Headphone/mic Q

I have a macbook pro 15 in with the seperate audio in and out ports. Is it possible to use my iPhone headphones as a mic and as headphones on my mac? and how would I do that?

You take calls at the gym? You probably should not do that; seems rude.
I would go with the regular headphones and let any calls go to voicemail. It is likely you and the person calling can survive without contact for the time you are in the gym.

  • Win 8 - How to use StereoMix and Headphones Mic at the same time?

I am using Windows 8 64 bit and believe I may have an IDT driver problem.
I need to enable StereoMix and my Headphones Mic at the same time. I know this was previously possible with windows xp and windows 7.
What happens is If I enable either Headphones Mic (Logitech headphones with Mic) or StereoMix the other one becomes " current;ly unavailable"  I cannot get them both to work together. I can get StereoMix and the Internal Mic to work together ( both enabled at the same time) but the sound quality is bad because the internal mic picks up noises from the PC. I need to have both my headphones mic and stereo mix enabled at the same time.
The driver I'm using is the one provided by HP with the laptop. It is called sp59620.exe
Would another IDT driver solve the problem? Can you think of another reason this is not working?
    Here are my specs.
System Manufacturer/Model Number HP Pavillion G7-2251dx
    OS Windows 8 64 bit
    CPU AMD A-8 4500M
    Memory 8 Gigabytes DDR3 sdram
Graphics Card Discrete ATI Radeon HD 7640G with 2 Gigs
    Sound Card IDT Audio
    Monitor(s) Displays 17.3
    Screen Resolution 1600x900
If you cannot help, where else should I look? i have tried Windows and Microsoft forums and no one can give me an answer.
    Thank you.

I have tried the instructions in that video and I cant get passed the very bad feedback i get when telling my recording device to Listen.  His secone instruction from his notes here
["Right Click the Realtech HD audio device and set as default if its not already.
(note you may want to turn off any powered speakers you may have to prevent feedback.)
-Select the Recording Tab at the top of the window.
-Select the Stereo Mix device and set it to default if its not already.
    -Right click and select Properties.
-Select the Listen Tab at the top of the window.
-Change the drop-down box to the entry for USB headset and check the Listen to this device checkbox.
-click ok to dismiss the window.
-Right click on the USB headset microphone device and select properties.
-Select the Listen Tab at the top of the window.
-Change the drop-down box to the entry for the Realtech HD Audio device and check the Listen to this device checkbox.
-click ok to dismiss the window.
So, essentially, the game audio will play through the Realtec, your mic is also set to play to the Realtec. both audio streams are now part of Stereo Mix. Stereo Mix is being listened to by your headset allowing you to hear the game and your voice.]

Don't know about turning off any powered speakers.. the only speakers I have besides the headphones are the internal laptop speakers.  I get the same feedback if i have the headphones plugged in or not.

  • Iphone headphone mic no longer working since lion upgrade

    Hi All,
Since upgrading my Early 2k8 Macbook Pro to Lion my iPhone 4 headphone mic no longer works - the headphones themselves are fine (works with the phone, mic as well).
    Worked fine before he upgrade.
    Any thoughts?

  • Anyway to get combo headphone/mic port to work on Win7 (iMac 27" '13)

    Hi,
I just ordered a split cable for the 3,5mm headphone/mic port to be able to use my headset. OS X recognizes the headset - it changes from the internal mic to the external, so no problem with that. But when using Windows 7 (Bootcamp, not virtual) it's not possible to select the external mic, there's only iMac's internal mic listed in "Recording devices".
No doubt this is a driver issue, but is there any solution for it? And yeah, I could buy USB headset or external audio interface, but let's forget those options for now. Sorry if asked (and it surely is) many times before, couldn't find anything with google.
    Thanks!

    Hi BDAqua,
I can go to /System/Library/Frameworks/, but JavaVM.framework/Versions/A/JavaVM does not exist!
    Hi Linc,
I have already downloaded that updater, and it says 'A newer version of this package is already installed'

  • Headphone mic not being reconised

So ive been having htis problem with my compute im am using the desktop version of skype but it wont reconise my headset mic the headsets are kunais wireless buti use the lead what gose into it so it dosnt be wireless if u get what i mean
it only pics up my laptop mic what really annoys me as my laptop mic is really bad and my headset mic is really good

i have the same problem with two of my ipod touches 2G and nano 4th generation, with my newly purchased headphone mic remote set. called the apple expert, he suggested me to reset them first, and if still not working then restore them to their original settings with itunes. and if still not working, then need to bring everything to any apple store to see an apple genius.
i reset them all. everything works fine only when plugging in the headphone set for the first time, then none of them detect the headphone set again.
restore them. everything work probably until i transferred music and videos back to all the ipods. now they sometime detect the headphone set and sometime they don't.
anyways, seems like there're some kind of software conflicts. so, i will bring all my ipods and the brand new headphone mic set to talk to an apple genius.

