Headset with microphone two plugs?

So I bought a headset off amazon and when i got it, I realized that there were two plugs, one for listening and the other one for the microphone. I notice there is only one plug on my macbook pro and that is for listening. Is there anything I can do to use both plugs in order for me to use the microphone?

There's a much better option: buy an inexpensive USB soundcard with input and output ports. Here's one example; there are lots of others:

  • Can I buy a headset with microphone for my 13" MACBOOK PRO?

There is only one hole to plug an earphone, and when i record in my software, and i replay it. it sounds strange. so i'm trying to change a microphone.
is the headset with microphone for A1278 on sale? could somebody give me an sale net address?

Thank you. I know what you mean. Apple can support earpiece and microphone in one plug.
When I ask about this question, my MBP had trouble in Windows XP.
I'm Chinese, and there is a software named DynEd. I was using it to record my voice, that voice changed when I replay. It just like an iPhone app:Talking Prez.
And then I reinstall my windows system. Now I'm using Windows 7, and the question resolved.
Maybe 4GB memory is too big for WinXP x32.
    What do you think?

  • Rosetta Stone headset with microphone

I just purchased Rosetta Stone a month ago and I'm using on my Macbook Air for the first time.  What do I have to do in order to be able to hear on my headset with microphone while using Rosetta Stone program? I can currently speak to the program (it hears me just fine) but I can't hear it through the headset.  I can only hear it externally from the speaker and its very annoying.  I am extremely new to Apple products and I don't have a clue.  Please help!

    Hello & a warm welcome!
    Long shot, but...
Open Audio Midi Setup in Applications>Utilities, see the input & output options & KHz setting there.

  • Internal microphone keeps on changing to external microphone when headset with mic is plugged in

Hey I want to use the built-in microphone on my macbook pro but whenever I plug in a headset with a microphone it changes the internal microphone into external in System Preferences>Sound>Input.
There is no option available to change it back to the built in microphone in the settings above.
I don't mind if I have to use a software as a workaround.
    I have a Macbook Pro 13-inch (mid-2012).

If you can get an adapter that "hides" the mic band on the plug, no switching will occur.
But that will probably imply a trip to the tech shop anyway.
It might be simpler just to use regular headphones or generic ear buds.
I don't know where you live but around here just about every drugstore, convenience store, & even most grocery stores sell inexpensive ear buds & headphones.

  • Having trouble setting up headset with microphone

    Hi,
I own a satellite A135 that is currently running on Windows Vista Home Edition. I tried using a headset with mic but somehow the mic always turns to mute after I've exited the set-up page. I'm starting to get frustrated, particularly since I need to talk with someone using Skype. Please help.
    Thanks

I have this issue, too. Did you find a solution since you first posted?

have tryed multipe brands and nothing. Its possible its a first generation itouch which maybe the problem not sure. I also only seem to get about 4hrs of doing anything on my itouch if under constain use is that normal.

The first generation (1G) iPod does not have bluetooth.
    See:

  • Using Logitech Headsets with Rosetta Stone on Mavericks

Rosetta cannot find the Logitech Headset with microphone. I googled it and there was a fix using the Midi Tool in Utilities, which fixed their problem but not mine.  When I go to Preferences>Sound>Input or Output- I can choose the Logitech Headset and words spoken register on the gauge, but Rosetta does not see it.

This is great!  I've got one follow-on problem to this, though:  My format rate seems to keep snapping back to 16000, and breaking until I go back and fix it again (32000 works fine for me).  Any idea how to twiddle things so that 32000 is the default for my device?

  • I need a USB Headset with Mic to use for Webinar's and Go To Meeting sessions. There looks to be very few options that work with the Mac as they seem to be designed for Windows.  Any suggestions on equipment?

I am looking for a binaural USB headset with microphone to use during Go To Meeting sessions and Webinar's. Seems to be little that works with the iMac and most of the web searches have not been encouraging. Any suggestions on units that work.  I have a new iMac running Snow Leopard 10.6.8.

  • Ipod nano 6th: no voice recorder despite headphones with microphone

    Hi there!
I have got an ipod nano 6th that is working ok, but when I use my headset with microphone, the voice recorder app still does not show up. It can't be the headphones as 1) I have tried several ones with microphones on the nano and none makes the app appear, 2) the very same headphones manage to trigger appearence of voice recorder in other ipods. So it must me my ipod nano. Any ideas, suggestions, experiences? BTW: it used to work in the past on this nano...so no idea why it stopped.
    Thanks!
    Bettina

    Hello Bettina,
I would be concerned too if the Voice Memos app stopped appearing on my iPod nano.  I found some steps I recommend to troubleshoot an issue like this.
First, I recommend verifying that the Voice Memos icon is set to be visible on your iPod nano.  If you go to Settings>General>Home Screen, make sure you see the switch set to On next to Voice Memos. You can find more information about this on page 15 in the iPod nano (6th generation) User Guide.
If you are still not able to see the Voice Memo icon after verifying that, I recommend resetting your iPod nano (from page 52 of the iPod nano User Guide):
    Reset iPod nano:
First, make sure iPod nano is charged. Then press the Sleep/Wake button and the Volume Down button for 6 seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
The final step would be to restore your iPod nano if Voice Memos is still not appearing.  You can find steps to do this on page 56 of the User Guide.
You can find the iPod nano (6th generation) User Guide here:

  • Any Nokia Bluetooth headset with Mute option

    Hello,
I am looking for a Nokia headset with microphone mute option for my conference calls that i attend from my cell phone. I see BH-111 Manual on Nokia website which states it supports this feature.. But wanted to be confirmed before i buy.. Please share your thoughts..

    sampathnk,
    Welcome to Nokia Discussions
Yes, the BH-111 and like any other Nokia Bluetooth headsets supports mute function during active calls.
To Mute or unmute the microphone just press the play/pause button on the device.
You may visit a Nokia Store or an accredited retailer to check out some of the headsets made by Nokia. For more info about store locations please refer to this page at http://www.nokia.com/global/support/locations

  • Microphone headset with MacBook Pro

    Hi,
I recently started playing a game on my Mac that requires a microphone headset to get the most out of playing online. But since there is just one "slot" (I can't remember what it's called) to plug into, and a microphone headset has two plugs, I have a problem. Does anyone know what to do in a situation like this?
    Thank you for your help.

He he. Okay, I should have figured that out myself. It was the only possible solution. *But will it work with any game* that requires a microphone headset?
I don't know. I have not tried every game and you have not told us what game you want it to work with. I don't know why a USB mic/headset would not work. They work well for for me but I'm not a big game player. Maybe someone else will comment.

  • Mac mini not working with logitech h130 headset's microphone

    Hi,
I have a mac mini (late 2014) model that appears to not work with my headset's microphone, my headset is a logitech h130 that works perfectly with all other devices that I have (which are not apple), please fix! ASAP

Assuming that the headset has two 3.5 mm plugs you need one of these to combine the headphone and jack into one 3.5 mm plug

  • Can I use headphones with the two adapter plugs on a Mac Pro

I have headphones with two plugs.  I don't know where to plug them in. There are two portsin the back and before I open this package I need to know if those are the appropriate ports, since they are the only two side by side ports on the tower.  I have another set of headphones that have the two plugs, but upon trying them, there was no sound regardless of how i adjusted things in the 'sound' in system preferences.
Help with this is greatly appreciated.

I'm guessing that the headset has a microphone as well as earphones, yes? If so, there is no microphone input on your Mac Pro, only a line level input. So you can use the headphones portion as is, but the mic will require additional hardware.
The ports will be designated in the user guide for your model of Mac Pro:
    http://support.apple.com/manuals/#macpro
but if you look at the various ports on the back of the MP carefully, you'll find one marked with a tiny "speaker" icon. That's the line-level output to which you can connect some headphones. The other port is a line-level input. If you want to use a microphone, you'll need either a line-level mic or an amplifier device of some sort. Griffin's iMic is a commonly-recommended converter.
    Regards.

  • How do I use a headset with separate headphone and microphone jacks on my macbook air
