Headphone port bro

I liked my creative player so much, always told people how much better it was than IPods and the such but now the headphone jack is broken.
First, I have a Creative Zen Touch and I have tried a few different pairs of headphones and what happens is when they are in and I try to play a song it only comes out of one ear. Let's start with the easy stuff, no it isn't the headphones because they work fine elsewhere and I have tried two pairs, and yes, they are all the way in, I'm 00% sure . Now, if I push down on the bottom of the cord where it connects to the player (down not in further, sorry if this is confusing) it will play from both sides, but ya know, that's annoying to have to do and I keep having to push harder so that obviously means that the sensor or whatever is in there is getting pushed further back. And yes I realize you probably can't help me here but what I would like to know is how I would go about getting that fixed? I have had it for less than a year but no longer have the receipt and I didn't register it (shame on me) so I know it won't be free, but hopefully it won't cost me a new one....oh and by the way I don't have adobe acrobat so I can't read the warranty and stuff that is on the disk.

I just had the same problem today, starting about ten mins ago when i was doing situps, i accidentaly pulled the headphones out of the jack, and when i reconected them only the left channel of the audio worked. I tried different headphones, but it was obviously the machine. if i rotate the headphones a bit and hold them in, the sound is full again. So i think i might just replace the headphone jack myself, Its like a two dollar part at radioshack, and i just ordered someone elses 30 gig version of mine off ebay that was broken with harddri've problems to replace any spare parts that i may need on mine.
that is, unless my warenty will allow for a replacement without reformatting the harddri've. I'd hate to have to take a screw driver to my device this early in the game though. Ive only had it 62 days.

  • Combined audio & video from iMac mini DVI & headphone ports to HDMI to TV

I presently have my iMac connected to my Sony Bravia tv so that the video goes from the mini DVI port through a converter to HDMI to a 25 foot cable, a HDMI coupler and another 25 foot cable to the TV. The video quality is good since I use 24 AWG cables. The audio goes from the headphone port through a 50 foot 3.5 mm cable to a converter to RCA stereo cables to the tv. The audio quality is not very good with this setup and I would like to send the audio over the HDMI cable with the video so that I would have only a single cable over the 50 foot run and could use a HDMI wall plate for a neater installation. I am wondering whether anyone has tried this somewhat expensive solution to my kind of problem, and whether it worked. Atlona DVI + Digital Audio to HDMI Converter. Model: AT-DVID-HDMI

Not sure if it would work. The audio input is described as +audio (SPDIF) input+ which is not analog or the Toslink optical digital. SPDIF is a digital format, so you would need another converter. And since the video input is full DVI, you'd need a different adapter for the iMac's video output.
Considering the complexity, additional adapters, rather long travel length, and $199 price for the Atlona device, depending on what you want to show on the HDTV, you may want to consider an Apple TV. The older 40GB version is $149 at the Apple +Special Deals+ page. You can then stream your content wirelessly, and not have to worry about any cabling. But obviously, an Apple TV does not stream everything that that iMac can play, so it would only work if what you want to show is stuff you can play in iTunes. Plus you may want to see what Apple introduces at the 1/27 special event.
The iMac's audio output port doubles as an optical digital port, with a Toslink adapter, so if the Sony Bravia has optical digital input, you may be able to run a Toslink cable. I believe 50 feet is too long, so you would need some type repeater at the midway point.

  • Is there a way to connect an external speaker (for another room) through the headphone port

Is there a way to connect an external speaker (for another room) through the headphone port  & still hear sound through the internal speakers?  System Preferences/Sound/Output or Sound Effects allows you to use one or the other  --  headphones or internal speakers.  I would like to have the option of hearing music through the internal speakers in one room, & through an external speaker in another room at the same time.  I also do not want to frequently disconnect/reconnect the external speaker from/to the headphone port as I know over time the connection could become loose.  (10.7.4  Lion)

dont think so but I could be wrong
as it were I didn't like the build in audio so I connected some external logictech 2.1 speakers  but there
are times when I use headset so I bought this one
or any minijack splitter will work too so I have 2 things connected to the headset port works just fine

  • I've got a 7 year old 30gb video ipod and the headphone port no longer works! Please help :)

I've got a 7 year old 30gb video ipod and the headphone port no longer works.
I went to the Apple shop and they said it is now vintage and they can't fix my baby they offered me 10% to trade her in for a new model...
what else can I try to save her?  I've tried cleaning and wiggling and restoring. Everything looks and feels ok.

I've just found 'iPod Dock Connector Headphone Jack' on ebay it as an adapter that will connect my earphones via the wide ipod port better than 10% of something new

  • IPod nano malfuctioning headphone port

My iPod nano was recently serviced for intermittently pausing and unpausing itself when no buttons were pressed, even when on hold. I put the reason down to a faulty headphone port as it has not paused itself when the headphones were taken out ever. This is a built-in feature of the iPod nano, and having a faulty headphone port would explain why it intermittently pauses itself. Apple service have replied in saying that there was no fault with the iPod.
This is utterly ridiculous as we have another iPod nano in the household which does not intermittently pause itself and does pause itself when the headphones are taken out of the headphone socket.
I am disgusted that Apple would sooner regard it as no fault than to try to fix it!
With all the good service and hardware over more than 13 years, I am very disappointed at Apple's response.

