Headphone audio does not work. The external output does NOT appear in system preferences at all

It does NOT have a red light. I have had that issue before ad was able to fix it. My external output does NOT show up in my system preferences at all.

Adobe has decommissioned the CS2 activation servers, so your old serial number is no longer usable.
If you download the special non-activating version of CS2 that Adobe has made available to licensed CS2 users, you MUST also use the new serial number provided by Adobe on that download page:

That S/N does work. I double checked.

The sharing option doesn't appear in system preferences

OS X 10.6.6
The sharing option is no longer in system preferences. I've looked in the folder /system/library/preferencepanes and there isn't a file for sharing. The most recent thing I've done is install remote desktop, which also doesn't appear anywhere that I can see.
So how do I get the sharing option back? Is it a simple case of downloading the latest software update?

Audigy 4, digital out would not work, now external box does not power

I recently purchased a audigy 4 sound card. At first it was almost as if there was a loose wire somewhere. Sometimes the external break out box would power up and sometimes it would not. There was no loose wire and it now no longer powers up at all. The only thing that was worse than the intermittent power up was the digital out on the box. First of all I was told that you could use the spidf out on the box to a receivers digital in, this never worked now matter what settings I tried. I was then told to try the mini out. So I went and bought a mono mini out, that was a joke, didn't fit right rarely worked. I then went and bought a mini stereo plug to RCA out, that fit right and worked a few times, It no longer works at all.
I had the settings set up correctly with the spidif passthrough.
Has anyone else had any problems getting the digital out to work with a receiver?
The analog works fine, but just like the audigy mp3 the bass output for my sub is weak and almost nonexistent. I have a nice hifi/ht system I am trying to get this card to work with.

i have the same problem - when i use the equalizer i can save a preset without problems,
but if i reboot the pc i first have to open the equalizers window to make the equalizer work. without having opened the equalizer window it seems to be not activated.
does anybody have an idea how to fix that problem?

Deleting songs in itunes does not work - the other forum did not help

i have a new ipod (80GB)and i cannot delete anything from itunes. when i highlight and try delete/backspace nothing happens. when i right click on an item the menu that opens does not include a clear or delete option.

i have the latest itunes version and have it reinstalled again and again.
the otions i get when highlight and right click on a song in the music section in itunes are:

rating
shoe in windows explorer
reset play count
reset skip count
convert selection for ipod
convert selection for apple tv
uncheck selection
mark as not new
add to playlist
show in playlist
copy
get album artwork
apply sort field
so there is no clear nor delete!
how on earth can i get my list smaller????
i am starting to think about all those lovely windows mp3 players.

no idea what happened here but for a moment i was actually able to delete songs from my playlist which caused me to loose a few songs. i then closed everything off and restarted and now it appears to work. the strange thing is i haven't changed a thing. however i will closely monitor this and if it stays like this i have no further reason to get my fingers in a twist. as i said a mystery to me, anyhow thanks to all who were involved trying to help.

My right click is not working. the context menu does not come up and i can no longer drag files/folders. I have checked the mouse and track pad in system preferences and the correct boxes are all checked (with a support member). Please can you help

Two Macs with Mac OS X 10.5.2. Both migrated from Mac OS X 10.4.11. One Mactel and one PowerPC. I can see the former from the latter, but not the latter from the former:

Crucial certainly makes great RAM - it's what I use in my machine - and you should visit their website. Just to let you know, though, Crucial ships all over the world and have both UK and EU sites, if that helps.
Your specific model can hold up to 16GB of 204-pin PC3-8500 (1066 MHz) DDR3 SO-DIMMs, even though the 'official' Apple spec is for 8 GB. Something to do with a long-ago firmware update.
You may also want to visit OWC - their prices are high but they make excellent RAM as well.

Hi Dani, After speaking with a sales representative I have been advised that there are no available ports at my address. I was mostly sure this would be the situation, and this only adds to the frustration of our family. Just because we live in an area considered 'rural' we are treated with terrible access to any kind of fixed line internet connection at all. Is there any way for our family to recieve any kind of compensation for the fact that we cannot be supplied with the same quality and quantity of internet that most other people within a 50km radius of our house, can get? I do not understand why we have to deal with the comparatively tiny data amounts of the mobile broadband modems, and cannot even get a matched data quantity, seeing as we pay much more than the regular household to achieve not even a quarter of the data provided by one of the smallest residential ADSL bundles. I understand that these modems are intended for mobile use and this is why they are priced up, but the modems never leave our address which I'm sure some Telstra employee with access to IP tracking programs can clarify, they are soley for our home internet, and our family is grealty inconvinienced by the lack of ports to our area. Is there any way that we can request a port increase for our exchange, or any similar avenue to even slightly shorten the time our family has to wait for internet so that they can keep up with colleagues and peers in terms of schooling and work? As our location is not on NBN's 3 year plan, which gives us at least 3 more years until we can access high data-limit broadband services, and by then who knows how much more technologically integrated our society will become. Any information as to who we can talk with to try and achieve any kind of comparitvely capable internet services would be greatly appreciated, as would any information about the status of increasing port availability.

Right click your volume icon in the notification area and select "volume control options". From there, you should be able to select the external speakers.

Itunes 11.1.3.8 shows a speaker icon in front of the seclection but it is not playing. the progress bar does not move. there are speakers attached to the system and all other programs do profuce an audio output.

Go to the Edit -> Preferences-> Playback
In The bottom section of the page click the drop down menu by Play Audio Using and select Windows Audio Session or something other than "Direct sound" or whatever it displays. Click Okay. This worked for me! I hope it works for you too!

I have a problem on my notebook hp pavilion g6-1326sl . It does not work the audio and microphone headset .
I tried to format the computer and reinstall the operating system win 7 , both 32 and 64 bit ( one installed ) . I tried using the drivers from the HP website , IDT audio driver High - definition ( HD ) 6.10.6341.0 rev . But the loudspeakers of the PC are combined with headphones ( loudspeakers / headset ) .
The reproduction of the sounds takes place together , and inserting the headphones do not come off the speakers pc .
In addition skype does not work in any way , selecting any internal and external microphone , using headphones and without .
You know help me to solve the problem ?

Does this happen with all cd's or one in particular?

Try a cleaning disc. You can get them at places like Radio Shack.
If nothing helps your optical drive has probably failed. You can replace it or purchase an inexpensive external drive. Don't buy the Apple SuperDrive as it won't work with macs that have a built in drive.
