Headphones with built-in AirTunes?

Hi all,
Note: I would have done a search first but it seems to be "temporarily" disabled for performance reasons.
I know this really isn't exactly AirPort Express related but I didn't see anywhere else to ask. Is there such a thing as headphones with built-in AirTunes? So far, I can't find such a beast. I am surprised no one has come out with AirTunes headphones. The AirPort Express is nice to connect to my stereo in another room. But, many times, I'd like to have a set of wireless headphones that can receive music and other audio via AirTunes.
Yes, I can use my iPod around the house but I still have a cord going between my iPod and the headphones which can get caught on corners and drawer/cabinet handles. With a set of AirTunes headphones, I can walk around the home listening to audio from my Mac. This could also be handy for folks with Macbooks or Macbook Pros to wirelessly listen to music/audio from the notebook computer.
Any suggestions or thoughts on this would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Steven

This device would need to be recognized by iTunes as a destination for music streaming. AFAIK no such device exists.
You may want to check in the iTunes discussion area to see if they have know of any devices other than an AirPort Express (AX) to which iTunes can stream music.

  • How can I plug in my headphones with a microphone built-in to my macbook pro?

I have some new headphones with a built in mic that I want to use to record commentary and also hear out of for making youtube videos. The headphones plug has 3 rings on it, I'm pretty sure this means 4 conductive sections, 2 for each speaker, 1 for the mic, and 1 for the play/pause button on the mic. these are not apple headphones, they are sony. I dont really know how to split the headphones into both my microphone and headphones jack on my laptop. Can someone please help me out? Thanks.

Easy, go to the preferences (or properties) in iTunes. Go to the advanced tab and check the Prevent iPods.... from syncing automatically.

  • Online conference participants hear echo when cinema display is connected via mini-displayport, even though I am using headphones with mic.

When I use Google Hangout or GoToMeeting, other participants in the meeting hear an echo of their sound -- loud and obtrusive. When I mute, it goes away.
This only happens when I am using my Apple Cinema Display 27" (recent vintage) connected via the mini-displayport (natively, not an adapter).
On my end, i don't hear their echo, but I do hear waves of squelching -- basically it sounds like their end is trying to adjust their input down to account for what it thinks I saying, even though I'm not talking, it's just the echo making that happen.
Sometimes this doesn't occur -- it seems to crop up intermittently, but happens around 75% of the time at some point in a conversation.
I am using iPhone-compatible in-ear earphones with built-in mic; the earphones are the rubber seal type, so there's no sound escaping them that the system should even be able to hear.
I have my audio set up for "Headphones" as output device.
Input device is set up as "External Microphone" -- this part confuses me because even though I know my Cinema Display has a microphone, the OS seems not to list it as a separate input device. So I wonder if it's getting confused trying to use both the cinema display's mic *and* the earphone mic? (see dropdown image)
OS version 10.20.2; Macbook Air 13 inch, "early 2014" and Apple LED Cinema Display 27inch
Earphones are skull-candy brand iPhone compatible (with built-in mic), plugged into the macbook air's earphone jack. (without the display connected, this has always worked fine -- and with a prior non-apple display that had no mic/camera this was not a problem)
This is an ongoing issue in our office, in fact ... especially troublesome in client meetings.
I haven't tried other configurations, other than when using the Cinema Display's USB connector, the same thing happens.
It also happens even when I'm not using the "USB PnP Sound Device" you see listed in the dropdown here -- that's something I use for controlling music output to my desk speakers.
A general question: is there no way to control the cinema display's mic and/or camera more directly?
(EDITED TO ADD: Ok I see in the Cinema Display manual, there should be a listing for "Display Audio" in the input list, but my SysPref panel has none listed. See other screenshot. I wonder if this is the problem??)

Curious, is the 30-inch Cinema Display you have, one listed in this Support Article:
    •Apple Cinema Display (20-, 23-, and 30-inch DVI) - Technical Specifications
or is yours a later build series; which one do you have...? This says Mini unsupported.
The specifications vary across the line of Displays, as do the graphic support in Macs.
I'd suspect your version is a later 30-inch display, but it may be one of these. And a
newer 27-inch Display has the Thunderbolt cable.
    In any event...
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • After-market headphones with hot keys?

So the stock headphones come with the ability to pause music and skip to next track (among other things) via a built-in clicker. I wonder if this means there are other features that can be exposed via after-market headphones.
Since I listen to podcasts and audiobooks, I'd like to be able to quickly go back and forward within the track via a headphone "hot key". Most important is going back say 10 seconds if I miss something due do noises nearby. This is more important on iPhone than on iPod because the touch-interface for ff/rw on long podcast/audiobook tracks is not as good as using the old click-wheel.
I don't expect Apple will add these features to their stock headphones since they like to keep things simple, but if they exposed this capability via the headphone "API" (seems it might already be there), then other vendors could supply headphones with these sorts of hot keys for geeks like me.
Anyone know if these sorts of actions are exposed via headphone jack and if any vendors are planning to add headphones with such capabilities?

Unfortunately htting the esc key does not solve it. Does the 3-button method only work for certain versions and/or platforms? As I mentioned, while holding them down while launching it only pops up the Scratch Disk Preferences.

  • IPad + Headphones with Remote

I bought a pair of headphones with remote on amazon, apple original, new.
I think they are the 3rd gen headphones.
I can't get the remote to work, I don't know if it incompatible but the apple site doesn't specify as far as I can find.
Any help or info is appreciated.

  • 3rd Gen Headphones with Remote + iPad

I bought a pair of the apple headphones with remote online. I think they are the 3rd gen version.
I can't get the remote to work with my iPad
Anyone know if these are incompatible for some reason?

Since other users are having a problem I would say there is either a problem with the iOS or that the headphones are not fully compatible with the iOS. I now of nothing you can really do.

  • Using a different webcam with Intel iMac with built-in isight cam.

Hi...I hope someone can shed some light on this.
I have an intel core duo iMac 20 with built-in isight.
I use Yahoo Messenger (the new version) and have no problems getting my isight to work with it.
For most circumstances, the built-in isight is fine... but sometimes having a camera with a zoom feature and the ability to pan further up or down would be most beneficial.
I also own a usb Logitech (pro-4000) webcam (the last series for which they have Mac support) and have installed the latest Mac drivers for it. I can get the Logitec to run its built-in applications, but when I try to select a webcam to use for Yahoo (in the yahoo preferences webcam section), the only selection available to me is the built-in isight.
Is there any way to get the option to choose between the Logitech and the isight?
Thanks for any help you can give me...

  • Can you get the plan headphones with a remote(like you do when you first buy a smaller gb ipod)? if so how much do they rage and where can you order then?

i've been having a hard time just finding a good/not over 30$ headphones that will go with cause the the headphones i
got are dead and not working no longer and you know parents or anyone these's days that are not willing to go
buy something that isnt rescearched yet! and i even want a good pair but not have to spend 70$ on them and to
know they might stop working in the next month/year or two!!

That's a 3rd gen iPod shuffle, so do not get the new Apple EarPod headphones.  Based on posts I've read here, they do not work with the 3rd gen shuffle.
You can still find the old version of the Apple headphones with remote, at online stores like Amazon.  They are like the one that came with your shuffle, except they usually have a microphone on the remote nub.
Alternately, you can use something like this adapter with remote controls
    http://www.amazon.com/iLuv-iEA15BLK-3rd-Party-Headphone-VoiceOver/dp/B002RL9WDQ
    and connect ANY headphones.

  • I lost one of the earbuds for my Apple In-ear Headphones with Mic. Now what do It do?

I lost one of the earbuds for my Apple In-ear Headphones with Mic.
In case you don't see why this could be a big deal, let me remind you that these little earphones will run you $79 new. Naturally, I'm sure there's got to be a reasonable solution that another owner of these headphones may know of or can share with me.
Should I bring it to the Apple store or will they just laugh at me?
Basically, all I'm missing is the jelly-like in-ear bud on one side (which is easily replaceable; I just need to know where I can order GENUINE extras from).
Click here to see the Apple In-ear Headphones I'm referring to.

I've tried several and the best by far is the Sennheiser MM50 iP ($99 at the apple store). The sound is incredible, particularly the low frequecy response (bass). These are even better than the Bose Triports I used for my iPod, plus they have the mic and button for recieving calls and ipod playback. I also have the airdrives, which don't even compare for sound quality and range because they aren't in-ear (they sit directly in front of the ear canal). I still use the airdrives in situations where I want music distraction but still want to hear what's happening around me, but for in-ear sound quality and iPhone functionality I don't think you're going to find better for the Sennheisers for under $100. In fact I don't think their is anything under $250 right now that would match it for performance, comfort and functionality.
Note: these are asymmetrical which means the cord for the right earbud goes behind your neck to the right ear. I found this strange at first but now I actually like it because it allows you to pull the earlplugs out and just let them rest over your neck/shoulders.

