Headphone jack on S55 and sound in general is too low

I cannot get the headphone jack on my brand new S55 to work properly. Even on full blast it is, at best, 50% I just set up this laptop and really don't want to return it. Any suggestions? I have no computer saavy so will need explicit directions.

Had you brought the same pair of headphones to the Apple Store with you and they worked there? If you hadn't, the wire or plug on those headphones may have failed. Try a different pair if you can and see if those work.

Inserting/removing headphone jack causes Application and/or Finder to crash

Whenever (and every time) I insert or remove any headphones from the headphone jack in my PowerBook, the current Application and sometimes the Finder immediately crashes. I'm not sure if this started after either the 10.4.2 or 10.4.3 updates, but I suspect that the updates are unrelated. Is this something others have experienced? Is it a hardward problem or a sound driver problem? I suspect that I need to send it in for repair -- but wanted to see if this is a know problem. Thanks.

Inserting or removing headphones should not cause these issues, and I haven't seen anything on this, It sounds like an issolated case...Cheers...Don

I have just replaced the headphone jack, volume button and mute switch ribbon in my sister's iphone

As you see I replaced the ribbon on my sister's iphone. The volume buttons and mute switch dont work while the headphone jack works perfectly. Also it cannot find any wifi networks. Anyone having the same problem? This iphone has not been restored since it was bought. Or should she update to iOS7 maybe that'll help?

Thanks but thats not gonna happen. Way too expensive, the company I bought the replacement off send me another one maybe its the ribbon. Im going to restore it first though.

Headphone jack, player frozen, and hiss in backro

hey guys.. i'm sure i'm the millionth person to talk about the above problems, but my main question is, how long does it usually take creative to respond? I sent them an email explaining my problem (more have arrisen since then) about two weeks ago and I still haven't gotten a reply back yet. I bought my zen micro back in late July, so if i'm not mistaken it's still under warrenty, but the headphone jack is screwed, the player froze last night and now it won't turn on, and before then it would always say "shutting down" when i started it up and there would be a high pitch hiss in the headphones as well. anyone had these problems or has anyone NOT heard back from creative after a couple weeks? I didn't spend $200 on a paperweight..

How do you disable "digital optical output" so the red light in headphone jack goes off and I can use the internal speakers?

I have a red light in my headphone jack and I see "correct responses" listed as "when digital output is enabled speakers are disabled." That's all well and good but doens't really help. HOW do you disable the "digital output," get the red light to turn off and be able to hear through the speakers? What's the SOLUTION to the problem. Sorry, just a bit frustrated. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Allegedly this can occur if there is a contaminant in the headphone jack that makes the computer believe there is an optical connection there, so it shuts off the internal speakers.
Try inserting and removing a headphone plug repeatedly. This ought to dislodge the junk, and seems to have fixed the problem for others. Hope it helps!

And trying to have sound play out of my speakers does not work. The only way I can listen to music is if I attach headphones through either the front speaker port or the back speaker port on my desktop tower, but the second I connect my speakers to it, I don't hear anything.
Any ideas?

You're right. I did try a bunch of different things, I was just too lazy to write them all down. Sorry!
But in the end, I had to set a default audio driver. I thought I did, but I had to make it stick using a config file.

Headphone jack only returns mono sound...

I recently tried to plug in some headphones into my powerbook, however I was only getting sound in my left ear. I tried other headphones to the same result. I know this had been working fine in the past and have no idea why it wouldn't be wourking now. Does anyone know of a setting that may be off or does this sound like a hardware problem with my laptop? Thanks for your time!

I had the same problem.
Go to "System Preferences," then select "Sound." Click on "Output," and see if the BALANCE has moved over to (Left) or (Right) all by itself. That's what mine had done.

My headphone jack is unresponsive and audio still comes out of internal speaker

I went to listen to a YouTube video without bothering my wife; plugged in my headphones (both Apple ear buds and SkullCandy cans) but nothing came through them and the audio continued to pipe through the laptops speakers. Plugged in and out 7-8 times. Rebooted. No change.

My earphones are fine, but as i play music through them from my ipod i only get sound through one earphone
i also get only one part of the song, either lead or background music

I am having the same problem, for the second time. The first time I got my PB back from the repair technician after replacing the HD, and I had no sound. The tech monkeyed with it, taking it apart and putting it together, eventually it worked again. (He didn't ever figure out exactly what the cause was)
Last Friday, for no particular reason, my track pad went completely dead. I couldn't spare any time to take it to the shop, so I was making due with a mouse, then last night the sound dissappeared again.
I don't think it's a coincidence, I wonder if it could be software related. Maybe a virus? I don't know, but I'm really not happy right now.

I too had a same problem, when I attached AUX IN pin of my car to my ipad it got stucked in it.I went to Apple Store, they were helpless and asked me to replace it with new one for 16000 INR.
What I did is, I took a refill of a pen and sharped its back so that it exactly sits into the gap. After thar I applied some pressure and pulled it out...I got the remaining part wich was stucked.

Hp stream 8 headphone jack has buzzing sound

i read about the stream 7 having a simiar problem. the buzing sound happens when the headphone jack is plugged and sound ismbeing produce. after the music stops their is a lingering buzzing sound that last after the sound stops. i have tried different headphones and they all pick up the same noise. i already contacted hp and had a replacement delivered. guess what....same issue. please fix this HP!!

Sound Output - Internal Speaker and Headphone Jack?

I just installed my new iMac, which replaced my Mac Mini. I hook my Mac to my stereo via the headphone jack for playing iTunes. But most of the time I don't have the stereo on.
is there a way to keep the headphone jack plugged in and still have audio come out the internal speaker? Basically send audio output to both the internal speaker and the headphone jack at the same time?
On the Mac Mini this wasn't an issue because I had a splitter that ran from the mini to my monitor speakers and to my stereo.
