Headphone issues because of iPod

Hey,
My iPod touch has been working fine until now. When I was listening to my music today, the right ear cut out. At first I thought it was my headphones, but when I put in another set, it didn't work. The other set of headphones were working perfectly too - as I tested on my blackberry right after.
So what do I do now? I checked to see if there was debris or anything inside the jack but nothing.

1. Test the iPod Touch on a dock station to see if it sends out sound through both channels (Left and Right). If it does through the docking plug then the issue is with the headphone jack.
2. If it is the headphone jack then you would need to get it fixed via either Apple or an independent shop which you can find on the internet.
You may also try the RESET and/or RESTORE prior to the steps above to see if that helps.

  • Are there any current widespread outstanding issues for the iPod touch 3G?

I'm upgrading from a first-gen iPod touch because despite my whole-hearted love for it, its slighter faults like relatively short battery life and limited space, not to mention the fact that it recently likes borking all my headphones, have led me to want to upgrade. But before I upgrade, I'd like to ask if there are any widespread issues surrounding the new device that are widespread but not covered by the mass media? My brother upgraded his iPod nano and now he has to contend with a headphone issue that simply shouldn't exist, thus my question.
And please no mention of the screen exploding. I don't wear spandex undies

  • I have been having some issues with my iPod touch.  I can't transfer songs that I have purchased on my iPod into my iTunes library.  Please help!

I have been having a lot of issues with my iPod touch.  Whatever I purchase on my iPod I can't seem to transfer it to my iTunes library.  If something should happen to my iPod, I wouldn't want to lose all of the music I have purchased.  I can't upgrade it either because a box pops up that says everything will be erased from my iPod... I need help!

Might be an authorization issue in iTunes. Try deauthorizing your computer through the Store menu at the top of iTunes and then authorizing it again. Once that is done try transferring purchases from the iPod Touch.

  • Headphone issues

While recording v.o., there is no sound coming out of headphones. I can't monitor what I'm recording. When I playback the track, the recorded sound now is heard in the monitors, but not through my headphones. I called Adobe customer service and they said I needed an M- Audio hardware device. I'm using Audition cs6 with Windows 7, through a Focusrite Pro 14 interface. Further investigation on my part led me to speak to an audio expert from a large audio retailer. He informed me that I did not need any other device. He suggested it might be a software issue. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks J.H.

I think that all the advice you've had so far has been wrong in part:
    1) Adobe Customer services shouldn't be trying to sell you hardware you don't need.
    2) Large Audio retailer 'expert' is correct that you don't need another device, but incorrect about it possibly being a software issue, because it isn't - it's a hardware monitoring issue, and nothing directly to do with Audition.
    From Focusrite's web site:
"Included with the PRO 14 is Saffire MixControl, an 18 x 6 DSP mixer. Offering a level of flexibility that is unparalleled at this price point, the MixControl software enables you to create six separate mixes without latency. Route any combination of input signals and sequencer outputs to any of Saffire PRO 14’s outputs. Intuitive one-click configurations help you track, monitor and mix as quickly as possible."
I've highlighted the relevant part. The way you do zero-latency monitoring during recording is via the internal mixer in your sound device - that's the only way you can do this. If you use a software path, chances are that you'll get sufficient latency to put you off completely. What you need to do is use Mixcontrol to provide an output to the headphone socket from the input you are using, and you're done.

  • I recently got a pair of KOSS headphones and now my iPod randomly pauses

...all by itself, regardless of whether or not the Hold switch is on.
It seems to "think" that the headphones are being disconnected when they aren't.
Is there any way to solve this problem or should I just go back to my old headphones?

the reason it poses is because the ipod loses connection with the head phones... and apple being curtious as they are, created a feature so that when the head phones are unplugged(or not detected) it pauses the song... it maybe that your case stops the headphones from plugging all the way in. It maybe that whatever activity you do it gets knocked out..or even a combination of both....

  • Old issue re-emerges: "iPod Software is too old" - but update not available

I found this issue discussed in October 2005, but the suggested fix then doesn't seem to work now.
Today, for the first time, I got an error when syncing my iPod, stating that some music could not be synced because my iPod software is too old. Of course, when I click the update button, it says I have the most recent version. If I try syncing again, I get the same error.
    I have iTunes 7.1.1, and iPod software v. 3.1.1
I've even tried restoring the iPod, but when I try that it says that my iPod cannot be found... which of course is nonsense because iTunes was just syncing with it and it's visible in the Devices list.
    Any suggestions?

Some more info on the problem --
Possibly related, possibly not -- the iPod has also been freezing periodically. Usually it happens while starting up or shortly after. If I put the iPod up to my ear, I can hear the drive whir then click and stop, and repeat. I've found that hitting the iPod can sometimes change the sound the drive makes, but I don't think it ever brought the drive back to life. Getting it back from being frozen seems random but does happen. Usually it was by restoring (before this "iPod Software is too old" problem began). This morning, when I plugged it in to check to make sure it saw the model correctly, it took 3 tries to start up (the first two times it brought up the unhappy iPod image, but then immediately went back to the apple and tried again).
I purchased the iPod refurbished from the apple site a little less than a year ago. It's a Click Wheel, B/W screen... I think that's a 4th generation, but I don't want to misrepresent it.
Should I just take it in to the nearest Apple Store and get their genius bar to look at it? Frankly, I'm stumped.

  • HT4623 I'm having issues syncing my iPod touch to iTunes

I'm having issues syncing my iPod touch to iTunes. When i connect the iPod to iTunes, a message pops up saying "iTunes could not connect to 'iPod Touch'  because it is locked with a passcode. You must enter a passcode on the iPod before it can be used with iTunes." Yet when I unlock the device, the only screen available to me it the picture of a USB and an arrow pointing to iTunes so there is no way for me to enter a passcode. I tried going into "My Computer" to view the files of the iPod, if i could possibly reset the iPod to its factory settings yet the connected iPod is not present. Is there any way to possibly reset this iPod or is there a software problem?

Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

  • What do i do if my internet is wep and i need it to be wpa2 because my ipod touch 4th gen connects to the internet but when i click on safari or itunes it says safari cannot open the page because its not connected to the internet

what do i do if my internet is wep and i need it to be wpa2 because my ipod touch 4th gen connects to the internet but when i click on safari or itunes it says safari cannot open the page because its not connected to the internet. i have contacted apple support and they said to change from wep to wpa2 but when i change it to wpa2 and type in password and connect on my laptop it says the saved setting on this computer for the network do not match the require ments of the network

My 2nd gen works fine with WPA2 and AES encryption.
You may need to go back and start over.  Reset the router back to factory defaults, log on as the admin, set up security, DHCP, and make sure the IP address pool has enough IP addresses to lease to ALL of the computers/devices that will connect to that the router.

  • I have an issue with my iPod touch gen. 5 connecting to my iTunes. iTunes says my device has an error, but it does not specify the error and I can't do nothing. I was transferring more music and editing my playlists. My songs and movies are gone.

What can I do to solve an issue with my iPod touch gen. 5 32 gb on connecting to iTunes on my computer? iTunes says there is an error with my iPod touch, which this was a result of deleting my songs and videos. I was only transferring more songs, videos and editing my playlists. I don't have that much of the songs left. What is the best solution?

And what is the wording of the error message?
