Headphone jack problem with Zen Micro

Hi.
I bought my zen micro on April 4 and everything was fine until a few weeks ago
when I got the headphone jack problem. When I touch the plug that is connected
with the player, it makes a weird noise and the volume decreases and goes back to normal
and it keeps doing it.
Can I get a/s for no charge since it's a yr hardware warranty?
P.S.) I can see there are some ppl who are getting upset by this same problem here.

  • Headphone jack problem with the zen mi

Not even 2 months after sending it in to be fixed, and I can't move my head without the sound getting distorted. Why don't they fix the problem not just make it work for a month in a half. Is there anyway to fix this withut sending it in?

I gathered that a lot of people have experienced headphone jack problems with their players, but I thought that was with the Micros only. I guess I'm glad I'm not the only one. Or maybe I'm not. I dunno.
Anyway, I sent an e-mail to customer support. My wife bought the unit for me for a Christmas present last year, so it's only a couple of months out of warranty. If nothing else, hopefully Creative will tell me how to ship it back for repairs at my own expense (it's gotta be cheaper than buying a new one).

  • Headphone jack problem with Creative Zen Nomad XTra 3

My warranty expired a couple of months ago, so, naturally, all problems are showing up now.
Last night I noticed that my player is no longer deli'vering sound out of the right headphone. I've tried with several different headphones and a pair of external speakers so I've confirmed it's with the device and not the headphones. Since the device is not under warranty anymore, I can't find any information on getting repairs or support.
    Any help out there?

  • Where can I purchase a headphone jack for a Zen Micro?

I need to know where I can purchase a headphone jack for a Zen Micro. The insides of mine fell out along with the usual problem of the solder points breaking loose. Zen wants $90 to repair it... I think not! Zen says they can't sell any parts...what a surprise!!!

To be fair, I finally got a response that makes sense. probably not worth the $$ they would charge but at least it was clear and to the point.
"I understand that you are experiencing problems with the headphone jack of your MP3 player. Unfortunately we are unable to sell the board. In order to get the player repaired it would have to be sent in for an RMA (Return Merchandise Authorization).
Since you are beyond the time period for email support you would have tocontact us by phone at 405-742-6622. Also since your warranty has expired you will be prompted to pay for a Creative Tutor Session for $2.99. This fee is to speak with a phone representati've. The advisor will be able to set up the RMA so that your player can be sent in for repairs."
So there is a way to get it repaired. but not to order the part. It should have not taken 0 (total) emails to get a clear explaination but, at least I got one, don't like it, but got one...

  • Random Problems with Zen Micro? Try a diff. USB cable

I know people have mentioned this in other posts, but I thought I would reiterate it here. Many people seem to be complaining that their player is not recognized, or only sometimes recognized, or recognized by Windows (as a USB device) but not by their Creative software, or songs won't transfer, etc. Well, I had some similar problems which ALL went away when I started using a different USB cable - the one that shipped with the Micro just doesn't seem to work consistently.
So, if you are having problems with your player that you can't seem to solve any other way, you may want to try a different USB cable. It worked for me.
Hope this helps - I am (now) loving my new Micro!

I tried a different USB cable also, I thought that it would help, but I still got the same problems. I can almost guarantee that although you think you may have solved your issues, they WILL come back.
I've also been experiencing the "Player Not Connected" problem with my Zen Micro.
I've also had the problem where the Zen Micro just freezes in the "Docked" screen even after it has been disconnected from the PC
I've noticed that these are common problems with Zen Micros with the new firmware (.0.03)
My old Zen Micro with the old, original firmware did NOT have this connectivity problem
Creative should investigate these issues associated with this new firmware, or maybe even making the old firmware available for download to see if this really is the source of all these problems.

  • Same headphone problem with Zen Micro Pho

I had 2 Zen Micros before. They both had the headphone where you can't hear anything unless you move it in the right position. My second Micro took a while to break and I cashed in my rebate at Best Buy.
I got the new Micro Photo since they ran out of regular ones. Do you think I should get the rebate? Does the Micro Photo have headphone jack problems too?

    Snoweagle wrote:
So far mine doesn't and i've not heard news that the ZMP is suffering the same headphone jack issue as the Micro.
Yep, there has been no known headphone jack problem involving the MicroPhoto on this forum, and this should be compared to new threads every week concerning the original Micro as well as the old 00-pages discussion thread. More people have supposedly bought the original and it has existed for a longer time, but the ZMP has been out for over 6 months in the US and fo quite a while in Europe, well beyond the time it takes for many Micro users to discover this problem (my first broke after two days...). Considering this, I'll presume it has been fixed with the ZMP.

