Headphones issue

Hi everyone, I have a Laptop HP EliteBook 6930p with Win XP. My problem is thatThe built-in speakers work fine but when I plug in the headphones it doesn't play on the
headphones but the speakers still play. It's like my headphone jack doesn't
pick up my headphones and I have tryed  different headphones. Any help? Thanks in advance!

Hello! I write here as to show that the problem doesn't seem to be unique. I am really not the type to complain but now after 6 months I have had enough with this problem! I own an Elitebook 8470p with windows 8 dualbooting ubuntu. The hp elitebook came without exploitation system, I installed a purchased windows 8 version.Same problem as some of the guys here: my headphone jacks don't work, whem I plug them in, the speakers stop but I don't hear anything through the jack. And sometimes they do, but it only to seem "good luck" when I am pushing the power up button. (it works less often than it works)Yes, I've updated the drivers a 1000 times, I've also tried to uncheck "allow applications to take exclusive control over this device" and everything that has been suggested.  Mechanically they work fine as in ubuntu (as always) I never had a problem. It's just a problem between hp and windows.I am sorry to post here with such an aggressivness, but I am really SICK of searching. Moreover the preinstalled printer drivers don't seem to work neither, as I cannot print with my brother hl1230 printer. But this annoys me less, as I than switch to ubuntu to print (because here again, it works) Thank you for your help!I am really exhausted, especially that I have to work with youtube and videos now and not being able not to annoy the whole company is just so. sad. Cordially,Lionel

I made a short video about what's been happening to my HP computer.  If any further information is needed, please don't hesitate to ask.  I would love to get this problem fixed before I have to send my computer in for 3 weeks.

most of the time, the headphone issue arises when bios are outdated. I also had a similar problem.I got it solved by updating the bios and latest audio codecs from compaq site. Go to your notebook manufacturers site and  get the latest bios and codecs for your NOTEBOOK model(improtant).I am quite sure that will fix the problem.

  • Headphones issue after updating to iOS 6.1.4

I have not seen anyone else posting this issue but I feel like I can't be alone. I updated to iOS 6.1.4 and now any headphones I use are cracking and popping. I took my phone into the apple store after restoring as a new phone. I thought it was a hardware issue, but after they replaced my phone and I updated the new phone, the exact same issue is happening again, just two hours after having the replacement. I even set this phone up as a new iPhone to make sure it was not a settings issue.....
Anyone else having this, or have a fix. Guess I might have to just wait till next iOS update and cross my fingers I can use my headphones again.
(P.S. this is using several pairs of headphones. Even tried some display headphones in the apple store.)

Bumping this in hopes, someone will help

  • 8800 headphone issues

Once I surrendered to the fact that my Blackberry 8800 ( tmobile ) would not allow me to use my s9 stereo bluetooth headphones >sigh<  I purchased a pair of "Body Glove" wired stereo headphones that had the correct size adapter.
I listen to my music almost all day and prefer to rarely touch the phone itself, using the headphones most of the day and a Bluetooth ( S500 ) earpiece in the evening.
For the second time ( second phone) the headset connection has failed. It seems that after about a month of use, first the headset crackles when pluged in but minor "wiggling" will make it work; although it may need to be plugged and unplugged a few time a day. This degrades over the day(s) to popping and humming and intermittent failures that become so irritating I just quit using the Blackberry as an Mp3 player.
This truly stinks becauase one of the main reasons I chose the 8800 was to be able to listen to my music while I work and not miss a phone call.
    Anyone else have this problem?
    TIA,
    T

I went through three headsets before I got it to work.
I bought a Radio shack adapter. It sounds funny, but it was a little thicker the 3.5 standard, there was no wiggle in it,
which was my problem as well. Try it.

  • Need help: iPad2 jack/headphone issue

My issue is no or garbled muffled sound from the headphone jack on my ipad2. I've tried all the usual fixes re settings, twiddling the jack, cleaning the jack,, rebooting, and even upgrading to ios7, but I still am experiencing these bizarre behaviors: (1) both my Bose earphones and my Sennheiser ear buds play iTunes songs with perfect stereo fidelity but the audio from podcasts and youtube videos is either extremely faint or garbled as if being played underwater. (2) When I pull the plug back slightly just outside its snapped in position, I can hear perfect stereo with both earphone types. The audio from  the Sennheiser jack in this position however breaks up intermittently until I press upwards on it towards the glass and then it's clear as a bell. (3) I have another set of ear buds from my Olympus digital recorder and these work perfectly on all audio sources when fully plugged in!!!  BTW, the iPad's external speakers work fine. My conclusion at this point is a failed jack but I'm at a loss to explain why one set of earphones work perfectly while two two others don't. Any insights out there???  Many thanks,  Bill

Sounds like the port has gone bad, maybe from some schmutz getting jamed in there over a couple of years. Try blowing it out with canned air. Or cleaning it with alcohol (no water based solvents). You might have to surrender and get it replaced. I doubt Apple will repair just the jack. A replacement iPad 2 will cost you mid-200's through Apple, and you'll get a refurbished one with a full warranty.

