified in the "head" of the html document, like this
    <meta http-equiv="content-type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" />
    My guess is that the encoding that her copy of word is using does not contain these Spanish characters.
    You can specify the character encoding. File > Save as Web Page > Web Options, then click the "Encoding" tab and try selecting unicode (UTF-8). This may work better. Unicode contains almost all characters from almost all languages.
    Can you post a link to a garbled html page?

  • IMail Message Header "Bug"

    Is anyone having trouble with the message header formatting on iMail?
    The "To" and "From" fields appear to be laying ontop of the information on the content field directly below.
    Is there a patch? Or do I need to reinstall Tiger?
    Is this glitch due to my have an Intel iMac?
    Outside of this I simply love this machine.
    Thanks!

    Actually I fixed the problem this morning. For some reason uploading all those fonts actually disabled Helvetica. When I enabled Helvetica, it fixed the Message Header problem, but some the message text got garbled. I then went into the Helvetica family and disabled Helvetica Fractions. Now every thing is back to normal.
    I'm not which OSX needs but quite a few applications I have run into now look and work a lot better since Helvetica was enabled.
