Headphone volume low in Windows XP

Hi, I've lived with this problem through 2 macpro's and 3 headphone sets and just figured that maybe by now there may be a fix out there for it.
My problem is that I can't seem to get the voice volume high enough on the windows side to comfortably make myself heard on TeamSpeak.
On the mac side using Team Speak there is plenty of volume so it seems like it is a windows xp problem.
I max out the sound controls on the windows side using the sounds properties in the control panel but still can't seem to get it loud enough.
I've read of similar problems on the forum with laptops but haven't come across a fix for the MacPro yet.
Hope someone can solve this one.

There's only been a few issues with sound so you might try a search if you haven't already and see what you can find in the meantime. Something like ""Windows XP sound problems""?
Make sure you've updated the Mac/BootCamp drivers on the Windows side.
Have you updated via the "AppleSystemUpdate" in the Control Panels/Scheduled Tasks in XP?
If I remember, re-downloading the sound drivers helped for some?
I think one had to use the front or rear sound port (the opposite he was using before) and it seemed to help, but can't remember exactly what their issue was.

  • Left headphone volume low and warm.

Ever since I upgrade to Mavericks my work 27' iMac's has had a sgtrange issue. I use earbuds a lot while I work. This has never happened before before the update and not on my personal Macbook Pro.
    Issue:
The left side of my earbuds is not working properly. Its very low and crackles if any sound comes out at all. It is also warm/hot. The right side does not have these issues. First I thought it was my ears, which are Apple. At lunch I walked with my iPod and was amazed they worked fine. I put the earbuds in the iMac and same problem. I tried other apple earbuds same problem. This only happened after the updates. I have installed all the other updates and no fix.

Most likely, it's an issue with your output; you've done a good job eliminating the options. Logically, it's either the input or a hardware issue that can be solved with a future update.
Or, it could be something else. Try using a different set of headphones/earbuds on your iMac, just to make sure they function equally; if the sound is similar (low, crackly), it's likely the headphones. I'm betting, or hoping, it's this.
Or, move around mini ear jack a little. Do you hear any crackling as you move it or turn it around? It's possible one of the pins got bent slightly. It's happened to me, and repair is your best option.
Or, it could even be a logic board issue. This doesn't happen much with iMacs, but it has been known to happen. Your 27" iMac isn't light, but getting the Apple crew to look at it might not be a bad idea.
Take it slow, and let's see what happens. Post with your results!

  • Headphone volume too loud in Facetime calls - iPad Mini Retina 7.1.1

    Hi,
I have an iPad Mini Retina Space grey 32GB Wifi version updated to the newest iOS 7.1.1.
I've noticed that the headphone volume during Facetime calls is always extremely loud even on lowest volume setting and there's no way to lower the volume further down. It's independent of the person I call, and the same problem appears in both in Facetime video and Facetime audio calls.
The bug only appears in the Facetime app and only after inserting the headphones and (not noticable when using the speaker). Setting a volume limit in Settings doesn't affect this loud volume during Facetime calls. I've tried 3 different headphones and I've also done a full reset of the iPad and setting up a completely new iCloud account.
I also have an iPad Mini (1st gen) and an iPhone 4 and I don't experience this bug on those devices.
Have anyone experienced the same bug? Any solution?

pandora?      once I got used to it, it bacame second nature to simple reach over and toggle the hotspot off and on.  not great if you have the constant need, but if you have the constant need, it wouldnt be shutting down in the first place.
If this is a big issue for you, and there is no persistant wifi available, you might think about a standalone portable hotspot.  Pretty much every carrier in the US has one they would be happy to sell you, along with a data plan.

  • Audigy 4 pro headphone volume cont

    Hello,
I really can't seem to find the HEADPHONE VOLUME CONTROL......
On the package and on the creative site it says there's a headphone connection with volume control on the external box. I really can't find one, only a mic/line-in volume control and a master volume control. There is no seperate volume control for the headphoe output is there?
I lower teh volume of my headphone output, not my speakers, so if anyone knows where the headphone volume control is (as creative says there is) please let me know!

From another post, you have plugged your headphones into the line out for the speakers.
I darsay that as you have speculated on the other post, the sound card things that the headphones are part of the speaker syste and not headphones at all, hence the volume control issue.

  • Windows 7's Infection Rates Five Times Lower Than Windows XP

"Windows 7's marketshare continues to grow at a steady pace at the expense of its two older siblings, Windows Vista and XP, according to the data from StatCounter. In terms of global usage, Windows XP is at 46.44%, Windows Vista at 12.5%, and Windows 7 at 32.64%. Good news for everyone, right? Well, if these adoption numbers aren't convincing enough, perhaps this might convince you (or your technologically challenged peers) - Windows 7 has the lowest infection rates per quarter amongst Microsoft's currently supported operating systems."

  • ALSA - Master volume no longer having an effect on headphone volume

I use ALSA and have both my 'front' (speakers) and 'headphone' audio volume set to max. Then I control the two by adjusting the master volume.
Since my last system update this worked fine however now when I change the master volume it only affects the sound coming from my speakers and my headphones are constantly at max unless I specifically change the headphone volume in 'alsamixer'. This is inconvenient since I have the master volume controlled by hotkeys.
I know I can work around this and hotkey my controls to change both the master and headphone volumes but this leaves room for things getting out of sync. Is there a way to revert back to the old method?

