Headphone Jack fix?

I have a Toshiba Laptop: Model: Satellite L355.
For awhile now the headphone jack hasn't been working right. I have to twist and wiggle the headphones to get the sound to stay in my headphones. It's getting to the point where the sound wont quickly go back into the headphones and I think sometime it will fully quit working.
What can I do to fix it?

How did you do that, anyway?
I'm having a similar problem, except it's the right earbud, and only works if I keep pressure on the plug a certain way.
Just the end steps will be good - I know I'll have to crack open the case and there's instructions for that elsewhere. But I'm guessing you had to buy the receptacle first, and where?
Thanks a lot, congrats on solving your own problem.

BROKEN HEADPHONE JACK SIMPLE FIX FOR TOSHIBA THRIVE TABLET:
I love my Toshiba Thrive tablet. I take it with me everywhere I go, nearly every day. I also enjoyed connecting the headphone output jack on the side to an external set of speakers. I would enjoy stereo internet, video watching and so on. I recently broke (cracked) the headphone jack on accident. For months, I heard only through the small, factory installed speakers which, is not quite what I'd call 'ideal stereo.' Has anyone else done this? Despite trying to find repair shops locally, no one will touch a tablet it seems for repair or replacement parts. It's not your usual headphone jack. But - I can tell you how to get your sound back!
    THE QUICK FIX
While browsing the internet, I found a device that by-passes the headphone jack and instead uses the internal workings of the Thrive tablet's main connection port. This port is located at the base of the unit. It will be covered by a protective, plastic tab that is removeable. Simply pry a little. This long narrow port was designed to allow you to set the entire Thrive tablet into a docking station designed for it. In this docking station are various connection pins that allow the audio to be sent out of the tablet and into the docking station. At the rear of the docking station you'll find a host of connection types:  1) audio out jack/headphone 2) USB 3) HDMI 4) 110v power supply. Simply plug your speakers or headphone cable into the new docking station and you're done! Your audio will work again. I purchased my docking station for $6.00 on Ebay.  Oddly, the unit doesn't charge very well if at all while in the docking station but I've read you can simply remove the cover from your Thrive, remove the battery physically for a few minutes, return it to it's rightful place then close the cover and this fixes the problem. It's a strange little glitche. I have yet to try this yet. I did find that if I plug the cord directly into the Thrive right side as designed, it will recharge the battery as usual. I ordered a few of these docking stations which allow me to simply set the pad down depending on where I am and it will continue to charge. The docks do not come with power outlet so you'll need to consider buying additional but it works wonderfully. There are now even wireless docking stations too!

  • How can I get my iPod headphone jack fixed?

I am having issues where I can only hear out of one side of the headphones.  I have tried several different headphones and know the problems is not with them it has to be something with the iPod part where the headphones get plugged in.   Any help is appreciated.

    HI debooz09
you should give to a apple store and tell them here's the apple price http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/service/prices/ OR just search it on google or on youtube to get more ideas to fix the headphone jack.

  • Zen micro headphone jack fix for fr

i read somewhere in the forums that Creative can fix the headphone jack problem for free?
Do you need a warranty for them to do it for you? And are all the songs on the player deleted when they fix it's
I would try and fix my Zen Micro headphone jack myself, but I'm afraid I might do something wrong.

i recently got my micro replaced at best buy after it had the headphone jack issue, and my new one is having the same problem. I'm pretty sure best buy gyped me though because they gave me a micro that was sitting out on a table like it was used or something. Since this was within the last 3 months am i able to mail my micro in to creative to get one of the new, hopefully fixed, ones for free? It's soooo frustrating because i love the micro but the stupid head phone jack just makes me want to strangle it.

  • HEADPHONE Jack FIXED! In New Edition - Email from Creative Tech. Suppo

Maybe you guys already know this, but I didn't.
I was shopping around for a micro and came across two different product numbers of apparently the same item (this was on Amazon). One of the numbers went with the limited edition box, which came with extra accesories, and the newer one, came with just the bare necessities.
As odd as it may seem, the newer one was cost more, even though its MSRP is lower than the Limited Edition. Here is the email transcript:
    Dear ZZZZZ,
I really don't know why you are seeing the newer, Second Edition of the
Zen Micro for more money. The older edition originally retailed for
$249.99, and the newer Micro has a manufacturer's suggested retail of
    $99.99.
The Second Edition did have some improvements, including a different
design for the headphone jack, as well as adding the organizational
features, such as the ability to sync with Outlook.

