Headset voice: people say it sounds like I'm underwater, any solutions?

I am currently using mainly the speakerphone because my voice on the headset is so muffled and not on the speakerphone.
I have tried another headset and it only works if I press and hold it in (can't do when driving) I imagine it is because the jack is stereo and the headset is mono.
Has anyone else experienced this or solved how to get the ROKR to work with other headsets?
Thanks! Ben

I'm on my 4th ROKR for this very reason. Sound is 'slightly' better when not using the headphone, but still unusuable. I filed a formal trouble report with MOTO. I believe their A/D convertor is faulty in its design. Seems phones are fine so long as there is NO background noise, otherwise the noise cancelling doesn't work well and people cannot understand you.

Help!  People say I sound like I'm in a tin can or empty room when using the iPhone 4S

Have you by any chance covered the little hole at the top of the phone or is there any dirt in it?

  • The callers on the other end say it sounds like im whispering

The callers on the other end say it sounds like im whispering is there any way to turn the voice intake up ??

My Pre speaker has also stopped working, now for the second time.  The first time was within a week of getting the phone & Sprint replaced the phone, now it's happened again.  Sprint wants to replace the phone again, but I really don't want to go through the hassle of re-downloading apps & uploading contacts.
I've gone through the troubleshooting steps & have noticed that it's more than just the phone speaker. Pandora will only play over my stereo headphones or bluetooth headset (speaker phone isn't available?).
It seems like this should be a quick fix, so any ideas would be great!

  • Emailed File of Voice-over sounds Like it's Underwater

    Hi,
My wife just began a voice over career and just got her first gig. She recorded files over GarageBand and emailed them to the client. When we listen to them on her system, they sound great. But after e-mailing, she sounds like she's underwater or muzzled.
Is there a compression setting that we're missing? Hoping someone has some experience with this.
    Thanks so much.
    P Smith

A digital audio file shouldn't change just because you emailed it. Could be the other parties computer settings or player. You should ask them what format and settings they want the file in.
Also instead of emailing files you may want to think about another way of sending audio files. Maybe a ftp server so your clients can download them from the net and files size won't start to become a issue.

  • IMovie 10 - audio sounds like it's underwater

Just upgraded to iMovie 10 from 2011 version (iMovie 10 is not in the product list yet, so I'm posting here in hopes of getting some help). I like most of the new iMovie, but having a terrible time with audio after export. When I go to SHARE > TO DISK or ITUNES, the output file sounds like it's underwater or in t a tin can maybe . Hopfully it's a simple fix that I haven't stumbled on yet, but I'm wondering if anyone else is having this issue and how to fix it. The sound is correct when played in iMovie 10. Thanks, Kevin
My CPU specs if that's helpful:
    - OSX 10.9
    - 2.8 GHz intel Core i7
    - 8 GB 1067 MHz DDR3

I've just discovered this issue, too.  Using m4v file created using handbrake from a DV AVI file.  Audio sounds fine if video is played in VLC, but sound awful in iMovie sounding like there's a strange echo type issue.
    cheers

  • Sounds like I am underwater on calls (iphone4)

Hi, Can anyone help me please- this is driving me mad now!
When I am on a call my phone is more and more frequently making a sound which sounds like crackling / bubbling underwater and I can't hear the person at the other end at all and have to hang up and recall. (they can't hear me either)
The call connects OK and it is after a short while that I have the problem.
I have tried resetting my phone, but nothing seems to be working... I need to have the 3G/wi-fi on at all times as it is a work phone and I have to have cobstant access to my e-mails. Not sure if this could be causing the problem?
I have only had my phone about 7 months (from O2) is it still covered by any sort of warrenty if the problem can't be fixed? (I don't have specific phone insurance, only through my house insurance)
Would really appreciate any ideas.... Thanks

Me too. i'm with O2 also and I've had my phone replaced 3 times, followed all the advice provided by Apple and I still get this issue. Set up as a new phone, NOT restored from backup, changed simcards and not installed apps but it still occurs.
No one seems to be able to provide an answer and this is getting to be more than just an annoyance now. Happens everyday....regardless of whether i'm calling a landline or mobile and from all over the country.
I'm hoping that someone from Apple can provide some answers as i'm starting to lose faith in my iPhone4.
It doesnt make sense to keep replacing the handset...i've been through 4 handsets now and not a single one of them has been mishandled or dropped.
Anyone got any solutions or answers to this problem? Good to know that i'm not the only one!!

