Headphones recommendations for audiophiles

Some headphones that I've owned/tried and work great:
I recommend the Audiotechnica studio headphones or at least audiophiles line:
http://www.audio-technica.com/cgi-bin/product_search/headphones/headphones.pl
Some people swear by their Shure in-ear. Shure eIIIc or e5c.
From Sennheiser I like the HD450 or the HD650. But the chord is too long. Stay away from the PXC-250 they are awful.
Grado also has some nice headphones.
I also found these ones to be commendable: Beyerdynamic DT770
If you like Bose sound then there are a few options as well. I don't really like them that much.
Feel free to add your own recommendations.
Cheers!

I've got the Sennheiser CX500 - affordable (around 60 Euros). Have better sound than the CX300, though a little bassy. They tend to get a good sound on the N82...
As a rule of the thumb, present amplifiers and sound chips produce some differences, but 75% of the hearing experience is because of the headphones. So, guys, buy yourself a decent pair of earphones - aim for the ambient sound-isolating ear-canal type. Thus you can lower the volume because of the lowered background sound and spear your ears
Ericsson T10i -> Nokia 7110 -> Siemens C45, C55, M55, M65 -> Nokia 6131, N73, N82 -> HTC Wildfire, Desire HD -> Nokia Lumia 800 -> HTC Desire X -> Lumia 820 -> Sony Xperia SP -> Lumia 925 + Sennheiser CX 500

  • Looking for Headphone Recommendations for Zen Mi

    Hey Guys
Yup, another one of those annoying what one threads, but hopefully someone will take heart and help me out.
Yesterday I bought Myself a CL Zen Micro to replace my Sony HD-NW, due to the fact that XP 64Bit support for the Sony looks to be non existant. So far I'm very happy with the Volume, and Clarity of the music (I listen to anything and everything)
At the moment, my headphones are Sony MDR-V300 Cans, but I think that it might be time to retire them. The main reason is the 3 Metre Cable that comes with it. They are great phones, but I really need something a bit more shorted in the cable race, as I use them in work every day, and people are starting to notice the HUGE bulge in my pocket
What I'm looking for is a DJ Style Headphone (Over the Head, big cans - Due to a birth defect, I have no ear canal on my right ear, however, with the big cans, the sound vibrates through my skull, and into the Inner ear, which is formed. Voila, Sound in my Right Ear) with a standard Headphone jack, and ideally metre cable either straight or curly.
Can anyone help with a recommendation? Ideally I'm looking to spend sub ?50, but can go higher depending on the quality. I'm looking for a headphone that has a meaty bass, but doesnt sacrifice the Mid and Treble Range. A good all rounder that can handle Rock and metal as well as classical and jazz. I've been looking at either the Numark PHX, the Sony MDRV500 or the Sennheiser HD25'2.
    Cheers for any help

Koss Portapro. The look is retro-80s, but they are the best headphones on the market for less than $50. They're comfortable and they have a rich DJ sound which is good for rock music. They're not a real DJ-style headphone, but they should be okay for your needs.

  • Recommendations for over the ear bluetooth headphone

Hello. Does anyone have recommendations for over the ear bluetooth headphones to be used for my Mac Pro? Thanks!

I recently got a set of Insignia NS-BTHDP I am quite happy with. They synced up no problem with the internal bluetooth and work nicely. I had an older set (Jensen WBT212) that didn't work as well but were functional that these replaced.

Does anyone have recommendations for a microphone for the 6th generation nano that is NOT part of a headphone set? (Think of things like the older third-party products for past nanos or ipods).

  • Recommendations for Bluetooth headphones?

Does anyone have a recommendation for a good set of Bluetooth stereo headphones?  I am looking mainly to listen to music and watch videos but would make an occasional call with them. I purchased the Plantronics backbeat and while the sound quality is fine they just don't get loud enough. I have read similar complaints about the Jaybird freedom.  Any suggestions?
    Thanks

yup.. this was added to Leopard 10.5... 10.5 is REALLY flaky though (all around, not bluetoothwise)... 10.5.2 is what you need.
but with 10.5.2 installed i use the Motorola MOTOROKR™ S9 with a Belkin USB bluetooth adapter (class 1 so get 300 ft range)... works really well... good for exercise 'cause they are light and they stay in your ears securely and can take sweat etc and they are sound isolating and have two sizes of in ear thingies for different sized ears.
plus have Advanced Audio Distribution Profile (A2DP) and Audio Video Remote Control Profile (AVRCP). AVRCP lets you control iTunes and volume from the head phones... back, forward, play, pause, volume up and down.. they are really cool and work perfectly.

