Headphones for the Original iPhone?

Besides the V-Moda Vibe - of which I've had two pair; both broke - can someone recommend a decent set of in-ear headphones that will work with the first gen iPhone? I'm working with $100-$150.
Thanks!

The thing is, not every headphone jack fits the original iPhone. I got a pair of Bose headphones for Christmas and they did not fit, for instance. I had some great in-ear buds for my iPod when the iPhone came out and they didn't fit.
If you use Ultimate Ears with a first gen iPhone, which model are they? At least I'll know those fit.

  • Is the iPad 2 charger the same as the charger for the original iPhone?

My understanding is that the charger that comes with the iPad 2 is more powerful and will charge the iPad 2 more quickly than will the charger that comes with the iPhone 4. However, the iPad 2 charger is the same shape as the charger that came with the original iPhone. Does anyone know whether the iPad 2 charger and the original iPhone charger are identical in function? (BTW, my understanding is that the iPad 2 charger will not charge the iPhone 4 faster than that phone's charger will).

No, they're not the same. I compared mine awhile back and while they're the same shape, the iPad 2 one has writing on it that says "10 W USB Adapter". The one for the original iPhone doesn't have that writing, but if you compare the detailed input-output information, it does show that it is less powerful.
I believe that's why Apple changed to the two different sizes, so you can quickly determine which are for "phone" type devices and which are for "larger" type devices.

    Correct.
You need to go to ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/.
The ~ indicates your User folder not the top level /Library/ folder.
Click on the desktop, then hold Option and go to Finder menu Go and Library will be there (only when holding Option as it is hidden).

  • HT5622 Will apple replace the original iPhone  screen and LCD and digitizer and how much will it be ????? And please tell me ??? Thank you :) for the help :)

Will apple still fix the original iPhone screen ???? And digtizer ???

Apple no longer supports the original iPhone. If you really want to repair it, you'll need to either take/send it to a third-party repair shop or buy parts and attempt repair yourself. Myself I wouldn't spend any money trying to repair the original iPhone.

  • Headphones jack on original iphone faulty?

This is a really bizarre one. I've had the original iphone for a little over a year (actually, 5 days past the warranty--of course) and when I plug in any headphones (I've tried several, so it isn't the headphones) music or sound effects sound OK, but any spoken audio (lyrics in songs or dialogue in video) is incredibly soft. So, when I listen to a song, I can hear the music, but the lyrics sound as though they are being whispered in the background. When I watch a video, the sound effects and music are at normal volumes, but the dialogue is so low I can't make out the words. I can't begin to figure out what might be wrong here. Any suggestions?

Is your phone in a protective case?
I carry my iPhone 4S in a Mophie Juicepack case, and I had the same issue with a pair of Bose headphones and the supplied Apple headphones. After a couple of hard restarts with no success, I was about to restore the phone, and try it all again. Instead, I took a small razor blaze and shaved a bit of the plastic off to increase the size of the headphone hole in my case (not the iPhone). That worked until I took headphones out a couple of times, then ran back into the same problem. No problems with it though when I took phone out of the case and plugged the headphones in. I shaved a tiny bit of the rubber around my Bose headphone jack rubber surrounding the metal tip (it is a little thicker than normal), and so far, all is well.
Apparently, the headphones have to be plugged in snuggly. The hole in my Mophie case was technically wide enough for my Bose headphones to fit through, but there was obviously still some resistance. If you don't feel like cutting your case, then try another case, or plugging headphones directly into your phone without the case. I haven't had the problem come back yet, so I don't know what else it could be yet.
    Good luck.

  • Problem with the original iphone.

i have the original iphone for the past year and half.
i've dropped it many times, but it didn't harm the iphone.
the other day, i dropped it, and it died. it didn't respond to nothing.
until i plugged it to the charger, and to the computer.
than when i pressed the sleep/wake button then it lights up and you can see the apple logo.
but it shuts down again after a minute.
i tried to restart it while it was plugged, so it restarts but goes back to- lighting up and showing the logo.
how can i save my iphone?

