Health app not recognizing manual inputs

Hi,
I've been using the Health app on my iPhone to track the number of steps I take each day (trying to do a minimum 10,000 per day as recommended by health professionals).
This morning I didn't take my phone with me when walking the dog, so manually entered an estimate of the number steps.  Once I click on OK, it updated the number of steps.
Later this morning, I noticed that the manually added steps are no longer being added to the total steps.  Checked that the data entry point was there and it was.  Deleted the data, and re-added it but made no difference - still not included.  I even turned the iPhone off and back on to see if that would make a difference.
Why is the Health app now acting this way?  I've added manual data in the past and it's been OK.
Buff

Thanks for the feedback.  I'll give the decimal thingy a try, although I'm not sure why that might work (a fraction of a step???).  I'm just trying to find out if others are experiencing this weird issue with the Steps data set.  The manual entries continue to remain in the data set after entry, they just stop being incorporated into the displayed totals/graph.
I also note that it takes a full minute, or so, for all the data in the set to be displayed when you want to edit it.  I discovered this when I saw that my manual entry wasn't being included in the totals graph and wanted to check if my entry was still there.  It was.  So, I then deleted it and re-entered the amount with a different entry time.  That sometime worked and sometime not.  I just didn't want to leave the old non-included entry in the data set, once I got a new entry that worked.
It's nice to know the issue isn't only affecting me.  Maybe Apple will now take a look and see what's the matter.

  • TV not recognizing VGA input

I have this TV hooked up to my Arch machine and whenever I run xrandr the computer sees the output. The problem is, the TV is not recognizing any input so I can't change into VGA. Arch even detects the correct resolution and when I hook up a Debian machine it displays image with no problem.

Look into your TV manual for the supported resolutions
I had a experience a while back with a TV at my wife parents place where xrandr said that 1980x1080 (fullHD) was a supported resolution, but the screen just went blank. When I consulted the manual, I found out that the maximum supported resolution was in fact, 1366×768 (WXVGA), which worked almost perfectly (there was a missing pixel column on the right side, not too much of a trouble).
Short version: Check the TV specs, xrandr sometimes lies.

  • Health app not counting calories - "No Data"

Recently purchased an iPhone 6 and have updated to iOS 8.2. The Health app is counting steps and walking & running distance, but Active Calories and Resting Calories display "No Data". I have entered my weight, height, age and sex. Am I missing something here? Is the Health app not supposed to automatically calculate and record calories burned?

As far as I know, automatic step tracking is only available for iPhone 5S or higher due to M7/M8 motion co-processor.
Edit: Confirmed by an article on 9to5mac.
''Users will find that the M7 is able to pre-populate the Health app with a full week of data.
Adding on-device tracking support to the Health app is a significant addition from Apple as iPhone 5s (and future iPhone) customers will no longer even need to integrate any App Store apps or hardware devices to begin using the software.'

  • Health app not graphing data points.

I have been playing around with the new Health app recently. I do not use any third party apps for Health, but I am running iOS 8.0.2 anyway. So far, I have plotted 4 points on the sleep monitor, for example. I can press Show All Data to see the individual sleep and wake times I inputted, but they are not showing up graphically as the data "Points" that I wanted to add. Instead, the graph (which I added to Dashboard) just says No Data.

I have the identical problem with the Walking/Running Distance App in Health.  If I manually enter that I walked 1.75 miles it is 50/50 whether that shows up on the graph.  This makes the walking distance data useless if one doesn't want to wear the iPhone while walking.

  • HT203037 Health app not retaining Add Steps data

I'm looking forward to using the Apple Watch to track my activity when I get it.  In the meantime, I've been manually entering my step activity in the Health app manually.  Unfortunately, more often than not, even if it seems to initially accept the Add Data entry, after a few hours it usually stops including the manual entry in the total displayed for the day, even though pouring back through the data shows the manual entry is still there.
I've tried deleting the manual entry and re-entering it with a different time to see if that matters, but it generally doesn't help.  It's unreliable enough for me to forego manually adding data entries for my elliptical step data, for now.  Unless someone can explain/sleuth out the logic necessary for the data to be accepted as legitimate and incorporated into the daily step total.
    Any ideas?

  • Iphone "find my phone" app not recognizing my phone as a device

The "find my phone" app will recognize my ipad as a device and locates it properly. However it will not find my phone and is not recognized as a device in the setting section. I've already gone into the settings -> icloud -> find my phone section and turned it on and this did not work. I've also tried going on my ipad to find the phone as well as my PC through icloud.com/find and this did not work either.

  • Apps not recognized by iTunes

    Hello -
I would appreciate any suggestions regarding an apparent issue with my iPod touch 2G. This is in conjunction with iTunes 8.0.1 on a G5 tower, dual core 2.0.
The iPod will download and run apps from the Apps Store without difficulty, and iTunes will download apps, as well. However, iTunes is unable to install apps to the touch -- this generates an error message indicating that the attempted install failed due to "an unknown error (-4)." Likewise, apps on the touch are not backed up to iTunes; there is no "applications" folder associated with the touch as a device under iTunes. I've tried deleting the apps from the touch (after acknowledging a warning message that the apps have not been backed up), deleting them from iTunes and re-downloading, deleting the touch backup in iTunes and forcing a new backup, etc. In essence, it appears that iTunes is unaware that there are apps on the touch, and it's likewise unable to install apps to the device. Apps are set to "sync" in iTunes. I've done everything but restore the touch, which I'm reluctant to do because at this point I'm unsure whether I have an accurate backup, or not (given this behavior).
    Any suggestions appreciated --
    Edward

Try some basic troubleshooting before you restore your iPad.
First close all apps. In order to close apps, you have to drag the app up from the multitasking display. Double tap the home button and you will see apps lined up going left to right across the screen. Swipe to get to the app that you want to close and then swipe "up" on the app preview thumbnail to close it.
Next, reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.
If that didn't help, try this. Reset all settings. You will not lose any data, but most of the device settings will have to be entered in the settings app again. Settings>General>Reset>Reset all Settings.
IF you really feel that you need to restore, and maybe you will have to, try this for help with the device not being seen by iTunes.

