Headphones and constant pausing with iPhone 3G

Anybody having an issue with non-apple iPhone headphones and just stereo plugs in general, where the iPhone constantly pauses, as if it doesn’t have a secure connection even though its in as far as it can go? I’m wondering if this is limited to my iPhone or not. I was even able to get it to happen once with old iPod headphones that don’t have the third ring for the mic.

this has been an issue with my iPhone 3g since day one. i have tried rebooting, restoring, and i have tried the firmware update, all with no luck.
there was a similar post on the apple discussion board about this topic, but is now missing. that thread suggested bringing the phone to an apple store. some folks had claimed getting an exchange.
i attempted and of course, it did not reproduce the issue. however, they were using an apple headset. i intend to return with some of my audio devices that are not working. i am having this issue with many non-apple audio outputs (car tape player adapter, desktop computer speakers, non-apple headphones, etc). i have tried 6 different audio devices and they all have the pausing issue. very frustrating... anyone else?

Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.

I'm running iTunes on a PC laptop and ready to move music to an independent hard drive. We want to add more music to it. I have used iTunes for a while for iPods. My wife and I have new iPhone 5S and would like to access the cloud for different types of music, but I will maintain the music in the cloud. (That's my job.) Can 2 iPhones use the same iCloud? We each have different Apple ID's. Thanks.

Music in the cloud is managed by the separate iTunes Match service ($25/year US). You would sign up to it on the PC, and your music library would be matched with the iTunes Store, and high quality versions of all songs would become available to you on any device also signed into iTunes Match. You should not delete your local copy from the PC, since you should retain a master version of all songs for safety.
You can use the same iTunes Match service, but you'd see the same music (you say you "would like to access the cloud for different types of music", but I'm not sure what you mean by that).

Syncing both home and work computers with iPhone

Is it possible to sync my home iCal with my iPhone and my work iCal with iPhone, so all events appear on my iPhone, but not have my work events merged to home and home events merged to my iCal at work? I want to keep the two desktop calendars separate, but have them combined on the iPhone. Is this possible? (I suspect not until the iPhone calendar has multiple calendars as iCal does) Thanks -- Rick

Hey Rick,
This is not possible, when you sync the iPhone to a computer for the first time iTunes will ask if you want to Merge, replace on computer, or replace on iPhone. You may want to Merge and choose the option to put events created on the iPhone on another calendar on iCal, that you will delete later.
You can always backup iCal before you start, by going to File> Back up iCal.

IMac receives message "Cannot connect to Apple TV" - Apple TV can see iTunes library and can mirror with iPhone.

I have an iMac (mid 2011) running OS X Yosemite 10.10.2 and an apple TV that my little brother just gave me (I believe it's 3rd gen from serial #).
I can successfully mirror my iPhone 4S with AirPlay, and the Apple TV can see the iTunes lib from my iMac, but when I attempt to connect to the Apple TV from the icon in the tool bar it gives me the message "Could not connect to Apple TV."
Spent some time on the phone with a really super tech, he had me go through the paces with restarting the router, the apple TV, my iMac, checked all the network config etc - no dice.
I even reinstalled OS X.... still no dice.
Has anyone experienced this issue?
The second tech who called me back thought it might be hardware related. I brought this iMac in for a new hard drive less than a year ago after it randomly began throwing kernel panics and finally it just wouldn't boot. I don't do very much with my computer so it's kind of odd that it would have these issues unless there is something fundamentally wrong with the way it was put together. It doesn't take any abuse - not like my macbook!

Had my iMac taken in - RAM replaced & video card replaced. Able to mirror in the store. Restored my iMac with time machine backup and restored apple TV. Still getting the same message. Could it be some network setting I'm overlooking? I tried it while the apple TV was connected via ethernet as well - no dice.

WOL and VNC troubles with iphone over internet

I am currently trying to set up my ideal networking solution. What I am aiming for is the ability to use my iPhone 3GS to firstly wake up, and then control (using VNC) my macbook pro at home.
I have a Belkin N1 Vision router connected to my cable modem, and the macbook is connected to the vision router via ethernet. On my iPhone, I am using the iNet Pro app, which has wake on lan functionality. Inside this section, I have added my routers internet IP address as well as UDP port 9 and also my macbooks mac address.
The router is set up to forward all traffic on port 9 to my macbooks IP address, however, everytime I then select Wake Up, inside iNet Pro, the macbook does not wake up. Is this a problem to do with the N1 Vision not correctly forwarding magic packets to wake the macbook? This same app will work perfectly on my local network to wake all three of my computers!
Any help in getting this all set up and working would be great!