Either the battery is not charging properly, or your iPhone is knackered as a result of you dropping it repeatedly. Without seeing it, I would assume it is the latter that has caused the fault. I suggest you take it to an Apple Store or to your network operator and seek some advise as to whether it is repairable or not.

  • Official unlock for all Original iPhones

Given that the maximum subsidy period for any of the original iPhones was 24 months, would it be rational to expect that 24 months after the very last sale of an original iphone, that apple would release a carrier update to ALL original iphones to network unlock them?
I see no logical or commercial reason why this should not be done. Apple keep going after 'green' points, making slightly more useful many thousands of original handsets is plenty green in my opinion.

Regardless, at the end of the day it is the carrier that initiates this, not Apple.
AT&T will unlock some AT&T carrier locked phones when requested by a subscriber during a 2 year contract or after the contract expires, but they aren't obligated to do so by law and AT&T doesn't do this for all AT&T carrier locked phones. If AT&T wanted to unlock an iPhone sold in the U.S., all they need to do is send Apple the request if indeed this is required. This is up to AT&T and AT&T only in the U.S.

  • Does the SSL cert vulnerability affect the original iphone? CVE-2011-0228

The software update for iOS 4.3.5 claims that a patched vulnerability doesn't affect the original iPhone
Products Affected: iPad, iPod touch (3rd generation), iPhone 4, iPod touch (4th generation), iPhone 3GS, Product Security
Available for: iOS 3.0 through 4.3.4 for iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4 (GSM), iOS 3.1 through 4.3.4 for iPod touch (3rd generation) and later, iOS 3.2 through 4.3.4 for iPad
However, the original security advisory which prompted this security update implies that it is affected:
Version affected:  Versions Prior to 5.0b4, 4.3.5, and 4.2.10
Can anyone clarify if the original iPhone is affected?

    Hi Ramkumar,
The report is complaining that the Certificate Authority who signed the ID certificate presented by the ASA used a weak hashing algorithm. First, you need to determine who signed the certificate.
If the certificate is self-signed by the ASA, you can generate a new certificate and use SHA1 as the hashing algorithm. To do this, the ASA needs to be running a software version that is at least 8.2(4) (8.3 and 8.4 software also support SHA1).
If the certificate is signed by an external CA, you need to contact them and ask them to sign a new certificate for you using SHA instead of MD5.
The links you posted have more information on this as well. Hope that helps.

  • Credit for Purchasing Original iPhone at Full Price?

I have been out of the country for several months, so I know I'm a little behind here, but was there ever any sort of compensation for those of us who purchased the original iPhone at full price? I heard that there was an iTunes credit or something similar.
If there is any sort of compensation, could someone point me in the right direction? Thanks so much!

    Bear Hunter wrote:
    Anyone???
Because #1 & #2 dont make sense unless there is a cost difference based on whether you bought your old iPhone before or after Apple dropped the price.
I 'm not sure where the confusion lies. The 1st gen iPhone has been out for a year. There was a price decrease after the first 3 months, and as a concession to early adopters, there was a rebate/refund of $50 or $100 back to the iPhone purchasers. That offer has now, as mentioned above, expired.
The 1st gen iPhone was not subsidized by AT&T, so the user paid for the phone up front, and then subsequently the contract charges (including the $20 data plan) each month for the projected 2-year period. Since all 1st gen iPhone owners *by definition* got non-subsidized iPhones, AT&T says we are eligible for the lowest tier pricing. So are current AT&T users who have fulfilled their current contracts that included a subsidized phone.
The second price tier is for an early upgrade. This from the AT&T site: "You have the option to purchase an early upgrade priced at $399 for 8GB (black) or $499 for 16GB (black or white). Two-year contract required." That's for folks who are still in a contract for a subsidized phone.
    Hope this helps.

  • Saving Up For the New iPhone?

