Headphones are not found and do not work

Hello
After I got my laptop, HP Envy 15 j000eb, back from the computer store where they put a new keyboard in it (spilled soup), I found that I cannot longer use my headphones: when I put my headphones into the audio jack, the sound keeps coming from the laptop speakers, and nothing is heard coming from the headphones (tried with several headphones, they work fine on other computers).
I updated the audio driver with a download found on the hp site (http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?os=4158&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&sw_lang=&product=5390... as suggested in another question on this forum, but the problem stayed the same.
My audio worked just fine untill before I gave my laptop in for reparation.
What should I do? Is there another easy way to fix it or is it a hardware issue?
This question was solved.

Hello Simon42,
I see that after having the notebook in to a shop for repairs with the keyboard, it is no longer recognizing the headphones. I will try to assist you.
To start, as it wasn't in your post I recommend the basics.
1) Test the notebook with another set of headphones, just to verify that it's the jack or that headphones are working at all. If you have them or know someone even try a usb set.
2) Test the headphones, plug them into something else to make sure they are working correctly.
This will indicate if the issue is the notebook or headset. It more then likely is the notebooks headphone jack, but it's always worth testing to be certain.
From that point, if it is the notebook I'd recommend contacting support for repair/replacement options.

    Update: While the driver I knew would work has not shown up yet, I did some detective work and explored some other broadcom wireless card driver folders from some HP links, and I found one that should work for you. While it says it is for HP desktop PC's, they put the exact same wireless card form factor in a desktop PC that they do in a notebook PC. I see no reason why this driver would not work, since the setup information file contains the same hardware ID that you posted.  Here is a partial copy and paste of the driver setup information file and you can see the hardware ID you posted is supported by this driver.  x86 - Win7

  • Upgrading to 11.1.1.2, registry.xml not found and oracle_common not found

    We are running OFM 11.1.1.1, with the OID component only (and no weblogic domain). We're trying to upgrade to 11.1.1.2, and when running the ant master-patch-schema command, we're getting the following errors:

    Has anyone seen this before?

    I worked through this issue with the assistance of Oracle Support. What we ended up doing was the following:
    1) Install (do not configure) the 11.1.1.2.0 verion
    2) patchMaster.properties should have these values filled in:
    patchMaster.Componentlist=OID
    patchMaster.Schemaurl=jdbc:oracle:thin:@<hostname>:<port>:<sid>
    patchMaster.Schemauser=SYS AS SYSDBA
    patchMaster.Schemaprefix=ODS
    patchMaster.Mwhomenew=/ora01/app/oracle/product/middleware11g
    patchMaster.Mwhomeold=/ora01/app/oracle/product/middleware
    patchMaster.Oracleinstancenewlist=/ora01/app/oracle/product/middleware11g/asinst_1
    patchMaster.Oracleinstanceoldlist=/ora01/app/oracle/product/middleware/instances/asinst_1
    patchMaster.Oraclehomenew=/ora01/app/oracle/product/middleware11g/Oracle_IDM1
    patchMaster.Oraclehomeold=/ora01/app/oracle/product/middleware/Oracle_IDM1
    patchMaster.Loglevel=debug
    patchMaster.ValidationErrorContinue=true
    The ValidaitonErrorContinue=true basically means ignore errors and continue -- so we ignored the files not found errors.
    3) run the 'ant master-patch-schema' command
    4) run the 'ant master-patch-oinstance' command
    5) copy the wallets folder and files (the ewallet.p12 and cwallet.sso files did not get migrated)
    6) Modify environment variables and custom start up scripts for new middleware and instance home directories

  • Itunes 12 track names not found and user not registered for online use

    I recently downloaded itunes 12, and now when I try to import a CD the track names or CD information is not found.... So when I click on options to Get Track Names....it tells me user is not registered for online use... I am running windows 7.
    I have tried un-installing and re-installing - didn't work.
    I have tried removing a file and then have it repaired... didn't work.
    Any other ideas on how to solve this problem?

