Headphone recommended

Hi,
what's the Headphone model do you highly recommended for Mixing and Mastering to a Home Studio engineer?

Grado Labs, minimum SR-80 for just under $100, anything model above that is worth it, but don't forget to have a halfway decent headphone amp. I often encounter really bad headphone amps, it's a typical item for companies to skimp on. And when I say bad, I mean stuff like the left-right balance changes as you turn up the volume because the channels aren't ganged correctly at the pot (volume knob). Headphones are overly revealing, and it takes a decent amount of practice to get it right, and should probably never be done exclusively. Don't forget that we use more than our ears to hear with. We detect the source of a low frequency just as much with our skin as our ears, and the loss of that input is hard to overcome at first when evaluating the low frequencies.
Also remember that many headphones need up to 100 hours of break-in before the high frequencies mellow out, so you can't really know if you like your new pair right off the bat. You have to break them in.
For the last 5 years, my company has been hard at work making audio exclusively for headphones. There is an interesting free demo at http://www.naturespace.com, and we have a free iPhone app as well. I don't mean to put this in as a shameless plug, it's really that there is a lot of information about headphones and sound in general that I wish to share. Headphones are my passion. And I used Logic to make everything I have done.
It is likely that if you pursue headphones as a monitoring tool, that you will ultimately buy several pair before you find the ones that you understand well. But they are a lot cheaper than speakers. Just don't skimp on the amp. Very important for clinical use.

  • Bluetooth headphone recommendations?

I am thinking of buying s 2nd generation Touch just for the bluetooth headphone capability but I am having a hard time finding a decent pair that i can use on my daily commute on the train and walking city streets.
    Any recommendations?
    Thx.

iv been using the Altec Lansing Backbeat 906. i was considering between the jaybird jb200 and the backbeat. the bacbeat is pretty good(and cheaper), nice comfortable fit, u can use it while excercise an all. but the play/pause buttons and the microphone do not work with ipod over blutooth. and theres no option of volume control on the ipod itself when connected to the headset via blutooth. the lowest volume on the headset comes out really loud. so i end up using the bultooth adapter that came with the headset to get a comfortable volume for my ears.
im waiting for a update to the 3.0, so i can hopefully control the headset volume off the ipod.

  • Looking for Headphone Recommendations for Zen Mi

    Hey Guys
Yup, another one of those annoying what one threads, but hopefully someone will take heart and help me out.
Yesterday I bought Myself a CL Zen Micro to replace my Sony HD-NW, due to the fact that XP 64Bit support for the Sony looks to be non existant. So far I'm very happy with the Volume, and Clarity of the music (I listen to anything and everything)
At the moment, my headphones are Sony MDR-V300 Cans, but I think that it might be time to retire them. The main reason is the 3 Metre Cable that comes with it. They are great phones, but I really need something a bit more shorted in the cable race, as I use them in work every day, and people are starting to notice the HUGE bulge in my pocket
What I'm looking for is a DJ Style Headphone (Over the Head, big cans - Due to a birth defect, I have no ear canal on my right ear, however, with the big cans, the sound vibrates through my skull, and into the Inner ear, which is formed. Voila, Sound in my Right Ear) with a standard Headphone jack, and ideally metre cable either straight or curly.
Can anyone help with a recommendation? Ideally I'm looking to spend sub ?50, but can go higher depending on the quality. I'm looking for a headphone that has a meaty bass, but doesnt sacrifice the Mid and Treble Range. A good all rounder that can handle Rock and metal as well as classical and jazz. I've been looking at either the Numark PHX, the Sony MDRV500 or the Sennheiser HD25'2.
    Cheers for any help

Koss Portapro. The look is retro-80s, but they are the best headphones on the market for less than $50. They're comfortable and they have a rich DJ sound which is good for rock music. They're not a real DJ-style headphone, but they should be okay for your needs.

  • Headphones recommendations for audiophiles

Some headphones that I've owned/tried and work great:
I recommend the Audiotechnica studio headphones or at least audiophiles line:
    http://www.audio-technica.com/cgi-bin/product_search/headphones/headphones.pl
Some people swear by their Shure in-ear. Shure eIIIc or e5c.
From Sennheiser I like the HD450 or the HD650. But the chord is too long. Stay away from the PXC-250 they are awful.
Grado also has some nice headphones.
I also found these ones to be commendable: Beyerdynamic DT770
If you like Bose sound then there are a few options as well. I don't really like them that much.
Feel free to add your own recommendations.
    Cheers!

