Headers and tabs are almost illegible in default Dell theme on Win7

I have a Dell Studio XPS laptop, Win7 64-bit, 1920 * 1080 screen. It uses the default Dell theme, of which I think the key item in reproducing this issues is the 'Frost' Window Color, with Transparency on.
On the FF4 Beta 5, and the Beta 4 before it, this affects not just the very top line of the screen (Title Bar? - the one with the min/max/X buttons on it, anyway), but also the FF headers, down to and including the tabs.
They appear as dark gray (except for the one currently selected tab), the screen behind shows through quite a bit, and they are very hard to see and to read.
No other software I have does this except on the title bar, AFAIR.
I tried altering the Control Panel/Personalization settings, and I can get something that makes FF4 usable, but it's not as nice as the default Dell theme, and affects every screen I use. I don't want to do that just because FF4, alone, needs it.
Accordingly, for now, I've gone back to FF3.6.9; that has the semi-transparent Title Bar, which is fine, and legible headers/tab lines whose colours seem to be FF-chosen, and which are opaque, and nicely readable, on the default Dell theme.
So: is this FF4 transparent headers/tabs a mistake;
or a design decision that happens to interact badly with my Dell theme;
or something customisable in FF4 in someplace I don't know where to find it?
All help gratefully received.

No different in Beta 6, alas.

It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer for just such an occasion.
Use your backup copy to put everything back.

I restored my iPad and all my pictures and videos are gone how do I get them back?

Well, when you restore your ipad, there is really no way to get the information back. The reason you restore it i to get all of the information off of it. Why did you restore it if you wanted to keep the info?
Aa far as I know, there is no way to un-restore any device. But, you can put the info back onto the device if it was on your computer, etc.
    Sorry...

video files of type *.flv and *.f4v are considered Flash files, how play them (win7) are files in file windows explorer?

Not sure what you are saying; are these local or online files?
Adobe does not longer provide Adobe Media Player to play local files; use a 3rd-party player like VLC Media Player.

  • Column headers and data are mismatched in Data tab of views after move col.

    Hi,
Currently, I am using Windows XP, SQL Developer Version 1.2.1 Build Main 32.13.
    Java platform 1.5.0_06
    Oracle IDE 1.2.1.3213
I'm having trouble with display of data from views in the "Data" tab of SQL Developer. If I move a column left or right of its original place, the data no longer line up with the proper column heading. The data are in the correct order, but the column headers are out of whack. Also, in the Single Record View, the data and column headers are mismatched.
Refreshing the view, closing the view, closing and reopening SQL Developer do not "reset" the view so that the data and proper column headers are lined up. Even dropping and recreating the view does not force SQL Developer to use the proper data-column header match.
Just to be clear, the data within the view is fine. It is the display of the data-column headers in the "Data" tab of SQL Developer (and the single record view) that is wrong. The mismatch seems to occur after a column is moved in the view.
Is this a bug? I like the ability to move columns around within the display of the view. However, much more important that the column headers and data line up correctly.
    Thanks,
    Morgan

Thanks much. I found the correct file, deleted it, and the column headers and data match up again.
I found the correct file by searching the directory for one of the column names that occurs in the view (though I had to find both instances of "COLUMN_NAME" and "COLUMN NAME" (without the underscore)). Not sure why there were files with both versions.
Do you know if there is any way to prevent those XXXXXXXXXTableSettings.xml files from writing all together (oracle.javatools.controls.nicetable.NiceTablePersistentSettings)? I looked through the SQL Developer preferences but nothing jumped out as being the setting to switch off.
Should I be doing anything in particular to bring more attention to this potential bug so it might get fixed in a future release?
    Thanks again,
    Morgan

  • Close tab groups actually closes tabs rather than just the grouping. How do I recover all tabs, not just the last 10? Pages and tabs are not in recent history.

