Headphones don't fit as snug in jack as they used to

I have a 2 year old 160gb classic. When I use my headphones, they seem to just slide in, and don't stay in very well. My iPhone 4S snaps the headphones in snug. Is this just an issue of age, or an issue ? Is there anything I can do, besides change the jack?

Sorry guys, but this sounds to wierd - I'm listening to Pandora as I write this using $20 Sony earphones from WalMart. Or I can plug in my 3.5 jack which feeds into my amp & listen full-blown stereo. Not braggin or trying to make you jealous here - but I think I'd go to your dealer and demand some satisfaction. Good luck!

  • Old Headphones don't fit iphone

I have a pair of Sennheiser PX 100 headphones which I had been using with my ipod video. But they don't fit the iphone jack. Are there adaptors out there for this sort of problem.

What kind of adapter is actually needed?
I have lots of adapters and don't want to drive to the Apple store (50 miles) if I can help it. Does anyone know if this is something that can be picked up at Radio Shack?
It's pretty apparent it's some kind of triple plug (for the stereo headphones and a mic jack) but I was hoping this isn't proprietary.

  • Headphones don't fit it completely anymore.

From one day to the next, my headphones stop fitting in. When I look inside, I don't see anything blocking the entry, but there is a part of about 2 mm that doesn't get in. I can't listen to music, plase help.

The headphone plug seems to be too long and narrow for the jack. It easily slips out when I try to plug it in and I hear no sound when it's sitting in there.
The plug's shape is identical to the in-ear headphones that came with my first generation iPhone, which also does not fit. (except my headphones have 2 channels instead of the 3 on the iPhone in-ear set.)
My frustration stems mainly from the fact that no one else seems to have this problem... it's very odd.

  • Ear pods don't fit the iPhone 5 jack

Well, you must really push them in to make them catch.  Work great now...Seemed loose but sound is great and it work with everything.

  • Bummer - Bose headphones don't seat in the earphone jack

Neither my noise canceling earphones or my good ear bud ones....
Somebody is going to make a bunch of $$ making an adaptor...

    speed2fly,
There is an adapter available through the Apple Store online.

It is in the section for iPhone Cables and Docks.

  • Bluetooth headphones don't work with Macbook pro Retina, but they do with iMac.  Why???

I AM NOT AN EXPERT.  I AM MAKING ASSUMPTIONS.  My issue, tech spec's and assumptions are listed below.
    MY ISSUE:
My Rocketfish headphones work perfectly with my iMac but not with my Macbook Pro Retina.
The Macbook Pro does recognize the device but when I try to connect, it gives me the following error message:
"The device does not have the necessary services".
    TECH SPEC
    iMac has OS X 10.7.5
Macbook Pro Retina has OS X 10.8.2
    MY ASSUMPTION
If I upgrade to 10.8.2 I will not be able to use the headphones.
    Or
The new Macbook Pro's are only functional with bluetooth headphones that have certain specs.

  • HT5312 How do I make a new apple account and delete the one I have now? I don't know my password for the id they use and it won't let me use my current email address?

How do I create a new Apple ID and delete my current one?

You can't delete an account, all you can do is remove any personal info from in and stop using it - but anything that you downloaded from the stores with it will remain tied to that account.
If you don't know the password for it then try this page to get it reset : http://iforgot.apple.com
If you also don't know your security answers, then if you have a rescue email address (which is not the same thing as an alternate email address) set up on your account then steps 1 to 5 on the page that you posted from should let you reset them : go to https://appleid.apple.com/ and click 'Manage your Apple ID' on the right-hand side of that page and log into your account, then click on 'Password and Security' on the left-hand side of that page and on the right-hand side you should see an option to send security question reset info to your rescue email address.
If you don't have a rescue email address (you won't be able to add one until you can answer 2 of your questions) then you won't get the reset option - you will need to contact iTunes Support / Apple to get the questions reset.
Contacting Apple about account security : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5699
When they've been reset (and if you don't already have a rescue email address) you can then use the steps half-way down the page that you posted from to add a rescue email address for potential future use.

  • Bose in-ear headphones don't work with my macbook

My Bose in-ear headphones don't work on my macbook. However, they are working just fine on the iphone and ipad. When I plug it in the laptop there is nothing showed in the sound preferences, just the internal speakers. It's like I insert a stick or something there's no response whatsoever!
    Anybody have a solution??
    Thanks

it's likely a hardware issue most people experience that the detector which indicate if there is a headset plugged in are activated all the time making their phone silent but your issue is likely the opposite
the cure if it exist would likely be the same as the stuck in headset mode
    iPhone stuck in "headphones" mode
    worst case would be repair

  • My headphones won't fit into the jack in my Mac Mini. Do I need a special type of adapter?

