I just installed Blaster x-fi Xtreme Audio card. It installed fine and I can hear through my speakers. My headphone jack on my Dell Demension 4550 does not work when I plug my headphones into it. How do I get sound to that headphone jack?

Case mounted Mic and headphone connectors are not meant to connect to a soundcard. They are meant to connect to the headphone/speaker&mic connectors on the motherboard. There are no connectors for them on a soundblaster card.

Creative Zen Nano+ - best "in ear" headpho

What are the best? "in ear" headphones to use with the CZN+ ? I've tried the Sennheiser CX 300 but they are horrible with a hissy, tinny sound and no bass. I tried changing the EQ but to no avail. Volume Too Low on Some Headpho

I know the volume issue has been beaten to death. I bought my Zen Touch player in Canada, not in Europe. I have noticed that with the earbuds that came with the player, and with a pair of Panasonic headphones that came with a CD player I bought, the volume is fine for me.
However, I've borrowed a heavy duty pair of Sennheiser HD570 from my roomie, I have it on max volume and it's not loud enough. If I tweak around with the EQ as Creative suggests, I get a lot of distortion.
Keeping in mind I don't have an EU version of the player or EU firmware, is there any other way to increase the volume of this sucker? I'm sure it's just a software issue, so why can't those good people at Creative create a little patch with a bunch of code making the volume louder. Or failing that, is there some way to increase the volume on the Mp3s themselves?
If nothing can be done, can anyone suggest a quality pair of non-earbud headphones that won't be too quiet. I've had my eye on a pair of Sennheiser PX-00s but I don't wanna buy an expensi've set and them have them be quiet on me.

It is not the impedence or the size of the headphones, but the efficiency of the headphones that is most important, even though the built in amp will probably deli'ver more power into a lower impedence.
The Sony V6(full sized closed headphones) is also 64 ohms, yet is very efficient and can be dri'ven adequately with almost any portable. Its efficiency is 06 db/mw. The Sennheiser HD570 is quite ineficient at only 95 db/mw.
The Sony V6 is also sold under the model number 7506. The 7506 has a gold plated plug though. Otherwise they are identical. The 7506 is around $00, while the V6 is around $70. The 7506 has been a favorite headphone of radio stations and tv production for many years. It has deep bass that is not boomy or overexaggerated and natural sounding highs. As with all closed headphones, it might tend to make ones ears feel hot. One other thing about the V6. It has a straight plug, so one should use a right angle plug Y cord or right angle plug headphone extension cord and plug the straight plug of the V6 into that and not directly into the player in order to protect the jack on the player.

SB Audigy ZS and headpho

I have some Labtech headphones from walmart...will they work with this card? I have checked all settings I know of and can't get sound thru headset. I have?tried 2 diff. sets no luck. Any ideas?

L/R channels reversed on headpho

Hey all,
I'm a bit of a newb here, so bear with me. I'm having a problem that's driving me nuts. I have a Audigy 2 ZS Platinum. When I plug my pair of Sennheiser HD 580 headphones into the headphone jack on the front panel, the left and right channels seem to be reversed. It gets bizarre when I plug in a couple of cheap Sony headphones... left and right are no longer reversed. I have trouble believing that a pair of good quality Senns would have wires reversed. Is it possible? Any ideas?

Best way to watch a movie with stereo headpho

What is the best experience I can get from watching a movie using standard stereo headphones. I realize I need to test with my ears but I ask because I might need to buy cables. I have the X-fi Platinum with the console. I use a standalone dvd player to watch on my tv. The sound is currently sent to my stereo where I use headphones and was thinking of sending the sound to my X-fi and using the headphones there. Should I use a digital connection for 5. from the dvd player to the X-fi?. Will cmss utilize true 5. signals or will the signal just be wasted. Does cmss only upmix stereo signals?Basically, can I get a decent surround experience while watching a movie with a surround soundtrack on stereo headphones and what is the best way to set that up. both ways would work, and I'm not sure which one to recomend.
Importing image by image wouldn't be so hard, and could give
you the advantage of being able to even ad interactivity like
moving layers or fading them and and and...
Making a flv and a slider is maybe a bit easier (btw i made a
sample some days ago I could provide you with if needs be), but not
as flexible.
Filesize will be an issue, and I guess the flv is bettr in
that respect, but compression might damage the quality, wich might
also be of importance.
Importing all as pngs with trancparencie might lead to other
issues, as discuessed here in a recent thread about pngs (the
number of png that can be stacked one over an other is limeted but
it seems the information about numbers is inconasistent,one of the
programmers of flashplayer talked about 24...)so there might be an
issue there.
But I think ist's a great idea, and it is doable in either
way, maybe it's wise to make sone test with - say 10 layers and
decide then which way to go for the rest.

Speakers won't mute with Headpho

This is for an Audigy 4-pro. When the headphones are plugged in, the speakers still function. I've turned on the option to mute the speakers when the headphones are plugged in. That doesn't seem to make any difference. Am I doing something wrong? Should I reinstall my drivers? Or is there another tweak I need to make?

