Headers are transfering to new pages

Question

headers are transfering to new pages. i cannot change headers on one page without doing exactly the same on all pages. the cursor is flashing on all headers on each page..thanks

"Headers" is short for "running headers", which is what they do.
A running header is a piece of text (or text plus logo or other graphic) that is to appear on every page of a section of a document.
Pages offers the ability to insert the page number as part of the header, to place a different header on left and right pages of a book (by specifying 'facing pages'), and to omit the header (or use a different one) on the first page of a section.
You can also set new headers for each section of the documnt.
Unless section breaks have been inserted by the user (you), or the user has inserted sections using the +section button in the toolbar, a word processing document will contain only one section, and the same header will continue through the entire document. As there is only one section, the "use previous headers and footers" checkbox will have no effect, whether checked or not.
If you want a different heading for each page, then a header is not the appropriate tool. Use a text box, inserted on each page using the 'text box' button, filled with the appropriate text for that page, and placed wherever you want it to be.

I strongly recommend reading at least the first 6 chapters of this guide to get a basic understanding of Pages (and of word processing applications in general), then keeping the rest as a reference for when you need information on a specific question.