Hi, I would like to plug my headphones into my Mac Mini, but they don't fit. I have tried many different types and brands of headphones, but nothing works. Do I need a special type of headphone or a special adapter or something? Or was it an error in building the product? I'd really like the help soon, thanks!

No. The iPod uses headphoes with the standard 3.5 mm plug.
Is the problem that the plug cant be fully inserted?

  • Earbuds don't fit

I recently purchased a new fifth-gen iPod (first one), but find that the earbuds constantly fall out of my ears. Is there a trick to keeping them in? Are there better choices out there if these standard ones don't fit my ears?
    Dell 8100   Windows XP

I have some experience with the sound-insulating type earbuds.
Shure is one of the better sets, but they're a bit pricey. Being that I'm in construction and often wear my phones at work, I'm not gonna risk messing up a pair of those.
Sony and JVC make a similar set of headphones, with silicone pieces that shape themselves to your ear, and block out most outside noise very well. They give you different size silicone pieces as well for different size ears.
I've been through probably 3 pairs of Sony's, and this is my second pair of JVC's (going back around 3 years). The Sony's sound a bit better, but for me they haven't been reliable enough. 2 of the 3 pairs I had went bad for seemingly no reason at all, one day one of the ears just stopped working and that was that. And on the first pair of Sony's I had, the rubber on the cord just disintigrated (but I think they fixed that problem).
The JVC's, on the other hand, have taken quite a beating and still work well. Granted they don't have quite the same bass as the Sony's, but I'm not going to keep blowing $35 every few months for phones that are going to crap out for no reason. (The JVC's are about $35 too)
And as far as comfort goes, you get used to them real quick. Sometimes I wear keep them in without any music on just to block out the rest of the world (i.e. during the commute or at work). The cord behind the head thing works well too, especially at work.
    Hope this helps.

  • I have a new MAcBook Air and my photos don't fit on the internal hard drive.  I want to store my photos on an external hard drive which I will connect to my Air when using Iphoto.  How do I set an external hard drive as the default drive?

I have a new MAcBook Air and my photos don't fit on the internal hard drive.  I want to store my photos on an external hard drive which I will connect to my Air when using Iphoto.  How do I set an external hard drive as the default drive in Iphoto?

Make sure the drive is formatted Mac OS Extended (Journaled)
    1. Quit iPhoto
    2. Copy the iPhoto Library from your Pictures Folder to the External Disk.
    3. Hold down the option (or alt) key while launching iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Choose Library' and navigate to the new location. From that point on this will be the default location of your library.
    4. Test the library and when you're sure all is well, trash the one on your internal HD to free up space.

  • My iPhone 5 headphones won't fit in my ipad mini?

mini? They fit in my iPhone though. They only go about half way and how ever hard I push, they won't go in. There is some on and off sound if I hold them a certain way. I honestly have no idea why...

I can't post two pictures in the same reply when using my iPad, but here is a screenshot of the iPhone 5 specs showing the same earphones 3.5mm jack. The iPhone earbuds should work.
Perhaps you are using a case that is preventing the earbuds from going into the opening all the way?

  • Headphones doesn't fit anymore

    Hey
I have a little problem with my iPhone 3G, the headphones doesn't fit anymore. I have used the headphones with the phone since I bought it (July 2008) without any problems, but today when I tried to plug in the headphones, they didn't want go all the way down, and sound quality was terrible. I can push it all the way down (and the sound is normal), but it goes up again if I release them. It seems like something is stucked in side there (altough I can't see anything), or that something is broken. I have tried with two different headphone (both made for the iPhone 3G) with the same result.
It could also be dust, but I seems strange that it should go from working perfectly fine (yesterday) to not working at all (today).
Anyone experienced the same problem with their phone before?
I'm considering going to the Apple Store in Orlando tomorrow to see if they can help (the ATT store where I bought phone couldn't help at all), but if someone knows something I can try before driving to Orlando, I would appreciate it.

Take a look at this shot:
    http://i637.photobucket.com/albums/uu99/Dakine/3GJack1.jpg
It is a shot of how it should look, the white plastic at the bottom is the moisture indicator. If you see lint you may be able to get it out with a very thin wire with a bend at the end to hook the lint out, just make sure the wire is soft and the phone is OFF

  • Characters are cut off when they don't fit in the pdf report output.

    Hi All,
I understand that Forms 6i and Oracle 9 iAS have been de-supported for years. Meanwhile we do still run a small application in the 9 iAS environment.
We have forms and reports running on Windows 2000 server, I am able to successfully clone the same 9 iAS from Windows 2000 to a Virtual Server Windows 2003 x32 and all runs fine, the only problem is that the fonts in the pdf reports are larger in the new Windows 2003 environment as compared to the original Windows 2000 and characters are cut off when they don't fit in the pdf report output in 2003 env.
    Any advice is most appreciated.
    Thanks.
