Header & TOC style in Pdf

Hi everyone,
I have two questions regarding pdf generated document.
1. When I generate a pdf file a Header with the document name is automatically generated, how can I remove this Header ?
2. Can I change the style of the TOC generated ? I would like to add blank spaces before my titles defined as Heading 1 ?
Thank you for your help !

You need to create a Word document instead, edit that as required and then produce the PDF.

  • Heading 3 Style Bookmarks not jumping to correct topics with Acrobat X

    Hi,
    When creating a PDF from Word, the Heading 3 style (native to Word) is creating Bookmarks that jump to the Copyright Page of the document (Page 1 per the Properties dialog box).
    I checked the Word file for something suspicious, but didn't see anything.
    Wondering if anyone has come across this with Acrobax X. I have the latest patch.

    Some partial answers to some of my questions:
    They were conveniently all in one menu, and it's very easy to tell someone, "Go to the menu bar and choose Advanced > Print Production > Output Preview."
    But in Acrobat X, by default these choices aren't visible. It appears necessary to click Tools, which dramatically reduces the document width available), Print Production, and then choose from the Panel.
    Since this user interface isn't standard, it's harder to describe to new users, and keeping Tools open wastes a lot of screen space.
    It doesn't address the real estate issue, but at least one can describe to users they should View > Tools > Print Production and then deal with the subsequent tools pane that appears and therein click Output Preview.
    Another concern is the new interface seems to have destroyed the discoverability of keyboard shortcuts. For instance, in Acrobat 9, Document > Delete Pages was clearly bound to Command-Shift-D.But in Acrobat 10, how are you supposed to find the keybinding? It is not even in the tooltip
    In fact, it doesn't seem to be in the help under Keyboard shortcuts, or anywhere else in the help that I could find!
    OK
    in the "Page Thumbnails" "Navigation Pane" (formerly"Pages"; still F4) the right-click context menu has these shortcuts. As does what I guess is the "options" menu (analagous to a "flyout" menu but its in the upper-left of the pane rather than the upper-right).  This isn't all that great since every icon leading to a functino should show the same keyboard binding, but it's nice to know it is somewhere...

  • Two different TOC styles in one Pages document?

    I'm a new Pages 2.0.2 user with a large document with two different tables of contents 20 pages apart. I'm trying to format them differently using different TOC styles but when I change one's style the other one changes as well. Anything I do format-wise to one goes over to the other as well. I'm hoping this is just something I have yet to learn about the product. Any thoughts?

    Hi
    Someone else might know but this doesn't look good, taken from Pages Help:
    "Changing the appearance of text in a table of contents
    You can change the appearance of text in a table of contents and also add a leader line between a TOC heading and its associated page number.
    To change the appearance of text in a table of contents:
    Select the TOC heading you want to change. When you select a TOC heading, all the entries of the same heading type are automatically selected; headings cannot be individually selected.
    Click View in the toolbar, and then choose Show Styles Drawer.
    The Styles drawer displays a list of table of contents (TOC) styles. The TOC style that corresponds to the selected entry type is also selected.
    Do one or more of the following:
    To change the appearance of text, change it as you would format any paragraph text. For example, choose Format > Font or use the Text Inspector to make edits.
    To create leader lines from a TOC heading to its associated page number, click Inspector in the toolbar, click the Text Inspector button, and then click Tabs. Click the value for the TOC in the Tab Stops list, and then choose a line style from the Leader pop-up menu."

  • Table of Contents Issue - TOC Styles Set Correctly, but TOC Shows Two Fonts on One TOC Line

    I created a template and set up all of the styles correctly, as with every other template I've ever made.  However, I have never run into this problem before.
    I created the template to match a client's style/look.  They use a font called "Gill Sans MT."  My Normal style is set to this, and my TOC styles (TOC 1, TOC 2, TOC 3, etc.) are based off of the Normal style.  My Heading styles are
    also based off the Normal style and use the same font.
    For some reason, the TOC in the document is populating with two different styles.  The actual Heading text is showing up as Arial font, but the tab leader and the page number are showing up in the Gill Sans MT font (see below).
    Any idea what's going on here?  I have tried modifying the TOC styles, inserting a new TOC, basing the TOC styles off of "(no style)," changing the Heading styles, clearing the formatting on the Heading styles, etc.  I can't get anything
    to work.