  • Problems with zen micro

Since getting my zen micro and transferring music via media player, some albums have been sorting tracks into alphabetical order. I made sure before copying that all tracks were in the right order and were being sorted by track.
The Greenday album 'American Idiot' seems to go into alphabetical order very quickly. A few other albums have gone into alphabetical order a few days later. When i check the track details it always says 'Track #0'. Most albums are ok though. Should i try the creative software instead? I have the .02.05 (i think thats what its called) firmware. The battery also seems to be running out kinda quick. Less than 5 hours of whatever its meant to last for...

This doesn't exactly qualify as a problem with the Micro. It's more of bad ID3 tag info in the files from the sounds of things. As for t he MPEG Layer 3 Audio thing. That is just what an MP3 is. What was being referenced is the TAG info for the track. Open the file in Media Source and then use the EDIT TAG option or whatever it is labeled. ( I don't have it in front of me) You should see information for things like Artist, Album, and TRACK. IF the track item is empty or has a 0 in it then that is waht you will end up with for track info. You would need to edit each track for proper info at this point.

  • Strange problem with zen micro (I'm going mad!!

merry xmas!! I've bought a zen micro in seprember, flashed with .xx firmware; I always used it with windows 2000 with no problem, but... problems began when I've installed a pci card usb 2.0 on my pc; the card worked finely with everything but not with zen micro, that's to say that everytime I tried to import songs by media explorer, the program often wasn't able to import songs; so I've installed windows xp and flashed zen micro with 2.xx firmware (I've installed also service pack 2 and wmp0), but things have gone wrong!!! now everytime I connect zen micro to pc, xp asks the drivers, and it doesn't want neither the driver I've found on creative's cd, nor drivers downloaded from creative's site!! And it's not finished: now zen micro is without firmware and everytime I'm trying to flsh it, a dialogue box says that the player is not connect!!!
can anybody help me? otherwise I'll have to write to creative support for a substitution...
    please help me!!!!!

Strange. Unfortunately MTP connection problems are very tricky to solve. It's hard to know whether the firmware upgrade was partially successful, and whether you are on v or v2 firmware. It sounds like v2 firmware, due to the connection problems with MTP.
The drivers for the v2 firmware are provided by Windows Media Player 0, and are located in the C:\WINDOWS\INF directory. You could try pointing there.
As the player has no firmware though you have to go into recovery mode, choose "reload firmware", then connect to the PC (see if it's detected) and run the firmware update again.
If this doesn't work try and find another PC, say a friend's, that meets the requirements of Win XP + SP/2 + WMP0, and see if you can update.
In terms of resolving the connection problem if it continues, have a look at this thread, particularly the reply by DM, which goes through some of the troubleshooting to solve MTP connection problems. Also look for the link "problems with connecting using MTP firmware" in the FAQ post.

  • Problem With Zen Micro 5

    Hi,
I have Creative Zen Micro 5 GB,The problem is, Whenever i starts player it structs?at wel come screen,?i tried scan disk but it taking lot of times, and also samething with formating,During format and scandisk i heard some noise sombody help me regarding this issue.
    Thanks?

    Hi there,
I'm having the exact same problem. The beeping noise goes on for about 0-20 seconds, right? When it stops, everything freezes, correct? And also, it freezes on the home screen. When taking ou tthe battery for fi've seconds, and then put it back in while holding the power button on, it will bring you to the recovery screen, which will continue to freeze from there, no matter which of the 4 options you choose, right? I also smell a kind of acidic smell if you take out the battery and smell the mp3 player.
So, I'm also having the same problem. How long have you had your 5 GB Micro player? I've had mine for about .5 years. This makes me uneligible for me to recieve email support.
If anyone know how to solve this problem, please respond.
PS, I'm also having problems with the headphone jack. If you push the input jack to far in, the music either stops coming through the headphones, or you can only hear it through a single channel.

  • PROBLEM with zen MICRO: POWERSU

What's up kids, here's my problem. Please reply if you can relate...
I've had my zen micro for a good 3 months. It's worked perfectly for 2 /2.
Now that I've gotten the infamous headphone jack issue, I also got another:
When I plug my micro to my pc, this error pops up immediately:
    [img"]http://img22.echo.cx/img22/8657/microissue2ef.gif[/img] width="34" alt="Image Hosted by ImageShack.us" >
I know it is the fault of the mp3 and not my pc because every other device works fine.
Besides this one, I've gotten another bubble saying my computer doe not recognize
the device attached and it has malfunctioned.
I need help because I can not add music to my mp3. I also have some charging issues
but lets not get into that for now.
    Peace

    It's directly to the PC.
I know for a fact that it isn't my computer because I've tried connecting it to many others, and still have the problem. It has made successful connections in the past countless numbers of times.
I've notice my micro behaving wierd lately. Sometimes I can't turn it on or off. Maybe some of these issues are related?