Netflix and Youtube will not play on Firefox but I can still hear sound and can pause with the space bar. Works fine on Internet Explorer.

All of a sudden last night after Firefox restarted after an update I am no longer able to play Netflix or Youtube. I can hear the sounds from whatever I select to play but the browser is black and I can even pause using the space bar but no interaction with the cursor. Both Netflix and Youtube work fine on Internet Explorer... I tried updating plug ins, I tried uninstalling and reinstalling plug ins and I even uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox itself but nothing has helped. Not sure what steps to take next...

Updates and syncing issues with iPhone 4 and MacBook

Tried to sync my iPhone 4 to computer, says "could not be synced because the sync session failed to start." I have a MacBook with OS X 10.6.8; iTunes update 11.1.3; and iPhone IOS 7.0.4. Can someone please give me some direction?

As a first step, I would suggest quitting your open apps:
iOS: Force an app to close

Then sign out of iTunes:

Restart and/or reset the device:

Windows Live Calendar and Contacts sync with iPhone

I am looking at buying an iPhone. Is it possible to set the iPhone up to sync my Windows Live calendar, contacts and email over the phone network (ie without having to use iTunes), and can the calendar and contacts be edited using the iPhone and will this sync straight back to Windows?

If you are syncing Windows Live Calendar with your iPhone calendar app, then you have discovered something that neither Microsoft nor Apple have admitted can be done. There are a couple of published "workarounds" none of which are simple and which mostly just do not work.
Perhaps you could tell us what you are actually doing?

Using a mac and a PC with iphone 3g

I have an iphone 3g i was using with my old apple powerbook g4 i just bought an new PC and i want to update my phone using the PC it won't let me. Can you use a new computer to update and backup iphone 3g?

I use a backup software to save backups to the TC from windows... it is no big issue.. but the TC should never get any where near close to full.. TM takes a lot of space to work efficiently.. so make sure there is still more than enough space.. since TM will do hourly incremental backups it can grow rather quickly if you do lots of big file edits on the Mac.
Hanging a USB hard disk off a windows desktop is a better solution in lots of way.. it can be formatted native windows NTFS.. and is faster than TC without adding to network bandwidth.
But the TC is great for wireless with windows laptop same as Apple side.

hello, my hd on the macbook crashed yesterday, i have installed a new 120Gig.
now my problem, i have the me-account and it's activated, now i want sync my iphone again with my music,photos etc with my macbook, i have install the same tiger system with all updates and now the i-tunes tell me if i sync the phone i lost my photo's, music etc .... how i can get my pictures from the iphone on my mac to put i later back to the phone ?? if somebody has an idea please tell me how sync without lost my data's. thx

Bluetooth wasn't given full functionality for a reason. Because Apple sells music, it has a contract to protect DRM. This means no file sharing on their digital devices. Bluetooth also poses a security risk, as hackers can write viruses that can be spread by open bluetooth connection. Many Nokia users might remember a world wide virus that disabled their phone and infected them to spread the virus on. There are many apps that allow you to shift files around, and Phoneview is a very good app for around $19. Airsharing is another one.
As for your ringtone, you can make a ringtone in garageband, turn it into a m4a file, edit the 'a' to an 'r' to give you a m4r file, drag it into itunes, instant ringtone. You can do this with any song in your itunes library without using garageband. I suggest you do a google search, and you will find heaps of workarounds. So before you go off half cocked, do a little research and you will find what you want. No cut and paste though.

Apple service and water damage with iPhone 5C

My daughter has an iPhone 5C that was dropped in the water briefly. It started to have problem, so we tried a cleaning service ($35). They were not able to fix it, and they replied as follows:
Repair Shop: hello, no luck with the phone, i have another
service where if you take off the i cloud account from the phone, i can set up
a apple repair for you and they will replace your phone for free. the service

Yeah, that's either a stupid repair shop or a scam. You can remove a device from Activation Lock by going to www.icloud.com and logging yourself.
However, depending on what this repair shop did, you may have no options with Apple anymore. Did they open up the device at all?

Itunes crashing and not syncing with iphone

i have recently updated both my itunes (windows) and my iphone (3GS) with the 10. and 5. versions. since then itunes keeps crashing and only part syncing the music files. Apps are fine, texts, calls, internet, camera etc it's just the music. has anyone had the same problems?

I Am having problems syncing and now, after the final solution of resetting, of accessing my music. When I try syncing again, iTunes tells me it can't sync because I am over capacity (which I am not).
What is going on? Was working perfectly up to this weekend, now the whole package has gone out the window.