    You could try deleting the entire %appdata%/Apple Computer folder or look for parallel files/folders in the C:\Users\<User>\AppData\Local or C:\Users\<User>\AppData\LocalLow folders in case a corrupt file is persisting there.
    Or it might not be the preference files after all...

  • "Serial Number Not Found" and battery not charging

    Hi,
    I have a problem with my Compaq mini 110c 1030sf. It started a few months ago, when a weird red message appeared on the Compaq boot logo : "Serial Number Not Found".
    Everything was still working fine though, that's why I did not try to fix it.
    However, about a month ago, when I started the computer (it had been inactive for three weeks), the battery was not charging. Since then, I can't run the computer using the battery, I have to let the AC adapter plugged.
    Windows said : 0%, not charging.
    Ubuntu says : 0%, completely charged
    I removed the battery and put it back, it started to charge, but stopped after 3 or 4 seconds.
    I also tryed updating bios, but it changed nothing.
    Could anyone please help me ? ^^

    If your mini is still within warranty contact HP.
     Have you tried the battery test in the HP Support Assistant?
    Your BIOS has issues if you have seen that message. That is something you cannot correct on your own as it requires HP's proprietary software to enter the information in the BIOS.
    Best regards,
    erico

    Start with the section Install missing components which should address your particular error. If you've already tried a complete uninstall and reinstall try opening iTunes in safe mode (hold down CTRL+SHIFT) as you start iTunes, then going to Edit > Preferences > Store and turning off Show iTunes in the Cloud purchases. You may find iTunes will now start normally.

    The system cannot find the file specified
    I have tried from so many forms. This is so frustrating. Thank for everyone/anyone who wants to help. So this is what happened: I had to uninstall my previous sqlserver 2012(which worked great) for some reason, and I uninstalled everything from that download.
    Then I installed the trial edition of sql server 2012 (64 Bit) and It wouldn't connect to the database. (Error mentioned above.) My local DB is COWBOYS. (COWBOYS is also my computer name.) After this, I have tried downloading sqlexpress and sqlserver 64bit
    many times and cannot connect to my local DB.
    How do I connect to my Local DB?
    Also, I think this might help: (When I run sqlserve.exe, which I was able to find in C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\110\LocalDB\Binn, I get an error: Your SQL server installation is either corrupt or has been tampered with(Error getting
    instance ID from name). Please uninstall then re-run setup to correct this problem.
    I would happily re install it, if it wasn't my 20th time.
    I don't have any remote connections, I don't use username/password, only window authentication. I work mostly on visual studio, but without able to store /retrieve data, I don't know how to survive.
    May be the solution is very simple, but I am too frustrated.
    Some of the things I have tried:
    From a command prompt, enter one of the following commands:
    net start "SQL Server Agent (MSSQLSERVER)" OR
    net start "SQL Server Agent(instancename)"(for instance)
    on my sql configuration, I cannot start anything because there is nothing there to start. I can post more details, if that would help. Also, some more details about the error:

    Any one that can help me, I will be greatful. Thank you so much. p.s. please ask me anything if you have any questions.

    It sounds like there are a couple things going on here.  First check if you have a successful install of SQL Server, then we'll figure out the connection issues.
    Can you launch SQL Server Configuration Manager and check for SQL Server (MSSQLSERVER) if default instance or SQL Server (other name) if you've configured your instance as a named instance.  Once you find this, make sure the service is started.
    If not started, try to start it and see if it throws an error.  If you get an error, post the error message your hitting.  If the service starts, you can then launch SSMS and try to connect.  If you have a default instance, you can use the machine
    name in the connection dialog.  Ex:  "COWBOYS" where Cowboys is the machine name.  However, if you named the SQL Server instance during install, you'll need to connect using the machine\instance format.  Ex:  COWBOYS\Romo (where Romo
    is the instance name you set during install).
    You can also look at the summary.txt file in the SQL Server setup error logs to see what happened on the most recent install.  Past install history is archived in the log folder if you need to dig those up to help troubleshoot, but the most
    recent one may help get to the bottom of it if there is an issue with setup detecting a prior instance that needs to be repaired.

