hey everybody i just bought an ibook g4 a few days ago and i love it. i am heading overseas to italy to stay with some family for the summer. and i wanted to know if i would be able to get wireless internet there or if there is wi-fi if my airport extreme card would pick it up. thanks for your help!

HELP! I need some help from true Mac fans! What should I buy???
So, I'm moving to Japan, which has a couple of implications (other than the fact that my wife's parents and my parents are looking for any legal recourse to stop us from taking their only grandchild out of the country). More importantly however, I have had to sell my B&O TV and music system (different signals from the UK where we now live). I also decided to sell our stereo (or rather my wife decided it was too bulky so as long as it was not in the living room or bedroom I could keep it...). Finally, I need a new laptop for personal use. I have some friends that are absolute mac fans, who have convinced me to go over to the other side (i.e. yours).
The opportunity I now have is to create a complete system as I need a laptop, something to play my music, a TV, etc. Given I am starting from a clean sheet I was hoping somebody out there could help me 'design' a complete set-up. My wife and I are keen photographers (both photography and video), we like listening to music, and watching movies (we definitely need a region-free DVD player), so what should we buy?
Any input would be hugely appreciated.OSX also supports IME right out of the box.

It sets up pretty well, too; I like it more than Mircrosoft's implementation (language bar).
Only thing to keep in mind is where you buy the MacBook; if you get it in Japan you'll get a Japanese keyboard, which displays most of the kana alongside the keys. You also get the conversion and switch keys on the keyboard itself, which is great.
The MacBook Power Unit is multi-voltage, so no matter where you pick it up the worst you need is a plug adapter; although getting one from apple would be best. Just don't think you need to buy a new power unit, only the plug and cable. -
I need some help on the mac mini...
Ok I am almost completely sold on the Mac Mini... I just need a little help on
the configureations. I want to know how big of a hard drive I should go with, and how much memory to get. I would mainly be using this Mac for my music collection (500 songs max) and a movie collection (20 movies). Any ideas? Thanks.What may be more cost effective is to get the smaller hard drive in the mini and get 2 external drives. It will 1) be much cheaper than getting a large internal HD for your comp 2) it will give you the opportunity to back up all your stuff, considering you should always have a backup 3) these external drives run at 7200rpm, whereas the drive in your mini runs at only 5400 rpm, thus meaning that you can access your files more quickly and your system will run faster. you can keep all your system stuff on the internal and if you get two external HD's, you can use one of them as the main drive to store your movies and such, and the second to back it all up. Also, I don't agree with the poster who said get as fast of a CPU as you can afford. The difference between the 1.66 and the 1.83 is negligible at best. The average user would never be able to tell the difference. The premium you are paying for is the upgrade from the combo drive to the superdrive. So, unless you plan on burning a bunch of DVD's, you don't really need the superdrive. AND if you plan on burning a lot of DVD's, you'd be better off with an external FW media drive anyways, because the superdrives are very finnicky.
Buying two of these drives costs you less than upgrading to a 160 GB internal HD in the mini. SO, my advice would be to get the lower end model, with 2GB of RAM. Buy two of the external HDD's that I linked, and if you need a DVD burner, buy one like this

To compare, Option 1 would be the 1.83 Mini with 2 gigs of RAM and the 160GB hard drive for $1249
Option 2 would be the 1.66 Mini with 2 gigs of RAM and stock HD for $849 + $220 for two 250 GB external Firewire Hard drives + $65 for an external FW DVD burner = $1134
In my opinion, option 2 blows option 1 out of the water. Also, i always recommend 2GB of RAM, but 1GB will probably be sufficient if you need to save some money. -

Try This:
1. Download Airport Setup for Windows and Install (v5.3.1.9)

2. Connect your DSL or cable modem to the Ethernet port on your AirPort Express.
3. Open AirPort Utility, select your AirPort Express, and click Continue.
4. Follow the on screen directions
5. If you have a cable modem which is also used for a phone line, you might have a problem with the cable modem assigning a valid DHCP number. This happened to me and unplugging the modem does no good because it has a battery. If this is your case, you will have to unplug the cable modem and remove the battery, then replace the battery, hook back to the Airport express and plug back in.
6. If none of these things help, then post back and I'll see if I can help you figure it out.