I have been frustrated greatly on Apple's behalf by this, but I would very much like to have my iPod nano fixed. It is completely useless listening to it when I am running or exercising as I have to continously stop to press play.
Is there any way for me to make sure that Apple fix the headphone port when it is serviced?

  • Headphone port only accepts certain headphones

Up until recently i haven't had a problem with headphones, but when i tried to buy a new pair the quality was really bad. This was the same with other headphones i found around the house so i assume it's a problem with the headphone port.

Likely a problem with the headphone jack.
    - Try cleaning/blowing out the headphone jack. The insert and remome a headophone plug a dozen times or so.
    - If still problem that indicates a back headphone jack.

  • Nokia 5530XM 3.5mm headphone port problem

Hi, I recently bought this phone on contract with virgin a few weeks ago, I seem to be having a problem with the headphone port as everytime i listen to a track on any headphones, I can only hear on one headphone and have to keep moving the jack so that I can hear on both headphones. The microphone on the headset also does not seem to be working on it, I know it isnt a problem with the headset as I tried it with another 5530 and it worked fine.
Is there any chance I could get this repaired at a nokia store in London ?

Should do but you won't know till you try. If it is due to a manufacturing defect then it should be fixed under warranty. If itis due to misuse then you may be asked to pay.

I cannot hear any songs or movies from my laptop speakers - the headphone port works and a red light is showing from the port? The output sound settings are showing as digital optical only? I used the headphones in the laptop for the first time yesterday and have had this problem ever since. Any ideas

The internal switch in the audio output port is stuck.  Try inserting the earphone plug a few times.  If no success, try jiggling a tooth pick inside in order to trip the switch.. If still no success, have the technicians at the Apple store genius bar do it for you.
    Ciao.

  • I cant record a mix onto my imac using my headphone port? Any ideas?

Im trying to record a mix onto my Imac using the headphone port....i was hoping that the line in button would be there but its not....
    Can someone help?

if apple headset for ios devices works with macs also for input then it's because the non std. way of adding input into the minijack std which officially support no input only output is not wired with the cable you are trying to connect you can likely buy a converter or cannibalise a iphone headset and makeyour own

    Hi,
Your machine should have micophone and haedphone port combo:
      http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?cc=us&lc=en&docname=c04372331
You can use that same port for both headphones and microphone.  It is designed to use headset (for chatting) such as:

  • MacBook Pro headphone port refuses to recognise headphones

    Hi
Since doing a clean install of Mavericks (which solved a ReportCrash loop problem), everything has been fine except...
for some reason the 3.5mm headphone port refuses to acknowledge the existence of headphones when plugged in. The internal speakers do not cut out. No sound comes through the headphones.
If I go into Systems Preferences/Sound/Output there is no option for headphones sound, just internal speakers.
I have tried everything (deleting .plist files and rebooting, booting in safe mode, PRAM resets etc etc). I have also tried various sets of headphones (mono, stereo and three ring headphone plugs). They all don't work on my MacBook Pro, they all do work (and make the internal speakers cut out) on my MacBook Air. It's not the headphones.
The port will happily recognise, charge and download my iPod nano.
I am convinced this is an OS problem, as the port has not suffered any shocks, and it happened directly after a clean Mavericks install. It was working fine on Mavericks before the clean install.
I'd really rather not go through the pain of another clean install, especially if this is a known issue (though I can't find any reference to exactly the same problem).
    Any thoughts/suggestions?
    Thanks
    Nick

Duh... sorry please ignore the note about it charging my ipod nano. That was the result of a very tired brain. Of course the nano is charged via USB. The rest of the post still stands, though. Your help would be appreciated. Thanks. N

  • HT2494 Can the headphone port be used as Mic-In? Can it be switched in settings of the Mac to Mic-in?

Can the headphone port be used as Mic-In? Can it be switched in settings of the Mac to Mic-in?
Same question for Macbook Pro (particularly 2010 13" edition).

    what about the new iMac?
I use mic only when working in Sony Vegas and other Sony programs. I'd like to know if I can use proessional Mic with the new iMac and with the old Macbook Pro, probably by connecting it through audio-in port, maybe there is a way to transform it through the settings on the Mac into Mic-in?
If not, then my question is can I otherways use a professional Mic staying in Windows through Bootcamp on a Mac? And the most important - the new iMac, cause that happens to be the only question that stands before me and buying the new iMac.
Maybe I'm a little bit lame in all this stuff, because I'm used to use Windows-based computers to work with audio, but I didnt really understand what all that preamp and Line ment. I know that Line is a super-quality of the sound, guess thats possible to produce only in studios, not even with an extra good Shure mic at home. Or maybe you've been meaning smth else. If you could explane me everything in more easy and detailed way - I would be grateful.

  • My headphone port is not working anymore, i have a new ipod touch

I have a new ipod touch, recently my headphone port began to have many problems, first there where funny noices and now it doesnt work at all. I try with new head phones, and as well with 3 different type of speakers and it doesnt work as well.
    I have IOS 8.2

    - Try cleaning out/blowing out the headphone jack. Try inserting/removing the plug a dozen times or so. There is a little switch in the headphone jack that disconnects the speaker when the headphone jack is inserted.
Try the following to rule out a software problem
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. Seems you have a bad headphone jack or other hardware problem.