  • Since I downloaded the upgraded software, my charger that came with my phone says "this cable or accessory is not certified and may not work reliably with this iphone"  It worked before but now it doesn't...I don't think I should have to buy a new one...

    since I upgraded to the new operating system my charger no longer works...
    It says"this cable or accessory is not certified and may not work reliably with this iPhone"

    Try checking your cable socket/lightning cable for dirt, grime, pocket lint, etc. I could not find the solution to this issue myself and after much searching I found someone stating that cleaning this out helped them immensely.
    After taking a wooden toothpick (making sure the phone was OFF first) and gently clearing out the edges and inside of the lightning socket this went away.) It is worth noting that I had a significant amount of dust or lint buildup along the edge rails which I think was causing the iphone to believe it was plugged into something when it was not.
    Try it and see, ensure you are very careful and do not use any conductive tools to clean the area in question. Compressed air also does wonders here.

  • Getting "Data source name not found and no default driver specified"

    Hi all,
    I'm trying to create a connection in SQL Developer (1.5.0.53) to an Access MDB using the Access Tab on the "New / Select Database Connection" window. I navigate to my MDB and then click the Test button and this is what I get:
    "Status : Failure - Test failed: [Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Data source name not found and no default driver specified"
    I do have the 1.6 JVM.
    Not a show stopper, but would like to see how SQL Developer works with Access tables, so any help would be appreciated.
    TIA,
    Steve

    This error message sounds like the MS Access ODBC driver or the Jet Engine drivers are not found. First of all you need to check the PATH environment setting if it includes the windows/system32 directory as this is the default directory for the MS Access ODBC drivers.
    Next check if you are a normal user or a local admin user. As local admin open the ODBC Adminstartor (Control Panel/administrative tools) and check if a MS Access ODBC driver is registered.
    If all above is true, please get from www.sysinternals.com and et the process monitor. Open it and apply a filter: Process name is sqldevloper.exe
    Then start SQL Developer and open your created MS Access link. Process mon will now track all info containing all additional DLLs it tries to load.
    Check out the generated log file from the bottom (last info about the mdb file load) to the top and look if it really finds all libraries, especially the MsAccess and Jet libraries.

  • OBDC Data Source Error - Data source name not found and no default driver specified

    Hello,
    I get this error whenever I try to use the "Modify Microsoft Access Database" tab to update my
    Access 2000 database after a conversion:
    Unable to connect to target database.
    java.sql.SQLException: [Microsoft] [ODBC Driver Manager]
    Data source name not found and no default driver specified
    Now, the weird thing is that when I log in as Administrator and go to the "Control Panel" there is
    no "ODBC Data Sources" option to chose from. So I went to the "Microsoft ODBC Administrator"
    from the "Configuration and Migration Tools" tab instead. I tried configuring "omwb_msaccess"
    under the "User DSN" tab with both the name of my Access file, and the "small.mdb" file that was
    in the omb directory. No go for either one. Whatever I try I still get the same pop-up box.
    Question:
    (1) What should I be putting for the "ODBC Data Source" when I try to Migrate my Access Database?
    (2) Any other idea/configuration issue I might be missing that could do this? The process works up
    to the Access Update point, and I configured the repository correctly.
    Thanks
    Aaron - [email protected]

    Nope, I'd already tried both of those things. I checked again, but no go.
    I think the problem may be that I'm not entering the right value in the
    "ODBC Data Source" field on the Migration Workbench "Modify Microsoft
    Access Database" form - the same one where you enter a "Username" and
    "Password" for the conversion. What should I be entering here? What is
    the standard filename?
    The log files aren't very informative to me. Here is the odbcconf.log:
