Headphone jack dead after update to 10.8.4?

After the update to OS X 10.8.4 (12E55) my headphone jack stopped working. Tried to unplug & reinsert the jack- nothing.
Immediately following the update the headphone jack worked, UNTIL I unplugged it. Then it died. Anyone have suggestions to troubleshoot?

    Hello All!
    Yesterday, I tried to update my X6 (16 gb) through Nokia Software Updater. I don't know what happened but my set is dead after update. I guess the update process failed somewhere. I do remember getting an error to connect the set again.

    Hi all, After updating to 5.1.1 my Z3C no longer detects when I plug in my headphones (neither the ones that came with the phone nor others). - Clearing data for Smart Connect doesn't help- Rerouting sound output with SoundAbout does work, but is not practical - it shows the jack itself is not broken, though- Installing SmartKey did nothing- Production week is 15W25, so not from the "faulty weeks" I have not done any "software repair" or factory reset yet. Anyone else experiencing the same issue after updating?

    No, no solution. Support asked me to do a "software repair" through the Companion, and if that didn't help I would have to send the phone in for service. I have just gone through the repair procedure, but no luck. I guess there's no escaping sending away the phone, then. Now all I have to do is to somehow find a phone (that accepts nano SIM) that I can use in the mean time - I can't do my work without a phone

  • IPhone 5 dead after updating to iOS 8.0.2

    After updating from 7.1.2 to 8.0.2, my iPhone 5 cannot charge and is not recognized by my Mac.  All original cables.   After 24 hours, the battery is dead, so there is no way to even find a solution by restoring or anything.  It is a brick.  If I were to replace the battery by myself, I still would not know how to proceed, software-wise, as not able to downgrade back to 7.1.2 (where everything was fine) and not sure of iOS 8.1 fixes any of this.
    Any ideas welcome.  Been surfing the web for weeks and still no solution found.

    Hi!  I always reset my network setting after every update of iOS because of the battery drain.  I did the same for iOS 8.02, but to no effect.  The problems I am experiencing are:
    1. battery drain - just around 4hrs of regular use instead of 8hrs
    2. the phone lags even when answering calls
    3. frequent signal drops and the phone heating up
    4. reset by itself yesterday while i was switching between apps
    I also updated an iPad mini first gen, but has no problem so far.

    No sound after update. But, I can hear sound in headphone after install pulseaudio, while there is no sound in speaker (after plugging out headphone). I have tried some methods in related wiki articles, such as alsa and pulseaudio, but not works.
    My enviroment is arch64, kde. I have installed lib32-alsa-plugins lib32-libpulse lib32-openal.

    As you have already gone into alsamixer to ensure the appropriate channels are unmuted & set at the desired level, have you also gone into your KDE systems settings -> Multimedia -> Audio and Video Settings & rechecked your settings?

    After plugging in my headphones in yesterday I realized they didn't work. Sound is coming from the speakers but refuses to recognize headphones. If I wiggle the headphones around I can get sound and it getting recognize in real tek. From what I researched its a bent pin in the headphone jack. Is there any way I could fix this or am I going to have to replace it?

    I allready tried that PRAM Reset a couple of times, and what do mean bij red light  in the aduio output port, so far as i know there aint no light there???
    en yes a chek at the System Preferences> Sound.

    Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings
    Note: Data will not be affected but settings for Wi-Fi, FaceTime, Message, Home Sharing, Wall Paper, Sound etc will be reset

  • Headphone jack dead on Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro front pa

    I have the Creative Soundblaster Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro running on a 2.4 GHz, Gb PC?with XP Pro. Everything was running perfectly yesterday evening. I went away for about one hour, came back to listen to some music and couldn't hear anything in my headphones. I hadn't made any hardware or software changes since I last used them. The headphones are plugged into the large (6.5mm) jack on the external front panel. The system is recognising them because the speakers mute?when they are plugged in, but no sound comes out. (If I plug headphones into the 3.5mm jack on the little volume control handset coming from the woofer, they work fine). I've tried two sets of headphones and I know that they are OK. In summary:- No sound from front panel 6.5mm headphone jack.- Sound connections and volumes seem to be OK, because speakers and woofer volume control headphone jack work fine.- Headphones are not the problem.- Speakers are muted when headphones are plugged in, but still no sound from 6.5mm jack.- No hardware or software changes since they were last working. HELP PLEASE!

