Headphone jack doesn't work after replacing housing

Anyone else here have this problem? has anyone talked to RIM about this?

I recently had the same problem. My iPad, bought in November, worked until about a week ago. My wife took it in to Apple and it was replaced immediately. Unfortunately, my new iPad is having the same problem. I've "pounded" my headphones, car jack, home speakers and nothing works. They all work on the iPhone.
I think there's a serious problem with the headphone Jack and we're just now finding it. I see similar responses to the iPad 2. I'm taking mine back into Apple this weekend and proving my point.

  • Headphone Jack STILL not working after hardware replacement

Can someone help me, my headphone jack stop working suddenly from one day to another, it only plays the left channel. I took it to repair store and they changed the whole headphone jack hardware for a new one and it still has the same problem, I thought it was matter of restoring it so it could accept the new hardware but still the same issue. What should I do?

I had the same problem and chatted with tech support and they told me to reset the PRAM and SMC which did not fix the issue.  After contacting them a second time I was told my computer needs to be repaired.  Which is not the problem it is a software issue.
What finally fixed it was (this was done after resetting the PRAM and SMC):
    * Note: you can try this first and maybe it will solve your issue if not reset the PRAM and SMC then do the following.
    1. Open system preferences
    2. Chose sound
    3. Chose Output then headphones
    4. With headphones plugged in I checked the mute box on the bottom right and unchecked it they worked.
Then when unplugged the speakers didn't work so I did the same but choosing the internal speakers

  • Headphone jack no longer working after repair

Recently I had a issue with my macbook pro so I had it repaired at the Apple Store(problem with the display).  They replaced the logicboard(2nd time in 4 months) and the battery.  Now after taking it hope and plugging in my external speakers into the headphone jack I get this weird thump sound.  It happens twice and I'll watch the audio strength at the top right.  Each time it goes from like it's working to a gray color as if it's not or locked.  If I try to play something like music with the jack in my entire screen freezes and I have to restart my computer entirely for it to work.
I'm very confused since I just got my computer back after an entire week and I still have issues.
Is there anyway to fix this or do I need to make another trip to the apple store?
Btw there is no red light in the headphone jack.  The last time I had the logicboard replaced it was a sound problem.

    Hi h,
I would, without hesitation, bring it back to the Apple Store to have a proper repair completed.

  • Headphone jack is not working after upgrade to yosemite

My headphone jack was perfectly ok till i was using Mavericks. However as soon as i upgraded to Yosemite the headphone jack stops working. I am not 100% sure that the software update has caused the issue but it is likely.

  • Headphone jack doesn't work in Mac OS X 10.5.6

My headphone jack stopped working on my less-than-30-day-old MacBook Aluminum. Without headphones internal speakers functioned normally. When I plugged in headphones there was no sound. With headphones plugged in System Preferences > Sound indicated that a digital optical cable was plugged. I tested the headphones in another device and they worked. I tried another set of headphones and they don't work. I tested the system with Bootcamp/Vista Home Premium and the headphones worked, so the problem was not the hardware, it must be the OS. I took my Mac to the Apple Store and the Expert says he "cleared the Kernel cache", at which point the headphones jack started working again. I used headphones last night. Tonight, the headphones stopped working again, but, after about an hour, as I am typing this post, I see they have suddenly started functioning again. Now I have to correct all my grammar in this post to indicate past tense. What is wrong with Mac OS X, why do the headphones spontaneously stop functioning, what did the Apple Expert really do, and how do I "clear the Kernal cache" for myself?

  • Headphone Jack Doesn't work in XP Connected to 24" Cinema Display

I am trying to get audio out of my headphone jack when connected to my cinema display and booted into XP (OSX works fine). The audio always routes through the display speakers when booted into Windows XP, even when I plug headphones into my macbook pro's headphone jack. What settings or drivers do I need to enable my headphone jack to work in XP when I have my cinema display connected?

I have the same problem too, but using Windows 7 and Boot Camp V3.1. Headphones work fine if I don't plug in the USB from the Display to the computer.
Additionally, right after installing Windows 7, my Macbook Pro set the audio headset jack to 'optical audio' (with the glowing red LED), which I had to disable manually to get the headphones to work.
To Nick4597, for me, the headphone issue wasn't there in XP, just Win7. Maybe the latest Boot Camp drivers disabled the feature?