  • Headphone issues

While recording v.o., there is no sound coming out of headphones. I can't monitor what I'm recording. When I playback the track, the recorded sound now is heard in the monitors, but not through my headphones. I called Adobe customer service and they said I needed an M- Audio hardware device. I'm using Audition cs6 with Windows 7, through a Focusrite Pro 14 interface. Further investigation on my part led me to speak to an audio expert from a large audio retailer. He informed me that I did not need any other device. He suggested it might be a software issue. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks J.H.

I think that all the advice you've had so far has been wrong in part:
    1) Adobe Customer services shouldn't be trying to sell you hardware you don't need.
    2) Large Audio retailer 'expert' is correct that you don't need another device, but incorrect about it possibly being a software issue, because it isn't - it's a hardware monitoring issue, and nothing directly to do with Audition.
    From Focusrite's web site:
"Included with the PRO 14 is Saffire MixControl, an 18 x 6 DSP mixer. Offering a level of flexibility that is unparalleled at this price point, the MixControl software enables you to create six separate mixes without latency. Route any combination of input signals and sequencer outputs to any of Saffire PRO 14’s outputs. Intuitive one-click configurations help you track, monitor and mix as quickly as possible."
I've highlighted the relevant part. The way you do zero-latency monitoring during recording is via the internal mixer in your sound device - that's the only way you can do this. If you use a software path, chances are that you'll get sufficient latency to put you off completely. What you need to do is use Mixcontrol to provide an output to the headphone socket from the input you are using, and you're done.

  • Very strange headphone issue

    G'day everyone.
Yesterday I received a brand new iPhone 4 and today, after syncing all my music, I noticed a strange problem when listening through any earphones. When the music is playing at low volume it is very muffled, though when the volume is turned up close to full, the audio seems to jump into a state of clarity where it suddenly sounds normal.
I was on the phone to apple about this problem and whilst I was on hold I decided to plug in my headphones to see if they worked for calls... they did, so I decided to test further and see if my music was working... it was, but as soon as I hung up from the call and tried the music again it went back to being muffled until the volume was turned to full. Apple suggested a hard reset which did not help, any other ideas?
    Cheers.

I just talked to Apple Support and they are going to repair it for me, it's just I need to wait til Friday since I am broke from Christmas! Once I get paid, then I can dish out the 30 dollars to get a rental iPhone to hold me over. The restore temporarily fixed the touchscreen issue since it happened again hours later.
Also, nobody I know who would have a spare AT&T phone doesn't come to mind so I can't just borrow a phone and start the repair process now, but the wait isn't too bad. At least they do not limit the iPhone rental to just physical Apple Store customers!
Thanks for the help, folks. :V

  • Music skips on original iPhone NOT a headphone issue

About 2 weeks ago my iPhone began "skipping" when playing music (like a cd skips if it's scratched) this happens to random tracks, at random times, with and without headphones. I've upgraded the firmware (a disaster!) and have the latest version of iTunes, have tried restarting iPhone and restoring iPhone all to no avail. Anybody have any idea if this a hardware issue or a software bug?

I just got my iPhone 3G two days ago, and I have noticed the exact problem.
Music tracks bought from the itunes store stops/pauses randomly, and sometimes it skips to another song.
Sometimes the pause lasts up to 10 seconds with no visible indication on the screen (the 'pause' button is on the screen as though the track continues playing, but I haven't been able to take note of the duration bar).
It happens very randomly, but I only notice it when riding a bus- I don't think it is due to shock, though.
I thought it was due to the changing Wi-Fi signals, but it still happens when I disable wireless.
I am using the 8gigabyte phone, original headphones, and I have about 3-4 downloaded applications.
I am desperate for a solution, I have 12 more days before my shop-replacement warranty expires. Thanks in advance
    EDIT:
I also use a silicon cover, could it mess with the proximity sensors around the phone? I double-checked to make sure it doesn't depress any of the hardware buttons, but even if they did, it wouldn't produce the same problem I am experiencing.
I also have nothing interfering with the mult-func button under the right earphone, and pressing it doesn't produce the same effect (pressing it pauses the music, but doesn't skip, and it makes a clear indication on the screen.)

  • Bluetooth headphone issues

I am thinking of buying either an iPhone 4 or the iPod Touch. Would like to be able to listen to music with bluetooth headphones while working out in the gym. I have heard about numerous issues with iPhones running the latest software where the connection keeps dropping out or the music cuts out. Does the iPod touch have the same issues?

I hane the Motorola S9 HD and it works fine for my 4G and iPad.

