Headphones in, audio out laptop and headphones

Hello, I've recently purchased a Toshiba Satellite S55-A5295, with Windows 8 x64 bit, and have been having some troubles with the audio output.  When I plug my headphones into the computer, the audio either only comes out of the computer speakers, only out of the headphones, or out of both.  It's been like this since I bought it, and I can't figure out how to fix it.  I've tried setting my headphones as the defualt audio device, but when I plug them in, they don't come up as an option. I've tried finding the drivers, so I can reinstall them (It seems to be successful in the other posts') but I don't know which drivers to download, and I'm afraid of messing it up even more. Help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

  • Force audio out laptop's USB for outboard DAC?

I have an HP laptop running the Realtek HD audio driver 6.0.1.5869. I use this laptop as a frontend to a home entertainment system that includes a high-end audio/video receiver (featuring Burr-Brown DACs). When streaming audio, I would like to force the audio output from the laptop through its USB port and on to an open set of Yamaha. I intend to do this by way of a male USB to male RCA cable (commonly available).
How can I achieve this using the Realtek software user-interface? If I click the [Digital Output] tab and select [Set Default Device], will this suffice?

I am by no means an expert with your audio equipment.
The USB ports themselves, by default, are not recognized as audio outputs.
If the external audio device you are connecting with a USB-RCA cable is not recognized as a n audio device (it more than likely will not be), then it more than likely will not. Of course, I do not have access to this exact setup to test and confirm.
To see what sound devices are available as an output, you can go to the Start menu, search for Sound, and open this result in the control panel category.
Once that opens, the available output devices will be listed. You may need to right-click in the Sound window to get the option to view disabled or disconnected devices. Just make sure to do this with the USB/RCA cable connected to your desired output device.
In a quick search for DAC, I did find this. It looks like this DAC works by using a USB-A to USB-B cable to connect the device to a PC and then has RCA out jacks to connect to an audio system. This seems more of the optimal configuration to accomplish this task.
Review this document document to get an idea of what the Sound panel should look like in Windows with the DAC properly detected and available as an output. I know this is not your equipment, but Windows Sound panel should work in the same way for all sound equipment that it is compatible with.

  • Trying to have 2 audio outs

My friend has the 13" MBP and said that in the audio options he can choose to route his headphone jack as either input or output. I'd really like a second audio out port, and I feel like there should be some simple way of routing the "input" port as "output" instead so that I could use it as a monitor in programs like Traktor without having to buy a USB sound card.
any help would be greatly appreciated

I am currently using Many Cam to as the source. If there is something better i can use to channel both audios i will .

  • I need to have audio out from HDMI and headphone jack simultaneously

I need to have audio out from HDMI and headphone jack simultaneously.
I seem to be able to select one or the other, but not both ? !
    Thanks

No. You can only use one sound output:
Why can't I select HDMI audio on my Mac mini?
If you connect an HDMI display or television to a Mac mini (Mid 2010 or later), you might not be able to select the HDMI audio device (in System Preferences > Sound > Output). This can happen if you also have headphones plugged in to the computer. Unplug the headphones to be able to select HDMI audio.

  • Bluetooth Headset and Headphone audio out at same time?

My GF and I were on our way to NYC on Acela and decided to watch a movie to kill time. I inadvertenly forgot to bring my headphone splitter, so I figured I could plug in one set of earphones into the headphone jack and use my bluetooth wirelessely. Upon doing so, the Mac Pro brand new, would only let me select one output via sound preferences. Any ideas or works arounds to allow audio out to both headphone jack and wireless? Is it possible to attach 2 bluetooth sets for wireless capabilities to watch movies?

Yeah I do it. I use a Jabra bluetooth adaptor that uses the headphone port. Then I tuck the luetooth unit under my Marware Relay wristband.

  • MBP audio out from headphone jack is extremely low in volume

i just sent my macbook pro 13in (mid 2009 model) to the apple store (out of warranty). my problem was that the audio out from the headphone jack was very very low and staticky. the problem arose about 2-3wks ago. i've owned the laptop since june 2009. i've never dropped or damaged it (no water damage, etc)
my local apple store told me they had to replace logic board which seems extreme for what my problem is. i've read numerous forum posts saying that their computers came back with flickering "kernel panic"
has anyone else had a similar audio problem with their computer, and if so was it resolved in this manner?
    thanks!

I think you may be mistaken. the static coming from macbooks audio output port is as old a story as the macbook itself. IMO, epic fail on apple's part. I am debating complaining in a few months when I decide I deserve a better sound quality from a ridiculously overpriced laptop.