  • Headphone Jack doesn't work and internal speakers are stuck in mute.

So I have an 18' macbook pro with a 2GHz Intel Core i7 and running version Mac OS X (10.7.5). I recently dropped my computer off my lap while my headphones were still in. The headphone jack smashed into the computers headphone output jack I took out the headphones and they still work but now no matter what pair of headphones I use I cannot hear anything when plugged in. As well when I take out the headphones the sound output does not switch back to internal speakers but says Digital Out. I know the speakers work because when I was messing the out jack because I read when a red light is on inside the jack (which it goes on and off) means it is stuck in mute. That however has not worked so far and neither has putting in and taking out the headphone jack.

  • Headphone Jack doesn't work for all headphones

I don't have apple haeadphones anymore and I realized that not all headphones work on my ipod4. I have to turn my headphones to a certain angle to get them to work all the time. help?

    - Try cleaning out/blowing out the headphone jack. Try inserting/removing the plug a dozen times or so.
Try the following to rule out a software problem. However, from your description you have a bad headohone jack.
    - Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory settings/new iPod.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. Seems you have a bad headphone jack.

  • Touch id doesn't work after replacing it?

    Hello,
recentlly i've replaced my home button on a iphone 5S - clicking it works great, but Touch id fails - PLZ help.

    Thnx for it replay.
It's not a question of support under warranty. If Apple doesn't sell parts, it doesn't mean that they can't support a technical question. It's known that people do fix there phones. Can't understand why they won't answer a simple question. It unimaginable that some one has to buy a new phone just cause he had it fixed. Not supporting this is the same like monopolizing the free world of marketing. It's enough that Apple locked some phone with iCloud ( let's say that's understandable ), but this is just to much. Apple wants some one to spend money to buy a new phone, rather fixing it for much lower amount?

  • Satellite M30-604 freezes and fan doesn't work after replacement

Satellite SM30-604. Laptop left on carpet overnight and overheated! Fan doesn't spin and laptop only occasionally starts up. Thinking the fan was fault I replaced the fan but even this new fan doesn't spin. The heatsink is totally clean - no dust inside the vanes at all. The laptop is only 2 years old.
Using forced-cooling (by sticking a vacuum nozzle at the cooling fan outlet!) the laptop occasionally starts up like normal right up to the Desktop screen with all usual icons and no error messages. But then it goes no further - the screen, keyboard and mouse freeze.
Most of the time it doesn't start up at all. When it doesn't start, the blue LED comes on but there's no hard-disk activity or LCD screen at all - even the wifi LED doesn't even come on.
Really grateful if anyone know's what's going on. Not sure if it's the main CPU that's faulty?
    Thanks in advance.
    Charlie

    Hello Charlie
Like you know on this way it is not easy to give any precise diagnostic but according to your posting I presume that there is some complex problem and unit should be checked properly. I also think that there must be some problem with electronic.
It is really possible that mainboard must be replaced but, as I already said, it is no possible to say anything precise about your problem. Try to contact Asp and you will see what they will say.
    Bye

  • Headphone jack doesn't work in bootcamp  windows 7

    Any ideas?

The sound card works fine and the speakers are bgood. The audio just cuts out when you plug in a set of headphones or external speakers in Windows 7. On OSX it is fine.

  • Headphone jack doesn't work with 4.3 update

Regular sound works, although it sounds very different than 4.2' but when I went to use headphones today, nothing. I tried flipping the new mute/rotation feature just in case and it didn't make any difference. I use my iPad at school and need headphones. Help? Thanks!

    Try a System Reset:
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo. Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.
A System Reset does not remove any apps, music, movies, etc. nor does it cause any settings to revert back to default.

  • Headphone jack doesn't work

Help me please. If I inserted the headphones in my Xperia z1, the sound comes out of only the right side.
It was working fine but I don't know what happened.
I checked my headphones in another device and it works fine. Also, I tried other headphones in my Xperia but i had the same issue

I would say that the problem has to do with your previous issue (water damage)