  • Recommend a headphones solution for me!

I'm a new iPhone 3G owner and am looking for the cleanest, lowest profile, best quality, money-is-no-object, wireless/bluetooth headphone solution for purposes of listening to music in stereo. Suggestions?

You can buy a stereo bluetooth headset that has an adaptor, I have one.
The iPhone supports connecting to hands free car kits and headsets via bluetooth.

  • Headphone amp for use with i-mac

    Hi,
Im looking for a headphone amplifier for use with my i-mac and logic 9, im using a pair of sennheiser HD 650's, can anyone recommend one?
    Thanx...

You can't write to it because it's formatted as NTFS which OS X will read but not write to. If you want to continue using the drive with both a PC and OS X you will need to download and install NTFS-3G so you can then write to it from your Mac. You can get NTFS-3G at:
    http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/24481/ntfs-3g
If you want to use the drive exclusively with your Mac then move the data off it and reformat it in Disk Utility (Applications - Utilities - Disk Utilities) as Mac OS Extended (Journaled.)

  • Headphone recommended

    Hi,
what's the Headphone model do you highly recommended for Mixing and Mastering to a Home Studio engineer?

Grado Labs, minimum SR-80 for just under $100, anything model above that is worth it, but don't forget to have a halfway decent headphone amp. I often encounter really bad headphone amps, it's a typical item for companies to skimp on. And when I say bad, I mean stuff like the left-right balance changes as you turn up the volume because the channels aren't ganged correctly at the pot (volume knob). Headphones are overly revealing, and it takes a decent amount of practice to get it right, and should probably never be done exclusively. Don't forget that we use more than our ears to hear with. We detect the source of a low frequency just as much with our skin as our ears, and the loss of that input is hard to overcome at first when evaluating the low frequencies.
Also remember that many headphones need up to 100 hours of break-in before the high frequencies mellow out, so you can't really know if you like your new pair right off the bat. You have to break them in.
For the last 5 years, my company has been hard at work making audio exclusively for headphones. There is an interesting free demo at http://www.naturespace.com, and we have a free iPhone app as well. I don't mean to put this in as a shameless plug, it's really that there is a lot of information about headphones and sound in general that I wish to share. Headphones are my passion. And I used Logic to make everything I have done.
It is likely that if you pursue headphones as a monitoring tool, that you will ultimately buy several pair before you find the ones that you understand well. But they are a lot cheaper than speakers. Just don't skimp on the amp. Very important for clinical use.

  • Headphone compatibility for ibook?

I need to buy a pair of headphones to listen to music on my ibook G4. Are all headphones compatible with ipods also compatible with the ibook? If not, what compatibility parameters do I need to know about? Does anyone have recommendations for ibook-compatible headphones sold through the Apple store?
    Thanks for your help.
    iBook G4   Mac OS X (10.4.4)

Are all headphones compatible with ipods also compatible with the ibook?
Both the iPod and iBook have standard headphone jacks that will work with standard headphones.

  • How can I remove the background sound from the headphone jack for my MacBoo

for my MacBook Air problem adding music intensifier (Panasonic ST-HT1000) to give it an unpleasant sound background that sounds like a whiz, it's not so loud, but it is an unpleasant .. after a short time can get used to, but the fizz does not pass, however, believe that it is a big problem.
Further I notice that when MacBookAir disconnected from the charger, it remains quieter sound.
At first thought that the headphone jack (3.5 mm Headphone:
Connection: 1/8-Inch Jack) or wiere have problem, but tried 3 different cables, but that does change enything, the problem remains.
When I added iPhonu3GS playing - the background sound were not, then everything is OK!
How can I remove the background sound from the headphone jack for my MacBook Air 13?

There is no way to bring that up unless you have it typed in a document. You can use My Support Profile to find a list of serial numbers that have been purchased or registered with your Apple ID.

  • Can I use a Bluetooth headphone/microphone for capture sound instead of normal iPhone mic when shooting video?

Can I use a Bluetooth headphone/microphone for capture sound instead of normal iPhone mic when shooting video?
The sound when I record video is not so good, so I'm trying to use the Bluetooth headphone/microphone to capture a person voice but not know which setting to use.