  • IPhone 6 Health App not tracking anything

I was hoping 8.1 would fix the Health app, but it's still not working for me.
It doesn't track any steps.  When I restart the app my dashboard is reset to empty and I have to add things back on the Dashboard.
Is anyone else experiencing similar issues?

    nappin,
Mine seems to be working much better now. I find that there is often a lag of up to 15 minutes between the data being taken and the time it shows up in the app.
I one instance, it shows that I climbed a flight of stairs at 10:03, but it was not added to the health app until 10:15. For other data the two times match.
I don't know why your data does not display on the dashboard. Perhaps you can find an answer in some of the other threads on this topic.

  • Health app not showing the curve on graph

hello , my health app stopped the curve progression suddenly i tried to reset my phone and force the app to stop but still the same knowing the the day view show that the data is regIstered.... Any help please...

I take it you have already gone into the Health app and set up your Medical ID card, correct?
The Medical ID card will show up on the Lock Screen password entry screen when Emergency option on the bottom left-hand side of the screen is clicked.
It does not show up anywhere if you do not have a passcode lock on the screen.

  • Health app not measuring walking distance

The health application is working perfectly for step counting, but does not measure correctly the waking distance. The problem began at 11 or 12 of March,I think after the iOS 8.2 update. Before this date it worked absolutely fine.So everyday I have an average of 5.500 steps and of 0.17km

  • Health app not tracking my workouts anymore

I have noticed that endomondo does not share my bike routes anymore. I restarted my phone and reinstalled the endomondo app and allowed it to share to the health app.
But now health app says that endomondo is a source, but does not allow me to choose what would be imported to the health app. It used to work fine, now it does not work at all. Sometimes health app records my steps, that is it. Anyone?

Hi I am using MyFitnessPal and Strava, I have noticed this very same problem, There is another thread looking into this, with a suggestion that a hard reset may correct it. In my experience that didn't work.
From what I can tell the data , ie Steps , flight climbed is still logged and available as I have noticed mine coming and going over the past few days. (almost as things a written to Health App).
I think it is going to require a software update to fix, either Apple or the App causing the problem.

  • Health app not showing heart rate data?

The built-in Health app is not showing data from my heart rate monitor (HRM).
I'm using a bluetooth 4.0 HRM (Wahoo Blue HR) on my iPhone 5S (iOS 8.3) The HRM shows as "Connected" in my Bluetooth settings and shows my heart rate within the Digifit and Wahoo Utility apps, so I know the HRM is working correctly. I've enabled Heart Rate Read/Write data for the Digifit and Nike+ Running apps within the Health app.
The heart rate data never shows up in the Health app's Dashboard (or anywhere else in the Health app). Since it doesn't show up in the Dashboard, the data doesn't flow over to the Nike+ Running app, so my heart rate is blank there too. The Digifit app is set to write the heart rate data in the Health app, but that is not happening.
How can I get the Health app to receive my HRM data?

I take it you have already gone into the Health app and set up your Medical ID card, correct?

  • Health App not working (receiving/retaining/displaying) data.

    Hi,
I am using MyFitnessPal and MapMyRun or Strava to send data to the Health App.
The data was not going to the Health App when I looked.
I found that when I did a hard reset yesterday the data appeared.
It was gone in the morning however.
After trying another hard reset the data has NOT re-appeared.
    Is my data lost?
    Is there a bug here?
    Has anyone else experienced this?
    Thanks.

  • Health app not importing data

I have the Health app connected to UP (for steps and sleep), Withings (for weight, BMI, heart rate) and Lose It! (for calories and other nutritional data). It is importing the steps from UP just fine, but it will not import anything else. It used to import sleep from UP, but that stopped on Oct. 8; it used to import weight, but that stopped on Oct. 22. It never imported anything from Lose It.
I am running the newest iOS and the newest versions of all of these apps (including the new UP 4.0, released today, and others on UP's message boards report their issues have resolved with the update - not mine). All of them appear to be connected to Health - that is, under Sources they are all there and 'turned on,' and each of the individual apps' settings shows them as exporting to Health.
    Anyone have any fixes? Ideas?

    EdHDC,
I'm sorry that I don't have a fix for your issue, but I did want to mention that if you end up in a scenario where you get things working and find that you have data prior to your fix that doesn't automatically get imported in, we have released an app specifically for importing data into HealthKit / Health App.  It requires data in a CSV (comma separated value) format currently, but that is the format that most apps provide for their exported files.
The app is called Health Importer and more information is available on the App Store at:  https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/health-importer/id930943780?ls=1&mt=8
Hope it's a helpful tool for you or others who come across the post!