I've got the Sennheiser CX500 - affordable (around 60 Euros). Have better sound than the CX300, though a little bassy. They tend to get a good sound on the N82...
As a rule of the thumb, present amplifiers and sound chips produce some differences, but 75% of the hearing experience is because of the headphones. So, guys, buy yourself a decent pair of earphones - aim for the ambient sound-isolating ear-canal type. Thus you can lower the volume because of the lowered background sound and spear your ears

  • Recommend over-ear Bluetooth headphones for iPad

I searched the forum and found several threads regarding BT headphone recommendations. Specifically, I am looking for over-ear type headphones as I find earbuds uncomfortable. I'd also like to stay under $100 if possible. So far I have found two sets that look like they might suit my needs & budget--the Motorola MOTOROKR S305 and the Rocketfish RF-MAB2.
Does anyone have any experience (good or bad) with these particular headphones? Or do you have any other suggestions? The Sennheiser MM100 looks nice too but it's $150. Thanks!

The Bose aren't Bluetooth as the OP was asking about.
Personally, I got a set of the Jaybird sportsband bluetooth stereo headphones. I read just about everything I could find on BT headsets and settled on these. They work great and come in less than a $100 bucks. The sound is great for the price and you don't have any dangling cords. Paired right up with my iPad no problems.

  • IPhone volume not working and showing "Headphones"

When I try to change the volume on my iPhone it shows "Headphones" even if they're not plugged or connected via Bluetooth (I'm sure there's nothing connected) and behaves accordingly (e. g. playing audio only when there is a phone call). With headphones plugged in it works fine, playing normal audio on the headphones and phone call ringtone on the headphones and on the iPhone speaker.
I'm noticing this since I opened a game called "Dark Echo", that I've played only with headphones, without using headphones. The game says in the title screen "Headphones recommended". I don't know if this is the cause. I'm also pretty sure it isn't a hardware problem caused by dropping food or liquids on the headphone jack because the area around the jack is clean.
I tried restarting the phone, deleting the game, reinstalling the game, cleaning the jack gently with a microfiber cloth, plugging and unplugging headphones, blowing in the jack, playing media and changing the sounds and music settings.
My hypotheses are that it is an iOS 8.2 problem, a problem of the game or a hardware problem.
Is anyone else experiencing this issue and how can I resolve it?

I resolved this issue by cleaning the jack with a microfiber cloth, blowing and plugging and unplughing headphones again.

  • Creative zen touch car accessor

hello, ipod has this?adapter where you can plug?it into the cigarette lighter and it plays the ipod over the radio and the speakers in your car,i was wondering is there any item like that for my creative zen touch?

A case is coming from Creative.
I don't remember hearing anything about a dock yet.
The video cable was being discussed on another thread, and it wasn't clear whether 3rd party cables work or not.
There's no need to buy a travel adapter. Just buy a plug adapter for the current adapter.
Screen protectors for the iPod apparently fit pretty well. They might need some trimming, or you can just buy another oversized screen protector e.g. for a PDA, and cut to size.
There have been MANY headphone recommendation threads, like this one. Try searching back. I personally recommend Sony's EX5/7 canalphones, as well as the Sharp HP-MD33S canalphones (Creative have rebadged these and sell that as the EP-630s). They might be a little above your budget, but are both great canalphones.

  • Creative Zen Vision M Accessor

    Hi,
I took the plunge and bought the new Zen Vision M (Black) because of the favorable reviews and opinions I've seen online from reliable resources instead of shelving for the 5g 60 Ipod. The one thing though that's troubling me a bit though is looking for accessories for my purchase since I want to buy a case, a dock, video cables, travel adapters, screen protector and from browsing at the official us creative site - most of those accessories are eithered unavailable or not even existing yet.
With your kind indulgence folks, can you recommend me some third party or even yet some stores that sell accessories for the Vision M. Thanks in advance for the answers I hope I'll get.
P.S. Can you guys also recommend some headphones (earbuds) or slightly bigger but not bigger than the Sony MDR-Q22LP which I'm using right now that's in the 20-40 bucks range and a little bit powerful compared to the $20 MDR Q22LP. Appreciate the suggestions dudes.