  • Iphone 5 sounds like it's underwater on calls

    Hi,
I was lucky enough to receive an iphone 5 for Christmas and have never had an iphone before.  Prior to Christmas, I was on a SIM only contract with O2 on a htc desire.  I never had a problem speaking to anyone, but the phone was old and had little memory.  I still am on SIM only, but needed a new SIM for my iphone.
When I make or receive calls, in the house, or away from it, after a short while, it sounds as if the phone has been dropped into water.  Sometimes after 30seconds, sometimes after 20mins, but definitely on every call.  I can't hear the other person, and they can't hear me.  So as a phone, it is useless.
I have changed it to 2G, taken off the original front and back cover, and the rubber cover I bought, had the handset replaced once by Apple, and the SIM replaced 3 times from 3 different shops on O2.  I have been disconnected from O2 for 24 hours and re-started in an effort to erase the problem and loaded everything into itunes and done a factory reset on the phone, and I still can't make a phone call.....
Please can anyone help me with anymore suggestions?

  • Improve iTalk recorded voice (or:can 8kHz sound like 44kHz?)

I use iTalk on my iPod to record voice memos. The quality is bad compared to other recording devices. The iPod stores voice memos in 8 kHz, 16 bit mono WAV files.
Did anyone experiment with this kind of recording quality? I would like to make it more natural-sounding using GarageBand, like it would have been recorded with 44 kHz.
Maybe some advanced stuff with Apple's Audio Units settings in GarageBand?
    Any suggestions?

You can't really make a bad recording sound good, you can only make a good recording sound better.
The 8K sample rate is missing a lot of data, and so it's just not there to enhance.

  • My microphone sounds like a robot/ underwater to other users.

Hi, whenever I join a call with my friends whether it be audio only or audio + video, my microphone becomes distorted and my friends cannot even make out a word that I am saying. This only occurs in the client version of Skype and when I use the web version, my audio is 100% clear and non-distorted. I have tested my mic on other programs and it is fine too. I have disabled my webcam mic so I know it is not that. I have a HyperX Cloud headset in case that helps solve anything. Thanks!

Skype needs some serious recoding ASAP...

  • IMovie 6 transition sound problem - transposed soundtracks? Any solution?

    Hello,
I can see that this problem has been discussed many times, and I am getting by using some of the suggested "work-arounds", but I was just wondering if there have been any actual solutions to this problem?  I never had this problem before, and I don't exactly know when it started, but it is VERY ANNOYING!  I have iMovie6 and a 2.4 GHz iMac with an Intel Core 2 Duo.  I am still using Leapard, OS version 10.5.8 simply because it seems to work fine, and I haven't needed any of the newer features.  However, if this transition issue would be corrected with an upgrade, I would gladly upgrade!  Has anyone found a solution for this transition sound problem?
    Thanks,
    Lincoln

Like you I find this very annoying .
For me "extracting audio" sometimes results in the audio becomming out of sync with the video, also doing the "update" mentioned above does not fix it for me; I must be doing something wrong?
Having opened iMovie 6 to try "update " fix and failed I started to try a few things.I think I have found a solution that works.
The following sounds complicated, but is not; reading twice is recommended
Most of us apply a string of transitions from left to right i.e. between clip 1 and 2 then between 2 and 3 then 3 and 4 and so on. The audio glitch will occur in say transition 2/3 because there is a transition immediately before it in 1/2 and likewise a glitch in 3/4 because of the transition immediately before in 2/3 .
I find you do not get a transition audio glitch between 2 clips if there is no transition immediately before.
So the simple solution is having sorted all your clips and edited, apply the transitions in reverse direction i.e. from the end of the movie working towards the beginning; transition between clip 39/40 then 38/39, 37/38 and so on down to 2/1.
If you do not want to start at clip 40 for some reason you can say do (assuming you want all clips to have transitions) clips 5 down to 1, then say 15 down to 10, then say 10 down to 5 etc etc.  But you will notice that when you do clip 5/6 in this scenario you already have a transition for 4/5 so you will get an audio glitch for 5/6.
The solution here before doing transition 5/6 is to split video at playhead  somewhere in clip 5 so that there is a break in the transitions but no interuption in the video.
If you are able to apply transitions in one session then working backwards from the end  is the easiest solution and takes no longer than any other method.
If you have to do it in segments still work backwards but spit clip at playhead as above when approaching an already applied transition in order to create a "transition  break".
Alternatively a quick and dirty way might be to split every clip in 2  before applying transitions and apply the transitions anywhere except at the splits. This way you should not have to worry what order or direction you apply them in.
If you try this let me know how you get on.

Could be a problem with the LCD or it's cable, this seems like a hardware fault. I would go to the Apple store before its to late and before you run out of warranty (you get a 1 year warranty) There no way of fixing this without opening the computer which would void the warranty. If you have ran out of warranty i would go on eBay and look for a inverter, the cable or possibly the LCD apple would be able to tell you what it is without you having warranty and try the repair yourself or you could pay Apples overpriced repair.
