Headset (inc mic) that works both in OS X Lion and bootcamp Windows 7

Hi,
Is there a headset (inc mic) that works both in OS X Lion and bootcamp Windows 7?
I have a MBP.
//Fredrik

Actually most should work. They're supposed to be Plug-n-Play hardware.
I have an el-cheapo set of Logitech's I bought for the kid a while ago and it works in both. I think Windows 7 had to update a USB driver for it to work but it did it automatically. We have the mic/audio pins hooked to a USB audio dongle. Have no idea what model or brand it is.
The safest way would be to make sure it has a USB connector. I know the USB adapters are pretty cheap, $2 or $3 US if you search around.

  • How to partition my second hard drive in my Macbook to use as data with both Mac Mountain Lion and bootcamp Windows 7

    Hi guys
    So this is my dilemma...
I have a 13" macbook pro, I have just installed a 128GB SSD and am using that as the main boot drive and the bootcamp. I have split that hard drive in half (64gb each), one half is for OS X and the other half for Windows 7, no data is being stored on the SSD.
I have also replaced the Super drive with the original 500GB Sata drive and am wanting to use that as my Data drive. I want to partition that drive as 400GB for OS X data and 100GB Windows 7 Data (windows is only going to be used for work which wont be using too much storage.
Lets call the SSD as the OS drive and the 500GB as the Data drive...
Now i have currently formatted the Data drive in Disk Utility as MSDOS (FAT) so that both OS X and Windows can read data from it. I am not really fussed with the Mac being able to read what is on the Windows partition or vice versa but i do want to be able to store files larger than 4GB.
In the Windows bootcamp i have formatted the data drive partition as NTFS and that seems to work but I now cannot store files in the Mac partiton that are larger than 4GB, how to i get both HFS and NTFS to work on one physical hard drive to remove the 4GB limitation?
I hope i have explained the situation clearly enough.
    Thanks
    Ash

FAT32, what Mac/OS X/Apple calls MSDOS FAT, can only store files smaller then 4GBs in size. That is the limit of FAT32. So all you need to do is format the partition you want to use for the Mac "Mac Extended (journaled)" (If you can on a MBR partition table drive, Not sure) or exFAT.
But be aware that Apple's implementation of exFAT is flawed and Windows may not be able to read a exFAT partition formatted by OS X.
Everytime I have tried to format a drive exFAT on a mac and nthen move it to a Windows computer, that is Win 7 that natively support exFAT, Windows could not read the drive.
    Good Luck

  • Why epson projectors work perfectly in MacOS X Lion and not in Windows 7 with bootcamp?

    Hi,
Irecently bought the new Macbook Air 2011, which came with the Intel Graphics HD3000 video card, as many of you, I was forced to install windows using bootcamp software, everything worked fine, till I tried to connect it to theprojector in office, which is a Epson PowerLite S5+.
Duringthe configuration, which normally is just plug the VGA adapter to the minidisplay port and everything works, this time was different, the projector orthe Macbook air doesn't recognize each other, for same reason. Doing some researchon the internet I've discovered that there are some issues between new Macbook’svideo cards which are Intel Graphics HD and some projector.
Nowthe question is, why the video card driver recognize most of the projectors inMacos x Lion and in windows 7 64 doesn't work?, is there any driver parameterto modify in order to make them work?, when Intel will release a fully operatingdriver for windows 6 64 that work with all projectors?.
Ithank you every one, who help me to solve this incompatibility of software.
Sorryfor my English, but I'm not a native speaker.

I recognize your problems and posted the same question. Very weird. Apple HELP!!

  • Headset with mic not working on Mac Mini

I have a 5 year old Mini and a brand new one (haven't hooked up the new one because I have to take it to the Apple store to get the data migrated, which BTW Apple now charges $99 for, they didn't before)  My problem is getting the mic to work.  I am almost positive the old one does not have a built in mic, does anyone know if the new one has one?  I have a headset with both the earphones and the mic that I cannot get to work.  There are two jacks on the back, one for input one for output.  Neither headset mic is working.  I even bought an adapter with two jacks and tried that, but it doesn't work.  The output works both ways, it is just the mic I can't get to work.  (Rosetta Stone software)  Couldn't get much help from the Apple Tech support line.  Anyone have any ideas?

Ge a headphone/mic combo like used on a phone:

Also, you can get and some headsets (earphones and mic with separate plugs)  cme with an adopter which combines the two plugs into one plug that will work with the Mac and phones.

