Headphones+Final Fantasy XIV sounds like a Cicada

This issue only happends when the headphones are turned on. When they are turned off the sound is just fine. Note this is a headphone+mic combo. Headphones are Sennheiser PC350. I only have this problme with this game.

    With the release of Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn on the PS4 next week, I know everyone is wondering about the status of the pre-order bonus.   • Running Final Fantasy XIV on Boot Camp

    Hello everyone,
    I bought the MacBook Pro 13" from late 2013, and I wanted to play on Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn on this occasionally. So, I installed Windows 7 thanks to Boot Camp, but when I start the game, after 5 minutes my Mac is very hot, and the ventilators are making a lot of noise, I'm so afraid that the computer crash or burn really, even if I putted the worst resolution for the game, so I leave the game very quickly.
    Do I have to update anything? Maybe Boot Camp? Or something else?

    I think your MBP 13 is marginal for gaming video performance. It is working very hard to keep up with the games demands. There are not any upgrades for the video hardware. A 15" MBP has a discrete video card available the NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M which would perform well.

  • MSI GX740 compatibility problems with Final Fantasy XIV

    Hi all, I've bought the GX740 5 days ago and I've tried the Final Fantasy XIV benchmark and the open beta game......both of them never started to work....an error message occured that say "Final Fantasy XIV stopped to work" and it never log in .
    I've upgraded the audio and video card.....not the bios .
    The game and the benchmark give me the same problems .
    What can I do ?
    Do you know about any incompatibility problem between FFXIV and th GX740 ?

    yes I've read about this from other people but the ffxiv open beta program must run well, i've tried it on another computer and it work......it's not working on my GX740 

  • Extreme Lag for Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn

    I'm in Boston. My internet plan is FiOS 50/25. Ever since December 24th, whenever Square Enix took down their own servers for maintenance, there has been excruciating lag throughout the game. It is described as a constant 3-5 second delay causing rubberbands and basically hindering the game unplayable. It is more terrible in the night. Other ISP users in my area, such as Comcast are not experiencing these problems. I heard about it could be P2P throttling issues. Please help.

    DRay, Yeah im getting the same thing, I have been battling with the same thing now for two weeks.  I have made multiple calls to Verizon with little successful.
    I have had my support ticket closed on me and I have been told the usual speil (give it time it will fix itself) and Verizon has no responsabiliy.beyond the 5th hop.
    Sadly there is no relief.
    I had a tech out here today who was given a service order to replace the ONT because the Level 2 network engineer didn't want to deal with the issue.
    Square will not help you and will point back to your ISP (Verizon), Verizon will not help you with the issue and point towards Square (level 3 specifically in this case.
    I welcome anyone with Verizon who actually wants to make a difference to a customer to reach out and work with me to get a ticket logged with your peering network Level 3 to resolve this issue but im not holding my breath.
    Your best bet is to find someone elses wifi to jump onto when you're playing FF14.
    If you really want to keep using FIOS, you will need to grab a service like WTFast which will allow you to tunnel your traffic via their service around the poor (or overloaded) switch at level 3.
    Oh and don't even bother trying to call level 3, they will not help you

I wanted to bring it to the Verizon website to possibly gain some attention. Overall I am very happy with Verizon FiOS. Please help.

    Here is some supporting date for this users complaint.  I too am having the issue and spent a half hour or more with online tech support today with no comments other than "run this speed test" and "reboot your router".
    The problem is obviously not directly on verizon's hardware, but it is someplace in between the Square-Enix servers and the Northern Va route to them. 
    There are probably 50-100 users alone actively complaining on the Square-Enix forums about issue in the northern va area with FiOS and this game, I'm going to assume the previous users posts highlight them.
    The issue is now also coming up on reddit, not just NoVA users.  However, the commonality are the TINET.NET routers on hops 8 and 9 in my example.
    Verizon, please do anything you can to help resolve.  The game provider is so overwhelmed with game launch issues, we're not getting much assistance otherwise.
    LOVE my Verizon speed going everywhere else, just not to my FFXIV server...

  • How to turn the surround-sound-like effect off with headphones?

    When I plug in the headphones into my ipad I notice the sound in the headphones becomes kinda surround-like. For instance I clearly hear keyboard clicks "at a distance" in front of me when using headphones. This "effect" is nice for keyboard clicks but totally ruins any music listening experience because any song gets distorted and is perceived at some distance when played. This becomes extremely annoying when listening to mono content. The special sound processing applied to get this surrround-like sound effect adds artefacts into the sound, please let me know how to turn this off Apple, I couldn't find any option in the settings.
    Overall, I couldn't even imagine I'd get such an annoying and unprofessional effect applied by default without a possibility to turn it off. If I knew that in advance I'd never buy my ipad since currently it's not possible to listen to music with it

    vvtrus, did you ever consider that turning off the clicks or other sounds might have an effect? So, before telling people who want to help you that an answer makes no sense to you, you might first try it.
    Since hearing and listening to music is a very subjective matter which also depends on the quality of the headphones you use, it might be the case that you hear on your iPod something that you couldn't hear on your laptop and portable music player (both of non-apple design). Then you should blame those other devices to deliver you such poor sound. On the other hand, you might have a better hearing than other people which might give you the impression of surround-sound-like effects -- in which case we can't help you either.
    Anyway, there are no settings to turn on or off "surround sound effects".

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
    Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
    least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync all music and resync
    - Reset all settings      
    Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
    All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.

    Two days ago, I downloaded a radio app to my 2nd gen iPod touch. Sounded fine for a while, then suddenly faded. I could hear the music just fine, but the voices were so quiet I could barely hear them. I switched over to regular music and it did the same thing. I fiddled around with my headphones, thinking they were dying, and got it to work by pressing the jack into my ipod hard, putting pressure on it. I figured it was just old headphones and went and bought another pair.
    But it's still doing it. Brand new headphones and they only work when I put a crushing pressure onto the jack. What's going on here?

    I can't be sure, but it sounds like you have a bad contact in your headphone port. I would take it to an Apple Store to get a new one or call AppleCare to have it replaced.

  • Edit to tape audio promlem - sounds like "chorus" effect

    I have tried to Edit to Tape an HDV Sequence, down converted to SD, to a Digibeta deck.
    When I monitor (headphone out of digibeta deck) while recording it sounds normal. When I rewind and check tape it sounds like the audio is "doubled up", almost like a very short chorus effect is on the audio. as well as this I can hear what sounds like tape crackle now and again.
    However - when I do a straight crash record from the timeline - the audio plays back fine, no crackle.
    So thinking it was an edit to tape settings problem i clicked on the audio button in the edit to tape window and notice audio was set to ALL ON. I changed this to A1 and A2 on, thinking that my extra audio tracks (which I had disabled, these where the original audio, not the OMF exported stereo mix) were somehow going down the SDI anyway...
    No luck - did the edit to tape again and still sounded the same.
    My heart rate has returned to normal now as the network kindly will accept the crash record with non standard timecode - but I of course still want to find out the problem so this doesn't happen again next week....
    The Sequence was HDV 1080i, via a Decklink HD Extreme Capture Card, set to down convert to anamorphic 16:9. Sony Digibeta DVW-A500P deck.
    Anyone know what the problem could be?

    for the benefit of anyone who searches for forum for a similar problem - it appears to have been a sync issue. changing "out ref" to "input video" appears to have fixed it.
