Healing Brush? PSE 7

Whenever I use my healing brush an error message pops up and I can't use it. How do I correct this problem? If I need to uninstall and reinstall PSE 7 will I lose all my tags or other items in the system?

Corrupt preferences can cause all sorts of odd behaviour so resetting them is often the first thing to try when you're experiencing issues like this. You won't lose your tags, etc., at worst you'll need to move your palettes around and reset the brightness, if you'd previously altered and saved them.
Start Elements as normal. When you get to the initial options screen, start the Editor but just after you click, press and hold the Ctrl, Alt and Shift keys simultaneously. You will get a dialogue box asking if you want to clear the preferences. Say yes.

Problem with PSE 9 spot healing brush in content aware

When I try to use the spot healing brush to remove an object with content aware, it appears to work, then I get the Windows Error message, and PSE 9 shuts down. I have 2 GB RAM and plenty of scratch disc room. Any one else have this problem?

The problem is obviously a program error. The problem may be resolved by comparing the code to CS5 which we know works without a problem.
So what's the plan Adobe??!!!!!
Is there a solution?? I seem to remember a problem in version 7 or 6 which had to do with P4 Hyper threading and the same processors. One of the biggest reasons for upgrading to PE9 is content aware. Without it working how many sales are lost? With the state of our economy it is much more difficult to justify an additional expense for another computer or Phoroshop CS5!!
Let's fix this!!
A response would be appreciated.

PSE 9 crashes when I use the Spot Healing Brush tool

When I use the Spot Healing Brush tool PSE9 crashs completly. Is it a bug? In the older version 8 I had no problem.
I use WIN XP SP2, Intel Pentium 4, 3 Ghz, GPU: NVIDIA Geforce FX 5700, DirectX 9.0c 4.09.00.0904.
I tried it also on another PC with WIN7 and it caused the same problem.

I know this post doesn't really help you guys, but I'm also using PSE9 on a Win7 Intel Quad Core Dell computer and the spot healing brush works fine. I only offer this post to indicate that it apparently is not a universal bug in PSE9. Perhaps an Adobe expert can jump in here and help. I can only offer that in Preferences I do have the RAM dialed up to 80%, but I don't think this is related to your problem.

Healing Brush Tool causes PSE to close down

After I click the Healing Brush Tool and then click the spot on my picture the entire program closes down. It does not give me an explanation. None of the other tools do this. Help please! THANK YOU!

Elements 8 & 64-bit windows 7--editor shows a bandaid for healing brush; how do I get the circle?

Previous versions of elements would show brush sizes with a circle. Using brackets, you could see the size
increase/decrease. Elements 8 only shows a bandaid for the healing brush, no indication on photo of the brush size. Also, if I set text size to large, some tools show as 3, i.e., 3 hands, 3 bandaids, etc. Anyone else have this problem or know of a solution? I'm using a laptop with Windows 7, 64-bit. Microsoft says the program is compatible.

Make sure that Edit > Preferences > Displays And Cursors > Painting Cursors is set to Normal Brush Tip. If that doesn't help, try deleting the Editor's preferences:

I set text size to large, some tools show as 3
This is a known bug in PSE on Windows 7 -- you have to change the Windows display DPI (text size) to less than 150%.

Spot Healing Brush NOT working...

Has anybody run into this? The spot healing brush is NOT working. I am starting over on a picture I already edited, using this tool a lot (to remove weird reflections, facial flaws, etc. I "reset all tools" to see if that would help and it isn't. I try to use "alt" on the face to set the base, but when I try to actually use the tool, nothing is happening.

I have used PSE 2.0 in the past and have just installed PS Elements 5.0. I have located the Spot Healing Brush which I have read is to be used for small spot fixes. I have found literature alluding to the 'Healing Brush', a different tool used for fixing larger areas of imperfection. Try as I might I cannot locate this tool on PSE 5.0 Is it not there? Can anyone help? Thanks

Photoshop Elements 9 shutting down when using the Spot Healing Brush

Hello! I recently downloaded and
installed the PSE 9 on my PC. Obviously I wanted to check out it's possibil
ities and especially the Spot Healing Brush. The program seems to work fine until I want to use the Spot Healing Brush
As soon as I try to apply something to a picture, I get the message something is wrong with "photoshopeditor.exe" and needs to shut down the program.
That's really annoying and hopefully someone may have the answer and solution why it does this. I run the program on Windows XP (SP3).

Elements keeps freezing when using healing brush - can you help? Running Yosemite

Elements keeps freezing when I try to use healing brush tool. I'm running Yosemite. Tried to download a "plug-in" workaround, but it just comes up blank.
Can you please help?

Healing brush problem

When I want to use "healing brush". I keep getting "encountered and error" and when I say don't send Elements 9 closes down. How do I correct this?

Yep resetting the settings could help. But if it didn't try updating to PSE 9.0.1
From within the pse9 editor go to Help>Update to download and install the 9.01 update.

What is the differences between Clone & Healing Brushes?

Dear Forum,
I am using PSE 5.0. Could someone explain the difference between the Clone tool and the Healing Brush tool? They both seem to require a source pixel area and a destination pixel area. I understand why the Spot Healing Brush is different, but I am at a loss to see why what the difference is with the Clone tool. Thanks in advance.

The clone stamp puts down an exact copy of the sampled material. The healing brush blends it in with the underlying area.

Photoshop CC and 2014 spot healing brush tool causing blue screen on windows 8.1

The problem is when I'm using spot healing brush tool soon as apply it it causing fatal error on my windows. I have all suite up to date.
please advice.

First thing to do is check you have all the latest device drivers for all your devices and all windows 8 updates. Printer drivers, Display Drivers, Network drivers etc. It is not possible for an Application program like Photoshop.exe to cause a Blue Screen. However Applications use devices and device drivers are able to do things application programs can not do.

Photoshop CS5 Spot Healing Brush only blurs

Here's a before and after shot. I recently upgraded from CS3 and the spot healing brush always worked great.
Now when I use it, whether or not I use content aware fill, it leaves a blurred residue of what I was trying to remove.
As an aside, the Content Aware Fill leaves a similar residue, enough to make it effectively unusable.
I have included a sample photo of the spot healing brush problem. Left side is before and right side is after.
I just wanted to get rid of the electrical wall socket. You can see that it's not working. I am running windows 8 in a 64-bit environtment and running the 64-bit version of Photoshop CS5.5
Any assitance anyone is able to afford me is greatly appreciated.

In my opinion, there's nothing wrong with your choice of Spot Healing Brush for this image. I cropped your screenshot to the "BEFORE" image, removed the "BEFORE" type (with the SHB) and scaled to 600% to match your original document.
A dab of a 0% hardness 500 pixel Spot Healing Brush in Ps CS5.1 on OS X 10.6.8 worked perfectly. However, I would have made a vertical stroke with the brush at about 80% hardness and about 200 pixels, which also works for me.
Maybe your SHB is working in "Create Texture" mode despite specifying "Proximity Match" in Options bar. Try resetting the SHB by right-clicking its icon at left of Options bar and picking "Reset Tool" from the menu that appears.