I think I would rather just turn off my speakers manually every time I plugged in my headphones. This was not at all a constructi've response.

Vista SP1 32bit and USB Headpho

Prior to upgrading to SP, when I used my USB headset (Logitech), Windows would discover it and disable my speakers. Now after upgrading to SP, it no longer does that. I've checked the settings, headset discovery is on and automatically mute speakers are both checked. But when I go into games, specifically Team Fortress 2, my speakers continue to play, my headset does not play sound. Windows recognizes the headset and the microphone.
Any ideas?

USB headsets work independently, they do not use the soundcard, and have their own audio device instead. This would probably be something you'd have to check with Logitech.

Multi-channel loudspeakers and headpho

i have the audigy 2nx and am using the www.alcatech.com bpm pro4 audio software. This software requires either 2 soundcards or one which has multi-channel support. Its basically a mixer - i want to listen to one song through the loudspeakers and another song simultaneously through my headphones. How do i do this ? is there an option in the creative software which enables this ? I have enabled the option in the bpm software accordingly. However i cant use two seperate channels - ie. i always get this same output on headphones and loudspeakers....PLEASE HELP :-) i would dearly love to use this software at a party on saturday the 3th august (in one day

Problem with EP-630 headpho

Happened with my first pair, too, so I went back to the store to have them replaced. I suggest you'll do the same because they're obviously faulty.

Odd Experiece With Headpho

When I use my headphones, there is this weird like hallway effect, the sound sounds very distant. If I fade the sound to the left or right channel it clears up. I don't have CMSS enable. Just default settings(which CMSS is not enabled). I've tried reinstalling the drivers, and everything but it doesn't help. My headphones use to work properly, I don't know what could have caused this. Any ideas? This is only with my headphones, when using my speakers, they work fine.

SB Live / Unable to monitor mic input with headpho

I'm sorry if this question has been asked before. But I am new not only to the PC platform, but to SB. The computer was built for me.. I do not have all the software CDs ... nor hardware documentation.
So - I am using Windows XP and SB Li've. I am a singer attempting to record my vocals to my tracks. I am able to record using the Mic2 input. But so far, I have been unable to monitor that input through my headphonesas I am recording. I can hear the other tracks through the headphones...and I can playback what I record...and hear it just fine through the headphones...(and speakers too). But I cannot monitor the input while recording.
Please Help! I'm never going to get this Christmas CD done in time!

I had this happen to me, on two different sb li've! platinums. I ran thru the messages here, and found one thing that helped. But first, lets do the basics.
Start / Programs / Accessories / Entertainment / Volume Control. Once there, youll most likely be looking at the Play Control (says so at the top of the window).
Go to Options / Properties, and go to Recording, itll switch you over. Make sure the mic is selected there. Once youre sure its selected, go to Options / Properties, and select play back, Now make sure that mic isnt muted.
If you know mic is selected to be the recording input, and mic isnt muted, you can try what i found has worked for me. Go to Start / Settings / Control Panel / Audio HQ / EAX Control Panel. Once in there, select an effect (any), enable it, then disable it, Viola. It all works again.
If none of this works, then i really dont know. Good luck.

Zen xtra 30gb battery issue and question about headpho

frist thing is that my zen xtra 30gb is having a minor problem concerning its battery. when i charge it, the meter doesnt fill up, however when i unplug it, the correct amout on the power meter is there. what can i do about this.
second, im supposed to be getting the sony fontopia ex7 within the next few weeks, what would be the best recommendation for eq settings.

Whenever you get strange behaviour run a disk cleanup. To run a Disk Cleanup you need to access the Rescue Mode. To access the Rescue Mode hold down the play button and KEEP it held down, press the tiny reset switch once, and KEEP the play button held down until the player boots into the Rescue Mode. Choose Disk Cleanup from the menu. Note: Disk cleanup should not remove your tracks. It searches through the disk for files and rebuilds the index, and can be useful for correcting any strange behaviour.
If that doesn't help, you might also want to download and install the latest firmware update from Nomadworld.com downloads. Make sure to follow the instructions on the download page about how to upgrade.
If that doesn't help, then flatten the battery through normal use and recharge it fully before using it again (a full recharge takes at most about 4 hours). Do this a couple of times. Sometimes the indicators get "uneducated" and this is supposed to re-educate them.

Hi,I've install the card and i want to use the creative speakers and headphones as well. (seperatly offcourse, but connected together)Is it possible at all to connect both of them together?for instance, creative shows in the manual picture to connect the headphones in line, and the speakers in 2.but i can only hear the speakers or the headphones when i connect them in line ... I thought that i can "program" some jack? ( like in most motherboards) to do that as well, but i saw the the "flexijack" option is all grey and cannot be used. If some one here know/had this problem, i would appreciate some help/advice. Thanks in advance,??