  • Problem with Zen Micro TravelD

I had a 5GB?Zen Micro which started "skipping" when I used it with the TravelDock. I returned the TravelDock for a replacement. The Zen Micro worked fine for several months, then started "skipping" again. Finally, one day while using it in the TravelDock, it froze on re-building library and I was never able to revi've it. Note that I never had any "skipping" problem while using the Zen Micro with the headphones-only with the TravelDock. I bought a second 5GB ZenMicro a month ago. At first, all was fine when I used it in the TravelDock. The last few days, the "skipping" has started again. As with my first Zen Micro, I have no problem with any track when I use the headphones. The skipping while in the TravelDock is not always on the same track, and again, those tracks play fine when I use the Zen Micro with the headphones. Has anyone else had this problem Any ideas Thanks for any help!

I've had the same problem since I got the thing, except that it's SPORADIC. Nine times out of ten I can't connect. I've tried other cables, other PC's without bettering the odds.
    Most of the time:
    () Plug in the Micro.
    (2) Hear the USB connection "bong" sound.
    (3) "MTP Media Player" window opens. "What do you want Windows to do?"
    Take your choice
    * Synchonize Media Files to this device using Windows Media Player
    * Take no action
    (4) It doesn't matter. If I select "media player" it can't find the device. If I select "no action" and then click on "My computer" the flashlight searches, but it can't find it either.
    (5) Note the Micro says "Docked" with solid arrows. It looks connected to me.
    (6) Unplug the Micro.
    (7) The Micro still says "Docked" and now I have to remove the batteries to use it.
I tried e-mail help from creative. They had me try "clean up," they had me try un-installing and re-installing the PC software. None of it made any difference. Finally they suggested reverting back to the old non MTP software. At that point I gave up on them because I had the same problem before I upgraded.
I tried calling creative. They had my try "clean up" which of course did nothing. Finally they said I should exchange the unit. I'm not convinced that would help, and I don't want to be without it for 0-5 days.
Scanning this forum today I see two more suggestions. Let the battery run down a bit before syncing. Don't let the USB root hub turn off the power. I'll try, but I don't have much hope.

  • Problem with Zen Micro Accessor

Has anyone else had problems with the Zen Micros headphones or belt clip? A week or 2 ago my belt clip broke on the part that holds the spring. Yesterday (-24-05) the right headphone cover came off with the cords exposed. and the Part of the belt clip that held the spring in broke. A friend of mine who also has a Zen Micro the belt clip broke for him too. Has this happened to anyone else? If so how did you get it fixed?

What most people do is clip their belt clip on with the micro hanging outside. Me on the other hand i put the micro in my pocket of my shorts
or pants and keep the micro inside of the pocket with the belt clip hooked onto the lining of my pocket. That way my micro is safer and the belt
clip is very hard to break off

  • Problems with Zen Micro, wondering if anyone else had this problem

Hey guys, I'm having some issues with my Zen Mico. From what I can tell, the contacts in the headphone jack appear to be broken. The sound coming from my player is distorted, and it's really annoying. I've only had the player for a year now, and I don't think that it should be breaking this early in it's life. It's completely dumb that you'd have to pay 2.99 for a tutor session to just be told that your player is broken and to buy a new one. I have a feeling Creative will not replace the product and try to say that it's from "normal" use, so I'm wondering if anyone else here has had the same problems. Thanks for the help guys.

Oh, yes, this has been reported many, many times. You may want to use the search function to locate a few thousand of these posts.

  • Headphone Socket Problem - on Zen Micro Photo (not Zen Mic

Hi folks,I'm having a wee problem with the headphone socket on my Zen MicroPhoto, similar to that described in this threadhttp://forums.creative.com/showthrea...=654536#M40796 However, this was for the Zen Micro not the Photo. I've tried the DIY method of sorting out the headphone socket (by partial disassembly) but I think that there's no plastic strip where the socket, on/off switch and USB port are housed and that it's part of the main casing instead (which is probably part of the reason the MicroPhoto hasn't has as many problems with the headphone socket in the first place, as in it's a more sturdy structure...but it's obviously come loose for me). So...any hints as to what I might be able to do Anyone had the same problem Bearing in mind I bought it over a year ago now and it was second hand anyway (and thus the warranty is no longer valid). Thanks! RL

In this forum you'll find a lot of threads about connecting problems. Use search function. There are already some solutions or proposals how to solve.

  • Problem with Zen Micro

I am having a problem with my ZEN Micro. Whenever I plug it in the computer it locks up. I have tried the disk cleanup. I have formated the device. I have removed the firmware. If it isn't pluged it, it will startup to the recovery menu, but as soon as I plug it into the computer it locks up. I can't reload the firmware. Can someone please help?Matt

What's an extended period of time? I was going to plug it in and have it sync at night and unplug it when I woke up about 8 hours later. Is this not a good idea?
Unfortunately, I'm syncing with WMP0, and it slows down my aged computer significantly, so *please* tell me that having my micro connected to my computer for that time isn't going to hurt the micro.