I had a problem with tab groups - if I mistakenly close tab groups, I can only recover the last 10 tabs.
I had a window with many more than 10 tabs which I reopened each session by going to History > Recently Closed Windows. I knew this was risky - I could lose this if I did not keep it in an open window or recently closed window. So I was looking for a way to save this window with all the tabs. I looked into tab groups and, not knowing what I was doing, I closed the groups of tabs. There seems to be no recovery for other than the last 10 tabs. And open tabs are not necessarily in recent history if I have not accessed the tab and refreshed.

I don't use tab groups myself, but I know of a way to increase the number of closed tabs that Firefox remembers. Unfortunately, it's not retroactive...
    (1) In a new tab, type or paste '''about:config''' in the address bar and press Enter. Click the button promising to be careful.
    (2) In the search box above the list, type or paste '''sess''' and pause while the list is filtered
    (3) Double-click the following preferences and enter the preferred new value:
    (A) '''browser.sessionstore.max_tabs_undo''' (default: 10)
    (B) '''browser.sessionstore.max_windows_undo''' (default: 3)
Regarding what is in history, by default, Firefox will load tabs on demand when you restore a session, rather than loading every single tab immediately. If you turned off that setting, or if you visited all the tabs, then those pages should be in history, but finding them amidst all the others would be quite a challenge...

  • [S] Firefox hangs on KDE install after all windows and tabs are closed

When I launch Firefox from KDE, the process hangs around consuming ~70-100% CPU of at least one core after closing all windows and tabs. We have to kill the process manually or say File->Quit and issue the real exit command instead of just closing all tabs. I ran strace and found that Firefox is poll()ing something as fast as it can after all windows are destroyed, causing the CPU increase. Anyone know how I can fix this? I've already tried a different profile and pacman -Rnd to no effect.

I've solved this by removing gtk-qt-engine; without gtk-qt-engine, firefox behaves as expected.

  • Why did you go to a DOS format for headers and tabs?

This new interface is horrendous!!! Tiny white type on a blue background? You have got to be KIDDING ME. DOS went out in the 70's, people!!! And using white on gray in the search bar?
I tried downloading the add-on to "revert to normal" and instead, I get black type on a very dark gray background.
This new "update" really screwed the proverbial pooch. I am sure if you are 12-years-old you can see the type in the tabs and the stupid white on blue of the menu bar, but for grownups? Not so much. I shouldn't have to get out a magnifying glass to see my tabs.
Is there any way to fix this, or do I simply port all my bookmarks to Chrome and give up on Mozilla all together?

I found that after Firefox v29, a LOT of my settings and<BR>
    add-ons were changed / reset. Try this;
'''''[https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-firefox-issues-using-safe-mode Start Firefox in Safe Mode]'''''
<BR>While you are in safe mode;<BR>
    '''''Firefox Options > Advanced > General'''''.<BR>
Look for and turn off '''Use Hardware Acceleration'''.<BR>
Then check ALL of your settings. Browser and add-ons. Then restart.

First, you can terminate a running Firefox process using the Task Manager.
    Ctrl+Shift+Esc to launch it
Usually by this time, Firefox is no longer listed on the Applications tab, but if it is, try terminating it there.
Click the Processes tab and look for both of these:
plugin-container.exe (used to run Flash and many other plugins)<br>
    firefox.exe
Click each and then click End Process.
After that, you can close the Task Manager and you should be able to start Firefox.
As for why that happens, you could check this article: [[Firefox hangs or is not responding - How to fix]] -- skip to the section awkwardly entitled "Firefox hangs when you quit it"

  • Safari 1.3.1 and tabs are very slow

I just upgraded to 10.3.9 and then downloaded Safari 1.3.1 (v312.3).
Now suddenly i am having new problems both with my tabs and with the way photos load on a page.
For tabs: if i am loading 3 or 4 tabs at once, and click between them just to see how much is loaded, i see the same screen image (usually the first one i click on) appear in all the tabs until each screen is totally loaded. Very annoying.
For Loading: especially a site with several photos. often they load on top of one another, so i can only see the top one. And yet, every time I click the reload button, the site reloads showing the photos in their normal positions in rows and columns.
these problems never occurred until i upgraded to 10.3.9 and the new Safari. Can somebody tell me if Apple is going to release a new version of Safari that fixes these bugs?