    All I can suggest is to try your steps again. You mention everything that I would try.
    I assume that the template is a .dotx or .dotm file, and so, does not have an "attached template."
    When you tried basing your TOC styles off "no style" I assume you set the font to Gill Sans MT. I would definitely have the heading and TOC styles set to cascade.

  • Why do text variables using Running Header character style translate forced returns as a word space in the running head on the first page but close up the space on subsequent pages?

    In an InDesign document that requires 3 different Chapter head paragraph styles (to cope with differrent length headings) I've set up the running heads on the master page with a text variable using the Running header (character style) option. The character style I've assigned to this is an empty character style that is applied to all 3 chapter head paragraph styles.
    Some chapter heads require a forced line break, so that the line breaks are aethesically pleasing. On the first page the text variable translates this forced line break as a word space in the running head, but on subsequent pages it ignores the forced line break. This means that if you have a word space before the forced line break, on the first page you get a double word space and on subsequent pages the running head sets correctly with a single word space. But if you remove the word space before the forced line break in the chapter head text, the first running head sets correctly with forced line break interpreted as a single word space, but on subsequest pages the space is closed up.
    This only seems to be a problem when the character style option is used for header text variables. If a paragraph style is used the forrced line break is interpreted as a a single word space in all instances, both on the foirst page and subsequent pages.
    This would appear to be a bug in how text variables are applied when using the Running header (character style) option. I can't see any other reason why the text variable would beheave differently on the first page and on subsequent pages. There is only one master page, so it isn't a case of their being an error between a main master page and a chapter opener master page.
    Does anyone have any solutionss, or know if this problem has been fixed in subsequent releases of InDesign (I'm using CS6 ID version 8.0)
    Thanks

  • Header / Footer in Analysis PDF

    Hello,
    I'm trying to add a default header / footer to all pdf generated by Analysis.
    I looked at the section "18.6.2.1 Adding a Default Header or Footer to New Analyses" in OBIEE system administrator guide and followed exatcly the steps.
    I created a new file like this and restarted the server:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
    <WebMessageTables xmlns:sawm="com.siebel.analytics.web.messageSystem">
    <WebMessageTable system="Answers" table="ViewDefaults">
    <WebMessage name="kuiCriteriaDefaultViewElements" translate="no"><HTML>
    <view signature="compoundView" >
    <pageProps pageSize="a4">
    <pageFooter showOnDashboard="true" show="true">
    <zone type="top"><caption>Acme Confidential</caption>
    <displayFormat fontColor="#FF0000"/></zone>
    </pageFooter>
    </pageProps>
    </view>
    </HTML>
    </WebMessage>
    </WebMessageTable>
    </WebMessageTables>
    The problem is that when I do a new analysis, when clicking results tab, it appears an error "Bad XML Instance .......... Line:2 Col:811, Unresolved type 'saw:top' found in xsi:type handling"
    Does anyone know how to solve this problem ?
    Many thanks
    Victor

    Hello,
    I could get it work by changing the zone tag from <zone type="top"> to <zone type>
    Now I can see the footer in the compound layout. But when I export a pdf file the footer is not shown !!
    Anyone ?

  • New character style not showing up in TOC style

    I created a new character style called Subchapter....
    Then I went to layout>toc styles.. and hit [new]. Under "Style" my new character style "Subchapter" is not there. Also, under the "Styles in Table of Contents....include paragraph styles.." my new character style "Subchapter" is not in the other styles list.
    What am I missing?
    Thanks.
    Also, forgot to mention, I am in book mode at this point. Maybe I need to add that new character style to each .IDD chapter of the book?

    NEvermind, it was because I was making a character style, not a paragraph style. Now it shows up.
    Thanks anyways.

  • Is there a way to allow for two lines in "running header (character style)" text variable?

    In my "running header (character style)" text variables, some of the items are quite long and take up more space in my header than I have room for - because I have another "running header (character style)" text variable beside it - and I am trying to figure out if there is a way to force that text variable to go into two lines when it runs out of space.
    Does anyone know if this is possible?

