Heads up to OneBill customers terminating landline service

Question

This is a heads up to anyone with OneBill and are contemplating dropping their landline. Here is the timeline:
6/30/14 Terminate Landline
7/3/14 Bank draft (account on autopay) for landline AND wireless accounts
8/4/14 Bank draft for just wireless accounts
9/8/14 Notification that I'm late on August wireless and assessed a late fee
9/9/14 Start of 16 person conversation over 5 hours to get this resolved.
9/9/14 Setup up autopay on Verizon Wireless account
Bottom Line:  OneBill while internally paying current Verizon Wireless bill, is in fact 30 days behind in billing the customer for that wireless account.  So the 8/4 bank draft was in fact for the June wireless account.  There was no indication of this and I thought we were just getting autopay for the wireless portion.  In the process of trying to resolve this I spoke with the following Verizon (for landline account), Verizon Wireless, Verizon Financial Services, Verizon OneBill, and Verizon Communications.  In mid stream, I was promised by Verizon (landline) that the 8/4 payment would be forwarded to Verizon Wireless, that I would receive and email stating that it had been done, and it would be reflected in the Verizon Account.  It was only when I was finally connected with Verizon Communication that I found someone who could properly explain what was going on.  And then I talked to Verizon Wireless, explained what happened and as a result I'm supposed to be getting the late fee reversed (stay tuned).
What was particularly frustrating about all this was the finger pointing.  I got a particularly snarky supervisor from Verizon Wireless who said because they couldn't look into the landline account, that it was my problem to resolve and that I had to talk to Verizon (landline division).  Whenever I tried the Verizon (landline division) number, typed in my phone # and then my pin, the call would be dropped (happened at least 4 times).  I think this was due to the account being closed.  And the numbers given to my to contact Verizon Financial Services (for instance) would always route me back to Verizon Wireless.  We use paperless billin. Since the landline account was closed, I couldn't log into the account to look at the billing and payment history, which might have explained what was going on. I think someone less persistent than me would have just given up.
In cases such as mine where I really have tried to resolve the issue, there should be a Verizon Customer Advocate who can take my case and resolve it for me, working all the departments required.  I would think that Verizon would be interested in keeping a customer such as we that have spent so much money with them over the years.  Frankly we now have to consider our options when our current wireless contract is up.
I sent a plea for help to the email address for the Verizon CEO but have received no reply.
Moral of the story is to not count on One Bill autopay to keep you current on Verizon Wireless if you drop your landline number.
P.S. After reading other horror stories about OneBill and Verizon service in general, I sure wouldn't want to be in the shoes of a Verizon Service Agent. They need combat pay.