  • Longer cable (6') connecting female RCA L R Audio Out to Headphones In 3.5 on Vizio 32"?

What I want to do, since although the Vizio manual and the Best Buy sales rep, looking at the Vizio E320i-AO thought it came with a heandphone jack, it DOES NOT.   It does have, where the manual thought the headphone jack was,  L and R Audio Out ports.  My question concerns if anyone can suggest a 6' or so cable that would allow me, then, to connect Volume Out on my TV to Volume In to my headphones.  Thank you.

OK.  Apologies.  I ordered the wrong cable, based on a sales rep's suggestion and my not paying attention: more my fault than his.  Anyway, got the order cancelled.   The suggestion given to me is to get a 3" two RCA males to 1 3.5mm female.  And then find a cable with a female and a male 3.5 ends.  If anyone has been reading any of my posts, I offer my apologies.  I am back to square one.

  • Blue Tooth paired but SONY DR-BT50 HEADPHONES not connecting for audio out of iTunes

Blue Tooth paired but SONY DR-BT50 HEADPHONES not connecting for audio out of iMac
Running Lion on intel based 27" Jan 2012 machine
The Sony Bluetooth Headphones work well with iPhone 3Gs for music and phone but I cannot get audio out of the Desk Top Machine eventhough the headphones are paired - they do not seem to connect. I have selected them as audio out phones in Blue Tooth options but nada. Any thoughts?
    Thanks, iMac1ejf

Do they show up in your SOUND preferences?...

  • Work-around for a broken headphones / audio-out jack on an iMac?

My late 2012 iMac suddenly refuses to show "Headphones Out" in the sound panel when I insert a 3.5mm stereo plug into the audio out jack on the back of the machine.  Instead, the sound panel will show only 'Internal Speakers."  I'm beginning to accept the necessity ofr a hardware repair, but in the meantime I'm wondering if there's a workaround that would permit me to mute the internal speakers and direct the sound, once again, to my Onkyo receiver with its attached external speakers.
    Any suggestions much appreciated.

I have tested your utiity, but it does not work with my booklet. Do you have a gudline how to include ?
    Thx

  • Have a iPhone 4 and I was trying to play my music out loud and when I tried it wouldent play. It said i still have headphones in it, but I don't. When I do put headphones in, the music does play!

    Try a hard reset:
Hold the home button and the sleep/wake button down at the same time. The phone will turn off and then the apple logo will appear. As soon as you see the apple logo release both buttons.
If the issue remains check the headphone jack to see if the water indicator has been set off. if it has you will see a red/orange spot inside your headphone jack and would mean you have water damage and would need the phone to be replaced.
Last option would be to back up your phone and restore to factory settings to determine a software or hardware issue.

  • The audio out (headphone jack) stereo just stopped working.

The audio out (headphone jack) stereo just stopped working. On all my head phones (which work fine on other devices), macbbok pro sound is only coming through the left speaker. Anything I can do about this, aside just bringing it in to the shop? btw: audio output is set to middle.

Before taking to the shop, try Reset PRAM.
Some sound settings are stored in PRAM.

  • HT4806 Mac mini digital audio out through the headphone jack

I'm misled by this sentence for audio out port from the support page: "For digital audio, you can use Apple iPhone headset with microphone".
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht5539
It is there for all mac minis starting from 2010 model.
Does it mean electrical digital signal? Any chance to get S/PDIF coaxial signal?

If an optical signal is OK,  you just need one of these:

To convert the optical signal to a co-ax one will need a more complex/expensive convertor.

  • Version 1.1 and audio out via USB problem

When I attempt to use headphones to assist editing, I prefer to use the m-audio USB transit and set my sound preferences for the iMac accordingly, but STP in my case does not work at all. Instead, I hear clicking ( about 1 sec intervals), followed by STP freeze and unless I force quit, my system freezes.
If, on the other hand, I use digital out, or a FW interface or the iMac's speakers, all is well.
I am more than mystified since FC readily works with the USB pathway with video/audio , thus allowing me to use the FW ports on this limited platform.
I have trashed STPs preferences without any result. I also cannot find (or do not know where to look for) STPs specific preferences for audio out. I apologize in advance for failing to find the reference in the manual, if that is where it is and those settings are the issue.
Any help and suggestions are greatly appreciated.

At the risk of seeming to be talking to myself, I can report that I have found a solution to the problem I posted. To be more precise, Apple did, some time ago.