I need some help.... I Have the iPhone 4S and downloaded the new software (6.0) and everything seems great so far except when I try to open a link in safari from a different app (ie..messages, Facebook, ect..) it glitches and won't load. The blue loading bar will just jump back and forth and the page will not load properly if at all....
It sounds like you may have multiple problems, but none of them are likely to be caused by malware.
First, the internet-related issues may be related to adware or a network compromise. I tend to lean more towards the latter, based on your description of the problem. See:

If investigation shows that this is not a network-specific issue, then it's probably adware. See my Adware Removal Guide for help finding and removing it. Note that you mention AdBlock as if it should have prevented this, but it's important to understand that ad blockers do not protect you against adware in any way. Neither would any kind of anti-virus software, which often doesn't detect adware.
As for the other issues, it sounds like you've got some serious corruption. I would be inclined to say it sounds like a failing drive, except it sounds like you just got it replaced. How did you get all your files back after the new drive was installed?

Need some help activating my face time on my new phone. Am overseas and not in phone range so trouble shooting is difficult
I maybe completely off base (i don't have t-mobile) but it was my understanding that you would still need a 'data' plan for a) most of the applications to work and b) to receive service books etc and that the wi-fi would only give you access to 'website' and not the email etc.
If the unit is rebooting, then it would be sign of a bad BB, I would recommend reinstalling the OS using the desktop manager but if you just got the unit and are still in the 15-30 day period (not sure how long t-mobile does a return) I would ask for a replacement unit.
Again, not sure on the top part so hopefully someone else may have an answer for you. -

On both a MacBook Pro, an Acer laptop and my Mac Tower. I would love to think that it is a problem with the playback system, and that if I merely send the file off to the duplicator they won't have the same problem. Maybe that is the case...I don't know if I have a choice rather than sending it off to see. But it happens in the same spots, in the same way, on all three of the players so I'm a little reluctant to have faith.

Of course, but in the case there is no more 'original project.' It is gone like the wind, stolen along with his computer and backups.
I think I am stuck using one of two files as my master: a DVD he burned where I only see the stutter/vibration/jitter once, or the mpeg2 file where I see it three times. Hopefully, the duplication house can rip if off of one of them and not see the jitter. I know that in audio, my personal filed, you can do a lot to enhance already existing sound--EQ, compression, tape saturation emulation software, etc. I guess I'm hoping there is some kind of analog to the video world that address jitter after a source has been printed--if indeed the source has been printed to be jittery.

I need some help with a table.
My table needs to hold prices that the user can update.
Also has a total of the column.
my question is if the user adds in a new price how can i pick up the value they have just entered and then add it to the total which will be the last row in the table?
I have a loop that gets all the values of the column, so I can get the total but it is when the user adds in a new value that I need some help with.
I have tried using but as I need to set the toal with something like total
totalTable.setValueAt(total, totalTable.getRowCount()-1,1); I end up with an infinite loop.
Can any one please advise on some way I can get this to work ?

Hi on my site ive inserted an CMS system from Cushy. It all work that isnt the problem. The problem is that my page is a mess now.. The only thing ive addes is a cms code so im hoping the solution isnt hard to do.
There are three pages that are complete changed.

Need some help with threads...
Hello all,
I am working on a project at work, and I am not the best programmer in the world. I have been trying to get my head around this for a couple of days and just cannot get it to work.
I am writing an instrumentation control program that will have three threads. One is the GUI, one will receive control information and set up the hardware, and one will check the hardware status and report it to the GUI periodically. I plan on using the invokeLater() method to communicate the status to the GUI and change the status display in the GUI. Communication from the GUI to the controller thread and from the status thread to the controller thread I had planned on being piped input/output stream as appropriate. I have a control class and a status class that need to be communicated over these piped streams. In some trial code I have been unable to wrap the piped input/output streams with object input/output streams. I really need some help with this. Here is the main thread code:

I read somewhere that it matters where you start the thread relative to where you wrap piped streams with the object streams. So, I tried the two places I felt were obvious to start the thread. These are noted in the comments. Here is the code for the thread.

Through testing I have determined that no matter where I start the thread, the thread never gets past the "inputObject = new ObjectInputStream(inputPipe);" assignment.
Could someone please help me with this? There are other ways for me to write this program, but this is the one that I would like to make work.
