Headphones picking up, but microphone is not?

Like, I have a headset from Turtle Beach, and I've had them for a few months now, and they have been working just fine. The headphones + microphone plug in through one cable. In the sound panel of System Preferences, I go to output and it gives me the option of using headphones as an output(which is what I want), but in the Input tab, it only gives me options of Internal microphone and line-in(as well as soundflower, but that's not relevant). Before this issue came up, external microphone appeared in the place of Internal. I have everything plugged in just the same as before the issue sprang up. Is it something wrong with the jack, or something wrong with the headset?

If the microphone works in all other situations (such as Facetime, or better yet try Voice Memo), then it sounds like you have a wireless carrier issue.
It's unlikely that your device is defective, since you report that the microphone works in all other situations.  You should contact your wireless carrier for support.
And who is 'Pedro'?

I am trying to use my iphone, but it wont let me listen to music because it says that my headphones are in, but really they are not.

Try inserting and removing a pair of headphones 7-8 times.

  • When I turn up my volume it says my headphones are in but they're not help

I try to turn up my volume but it says my headphones are in. My headphones are not in and my speaker is not working

    - Try cleaning out/blowing out the headphone jack. Try inserting/removing the plug a dozen times or so. There is a little switch in the headphone jack that disconnects the speaker when the headphone jack is inserted.
Try the following to rule out a software problem
    - Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory settings/new iPod.

  • Try to use Headset for Skype on G5, but microphone does not work! Need help

I recently installed skype on my G5, bought a headset, can hear people talking to me, but nobody can hear me. It's not an USB or bluetooth headset, but with 2 plugins (sorry, i'm austrian...).
Does anybody know what setups to change that it works?
I try the system configuration and set up line in and line out...
    Pleas help!

I have used a headset with the 2 connections. In order to connect I use the Griffin iMic as my adapter. Every once in awhile I get the 2 plugs in backwards and have to switch them.
    http://www.griffintechnology.com/products/imic/
The other thing I have had happen is that my machine seems to auto mute when I switch things around. Sometimes I have had to go in to the System or program preferences to change the settings. For some reason the system has muted me or the program I am using did not keep the previous settings due to having the headset unplugged/replugged etc.

  • Why does my Ipad say headphones are connected when they are not?

I do not have sound on my iPad1. When I try to turn up the volum it indicates headphones are connected, but they are not. When I do use headphones they do work. I have rebooted the iPad, reset and restored the iPad and the issue still exists. Is this a straight hardware problem?

iPad has a mechanical switch inside the jack so it knows when the headphones are plugged in.
    It may be stuck.
Inspect it to see if something is in there, such as toe jam.
Blow the port out with compressed air.
Try inserting and removing a headphone plug several times.

  • Skype 7.7 on Windows 10 Calling Will Not Pick Up My Microphone!

When i try and call my friends, they cant't hear me, so i try to look at the settings. When i do, it says that i have no microphone, but microphone is checked off. It will pick up on the actual computer, as in cortana, but on Hangouts, and Skype, it won't work.

Have you installed the Windows 10 drivers for your soundcard (audio drivers), if not visit the manufacturers site to download them. You may try to remove the mic from device manager and reboot (or just reboot, a host of issues is solved in Win 10 by rebooting ... for no apparent reason).

  • Using Garageband and I cannot hear previously recorded tracks on headphones.  Prefs are set to output on EMU0404 my audio device - this did work but now is not working.

I am using Garageband and I cannot hear the previously recorded tracks on my headphones.  I am using an audio input/output device, EMU0404 - this was previously working fine but stopped.  All cables check out OK and so does the unit - I have updated to the latest version of Garageband but this did not help.  Any suggestion?

    Hi Christoph,
I cannot see anything wrong with the EMU0404.  This is what puzzels me ... Garageband looks OK - headphones are OK - EMU looks OK.
    Thanks anyway

I have the iPad 2 16GB, bought it in August 2011, I worked perfectly but in mid-August 2012 I took her to the store because the microphone did not work reviewed and changed me, but to my surprise that the new iPad had the problem is disconnected WIFI signal I have to be glued to the router, and I did everything he says is supported by the Apple and all other pages and forums regarding this problem is not solved and always disconnects when connected always disconnects again!! passing will be settled as no longer factory warranty although it has neither the three months I renewed new, please help because the investment has been great and I can not use only as "a mirror" I'm waiting a true solution, thanks ....
    Sincerely,

This does help me because I am pondering on wether to buy an airport extreme to solve my ipad 2 connection woes.  I have an extremely old router dLink 524....but I have NEVER had any problems with it at all ever.  My xbox connected great to it and netflix ran flawless through my xbox.....now I have an ipad2 and an apple tv and they are BOTH having horrible connection problems.  I have read most of the forums on how to fix it by changing the settings on my router but since mine is so old I couldn't do some of the suggested solutions.  So here I am debating on whether to spend all this $ on an airport extreme?  I am just hoping that if I go and purchase this, my connectivity issues problems will go away like yours did.  Just wondering if you have ATV as well and if the AE solved its problems?  I have read about AE solving ipad2 wifi problems, I'm just hoping it will solve my ATV as well.
**Glad they didn't "moderate into extinction" your post yet, lol, Thank

  • I'm trying to use a madcatz controller on the mac but it turns on for 2 seconds and turns off. the system profiler picks it up as a xbox 360 gamepad but says its not been configured. how can i allow my self use this with my games.

i'm trying to use a madcatz controller on the mac but it turns on for 2 seconds and turns off. the system profiler picks it up as a xbox 360 gamepad but says its not been configured. how can i allow my self use this with my games!

I have exactly the same problem.
I'm a little peed-off with Microsoft on this. The original wireless controller I have doesn't work either since the cable I'm using is 'just' the charge and play cable, so a direct connection to my Mac won't work with this cable. It's a cable for god's sake. Why on EARTH put any limitations on this!?!?
Next I learn I need an additional USB wireless receiver from Microsoft to get my original 360 controller to talk to my Mac. As I certainly don't want to fork any more microsoft dollars on this, this is not an option.
Next I think, yes! I have a MadCatz 360 wired USB controller. This should surely do the trick just plugging it in and the way I go. But oh no, for some reason I plug my MadCatz Xbox360 controller in, it flashes a few times then switches off and can't be turned on again.
The System Profiles recognizes it as a MadCatz 360 device controller but that is about it, but the ontroller software I download for the System Prefs (360Controller, USBOverdrive etc) don't even recognize the controller as being plugged in.
What the **** Is The Microsoft Deal with all of this!?!?
PS: Oh, and I forgot to mention, there are No drivers for device 4716 that I can find on the MadCatz website, or am I going blind?
If anyone has a link, it would be appreciated.

  • TS1363 My computer is picking up my iphone, but itunes is not picking it up. What is wrong?

My computer is picking up my iphone, but itunes is not picking it up. What is wrong?

See section 5 of TS1538: iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows.
If that doesn't help it may pay to tear down and reinstall iTunes in the following manner...
Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.
    Please note:
Some users may need to follow all the steps in whichever of the following support documents applies to their system. These include some additional manual file and folder deletions not mentioned above.

HT1923: Removing and reinstalling iTunes for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