    Hi Robert
Thanks for answering. I didn't know where to post other than the bluetooth forum which is relatively quiet and had no answers forthcoming.
Yes the voice isn't reaching the amp although it is registering on the input bar in the Sound System Prefs, just won't "play through" as it were. I can't see how it could be done I was just hoping someone might see something I am missing.
It seems a shame that you can't do it as iTunes on an old iBook makes a good juke box for DJ'ing and with everything becoming wireless these days it seems sensible that you could cut that one last wire.

  • Recommendations for a new monitor?

    Greetings,
I'm looking for a new monitor for my Powermac G4 450 MHz AGP (sawtooth).
I'm currently using a Formac Gallery 1740 after 6 years it's starting to faded out on me.
I'd really appreciate any suggestion or Recommendations for a new one.
    Aisha K.

I'm using a 17" LCD, Acer model AL1706 on my G4 400MHz AGP. Was plug 'n play and has been flawless over the years. I'm sure the current model numbers are different.

  • Need a printer recommendation for a small office

hey folks, hoping someone might be able to suggest a recommendation for our business. We’ve had an OkiData color laser printer that’s lasted over 6 years but it’s been giving us some trouble over the last year and yesterday it stopped printing with an error we can’t resolve. Would have to bring a tech in to fix and we’d basically already decided that once this thing bit the dust we’d move on to something else. It’s time.
We are looking for something in the $200-$400 range, would consider going a little higher if it was clearly worth it. We want something that connects wireless, prints quickly and reliably in Snow Leopard over an Airport Extreme network, decent color print quality is important but doesn’t have to be photo quality (we have an HP Photosmart for that kind of stuff), and it needs to have reasonable printing cost per page. We don’t print a tremendous amount of stuff, but we probably go through 100-200 pages a day and it adds up.
Was looking at the HP OfficeJet Pro 8500 wireless and that looks like a nice unit except half the people who buy one hate it. Looks like HP quality control is lacking and if you get a good unit, great, but the odds are good you’ll get a lousy one.
Also looking at the Brother HL-3070CW, but reviews say it has a high consumable cost.
Basically, the more I look into this the more I head spins and now I've got myself wrapped around the axle and don’t know what to do.
Any suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated.

I would steer clear of the 500 express. Since you seem to be new to cisco products, I would use the opportunity and buy what most of your potential customers already have. Get yourself a pix/asa and a 2900 series switch as first poster suggested. If you are interested in certifications, you will need to learn the command line interface. The 500 express will do you no good as it is all gui. This is only my opinion of course. Oh, and did I see not expensive and cisco in the same sentence. :)

  • Recommendation for maintaining pricing in CRM when R/3 is also in landscape

    Hi,
in out context we have already SAP R/3 in the landscape, all the pricing in done in R/3. lot of custom pricing routines are also written in r/3.
now we in the process of implementing CRM and plan to do Quotations in CRM and replicate in SAP R/3 . what is the recommendation for such a scenario.
do we replicate all pricing conditions/procedures in CRM? do we need to re-do all procedures in IPC?
can we re-determine pricing in R/3 so that we can avoid such work in CRM? we are using configurable products in R/3.
please share your thoughts/best practices and any document will be of help.
    thanks
    RH

    Hi Swaroop,
The Assignment of Buisness Partner classification from CRM to R3 is purely based on Classification
    so your initial Entry
I chose B as classification & Z001 as an account group which is a copy of 0001. System takes it.
    was taken by the system
now when you tried to make another Entry by the same Classification
chose B again & this time Z002 acc gp (copy of 0002), and system does not allow?
it checks for the Existing Classification and so does not allow the same
Delete the Previous Entry and then Try Entering the New Entry
    The System shall Take it
    Hope it Answered your Queries...
    Revert Back for any Doubts..

  • Any recommendations for a recovery software for my lost photos on my external drive?

Would like recommendations for a reputable recovery software for my lost photos from my external drive that I used with my MacBook Pro.

    General File Recovery
If you stop using the drive it's possible to recover deleted files that have not been overwritten by using recovery software such as Data Rescue II, File Salvage or TechTool Pro.  Each of the preceding come on bootable CDs to enable usage without risk of writing more data to the hard drive.  Two free alternatives are Disk Drill and TestDisk.  Look for them and demos at MacUpdate or CNET Downloads.
The longer the hard drive remains in use and data are written to it, the greater the risk your deleted files will be overwritten.
Also visit The XLab FAQs and read the FAQ on Data Recovery.