    OK problem solved. The flat connector on the card at the back of the computer was very slightly loose on one side only. I could only tell when I actually tried to move it myself - it certainly looked OK. Strange that the audio made it to the speakers OK but not to the headphones!

    ok guys, please be advised that upgrading N73 is not something everyone can do! Please view the software upgrade page completely before upgrading your phones. It is all stated there already.

    I reinstalled the windows 8.1 but the second error code is still happening,
    If this occurs just after restoring the hard disk to its original out-of-the-box contents, then you have a hardware failure.
    If you installed Windows 8.1 instead of restoring, you need to restore to factory-new from a recovery drive in order to be sure.

  • Bluetooth Headphones Audio Delayed after Updating to Yosemite

    Ever since I upgraded to OS X Yosemite my Bluetooth headphones have started having pretty drastic delays on my iMac.  When I first start up the computer it seems normal, but after a half an hour or so, I have more than a 2 second delay.
    I googled it and found that lots of people have this problem, but I haven't found any fixes.  Is there anything I can do??

    I Just got an update on my bug report from Apple yesterday. They think they've fixed the bug in the next release 10.10.8.2.
    Hopefully this does the trick and it's just a matter of time Before we all get the update.

  • Documents in the cloud seems to be dead after update

    After the latest update (Mac and iOS) iCloud Documents is no longer working. icloud with calender and contacts is working but not documents in the cloud.
    I use iwork on all my devices (iPad/iPhone/Mac) and it worked well in the last year. Now all functions are dead.
    No up/download from/to Mac. Tried log out/log on to iCloud no change. Tried to connect via browser, but after selecting Pages or any other iWork app i'm always asked to give in my apple ID again. (This was working for weeks without any problem)

    iCloud IS a disappointment. I am more than frustrated by the iCloud document service and sync. I teach and use a Numbers spreadsheet to keep track of my projects, grading and classroom attendance. I used to carry around a flash drive or use my wifi to exchange the latest updates to and from my laptop and desktop. When iCloud began I was excited about the possibility of accessing one file from two devices. But I am getting only upload failures and errors  every time I try to access the shared document. It appears that the file is saved from the laptop and is accessible there. But if I go onto the iCloud web site or try to open the document from another computer, the document isn't there or, more than likely, the saved document was uploaded incompletely. So now I have a local backup on my laptop, another on my desktop, one incomplete document on the cloud and the original saved on the cloud on my laptop. The whole system is unreliable.
    My fear is that since Mtn Lion saves 'local' documents to the cloud (unless you manually change the save to the hard drive), any document left up there will not be accessible by a new replacement machine or even a correctly inputted id and pw.
    I'm going back to local save, copy and replace method of keeping one file up-to-date on multiple computers and talk to the iCloud geniuses to find out what's going on. I'll report back.

    Please help, when I put the headphone into my Macbook the output sound shows headphones but when I try to play music, no sound come out from the headphone, when I remove the headphone from my Macbook, the internal speaker works flawlessly. I don't know it is a hardware or software problem, but the problem occurs after I upgrade to 10.5.7, I tried installing 10.5.7 Combo, I tried the cutton bud, I tried the System Preferences, I tried different headphones, I tried to insert the headphones several times, but it came to zero result. The one that makes me wonder is after I let it sleep or shut down for about 1 hour then the headphones will work for several minutes, but after several minutes or if I move my Macbook, or if I put something in the USB, or when I close the case, it will become off again. Please help me, I frustatedly need headphone because my roomates are very annoying, ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.,

    1) Have you tried the headphones on another device IE and iPod to make sure something did not happen to them?
    Yes, I use it on my iPhone, it works.
    2) What happens if you plug it in the line out in the back of the computer (Front jack failed?)
    I have a Macbook, so only one jack right?
    3) Double check the volume settings
    I did it, but still no sound
    4) Can you create a test account and see if the problem persists (Preference file corrupted.)
    How can I do it?
    5) Get new roommates
    I have paid for another 2 months, badluck, hoho.

    On Sunday I did the update as suggested from the ipad. The ipad when stopped updated showed a blue screen, than the battery was down and after leaving the battery to get recovered my ipad seems to be dead, nothing is happening and the screen is black.
