Headphone Audio

I have a 1.8 GHz G5 (purchased in 2003).  Does the front headphone jack output optical audio, like on current iMacs?

Hello Drew,
No not the front, but the back has Optical ports...

  • Left headphone audio output is slow as compared to right ear phone

I have Macbook Pro and since last few days left headphone audio output has became very slow as compared to right headphone audio output. I have tried multiple headphones but no luck so its problem with audio jack I think.
Did anyone experience same problem? Kindly please guide.
    Thanks in advacne.

This a new one for me, the is slower?
    Trya pram reset:
Power off, power back on holding the following keys before the start up chime.
option, command, P,R (no commas) continue to hold these keys till you hear the start chime 2 times and release.
    Reboot, see if this helps.

  • Update to OS X 10.10.3 breaks headphone audio on MBPR

After update OS X Yosemite to 10.10.3 I have an issue with headphones audio. Speakers audio is OK. This happens on a MacBook Pro Retina Late 2013.
The exact issue is that when I plugin my EarPods in to the stereo jack on the left side I hear for about a second the sound is OK, then I hear popping in the right headphone and then the right one is very quite. The left one is OK.
This doesn't not happen on my bootcamp windows on the same Mac.
Resetting the PRAM and SMC did not help.
Do you guys have any ideas or has anyone else faced the same issue?

I just experienced this same problem this morning.  Does anyone have a fix?  I have checked all of the sound settings, settings for the headphone port, as well as resetting the NVRAM.  None of it has helped.

  • HP Mini 110-1030CA headphone audio jack: low-quality

So, the headphone audio jack seems to only give me low-quality unintelligible sound. I've seen various posts about installing the Vista version of the IDT driver, but that didn't work. I don't mean that it didn't solve my problem, I mean it didn't install at all.
So my question is this: has anyone got a defninitive solution for this? Or should i just keep fiddling with it until i give up and take it back to the retailer and make them deal with it?
Thanks. Any help is much appreciated.

I have a HP Mini 110 and I need the pinout for the microphone headphone jack
Is it the same as a iPOD?
Why is it so hard to find out how to plug a Mic and Headphone in?
I am in fact looking to hook up my Mini to my ham radio and I need to find or make a 1/8" phone plug for audio in and a 1/8" phone plug audio out female plug to the 4 pin 3.5 mm audio plug on the mini cable.
    Thanks

  • Audition headphone / audio monitoring?

    Hey folks,
I'm curious if Adobe Audition has any easy way to set up headphone audio monitoring? A basic audio passthrough? Basically, so i can hear the levels at the same time i am recording or speaking through the microphone in a pair of headphones. I have a feeling this might be a more complicated question than it seems, because I'm using a USB microphone (Blue Microphones' Spark XLR), so i'm imagining maybe there is hardware latency issues with using USB?
Thanks a lot for your time!
    -Quin

Audition doesn't do any monitoring setup at all - that's down to the software controller for your audio device, although it's possible to send a channel output from Audition's mixer in multitrack mode directly to an output. That will give you a round trip through Audition, and include any effects you've put in the channel -  but it will only be the dry signal that gets recorded.
To do this, you need to find out in Audition's hardware preferences whether there's an output available, and then you have to select to use it in the channel preferences. Yes it will increase latency - probably enough to put you off doing it if you don't have a seriously fast machine. There's no particular latency issue with USB connections - by and large this is all down to the processing in the machine, which has to take your signal, pass it through Audition, and then send it back to the audio driver. That's what takes the time. The really bad news is that this is really only going to work properly with ASIO drivers (minimum latency), and I'm assuming that this is a USB mic. If so, Blue don't appear to have produced any ASIO drivers at all for it. But it's not clear from your original post because you refer to an XLR mic. How is it connected to the PC?

  • No Speaker Audio But Headphone Audio's OK

The audio on my  two month old A505-S6025 Win-7 Pro worked well yesterday. When I turned it on today the speaker audio was not working. I checked the Headphone audio and it is OK. I know of nothing I did that would have turned the speakers off and I can;t find any setting that is not enabled for them.
Action Center "couldn't identify the problem."
Anyone have any instructive comments to fix this?
    Thanks

Off and then On again.   Don't know why... did not change anything... just shut it down normally and the speaker audio returned when I turned the laptop on the next time I needed it.   No idea what the issue was but at least it is running OK... For now, at least.

  • Headphone audio not working on Lion Macbook Pro

Hello. I am having trouble with my headphones in my Macbook Pro. The OS is Lion, and ever since a couple days ago, whenever I plug my headphones into my Macbook, the audio doesn't change at all. The sound continues to come out of my speakers and it doesn't change. The strange thing is it seems to register the headphones regardless, as when I check my Sound Preferences with it plugged in, it says that the 'Input' device is 'Line in' as opposed to 'Internal microphone' which shows when the headphones aren't plugged in, yet the 'Output' device remains 'Internal speakers'. This is very annoying as I use my Macbook to produce music am limited to only using monitors now.
Just a note, I have tried it with more than one set of headphones too.
I appreciate any help I can with this.
    Thank you.
    -Ben

Oh! I appear to have sorted it! The 'Use audio port for' option in the Sound Preferences was set to Input and not Output.

