I have a 2nd generation Ipod touch that I bought a year ago. The headphone jack broke. What do I do? Do I need to send it in?

Google third-party iPod repair services and send it in. It will be cheaper than Apple.

  • IMac Headphone Jack broke - Can I switch?

The headphone jack on my old iMac Intel 2006 is broke. The red light is always on as well.
I've tried everything and read up on all discusstions on the board. But nothing gives.
Is there a way to use the audio-in as the audio-out? Somehow switch the usage of the 2 jacks? The in jack is fine.
    Thanks for the help!

Have you replaced your PRAM battery?  Sometimes that's all that is needed.

  • My headphone jack broke in my ipod & now the slot is damaged

My headphones broke inside my ipod 4th generation. So, i thought it would be a good idea 2 take it out with a bobbypin. It took mi a while to get it out, But now that I got it out everytime I play music in headphones, the beat of the song is louder than the vocal. I don't kno wat to do at this point. I dnt kno if I hav "insurance" on it so I can hav it replaced.

  • Headphones jack broke inside

My new apple headphones plug broke in half inside the plug on my iPad.
Does anybody have some good advise on bow to get the piece out?

Take it in. Totally worth it to have them fix it or get it sent out to get it fix. Do not try to fix it yourself anymore. You might wreck it.

  • Toshiba Thrive Tablet Broken Headphone Jack Fix For Audio Line Out

BROKEN HEADPHONE JACK SIMPLE FIX FOR TOSHIBA THRIVE TABLET:
I love my Toshiba Thrive tablet. I take it with me everywhere I go, nearly every day. I also enjoyed connecting the headphone output jack on the side to an external set of speakers. I would enjoy stereo internet, video watching and so on. I recently broke (cracked) the headphone jack on accident. For months, I heard only through the small, factory installed speakers which, is not quite what I'd call 'ideal stereo.' Has anyone else done this? Despite trying to find repair shops locally, no one will touch a tablet it seems for repair or replacement parts. It's not your usual headphone jack. But - I can tell you how to get your sound back!
    THE QUICK FIX
While browsing the internet, I found a device that by-passes the headphone jack and instead uses the internal workings of the Thrive tablet's main connection port. This port is located at the base of the unit. It will be covered by a protective, plastic tab that is removeable. Simply pry a little. This long narrow port was designed to allow you to set the entire Thrive tablet into a docking station designed for it. In this docking station are various connection pins that allow the audio to be sent out of the tablet and into the docking station. At the rear of the docking station you'll find a host of connection types:  1) audio out jack/headphone 2) USB 3) HDMI 4) 110v power supply. Simply plug your speakers or headphone cable into the new docking station and you're done! Your audio will work again. I purchased my docking station for $6.00 on Ebay.  Oddly, the unit doesn't charge very well if at all while in the docking station but I've read you can simply remove the cover from your Thrive, remove the battery physically for a few minutes, return it to it's rightful place then close the cover and this fixes the problem. It's a strange little glitche. I have yet to try this yet. I did find that if I plug the cord directly into the Thrive right side as designed, it will recharge the battery as usual. I ordered a few of these docking stations which allow me to simply set the pad down depending on where I am and it will continue to charge. The docks do not come with power outlet so you'll need to consider buying additional but it works wonderfully. There are now even wireless docking stations too!

  • A piece of of my headphone jack is stuck in my iPad mini!

I tried putting my headphones in last night and a piece of the headphone jack broke off. So I took the piece and put it back on and put it into my iPad mini. When I woke up this morning, I took out my headphones from my iPad and I started watching YouTube videos. I noticed there was no sound. When I tried to make it louder, the screen said "headphones". I was confused because my headphones weren't in. I looked inside and the piece that broke off was stuck in there. I couldn't take it out! Someone help me! Now I have to put on headphones to hear stuff from my iPad.

Are you still getting headphone sound when you plug them in? If the piece that's stuck inside is still in there, I would think it would prevent the headphones from plugging in properly. If you plugged different headphones in, you'll probably push the piece in further and cause more damage. Sorry to say but you may need to contact Apple service via Genius Bar to extract that piece. You might be able to knock it loose/out by flipping the iPad over (heaphone side down) and shaking it while hitting the edge of the iPad with the side of your hand...but maybe not.

  • Can you use a 1/4 headphone jack on a mac book pro?

    Hi,
I have a pair of Audio Technica ATHM50RD Pro DJ Headphones. I was using them today with my 2010 Mac Book pro and the normal sized headphone jack broke off in my headphone jack port thingy. I have consequently done a lot of research and had decided to order http://www.amazon.com/Syba-SD-CM-UAUD-Adapter-C-Media-Chipset/dp/B001MSS6CS/ref= cm_cd_al_qh_dp_t and get my headphones replaced because they are under warranty but then I remembered that another headphone jack had come with the headphones. I subsequently found this larger jack which I think is a 1/4 jack thingy that screws on top of my regular broken jack. I was wondering if rather than having to replace my headphones and computer plug in thing if there is some usb thing I can use to plug my 1/4 jack into my computer. If this is not a possibilty my other question is will the Syba device work if I buy and use my less nice headphones with it? Thanks in advance.

Here is Apple's official position on use of adapters.

  • Please help me with my broken headphone in my headphone jack

my headphone jack broke in my ipod touch 5th generation and i tried to take it out with glue and that didn't work so now it has glue on it too? please help me take it out!

Hi there I had the exact same problem with my ipad 2 and I found that nothing was working so I seen another post about using a drill bit but because there was super glue in my jack it wouldn't go in .. So I used my drill.how I did it are as follows.
1)get your drill and find your smallest drill bit (the one in my pack was 1.5mm)
2)start drilling it directly into the centre of the headphone jack
3)just pull the drill bit and the bit stuck in the headphone jack out.
And voila it really is that simple

  • How do i get the sound to turn back onto my macbook? There's an unremovable headphone jack stuck inside the jack hole

A piece of a headphone jack broke off inside my macbook, and i am unable to remove it.  Since it is still in the laptop, my laptop is unable to play music from the internal speakers, is there anyway i can override this and get the speakers to work without removing the jack?

Get a USB headset or a USB to headphone jack adapter.