I got my new Micro back from Creative today and they also emailed me, that the jack problem was fixed...
I noticed some things that were different from my first micro (bought in january 2005)
    - the hole player seems to be a liitle more "solid"
    - and its very "hard" to turn the micro on and plug in my headphones, so the jack seems to be reinforced! But you can see still these huge gaps around the jack. Hmm I'll se...
+ the the battery cover ( I don't know the english word for it ) is a bit harder to close and not as loose as before! (theres a little *clicking* sound when you close it...

  • Do you have to pay to get your macbook pro headphone jack fixed?

it has windows 7 software by the way

Is it under warranty? If it is and the damage was not caused by misuse then no. Otherwise yes.

  • Speakers & headphone jack are dead

    I have a White MacBook, Intel-based, 2GB of RAM, 160GB of space.
Since day 1 the headphone jack has NEVER worked, but I didn't bring it in for repairs because I was headed off for university. I figured it wasn't worth it to send off my laptop just to get the headphone jack fixed.
A couple months ago I got fed up with OS X. It would make my fans go crazy. It wouldn't shut down (it would just do nothing- literally) unless I force quit everything but the Finder and then asked it to shut down. It would freeze every single time I opened System Preferences. iTunes would not play music- I would select a song, press play, and then it would stay at 0:00 indefinitely. Et cetera, et cetera. I could go on for years about things that OS X did to make me unhappy. Moving on.
So I installed Windows 7 32-bit (yes, the Beta version) and I'm extremely pleased with everything that it does. It doesn't give me grief and it does everything I ask it to without question (even shutting down! Yay).
The only thing is that now the speakers don't work. In Control Panel > Sound, it says that my speakers are enabled and working perfectly, and that the headphone jack is unplugged (it doesn't notice even when I do plug things in). The sound is at 100% and I can hear nothing. However, when the computer starts up, it does its little MacBook startup noise...
Also, the headphone jack started to eminate this creepy red light once the speakers stopped working.
I do realize that Windows 7 is only in the beta stages and that means it doesn't guarantee that my experience will be problem-free, but I just want to know if any of you can help me.
    Thank you!
    - Dani

Great, I heard Win-7 was going to be very functional and without all of the Vista c$@p.

Ok, your audio out has been set to "digital out" The creepy red light is in fact an optical digital output. When digital out is enabled you will have no sound.
Open the full windows Mixer, (with all of the sliders..etc). Look for a tab or menu entry that says "Advanced". Hopefully you will find some place on the mixer to enable analog out. If you see a "digital out" option in the mixer and it's enabled (checkbox?) disable it.
If there's no option you might check online and see if there's an audio driver upgrade.

    Hi Mr.Acevedo329!
I have an article here for you that can help you troubleshoot the issues you are experiencing. That article can be found right here:
iPod troubleshooting basics and service FAQ
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1382
Specifically, you will want to take note of this section:
    The headphones don't work
If your iPod's headphones don't work or have static or garbled audio, try connecting them to any other 3.5 mm stereo headphone jack, like the one on your computer. If the issue with the headphones persists, replace them. For an iPod under warranty, you can order a replacement online. Otherwise, check out the cool headphones at the Apple Online Store. If the issue appears to be with the iPod, try resetting it. If that doesn't work, then restore iPod with the latest iPod software using iTunes 7 or later.
Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities. Have a good one!

  • How did you fixed your headphone jack breaking since verizon sucks at customer service

My headphone jack literally just stopped working. All the stuff I have read online is showing that most LG G2 users have this exact problem. I would like to know how to get mine fixed since verizon is sending me on a rat race to find out what to do.

There has been no damage to the phone. I have tried four different head phones. When it started all i had to do was twist the head phone and the phone would lose connection. When that happens on the LG it completely stops playing music, turns the display screen on, and sometimes changed settings while in my pocket. I used compressed air to try to clean it and a paper clip. Shortly after it completely stopped working unless i held it in place which of course is horribly annoying. I use my phone with its million features and apps to basically make phone calls, text, flash light, and you guessed it, listen to music. Without music i have , literally, little use for this phone. Trying to contact customer service has been extraordinarily frustrating. I called the store i bought the phone and told the girl working that from what i read online, this phone suffers from this problem a lot. To me that means the manufacturer is selling faulty product that will knowingly break. And of all things, the head phone Jack? They've been around for how many years now? The girl working agreed with me that they break often and told me to remove the battery and put it back in. On a phone that doesn't allow you to remove the battery. Then she gives me a number i call that then tells me to get some other phone to call a different number which is not what i need. I need information on how to fixed or have it replaced. I had purchased insurance but when my card maxed the insurance plan was cancelled. I've had it for over a year so the warranty is gone. Now I have a phone that doesn't do the one thing i like it to do While employees admit to me they break often over the very problem i presented. Very frustrating to buy a phone, which by the way is really a great phone, that can no longer do what my 20 year old CD player can still do, connect to the headphone jack.