  • No headphone audio output after Airplay

I'm facing problems after having streamed audio from a Safari website via Airplay to my Apple TV (set to Airplay audio output under system preferences). When I'm now connecting my headphones to my iMac, OS X automatically switches to Airplay output. Every intend to switch back manually under system preferences or the Audio/Midi control panel fails. Somebody know a terminal command to restore the default settings? "sudo coreaudiod" is not working, already tried that.
    Thank you for any advice.

    Hello again,
it helped temporally to switch off home sharing, but when turned on again, the problem re-appears.

  • KM2M / CD - no headphone audio

The headphone jack on the CD player doesn´t output audio from music cd's.
    This is the situation:
    - I'm using on board sound.
    - The speaker audio works while playing CD.
    - The CD sound output terminal is connected to JCD1 on MB.
    - The volume nob on the cd-rom is all the way up.
    - The headphones are good. Tested.
    - The wire connecting the cd-rom to MB is good. Tested.
    - I try another CD ROM (Samsung SC-152) and I have the same problem, so the cd-rom isn´t the problem.
Can you help to solve this problem?
    MB= MSI KM2M COMBO-L
    CDRW= SAMSUNG SW-252

Your OS is playing the CD in digital mode meaning the cable from the CD to the soundcard isn't in use.
You can either disable digital CD play - I wouldn't recommend that in faver of quality and the ability to hear CD's in surround if you have more than 2 speakers.
The other option is to press the play button on the CD drive and not use software to play the CD.
Now sound will be outputed on the analog lines ( both on the cable to the soundcard and on the front jack ).
BTW, in digital mode the CD volume in the volume controll has no effect - it's treated as a WAV stream.

  • Low headphone audio with Mp4 playback

Trying to watch an Mp4 video and audio is extremely low on headphones. I tried using Quicktime, VLC, Flip player and iTunes and all are outputting almost inaudible levels of audio on my headphones with a characteristic underwater gurgling sound. But when I unplug the headphones, it plays the audio at a normal level over the speakers. All the videos played back with audio at normal levels yesterday on both headphones and speakers.
It doesn't seem to be a problem with the headphones since Youtube and Spotify sound perfectly fine.
Tried to change setups in Midi without any luck.
I have Air Parrot installed as a mirroring software, but it's never caused a problem like this before. I suspect it might have something to do with this, but even when I force quick Air Parrot, the problem remains.
Macbook Air 13", 10.9.4 OSX, can't install new operating system due to possible software incompatibility
    Thanks!

Ok so I just tried a pair of earbuds and it's working fine...
Why would my nice headphones be selective of one program's audio over another...is there something I can do to change the output on my computer?

  • PREMIERE 2014 CC - BAD HEADPHONE AUDIO MAPPING

Hey guys -- the new upgrades to Premiere have for the most part been great, but I'm running into a really peculiar issue that just suddenly started. I can play back my timeline just fine through the computer's internal speakers, but when I try to listen through my Beats headphones, it sounds like all the audio is underwater, and most of my dialogue tracks don't even come through. This literally wasn't an issue yesterday morning, it just started. There's nothing wrong with my headphones, I can listen to perfectly clear sound in other programs, it just seems to be isolated to premiere. Again, audio plays fine through other speakers, but I work out of a big office and need to edit using headphones. I'm using the latest version of Premiere CC 2014 -- it says everything is up to date.  Any ideas what this could be? Thank you in advance for your help!

Classic mode should make the headphones option disappear as it autoswitches on attach.
Try a bootable Linux live environment; if it doesn't work there, you might have a damaged headphone jack.

  • Bluetooth Headset and Headphone audio out at same time?

My GF and I were on our way to NYC on Acela and decided to watch a movie to kill time. I inadvertenly forgot to bring my headphone splitter, so I figured I could plug in one set of earphones into the headphone jack and use my bluetooth wirelessely. Upon doing so, the Mac Pro brand new, would only let me select one output via sound preferences. Any ideas or works arounds to allow audio out to both headphone jack and wireless? Is it possible to attach 2 bluetooth sets for wireless capabilities to watch movies?

Yeah I do it. I use a Jabra bluetooth adaptor that uses the headphone port. Then I tuck the luetooth unit under my Marware Relay wristband.

  • Soft route audio from line in thru to headphones /  Audio Midi Setup

    howdy,
I am trying route audio from the line-in jack to the headphone jack. It seems that this should be possible using audio midi setup but the "thru" buttons don't respond to mouse clicks. Any ideas? The shareware program "Line-in" works but I only get audio on the left channel.
    thnaks, Dan

to answer my own question, the through routing is possible using GarageBand. I'd still be interested to seeif anyone knows how AMS is supposed to work.