  • Headphone mic damage from sweat or water after working out

I am on my 3rd set of apple headphones w mic. I like to listen to music through my iPhone at the gym or while running and think headphone mic is getting damage from sweat and/or water. Yes I could use regular headphones, but I like being able to take a call if one comes through. I could also try to sweat less, but that's another discussion.
Does anyone have this same problem or know of any 3rd party covers for the mic that work well? Thanks.

  • Ipod touch headphone mic not being detected.

I have an ipod touch 3G 32GB and I use the headphones that came with the product (they have a built in remote and microphone). I just bought the ipod touch, and as soon as i try to record some voice momos, my ipod touch tells me there is no microphone inserted, although the headphones (with the microphone and remote built in) have been inserted. Same happens when I try to call people on Skype. Somebody please help me.

  • 27" 2012 iMac and Headphones+Mic (2x3.5mm connectors)

I see that the new iMac specification states that it has one 3.5mm connector that supports Apple iPhone headset with microphone. If I have a headsets with microphone (not Apple).
    - If I use a 3.5mm 4-Pin to 2x 3-Pin 3.5mm Headset Splitter Adapter to connect my headphones+mic to new iMac will it work? (let say this adapter )
    - Is there anything Apple specific and not every 4 pin 3.5mm connector will work for headphones+mic? I noted that on headsets+mic that are supposed to be used with phones some have iPhone lable and some do not as well I know that not all this kind of sets work on iPhone. I have tried HTC headsets+mic and it won't work on iPhone.
    - or it is better to use USB Stereo Audio Adapter (like this)?
    - any suggestions if one needs to use the headset+mic that has 2x3.5mm connectors (one from mic and one for headsets) and do not want to buy a new ones?

    Hi Munas,
I got my iMac in advance so I could test the Lindy cable with my Sennheiser PC 360. Bad news: it doesn't work! The microphone is not recognized and only the iMac internal microphone is functional. For cons, I tested my iPhone headset with microphone (Atomic Floyd Superdarts) and it worked perfectly.
IMHO, the conclusion is that the microphone impedance for a classic headset is not compatible with an iMac or the cable that I tested is not suitable !

  • Case headphones & mic ja

    Hi !
I have this little question here.
I've got an Audigy 2 ZS without that front panel. And i need to connect the external headphones & mic jacks on my case to the sound card. Which pins on my Audigy card should i use ?
    Thanks in advance.

Add me to the list. I upgraded my case and I would like to use the headphone and microphone jack on the front of the case. I have the leads for it...just need to know which pins on the connection header to use. I have searched everywhere on the Web and only can find speculation. I know those pins on the connection header can do the job. A simple picture of the connection header along with some notation pointing to which does what would answer a lot of people's questions. • X-Fi XtremeMusic = Headphones&Mic + Speake

    Hi out there!
    I need your help!
    Plz!
I've got a Audigy X-Fi XtremeMusic installed and all works excellent! (I love the 24bit crystalizer ^_^d)
But I'd like to listen to some music on my stereo and on the other hand I'd like to use some communication-software (teamspeak, skype.. etc), which should be directed through the headphones.
At moment I try to get along by having installed the onboard-soundblaster (ac97 @soundmax version 5.2..3630, mobo: asus p4c-800e-deluxe) and using the "SoundMax Digital Audio"-Device for Teamspeak. The headphone and the microphone is plugged in the motherboard's sockets... and generally it works. BUT.. if I change the master-volume-control on the SoundMax-Control-Panel this change will also affect the master-volume of the creative-audigy-panel!?!?!
Is it possible to change the volume independently? And if so, how? Or are there any other solutions?
I've just discovered a button near the volume-control of the entertainment-mode.. apparently the headphone-volume can be changed autonomously.. so, maybe it's possible to do it with just the Audigy X-Fi Soundcard and the right adjustments?
I'm very confused and I'm very bad in understanding technics... and my english is bad too, sorry!
But, if you understand my problem and have any solution... please help me...!
    Greetz, Titi ^_^

I am having similar problems. I can use my mic fine but the static/overall quality of recording with my mic is HORRIBLE. I have tried 2 headsets and a regular microphone that I bought awhile back. I have an X-Fi ExtremeMusic that I just recently bought, and I installed the drivers off the cd, then updated the drivers on the soundblaster website. If I switch to Game mode, my record device is set on mic, but the static is unbearable.

  • Iphone to computer headphone/mic adapter

I've searched the archives and googled till I'm blue in the face but no one seems to make a 2x 2.5mm Female Mic/Headphone to 3.5mm Male iPhone Y adapter. Earbuds bother me after a very short while and the ambient noise in my office is a nusiance. I have an excellent pair of headphones with a boom mic attached that is also of very good quality (much better than the dangling mic's that bounce off your shirt, etc.) Unfortunately most, if not all of these setups are made for computers and have separate audio and mic 2.5mm Male connectors. What is needed is a Y connector to receive the two signals paths with a single 3.5mm Male iPhone connector. In my own searches there seems to be a zillion or so other individuals looking for the same thing. Sounds like a business opportunity to me but anyway, if anyone has found such a beast I would appreciate a link as I've not been able to find one.