    Sadly, only by adding a forced line break in the variable. Adobe’s engineers are unable to allow long variables to break at the end of a line. Sad, since this is a feature I remember from a Macintosh word processor I used in 1988.

  • TOC freakiness: Loading TOC style from other document reset my par styles [CS4]

    I loaded a TOC style into my layout (from a template doc), only to find that all my text formatting had reverted to that used in said other doc.
    This even affected styles not used in the TOC, such as body text.
    It appears that instead of just loading the TOC style, it is loading (and replacing) paragraph styles as well.
    Anyone else have this problem? Looks to me like a bug.

    Aaron,
    You probably already checked on this but, if some or all of your styles are Based On the paragraph style known as Basic Paragraph, then you could have this unfortunately fatal accident?

  • TOC style template for epubs - where is it stored?

    Hello,
    some years ago I saved 3 different toc styles for my epubs. Now I added some more (for 2 levels etc.). This new ones also I saved.
    But when I start to build the epub in the first option windows at the point TOC style navigation there are still the old three templates to select. I'm not able to choose the new ones.
    Now I deleted in every dokument file the three old TOC styles by using the usual TOC tool. But in the epub-generator these templates are still there. With the result: the epub toc wich will be generated is wrong.
    Where are these templates stored?
    I use ID CC 2014.
    Thanks
    Detlef

    Hi Anshul,
    Thanks for your help. I export to epub 2.01 reflowable.
    For dokuments that might be so. But I do it with books and I deleted the TOC styles in ALL documents but it was still there in the list. Also I created a new book with all new dokuments, generates on TOC style in the first document and in the export option list there were the Default style only. It is not to figure out, where ID ist looking for that?

  • TOC style issue

    I'm working toward converting my book to an ePub.
    So, I created a new TOC style to pick up both the chapter number and chapter title on level 1.
    But the new TOC style only appears as an option with my TOC doc open. The new style doesn't appear as an option in my book chapter files.
    Is there a way to make the new TOC style available when opening another doc in my book?

    I would appreciate some clarification.
    I've attached a few screenshots.
    My style source is 03_chapter. So, do you mean to simply select the TOC doc as shown below, and then synchronize? Also, how would I know if the other styles in the TOC file are defined correctly?
    Thanks.
    All except Master Pages are checked.

  • TOC Style

    Though the TOC Style "Always Show Selection" has been checked but still in the generated chm file using RoboHelp 10 does not close the book.  When a user navigates from one link to another from topics, the related topic is not displayed.  The other books remain open, the related book from where the html file gets displayed is not displayed.  Can anyone help me with this.

    What you are showing is a webhelp window. In theSSL pod, set Microsoft HTML help to be the default, unless you are using Rh10. Then go the Project Set Up pod and create a new window, in Rh 10 you will get an option for the window type.
    In the new window you will see the required option.
    Make sure you select that window when generating the help.

  • Is it is possible to identify Heading level, Title, Header, Footer, Paragraph in PDF using SDk or Script

    Hi Friends
                 Is it is possible to identify Heading level, Title, Header, Footer, Paragraph in PDF using SDK or Script

    In an ordinary PDF there is nothing to identify, the information does not exist. Just text at locations, the structure is entirely in the mind of the viewer. For tagged PDFs, yes. This requires a very detailed knowledge of the PDF spec and tagging, and writing a plug-in in C/C++. And of course it requires that the tagging is correct. Since tagging is often added automatically, it is often useless for real structural info. Who thought it was a good idea to tag automatically...!

  • Converting Word 2007 Styles to PDF

    I just upgraded to word 2007. I don't have the PDF Maker for word installed (where you see the Acrobat option on the toolbar in word), and not sure it will install with 2007. So the first question is: Does it? Second question. If you can install PDF Maker with Word 2007, How do you go about doing it? Reinstall Acrobat? (note: I have acrobat 8 professional) And finally the third question is: if PDF Maker can't be installed to work with Word 2007, how do you automatically convert word 2007 Styles into PDF bookmarks. I'd rather not have to recreate them all after creating the PDF.
    Thanks in advance.
    Rob

    Aha! That was the missing piece. After the 8.1.2 update, I now see the Acrobat toolbar in word. All set! I was freaking out when I didn't see the toolbar, but did see the acrobat macro in word. Phew.
    Thanks for your help!