    Hi All,
I know if I started a new contract or however long I have till a new phone, I can get the iPhone at the subsidized price - $199, $299 (or whatever they are "new" these days.) But, suppose I paid in full, the "regular" price. At that point can I get the forthcoming iPhone - whenever that may be? Or, am I locked into my 3gs?
    Thanks!
    Jon

If you paid AT&T's subsidized price for your iPhone when purchased new, this required signing a two year contract for AT&T's subsidy. On average, you won't qualify for AT&T's subsidized price with a new phone until month 18 or so of an existing two year contract for a subsidized phone. I purchased my 3G at AT&T's subsidized price signing a two year contract for the subsidy during August of 2008. I became eligible for AT&T's upgrade or subsidized price for a new phone including for a new iPhone at the end of December 2009.
You can check your upgrade status with AT&T by logging in to your account via AT&T's website.
The original iPhone was not subsidized by AT&T in the traditional way although a two year contract was required regardless. Since the original iPhone was not subsidized by AT&T, anyone who purchased the original iPhone paying the full retail sales price qualified for an upgrade or subsidized phone at any time during the contract period.
If you paid the full retail sales price for the 3GS, this means you are on a month to month basis with AT&T - you aren't under a two year contract. If so, you qualify for AT&T's upgrade or subsidized price with a new phone at any time.

  • Is the original iPhone still usable in any way?

Is the original iPhone still usable in any way?

It's a longshot, but what is worth trying is this:
On a computer, use iTunes to download an app.
Once done, on the iPhone, attempt to download the same app. If an older/compatible version is available, you should be prompted to download it.
I wouldn't even try that with apps that cost money unless you have another device to use them on already. But for free apps, it certainly won't hurt.
It is entirely up to the app developer to either leave older version(s) available or pull them so you'll most likely get mixed results and will probably find that many apps do not have older versions available.

  • Is there an external webcam made for the original iPad?

Is there an external webcam made for the original iPad?

There was an iClops project for awhile, but the folks abandoned the idea, I heard for possible legal reasons.
There is an app, Camera for iPad, that lets you use the iPhone's better resolution camera to take photos for other iOS devices. But it does not work with any video apps. I am not sure why I would take photos with an iPhone for the iPad, unless it was for later viwing on the larger display.

  • HT1296 I have the original iPhone and I can't sync the address book from my Mac to the iPhone. What should be the problem and can I sync?

I have the original iPhone and I can't sync the address book from my Mac to the iPhone. What should be the problem and can I sync?

Thanks a lot for the answer. I'm so upset, have no even one contact on my phone. I has to do with the moving to iCloud from MobileMe.
I did exactly what you wrote, and when trying to click the vcf file on the iPhone the screen freezing, and then after few long seconds it goes alon to home.
So I tried less contacts in a Vcard, and i'm dividing my address book, doing little by little and it work.
    Thank you so much.
I still dont get why the sync with my computer address book is not working.
And why when I moved to icloud all the photos I had next to the contacts are disappered.
I had my iPad, which it still, I did not move from MobileMe to iCloud and all the photos are there!
Anything I can do to use the iCloud on the iPad as well and update the iCloud with the photos?

  • Using the original iPhone without service

i just switched to the iPhone 3Gs...as for my original iPhone, i know i can still use it as an iPod. and i can still use safari and maps but with WiFi, correct?...if so, can i use the Appstore icon and iTunes icon on the phone? and how would that work in regards to adding it to iTunes on my computer?
also, if i want to give my original iPhone to someone else, what do i have to do? remove the sim card? how would i reset the original phone to its original setting, wiping it clean of anything i added on to it(phone numbers, music, movies, apps)?

Any app you can use over Wi-Fi will work just the same. iTunes will happily sync with multiple devices. As long as you are using the same iTunes Store account on computer, iPhone and de-activated iPhone, purchases should freely move around among the three.
To use the old phone as an iPod touch, make sure it keeps the SIM card, as here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3406
To clear out the info, you can either Restore as New via iTunes, or on the phone use Settings>General>Reset which has several options.