  • Iphone 4   ios 6   skullcandy aviator headphone   issues

I have the Skullcandy RocNation Aviator Headphones that were designed for iphones.  They worked great until I upgraded to ios 6.  Now I hear myself and my surroundings echoed within the headphones.  In addition, the buttons on the cord no longer control the volume or pause/play functions for calls, music, or books.  Is anyone else have issues with this? Is there a fix for this?  Any info regarding this issue is greatly appreciated.  I hate to think that I wasted good money on headphones that only worked for about 2 months before apple decided to push ios 6 onto everyone.

If it makes you feel any better, I have the exact same problem with Apple standard headphones, on an iPhone 4 running iOS6.
So widespread iOS6 issue I guess

  • N91 Headphones Issue

I attempted a firmware upgrade of my N91 in June, which went horribly wrong. Even though I did not disconnect the cable, midway through the process the connection was lost and my phone was dead.
I am in Toronto, Canada but I purchased the phone in the U.A.E. in 2006 where I was living at the time. I had to send it back and have the firmware restored there. I got the phone back recently and it works fine except for one glaring problem:
Head phones are no longer recognized!
I have tried several headphones and none of them get recognized. The icon showing that headphones are connected does not pop up and when I play music it comes out through the phone speaker even if the headphones are in the jack.
One way around this is to use bluetooth headphones. These work fine, but these headphones do not provide the same sound quality.
I would appreciate any help in this matter. Thanks in advance!

The supplied head phones of the N91 have different jack than the standard headphones do you use this one? You can use only other headphone if you have the adapter, since the jack activate the switch. If you did used one, the only thing you can do for now is do a hard reset or format & check if it resolve the issue; codes are available in the sticky post "usefull codes" It's just a long shot, & most likely what you experienced is a hardware failure of the phone itself or contact problem in the phone jack. You can buy a non-residue contact cleaner in electronic shop & give it a shot(spray the holes with it, warrantee will not be voided by this)! Else you have to send it back again to where it is guaranted.

  • HT3472 IPod shuffle headphone issues

Mine will play for a while, but then just quit playing. I will try and plug in the ipod headphones right away but they won't work either then.  Let it sit for a few hours and then it is fine.  Anyone had a similar issue?

Mine will play for a while, but then just quit playing.
Is it running out of battery power?
What happens if you turn it OFF (with the switch), wait about ten seconds, and turn it back ON?
I will try and plug in the ipod headphones right away but they won't work either then.
Can you describe that again in more detail?  Not sure what you mean...
Let it sit for a few hours and then it is fine.
Do you turn it OFF (with the switch) during that time, or does it stay ON?
If you have not already, you may want to do a Restore on the shuffle using iTunes.  For a 3rd gen shuffle, select the shuffle in the iTunes sidebar, under DEVICES.  Over to the right, go to the Summary tab.  Click the Restore button.  This will erase the iPod, re-install its software, and set it to default settings.  NOTE:  If this is a 2nd gen shuffle, it's the Settings tab, not Summary.
Then, reload some songs and see if the problem recurs.

  • Jelly Bean Headphone Issues

I just got the jelly bean update today.  Now, I have the following issue.  If my headphones are plugged in and I listen to music with Google Play Music, the first song played is OK.  However, when it switches to the second song, it begins to play out the phone speaker instead of the headphones.  If I hit the skip to the next song button, it doesn't do have the issue. It only happens when I let it go onto the next song by itself.
Any ideas on how to fix this?

I experienced sounds issues as well after Jelly Bean. It even killed my battery life. I think it has to do with the latest Google Play Music and its gapless music that is causing the Media Server to go crazy. The Media Server handles sound from various apps. In my case, I saw Media Server was the second highest in battery consumption, and once I started some music, my volume keys would never control the ringer volume until a reboot, it would only control media sound.
I've since clear data and cache and uninstall all updates to Google Play Music. The app is still a little buggy I think, but no more sound and battery isssues. Hope this helps.

  • Combo microphone/headphone issues.

While this has undoubtedly been addressed numerous times, I'm not quite sure how to word it in a way that would pick up a search for it. I am having issues with audio quality while using a combination headphone/microphone in my sound card's audio jack. When I use a non combo headphone, the audio is fine. Interestingly enough, when I hold down the microphone button, the audio corrects itself. Is there a work around for this?

You will need an adapter most likely for your issue to split the single headphone/microphone into two discrete outputs. What model are you using? perhaps this will help.

  • Headphone issues because of iPod

    Hey,
My iPod touch has been working fine until now. When I was listening to my music today, the right ear cut out. At first I thought it was my headphones, but when I put in another set, it didn't work. The other set of headphones were working perfectly too - as I tested on my blackberry right after.
So what do I do now? I checked to see if there was debris or anything inside the jack but nothing.

    1. Test the iPod Touch on a dock station to see if it sends out sound through both channels (Left and Right). If it does through the docking plug then the issue is with the headphone jack.
    2. If it is the headphone jack then you would need to get it fixed via either Apple or an independent shop which you can find on the internet.
You may also try the RESET and/or RESTORE prior to the steps above to see if that helps.