    Is this what you're after?
    http://www.b2c-support.com/3-ysplitter-headphone-adapter-35mm-to-25mm25-to35-p-1 08.html
Otherwise, you can get 2 individual 2.5F to 3.5M adaptors and a single 3.5F/3.5F to 3.5M Y adaptor.

  • What headphone/mic set will work with BB

I hate the headphones that come the the bb, they are uncomfortable, don't fit the ear properly and the sound quality is crap, as for the microphone, people tell me it sounds of static and is distorted. Today the clip broke as well.
I have to use handsfree cell for driving by law, so I want something that is comfortable and good quality, also like listening to the music on my BB. My old Sony had an excellent earbud/mic system, but it has a different connector. I've tried a couple of generics, but they won't work as it seems that BB is proprietary with the 4-ring plug.
I'm sure someone else must have found a better headphone for the BB - where is it???
BTW, I don't want a Bluetooth due to the short battery life and I like to listen to music on my BB as well.

Several years ago I purchased a desktop Labtec microphone that plugs into the computer jack. It is not a Logitech product.
After all these years, it is still working helping me generating great narrations with various versions of Premiere Elements on Windows XP 32 bit and Windows 7 64 bit. I am not sure if the brand/model is still around and whether or is compatible with Mac.
When I first went looking for a desktop microphone, I could not find a USB type that worked. But, it took me a while to find the "right" desktop microphone even for the ones that plug into the computer jack.
I will post this Adobe link for narration in case you ever need it.
    http://help.adobe.com/en_US/premiereelements/using/WSED45334D-D309-445e-AF34-2AB3E3CCAA8D. html
But, I would mention something that you might want to consider if all else fails...if your preferred microphone works with it,, create your narrations with the free audio editor named Audacity and then import the .wav narrations into Premiere Elements with Premiere Elements Get Media/Files and Folders.

We will be watching for your progress.
    Thanks.

  • Line-In on MBP unibody and iPhone Headphone Mic

I wanted to use a speech recognition software but it requires a microphone. I do not have one but the iPhone headphones have a mic built-in that I have been trying to get my MBP to recognize. I have searched the forums but have not found a definitive answer on whether or not this is possible and how to go about doing this. In sys pref, when I have the headphones plugged into line-in it does not even recognize any sound but the internal mic does work so it is either the headphones fault or this does not work.
    Any ideas?

    thanks thats great!

  • How to Enable Headphone/Mic and External Speakers at On

Hey!?Just bought the Sound Blaster X-Fi XtremeGamer Fatalty Professional card to put in a new system I'm building. I wanted to use this instead of the one that had the 5.25" dri've bay connection because my PC's front panel closes over those bays and would render them useless during most of its operation. I was really disappointed that there wasn't an optical or co-ax digital out from the rear. I went to look at some adapters; unfortunately for me, those would all have to be connected to the Microphone input. That's unacceptable, since I'm an avid gamer and our voip is pretty much a necessity at all times. I like the sound, but the fact that I can't easily switch from speaker output to headphone/microphone is really causing me problems. I wish there was an adapter for that AD link in the back, would make things much easier. I know there's an accessory that may help; the I/O console. Just a bit spendy ($70 or so)?for basically adding the ability to the card I purchased to run my speakers and headset conveniently. Currently I connect my headset to the analog ports of the onboard sound, and my speakers and receiver through the optical port. This lets me instantly decrease the speaker volume when I get wife-aggro, while at the same time allowing me to communicate via the headset mic either with the speakers over my head or around my neck. Any suggestions for a similar arrangement with the Fatalty X-Fi card? Thanks!

Is there a way possibly to connect a tower's front panel audio to the card? That would solve quite a bit, with the audio and mic inputs there. Sorry if this is a newby question, would like to prevent repackaging the card and returning it...

  • Sound Blaster Z headphone/mic not working. I am sad :(

Hello I bought a Sound Blaster Z yesterday. I am running Windows 8.1
I have a Turtlebeach X12 headset and when I plug the mic/headphone jacks into the Sound Blaster Z I get no sound when swapping to headphones in the SB-Z control panel and also my microphone is not detected. I am using the latest drivers, I have disabled my on-board audio and uninstalled its drivers, and my X12 usb is plugged in for power. I also have double checked the connections from the headset to the SB-Z itself several times.
Sound comes out of my speaker setup and btw its crystal clear and I am extremely impressed with how much better the SB-Z sounds over onboard audio.
    Thank you for help.