Yes. The "Integrate with Internet Browsers" function in the iGetter Tools menu is ON.
Sorry. I'll mark this topic as answered even is NOT true because I make mistake and post it TWICE.

  • Gmail crashes safari and tabs are messed up

Ever since I got a new MacBook Pro with Lion (transferred everything over from my old MacBook pro which was running 10.6), Safari has been really flaky.  Most of the problems seem to be when I'm using Gmail.  Safari will freeze, crash, log me out of gmail.  Happens a few times a day, even if I"m running nothing else.  I already turned all extensions off and i've done every update apple has offered.
An additional problem is that sometimes Safari gets my tabs confused.  As in I'm looking at one tab, click on another one and it appears to switch to that tab but the page displayed is the one I was just on.  And whatever I was looking at on that 'replaced' tab is no longer available.
Any advice or things to try would be warmly welcomed.  I have no idea what I can even try to fix it.  I don't want to switch back to firefox, i ditched that for being slower than molasses a few months ago.

Could be a third party plugin causing Safari to crash >  Safari: Unsupported third-party add-ons may cause Safari to unexpectedly quit or have performance issues
Deleteing Google cookies may help the gmail issue.
Go to Safari / Preferences - Privacy. Click Details.
    Delete all Google/gmail related cookies.
And for the tabs issue try troubleshooting the Safari .plist  (preferences)
Go to ~/Library/Preferences. Move the com.apple.Safari.plist file from the Preferences folder to the Desktop.
Quit then relaunch Safari to test. If that helped, move the .plist file to the Trash.
~ (Tilde) character represents your Home folder.
For LIon:   To find the Home folder in OS X Lion, open the Finder, hold the Option key, and choose Go > Library
If nothing above has helped, post a crash report.
If Safari has just crashed, press the Report button on the CrashReporter dialog box to view the crash  information.
Copy/paste the entire contents of the Crash Reporter window into your reply. If the crash report dialog does not appear or the crash is hard to reproduce, crash logs can be retrieved from the ~/Library/Logs/CrashReporter> folder.

  • Firefox 36.0.4 randomly crashes without warning and especially when mutiple windows and tabs are open-never happened earlier, very frequent now.

I am currently researching for an article to write and consequently have many PDFs open simultaneously. I use the Foxit PDF plug in.
However, I've been doing this for very long now and have never faced such crashes where all my windows close without a warning despite there being no other processes running. I get no warning whatsoever. I usually also have YouTube and Gmail open as well. The crashes have happened far too frequently in the past 4-5 days for me to ignore it and assume it to be a rare fault.

enter the menu go to help or ? and start with addons disabled. if it still doesnt work follow this description https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/firefox-crashes-troubleshoot-prevent-and-get-help

  • After several hours of inactivity, the tabs are blank with noway to tell them apart without clicking on them. also the menu bar is there but the words 'File Edit View History Bookmarks Tools Help' are blank. also the drop down menus are blank.

The links are there. I can click on them. I'm just can not see what I'm clicking on. The info on the tabs comes back but only when I click on that tab. rebooting every 24 hours fixes the problem temporarily.

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
    * Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.
    See:

  • App tabs will not save. when close then open ff, the app tabs are gone. how do I save them?

Every time i set up some app tabs, they disappear when I close ff. So upon reopen, have to set them up again, just to disappear again when i close ff. I thought once setup, they stay until deleted. Am I wrong on this? If they are supposed to show up after closing, it is not working on my pc. Running windows xp service pack 3.

The add-on "app-tab initializer" 0.2 fixed it for me. You define your preferred app tabs and it opens them each time firefox is launched.
