Headphones in, but still receiving phone calls through external speakers?

For whatever reason, although my headphones are in the iPhone 5's headphone jack, I still hear the sound of phone calls through the phone's external speakers. That seems to be the only problem, however. All other sounds go through the headphone. But again to clarify: When the headphones are plugged in and I recieve a phone call, the sound of my ringtone comes through BOTH the iPhone external speakers AND the headset. I want it to come through ONLY the headphones when they are plugged in. Thanks for the help!

What you are seeing is the expected behavior. The ringtone always plays through the phone speaker unless the phone is muted (slider button over the volume buttons).

Most of the current Apple Intel based computers are comparable in CPU speed. I don't think it is so much the model of laptop as it is the memory, and storage capacity of the machine. If you are going to use FCP on a regular basis, perhaps as a professional or semi-professional, then you should think about the maximum memory and a very large capacity internal disk drive. For instance, one hour of finished compressed video will take up about 1.5 to 2Gbytes of disk space. If you add up the raw footage and still imagery and audio, you'll use up your disk drive capacity real quick. So a hard disk on the order of 750Gbytes @ 7200rpms might be good for video editing. 5400RPMs might be slow to rendering times. Rendering a video might take up a lot of memory so more memory is better e.g. 8Gbytes.
As a rule of thumb, once you get to about 80% of your disk drive or memory you'll see degradation of performance.
You can check out macsales.com. THey have a menu system that will allow you to pick and choose from various alternatives. BTW, it's been said that although Macs are typically spec'd at a certain memory size, macsales.com found that Apple computers will actually support higher memory levels. That is, if 4Gbytes are spec'd, some machines support 6Gbytes. macsales.com will provide the guidance for you.
You might also consider buying an external disk e.g. 500Gbytes to carry around with you for back-up or transport to another machine.

  • I can't make a phone call from my iPad. But, I can receive phone calls. What am I doing wrong?i can reci

I am able to receive phone calls on my iPad air 2. But, I can not make any phone calls. I am using an iPhone 6. I have set up both as required. What am I overlooking?

    Hi Bo S.,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
I understand that you cannot make an outgoing call using your iPad. Included below are the instructions for using Continuity to make calls from your iPad. If you are set up correctly and still are unable to make a call after following the information in the article, please let me know at what point in the process the failure happens and what happens at that point.

  • I have a data connection but I can't make or receive phone calls or texts

I have a 3G data connection on my iPhone 5 at home, but I can't make or receive phone calls or messages.. I can surf the Internet though. I talked to a sprint representative and we went over everything and couldn't figure it out. Can some one plz help with this issue???

Phone and messages is a carrier issue. Sprint needs to check your account to make sure it is set up correctly. If everything looks good on their end, then do a reset on the phone, hold the sleep/wake and home buttons together until you see the Apple logo and then release. After the phone restarts, try it.

  • Can't receive phone calls or texts

Hi everyone. I'm using an iPhone 4S and just opened verizon yesterday. However, I'm not able to receive phone calls or texts, but I'm able to call and text other people and access the web. I already reseted my network settings, triple checked that i'm not forwarding my calls anywhere, and my blocklist is empty. I also put the airplane mode on and off as some threads suggested but it didn't resolve it. It also can't be about bad signal because I live downtown in one of the biggest cities in this country and my signal is flawless.
All help is appreciated. Thanks a lot in advance.

To anyone facing the identical problem, the solution for me was that my previous operator (I transferred my number from T-mobile) had not fully given up their part on the deal. So I went to verizon store, they called T-mobile and got it sorted out. The situation was that any incoming call/text went to my sim-card which was still under t-mobile, and all outgoing calls/texts that i was making came through my verizon phone which was registered for this number. So, maybe this will solve it for you too if you have this problem.