  • Problem with my brand new mp3 player Zen Stone Plus 2GB ( with built in speaker )

    Hi .
I have purchased the following Zen Stone Plus 2GB with built in speaker on 24.06.2008.
From day one, it had a charging problem . Initial charging it'snever go beyond 87%.
After using it for 2 days, at the time of recharging , I found my player won`t get dectected in my PC .
I took the set to the vendor for a checkup . He tried to solve it by resetting , formating etc. But he could only able to to format it's sacrificing its 50% of its allocated space.
My vendor then changed the set with a brand new one, againts that faulty one .
Now the new one worked well for 3 - 4 days , but it is now totally dead .
But the set did not give any indication before it become completely dead.
A few dust particles inside the LCD screen was also observed. I can`t understand how come dust particles can enter inside
a player which is sealed box pack .
Next issue is with the battery which CREATIVE promised of giving a backup of approx 20 hrs of continious playback , which with minimal scuffling and with minimal settings lasted for 0 hrs approx ( 50% less than promised ).
Another thing that i must state is the problem of FM Reception . It is simply terrible . In the same area where my mobile's FM reception is fine , Zen Stone's FM failed to give any reception .
I came to know about Zen Stone Plus from of my friend , who is using Zen Stone Plus GB without any problem for long time.
Pls tell me what to do now, since my player is compleately out of order now , and pls suggest me something regarding the issue of battery backup , FM reception ... etc.
Now i am in a total mess . I just dont know what to do with the set that is few days old .
    Pls help urgently .
Waiting for any valued suggestion .
    Bye ...

  • How does the Apple Headphones with Remote Replacement Program non-return fee work?

I have a pair of Apple In-Ear Headphones with Remote and Mic that I purchased a year ago. According to the "Apple Headphones with Remote Replacement Program", http://www.apple.com/support/headphones/replacementprogram/, these headphones are also covered in the program. Currently, there are some issues with my headphone's remote, as it is extremely unresponsive. I don't know how Apple determines the headphone's purchase date, but their online service request page accepts my iPhone's serial number. Is there any way that i could ensure that Apple's willing to replace the headphones for free (E.g. mailing my current ones in first) because the non-return fee is basically its retail price. I do not live in the US so I can't go and exchange at an Apple Retail Store. Thanks in advance.

I would just bring them into your local Apple Store/Genius Bar and ask.

  • 20" Monitor with (Built-in iSight?)

As soon as Apple updates the 20" monitor with built-in iSight I will be buying one and connecting my Macbook, then retiring my iMac iSight to my wife. Hurry up Apple with the upgrade.
    Now for the technical question:
If Apple indeed adds iSight to it's line of monitors and since all the new computers Apple is building these days already have iSight built-in will my dream configuration work.
I know the external iSight works when connected, however there are minor glitches when shutting down, sleeping....

dig a little deeper next time
D/FW, there nothing to dig for. You're asking for functionality and behaviour of a product that does not exist. You're better off speculating in a rumours forum.

  • USB Webcam on Macbook with built-in Isight?

Has anyone been able to use an external webcam via USB on a Macbook with built-in iSight?
This should be very straight-forward, but it's not working for me. Is it possible? Thanks.

I have an older logitech 3000 and have been able to get it to work with 3rd party software such as macam and btvpro, but can't use it for Yahoo Messenger or similar programs. It won't work with photobooth either.

  • How to have Snow Leopard, Mavericks with built-in recovery, and Windows 7 (Bootcamp) on my iMac (Intel)?

I would like to have Snow Leopard, Mavericks with built-in recovery, and Windows 7 (Bootcamp) on my iMac (Intel).  Is this possible?  If so, how?  Currently, I have Snow Leopard and Windows 7 (Bootcamp) running on my iMac.  I have enough disk space to split my Snow Leopard partition.  I have read that if I split my Snow Leopard partition, clone my Snow Leopard partition to the new partition, and boot to the new partition, that I may have problems with the Maverick's upgrade because it may not be able to create the recovery parition, or that it may erase the Windows partition, or that it may mess up the Windows boot process.

Simplest is to install Mavs on an ext HD, using FW or TB. I don't do windoze, so can't advise about the Boot Camp and multiple volumes issue. Since there's no Boot Camp, I have four volumes running SL through Mavs.