  • Recommendations for Best ON-EAR iPhone Headphones

I am having a tough time finding a great set of ON-EAR headphones with a mic for the iPhone.
I can't use in-ear. They don't fit in my ears and fall out.
Can anyone recommend a good model? I prefer better bass sound than better treble. Thanks!

Hard to say, we all like different flavors.
If you have had a good experence with say your old Epson like I have, then that's the flavor that I will most likely stick with.

  • Recommendations for over the ear bluetooth headphone

Hello. Does anyone have recommendations for over the ear bluetooth headphones to be used for my Mac Pro? Thanks!

I recently got a set of Insignia NS-BTHDP I am quite happy with. They synced up no problem with the internal bluetooth and work nicely. I had an older set (Jensen WBT212) that didn't work as well but were functional that these replaced.

  • Recommended headphones for editing?

Can anyone recommend some inexpensive headphones that can be used by students editing in FCP? What should I look for when trying to purchase some?
We want to buy lots of these, so we would like to keep the cost of the headphones to under $50 if possible.
    Thanks.

Here's a thought you might not like:  It doesn't really matter what headphones you get.  It's very hard to impossible to get a good audio mix when wearing headphones.  Assuming you want a roomful of kids to be wearing headphones so they don't disturb the others, it doesn't really matter what you get because you really can't do critical work with them.
Sony makes good headphones, Sennheiser makes good headphones, Beyer USED to, but I haven't seen them in years so can't comment.
Your best bet would be to contact a manufacturer or wholesaler or B&H and see what sort of volume/educational discount you might get.

  • Headphones for GB2 recording. Recommendations?

Want to buy 2 sets of headphones.
    For about %50 each.
    For home recording via GB2.
Checked out KOSS Pro3AA, because I'm somewhat familiar with Koss. However, this particular set of headphones...available thru Amazon for about $50.....did not get especially good reviews. Very good sound, but seems "durability" is the problem. Couple of people said that after a few months of use, an ear cup broke off. Koss was not very cooperative regarding replacement. They'd do it, because of a one year warranty, but customer had to pay shipping both ways.
About $50 is pretty much where I'd like to go. Can't really justify $100 for headphones. Good sound would be very important, but so would durability.
    Suggestions? Thanks.

    Raul-
Two things to be careful about:
First, your headset jack. For instance, to use the Jabra c220, I needed an adaptor for my V3i, which is available from: http://cingular.scp4me.com/ItemDetail.aspx?ItemNo=81019CW&make=Motorola&model=RA ZR%20V3%20GSM&ProductClass=HEADSETS
There are unbranded adaptors for sale on ebay, but all reports on these are negative (lose too much volume), so I recommend you buy a Motorola branded adaptor only.
I don't know much about the ROKR, however, so you may not need an adaptor at all.
Second, I've only had this headset for a few days but so far I have not been able to answer calls with the call answer button (I just tried a few minutes ago, thus prompting this post). I am reserving judgement since I have only had a few opportunities to try, but something does not appear to be working in this regard. The sound when playing music is fine though (but there are plenty of better options for that if the call answer button is not a factor).

  • Bluetooth Headphones for Mac Pro - Recommendations Please?

    Hello!
I am looking for a Bluetooth headphones to listen to iTunes on my Mac Pro.
Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!
    Thank you!

yup.. this was added to Leopard 10.5... 10.5 is REALLY flaky though (all around, not bluetoothwise)... 10.5.2 is what you need.
but with 10.5.2 installed i use the Motorola MOTOROKR™ S9 with a Belkin USB bluetooth adapter (class 1 so get 300 ft range)... works really well... good for exercise 'cause they are light and they stay in your ears securely and can take sweat etc and they are sound isolating and have two sizes of in ear thingies for different sized ears.
plus have Advanced Audio Distribution Profile (A2DP) and Audio Video Remote Control Profile (AVRCP). AVRCP lets you control iTunes and volume from the head phones... back, forward, play, pause, volume up and down.. they are really cool and work perfectly.