  • Headset with mic that will answer calls

I would like an "in the ear " type earphone that actually works correctly.  I had a great pair from sony for my apple Itouch with a mic.  I could use it to make calls using skype on WIFI, change the volume and skip tracks etc.  When I tried it on the Droid X it would ahswer the phone with a push of the button but the mic was dead and the other party could not hear me.  I tried a bunch including scullcandy from verizon store and Kliptch.  On these, the mike would work but if you push the button on the mike it would not answer an incoming call or allow my to click the button to place a call using voice dialing.
I saw in an earlier discussion a plantronics headset that will work, but this is an over the ear and only mono.  I want a nice set of earphones with noise isolation and a mic that will allow me to put the phone undercover, like when it is raining, and allow me to press the mic button to answer or place a call.  Does this exist?   I want to be able to hear my phone ring in the earphone when out on my tractor, and then press the button on the mic to answer the phone.   Thanks

I cannot believe that with 175+ people reading this post that no-one has an earphone with a microphone that will answer the phone and work.   How about one of the VZW techs!!!!!
There must be an earphone with a mic that will work on this phone.  If not then Motorola needs to do something about this problem.   Please provide some suggestions.  -Scott

  • An external mic that works with Mac? (without iMic)

Recently I bought a Cyber Acoustics microphone so I could record audio easily and quietly for my upcoming YouTube videos. The only problem is I found out about how mics that need power wont work without the iMic accessory.
So i was wondering, are there any guarenteed products that will work on an iMac for voice recording, without having to buy the iMic accesory? (And i dont want to use the internal mic as I dont want to talk to loudly to record)
Please let me know any products that will work, please see if you can find reasonably priced ones, not ones above $70 please.
    Thanks,
    Smolter

    Greetings,
Most microphones require amplification.  If you don't wish to purchase an amplifier, consider purchasing a microphone that goes direct to USB so amplification is built in:

  • I have to use an application for work that isn't supported in Mt. Lion and my 2008 Macbook doesn't have enough ram for Lion. Should I update ram or get a new computer?

So, it would be a stretch to buy a new computer, but I could if I needed to. The fan on this computer gets a little loud and the computer will sometimes get hot, but it works fine. I don't want to invest in a computer that doesn't have long to live, but I also don't want to buy a new computer when I have a perfectly good one... Suggestions?
    The application is Sookasa.

A loud fan could indicate a hardware issue which could only get worse when tampering with the RAM.
    Backup your data.
What is the application, and version of application?  Perhaps we can find something that works with your operating system?   Go to Apple menu -> About This Mac to tell us your existing operating system.

  • Can somebody recommend a cheap USB webcam that works on 2011 iMac running lion?

I'm a drummer who sometimes posts videos on YouTube. Sometimes I want an overhead shot of the drums and it isn't practical or safe to hang my iMac 21.5" over my head to shoot the video with the built in camera haha! I tried an old microsoft lifecam and a Xbox live cam but neither worked. I want to use moviemaker. Thanks!

I've used a Belkin F5U233 self powered hub with Mt. Lion and Mavericks.

  • Can my iMac that has 3gb of memory run lion and lightroom

Can I run lion and lightroom on my iMac. the computer only sees 3bg of ram

    I sincerely doubt it!
You have a 2006 model iMac that can only handle up to 3 GBs of RAM.
OS X, by itself, needs between 2-4 GBs of RAM to do its stuff smooth, quickly and efficiently.
Every update and iteration of OS X uses more CPU, GPU, RAM and hard drive resources.
You start running a high resource app, like Lightroom, along with OS X and your iMac is going to take a pretty good hit on performance.
It all boils down to not having nearly enough RAM memory for the application and tasks you require.
Here are the Minimum specs for installing OS X 10,7 Lion
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4949
Here are the minimum specs for Adobe Lightroom
    http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop-lightroom/tech-specs.html
You would need at least 6 GBs of RAM to be able to run OS X and Lightroom
Based on your previous post, you must be taking a serious performance hit already running Lightroom or Photoshop.

I'm sorry you're not having a positive experience.  I set up two iPhone 6's from iPhone 5 backup's via Wifi and paired both seamlessly with our 2012 Mercedes cars without an difficulty.
I don't know if this is your first post, but you are not writing Apple on this forum.  This is a user to user forum and you are only writing other users.  If you are not pleased, feel free to contact Apple directly via the link I've supplied.  I hope you get your issues resolved to your satisfaction.  But because you are having issues, does not mean everyone is.  I know lot's of people who now have iPhone 6.  None of them have experienced any issues pairing to their cars Bluetooth system, or setting them up from previous phone backups.

  • Solution that worked for me - Slow to start and shutdown

System: Macbook Pro Late 2011 8GB RAM Seagate Hybrid Drive
Problem: After Upgrade, slow to boot, slow to shut down and, on occasion, would hang at shutdown requiring Hard Shutdown.
Solution:  Cleared PRAM and reset SMC
To "Reload" OS portion back into the 8GB NAND memory of the HDD, restart the system 10 times.

    Base Station Firmware: 7.2
    Airport Utility: 5.2.1
Wireless Radio: 802.11n only (5.0 GHz)
    Channel: Automatic
    Wireless Security: WPA2 Personal
Under 'Disks' File Sharing is enabled with a disk password (as opposed to accounts or base station passwords). Guest Access is not allowed. The rest are the defaults.
Now I've been having interesting problems with USB external drives mounting on my iMac. One never did (but was always successful with FireWire) and a second one was inconsistent. The drive that I have attached to the AEBS at the moment is one that I finally made fully functional with my desktop so I don't know if that is related. I'm going to have to run a number of additional tests.
Note: my wireless is pure .n - not a mixed environment. I also had a speed issues with the iMac (wired ethernet) until I changed it from manual (100BaseT, full duplex for use with my old Belkin) to Automatic and re-enabled IPv6 which is enabled on the AEBS.