    Hi-
"Essentially" a clone and a clone are not the same. There are alot of things that don't get copied when you simply drag folders. Pathways to aliases are one of them.
Use SuperDuper! (the best IMHO) or Carbon Copy Cloner to get real bootable clones of your system and files.

  • Headphones volume controller not working on new macbook pro

    Hello,
I recently purchased a new macbook pro (15" late 2013) and just noticed that when plugging my headphones (beats solo HD), the volume controller in the headphones doesn't change the volume of the laptop. The headphone controller works fine on my iphone, and on my older macbook pro (2010, running on mavericks too). I checked the Sound settings under System Preferences, and under the Input tab, the new macbook doesn't recognize the headphone microphone either, which my old macbook pro still does. In terms of sound, the headphones work well, and under the Output tab, the Headphones appear, as normal. The sound can also be adjusted using the keyboard keys and the volume adjust on screen, but not with the headphones volume controller, which seems odd to me.
Is there a way to fix this?
    Thanks for your time!
    Melissa

    Hi,
I also noticed this... when I use my old earphones (the white Apple ones that come with the iphone) on my new laptop, everything works fine, including the microphone, volume control, skipping songs... etc. But my other headphones are not recognised at all, just as audio output and nothing else.
My old macbook, however, still fully recognizes both my old earphones and my "troublesome" Beats headphones, even after the latest system update, as does my iphone
So I still don't know what is happening.
Just telling you this so that you make 100% sure your earphones are faulty before discarding them!

The phone may be stuck in headset mode. Rapidly plug and unplug a headset 10x to free up the switch inside the jack.

  • [solved]Audigy 2 zs headphone volume

I have a soundblaster audigy 2 zs soundcard.  I just bought a special cable that allowed me to connect the sound card to my front panel mic/headphone plugs. (creative used a weird connector that is pin compatible with ac97, but no ac97 connector would fit it!)  I've played around with the volume settings in alsamixer, but I cannot separate the headphone volume from the main (analog) volume controller.
I would like to have separate volume settings for the main speakers and for my headphones.  Alsamixer actually has an Item called "headphones" but it doesn't seem to do anything.  Has anyone gotten this to work?  If this isn't possible, can someone recommend a soundcard capable of this?  The more I learn about this soundcard, the more I realize that Creative put out a very strange and impractical product.  Back in the day it seemed like soundblaster was the card to get if you ran linux.  Is this still true?

LOL.  This is a nonissue for me since I discovered that my headphones actually have their own volume control!

  • Upgradation of Volume license of Windows 8 Pro to Windows 8.1

    Hello,
My organization purchased a Volume license of Windows 8 Pro.
Windows Prompts for Upgrade to Windows 8.1 but when clicked on it. Windows Store gets open and nothing happens.
I gone through some of the Microsoft link and found that Volume license cannot be upgrade from Windows Store.
Kindly let me know the step by step process to upgrade Windows 8 Pro to Windows 8.1 and use its feature.

    Hello,
If you have Windows 8 from Volume License, you should have access to the volume license download site which is where you would find Windows 8.1.
    https://www.microsoft.com/licensing/servicecenter/default.aspx
Or contact your administrator of your company that is on the volume license agreement so they can download Windows 8.1 for you.

  • My volume doesnt work and when i press the volume button it shows the headphones volume on the screen without any headphones being plugged in. what can i do to fix this?

My volume on my iPad doesnt work, when I press the voulme button it shows the headphones volume on the screen without any headphones being plugged in. Is there a fix for this?

Try going to settings> general > reset> reset all settings. If that doesn't work. Place a headphone jack in there and just pull it out a couple times. The problem is either your iPad setting is stuck or there is actually a hardware problem and moving the jack in and out might fix it

  • IMac late 2013 headphone volume extremely low

Just got an iMac late 2013, works perfectly and the internal speakers work fine. But once I plug in a headphone, the volume coming out is so low that with volume adjusted to max it's less than audible in an office environment. Tried VLC boost, even with that it's just about audible.
    Running latest Maverick.
    Thanks.

    Plug in the headphone.
    1. System Preferences > Sound > Output  > Balance
Make sure that the volume slider is set at the middle.
    2. Applications > Utilities > Audio MIDI Setup
        Audio Devices window
        Side Bar
        Click the Built-in Output.
Under Mute any of the boxes checked? If so, uncheck it.
Make sure that CH1 and CH2 volume sliders are at the middle and matched.

  • Headphone volume too low

I have recently purchased the Z3, particularly for its advertised audio features.
Unfortunately, the audio volume does not go loud enough in all 3 sets of headphones I have tried.
    Is this normal?

I'm sorry to hear you're having issues with your sound quality. Please note that when you use a headphone, make sure you open walkman and increase the volume from there. You will not get this notification if you increase the volume without having the walkman app open. A pop up will say that "going above the volume limit is not safe etc." Make sure that you accept the risk and the volume should increase. Also check the settings in walkman, enable ClearAudio. Finally, make sure the volume on your headphone (if applicable) is the highest.
    Good luck.
The volume is much too low and for a phone this expensive i would expect better ,and there is no notification
allowing one to increase the volume when up full like there used to be ,and quite honestly the  decision should be mine on how low or high  the volume should be ,and there is still time to send this phone back ,which might act as a wake up call for Sony ,best wishes Brian.
