Headphone Connectivity

Hi, i have a Creative Inspire 5.1 Digital 5500 which is plugged into Creative SB Live! Series (WDM) soundcard.
My problem concerns headphones i.e. is there a way that i can have my headphones connected without having to unplug the inspire?
If so, what would be the process and or drawbacks?

So i'm not sure what happened. But about a day later I tried it again and.... Voila! It's now working. Sometimes I hate computers.
I know this may suck for someone having the same problems, but do all the stuff I tried first! That normally should fix the problem.

You can't buy the part from Creative as a spare.
I'm not sure how compatible other parts might be, but that would be a question for someone who really knows a lot about this area of electronics.
The Creative repair for this is likely to be expensi've, but the problem is most likely a broken solder connection than an actual new headphone socket. So if you know someone experienced in surface mount soldering you could probably get it repaired just with this.

Creative Labs HQ-2300D Dolby headphones connections

Hi I would be extremely grateful if you can hep me with the following question. I am currently setting up my ASUS laptop for a home cinema setup and in the interest of good neighbourly relations I am hoping to use your Creative Labs HQ-2300D Dolby headphones. However my laptop has an inbuilt soundcard with the standard headphone connection (no optical connector). Will I need external soundcard with an optical connection to hear Dolby digital sound on DVD Movies through your headphones? If I do can you recommend an external soundcard with the appropriate connectors, I was hoping to purchase the Creative Audigy 2 ZS Notebook PCMCIA Sound Card but does this have the right connectors for the HQ-2300D headphones to get dolby digital?

When you have kernel panics, the pertinent information is in the panic report.
These instructions must be carried out as an administrator. If you have only one user account, you are the administrator.
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.
In the Console window, select

Possible water damage, says there is headphone connected when there isn't, what do I do?

I bought my iPhone 4s on October 23, and it was working fine until yesterday. I made a call after I got off work, and couldn't hear anything through the headpiece. No ringing or voice, so I hung up. I then checked the volume and it showed the ringer volume with (headphones). There were no headphone connected. I tried putting headphones in normally, but it wouldn't make the same "click" it used to. There doesn't appear to be anything stuck in the jack, so I don't know what the problem is. I am a dishwasher and keep my phone in it's case in my back pocket and don't take it out while I work. It has ghost armor too, but could it possibly have gotten wet through the charger connector and/or headphone jack? There doesn't appear to be anything wrong other than the headphone jack, but I'm worried. What can I do?

Try plugging/unplugging the headphone jack many times very rapidly.
If this does not work try Resetting the iPhone (hold down the sleep and home buttons, ignore the red Off slider, wait for the Apple logo, let the buttons go).

Is there any way to keep the music playing through the headphones connected through the headphone jack, while also playing the music through a bluetooth device, such as speakers - so the audio is coming out of both devices simultaneously?

When I connect my bluetooth speakers, the sound stops coming out of the headphones (connected via the hardwire jack), and then comes back when I turn off the bluetooth speakers. I would like to have audio coming out of both...

Thanks Kiwi. It doesn't make sense to me though, as that would seem to be only a simple change in the operating system, not a hardware 'necessity'.

- Try cleaning out/blowing out the headphone jack. Try inserting/removing the plug a dozen times or so.
Try the following to rule out a software problem
- Check also Settings > General > Accessibility > Hearing. Make sure that the sound balance is not set all the way to "R".
- Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost

Ringtone through speakers with headphones connected

Hello,
Is there any way to get the ringtone on my iPhone 5S to play through the speaker when the headphones are connected? While at work I prefer to have my headphones connected at all times (so I won't have to connect every time the phone rings), but when I do no sound comes though the speaker. Do you know if there is an option to change this?

Headphone Connections

I am having difficulty connecting my ThermalTake Xaser IIII V2000+ case ear connections, to my motherboard.
Ear connections coming from case:
Ear L

Ear R
Ear R
MSI 865PE Neo2 - MS-6728 connections:
Right channel audio signal to front panel
Right channel audio signal return from front panel
Left channel audio signal to front panel
left channel audio signal return from front panel
I am them connected, the way I thought, but when I insert headphones into socket the sound does not got off, it sounds like the sound is being shared between headphones and system speakers.

I have it set up and the sound is cut off from the speakers when the headphones are plugged in. I have it cabled so that pin 5 on the header is conneced to the right headphone output connector on the case and pin 6 is connected to the right headphone return connector. Pins 9/10 are connected the same way for the left.
The reason I asked if you had sound with nothing (cables or jumpers) plugged in was to see if there was some sort of short or something tha was keeping the speakers connected. Another possibility is something is messed up with the headphone connections on the case.... I actually had to change the board with the connectors on my case to make it work (different problem from yours).

Headphones connection on Lumia 925

Got a problem with headphone connection on Lumia 925: this is a new phone, I have never tried to use headphones and when tried (Nokia earplugs which go in the box with the phone) - I got a problem, the sound goes only through one - left - channel. The jack was inserted correctly and it was clean.
Any advise how to fix the problem?

For me it happend mostly with headphones not with headsets.
The headphones does have another pin configuration at the jack/plug.
Headset ==== mic | gnd | R | L ---> (ahj)
Headphone ==== gnd | R | L ---> (standard 3,5)
The Lumia 925 does not always recognize a headphone correctly. Most of the times the Lumia thinks that when you plug a headphone in it is a headset. In this case the microphone connector and the ground connector are using a same connection which will short-circuit the connection (only one channel left).
You can interim this problem while make the first part (by beginning at the cable) of the jack unconductive (the part where the mic is located at the headset jack). With slim adhesive tape or nail polish. But be careful that you don't clog it.
After this you can use your headphones with both channel functioning again.
Of course this is only a workaround, Nokia has to work on it !

Would a broken lock button and limited headphone connectivity be covered in the 1 year limited warranty?
It's hardware, but I'm unsure if it's counted as physical damage or not. It's a long drive to an Apple store and I don't want to waste gas to get a 'no'.

Covered by warranty unless the damage is due to abuse. If the iPod is all beat up and dented Apple may say it is due to abuse. If it just shows normal wear it should be covered under warranty.

Is it possible to use the built-in speakers when headphone connected?

I have a mini amp and speakers connected via the headphone jack on my late 2009 21.5" iMac.
First, is this the proper way to make this connection?
If I want to switch to use the built-in speakers, I can do so by unplugging the external amp. However, it seems that there should be a way to do this via software. But, I can't find it. Is it possible? If so, how?
I don't always want to make use of the external amp, I want to use it for music and videos, but not otherwise. And, I don't want to have to unplug it when it's not in use.

No need to unplug your mini amp.
This actually works on your Mac? I doubt it. This does not work on either the Early '06 iMac, nor the Early '09 Mac mini in my house. When anything analog is plugged into the audio-out port, the name of the device in Sys Prefs/Sound/Output simply changes from Internal Speakers to Headphones, there is no option for one or the other.
This has been asked over and over here, and I know of no way to do what the OP has asked.

If you're asking Creative card ... all cards with 0-pin properiatry connector onboard can do this partly (i.e. not 00% functioning) if you make DIY connection like showen on article --> http://audigy2zshowto.blogspot.com/
Perhaps some mb-integrated (onboard) SB systems from certain vendors has this connection utilized the way, as it's done with your onboard sound.