  • I cannot receive phone calls or messages when iPhone screen is locked

    Hello,
    i have an iPhone 5.
i Am unable to receive phone calls or text messages when my screen is locked. When I unlock the screen the missed call doesn't even appear so I have no idea anyone has called me. Text messages come through at about 12:30am every night.
i Have tried EVERYTHING I could find in forums and Apple trouble shooting. This is my last resort other than sending it to Apple.
iit is as if "do not disturb" is stuck on, but it isn't.
    i Have tried:
changing all all do not disturb settings.
    checked call forwarding etc.
    checked mute
my silent button is not on.
i have reset every setting and then even reset the phone and manually transferred everything back onto it rather than restore It from previous back ups.
    oout it in recovery mode.
i Have no success with any.
the weird part is when I first lock the screen and try to call it, it does ring. But if I give it a minute or more it won't ring.
does anyone have any ideas or anything that may help?
    PLease, please, please

I Have also checked blocked numbers and swapped SIM cards from a completely different carrier so it's not the carrier either

  • Receiving phone call will in full screen mode

There's an annoying problem with the new continuity function for receiving phone call on Yosemite.
Let's see i'm watching a video in full screen mode, then i receive a phone call, the video Hide itself (Mission Control) but did not pause.
So if i answer the call, i still have the sound from the video, and i have to go in Mission Control (yes i'm using shortcut) to show the application to pause it.
First i would like the video to pause if i answer the call, and if not it disappear without hiding my video.
I would like to have the same notification has the Messages, when i receive and SMS or iMessage, there's a small notification rectangle that appear over the video and disappear after few second.
Both Message and FaceTime have the same settings in the Notification System Preference.
I've tried everything that i know, made some research on the internet with no luck.
I've tried that on 3 different macs (Mac Pro 2008 with upgraded Bluetooth card, MacBook pro Retina and Mac Mini) using iTunes, Quicktime, VLC and Safari for viewing full screen video.

    Check the software/game settings

  • Samsung S5 Issue (Can't Receive Phone Calls)

Hi everyone! I'm a bit new here but I just recently been having issues with my phone. After the recent update (the one that changed something from OC4 to OF2), my phone cant accept phone calls nor have the ability to make a phone call. My phone can still text (send and recieve) and connect to the internet (wifi & data). Since it was centered on calling issues, I wanted to check my call settings (specifically, I went to: Applications->Call->More Settings) but a popup appeared and displayed the following text: "Network or SIM card error". So far, I have tried a phone reset, checking my SIM card to ensure it's properly seated, and turning my phone off and on and to no avail. I don't know what else to do at this point. A friend of mine recommended me to visit a AT&T DSC but I wanted to consult here first and see if there's anything else I can do. Any help would be awesome. Thanks! *On a side-note, my friends and family have all tried calling my phone and they get a voice message stating that the phone isn't available or is disconnected. Hope that information helps somehow! Phone Information:Model Number: SAMSUNG-SM-G900AAndroid Version: 5.0Network: AT&TService State: Voice (In Service)/Data: (In Service)Device Status: OfficialBaseband Version: G900AUCU4BOF2

I do not think is a Samsung Issue, but an AT&T issue. I have an iphone 6 plus and I am having the smae problem. I cannot receive phone call suddently, but is lasting for over a day now.   They are not offering any solution.  They told me they had received a lot of tickets with the same issue all over different States, but no news of a solution.  It seems the company is becoming way too big, maybe they cannot handle the volume. I do not know what it is, but it is anoying and I do not like it.  I know it is not my iphone.

  • Unable to make or receive phone calls on iPhone 3G

I just returned from traveling; during my trip, the phone started searching for a network, which it has never done repeatedly, like it is now. Since yesterday I have not been able to receive or make calls! Very frustrating, esp. since I was traveling into a volatile weather situation. At any rate, internet, text messaging and email are working fine. HELP!

I've had my X since Sept 2010 but over the past 48 hours or so I have been unable to make or receive phone calls. I can dial out but I hear nothing even though it shows that my call is connected-the person on the other end cannot hear me but their phone does ring and they answer but then there's nothing. My phone will ring when someone calls but when I answer it again there is nothing there for me or the caller. I can text, play games, surf the internet ect... basically everything is working fine except the ability to actually use the X as a phone......any thoughts out there before I have to go hang out in the Verizon store for a few hours to get it figured out? Thanks in advance for your thoughts.
