Healthy copy of mailbox Database in DAG acting as a seeding source for another Healthy copy Database in DAG

Overview of the architecture
We have Site (Primary & DR)
2 Database copies in primary site and 1 Database on the DR site (Primary site 2 copies one mounted and second healthy & on the DR site one healthy copy of Database)
Recently Due to Network Problem the DR copy got in to the easyncronous state and was removed from the DAG.
As company does not want the downtime we have followed the below steps to Restore Database at DR site.
1)Stopped the backup to Not trucate the log file
2)Took Full backup and in the restore mode we shipped the full backup to the DR site.
3)As the above process needs 2 days, manually copied the some Logs to the DR site (IN some drive as much possible to reduce seed time)
4)Added the mailbox database of the DR site back in the DAG as its seeds from the start, we manually suspend the process post the Database folder hierrachy gets created
5)Added the EDB and logs files in the recently created folders
6)Resumed the Database seed, so only the remaining logs were copied and seeded from primary site to DR site, In some hours DR site databse became healhty with no copy queue and replay queue.
7)trucated the logs which synced using DAG
Now Dag has copies as initial setup but the since we followed the above process the primary site healthy copy is acting as the seed-source and logs not truncating for the database
When restarts the Replication services on the Primary site server with healthy the state becomes healthy but again after some time it becomes seed- source.
Wanted to know when DR site copy is in healthy state why its acting as a seed-source continueously
Need Experts advice in manage Database copies in healthy state...

Hi,
Based on your description, sometimes the content index state of passive database copy in primary site is healthy, but sometimes the state is crawling.
You can use the following command to reseed the catalog only to check result.
Update-MailboxDatabaseCopy -Identity Database -SourceServer EX -CatalogOnly

Excellent information, However, I think the OP said that they wanted to copy a specific users settings. Personally, if the settings only need to be applied once, I would just rename the user profile and change the password and tada the settings are identical.
Seeing that the user hive of the registry contains numerous references to the original folder, your method might create some interesting phenomena. Example:
- Original profile folder: C:\Users\LRenwick
- Renamed profile folder (following your recipe): C:\Users\JDoe
- Data stored in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\GDIPlus: C:\Users\LRenwick\AppData\Local
Renaming the profile folder will not change any of these references in the registry.

Local Cube Filtering / Add SSAS database as a data source for another SSAS project

I need to generate a local cube using a fully processed SSAS database deployed on SSAS server. However, I need to restrict the data downloaded in the local cube while doing this.
I have restricted access to the dimension data by mapping data to UserName/CustomData & using
dynamic role-based security. When I generate a
local cube by executing an AdoMdCommand using xmla structure of this online cube, the .cub file thus created also contains the data that shouldn't be accessible to the user creating the cube.
I am aware of
CREATE GLOBAL CUBE statement, but since it has some limitations such as we cannot have DISTINCT COUNT measures, I cannot use this statement because my online cube contains some important measures that use the DISTINCT COUNT aggregation. Plus, when I include
a dimension with huge amount of data in it, the execution of command times out.
So I am trying out an approach wherein I create a different SSAS project and use the existing SSAS database as a Data Source and then carry out the filtering to output the .cub file using xmla structure of this project database. The problem is, somehow SQL
Server Data Tools 2012 does not recognize another SSAS database as a valid data source.
Could someone please let me know why can't we do this or suggest me any alternative approach to implement this?

According to your description, you are creating a SQL Server Analysis Services project, now what you want is using SAP HANA as the data source, right?
SSAS support many type of data source. However, as you can see on the link below, SAP HANA data source was not listed on that link. So this type of data source is not supported in current version of SSAS. Microsoft will update that document when it is supported.

8229 isn´t present on any of the both Mailboxservers.
The affected Database is active on Location2-Exc1-Mb1 Server and in an overall healthy state. I found during my research, that below Location2-Exc1-Mb1 Server, there are not removed shadow copies present!
This confuses me, since all Backups are normally taken from the passive copy of a Database.
So my questions to the board are:
* Does anyone is facing similar issues?
* Can someone explain why snapshots are present on the Mailboxserver hosting the Active Database, whilst the errors are logged on the passive one?
-          * Does someone know the conditions, why shadows copies remain and
aren´t removed in a proper manner?
What can cause the circumstance, that only 1 DB is facing such issues?
Any suggestion is welcome!

Hi Lenora,
I´ve encreases VSS / Exchange Backup Log levels to expert, before starting
those things i´ve all tried now:
- Backup from passive DB (forced within Symantec Backup Exec)
- Backup from active DB (forced within Symantec Backup Exec)
- Backup from passive DB without GRT enabled (forced within Symantec Backup Exec)
- Backup from active DB without GRT enabled(forced within Symantec Backup Exec)
All those attempts failed.
But brought some more details - the backup against the active DB states, that there is still a backup in progress and therefore this backup is cancelled by VSS.
The Solution was, that i´ve needed to restart the Exchange Replication Service on the Mailbox Server hosting the passive DB.
Backups are working again on all DBs!

Copying report file from one server to another requires refresh database?

Hi,
I am using Crystal Reports 11 for development.
We have a number of crystal reports that are served on a web server running classic ASP that uses these reports with Embedded Crystal Server XI installed on the server.
When I am developing or modifying a .rpt file (report) I connect to a UAT/development database on a dedicated development server.
When I am happy with the report and testing is successful I copy and paste the report onto the production server, replacing the old report.
The problem is I don't have a user account and password on the production server. Our DBAs are the only one with passwords on the prod servers. If an application needs a password entered they come to my desk and enter it for me.
The problem is in order for the modified report to work on the production, I have to call up a DBA to "verify the database" for me by connecting to production server and entering username and password.
This is really annoying.
Why can't I just disconnect\log off server in crystal reports, then copy and paste the .rpt file to prod server and be done with it?
If I had dozens of reports to change, it seems very rigid that I have to ask a DBA to enter the user account and password used by the application to run the report.
Can someone please explain how to be able to copy and paste modified reports/ or new reports from one server to another without having this problem.

Moving to the Legacy SDK forum.
Crystal can be magical sometimes but if you don't tell CR where the database is how is it to know you moved it?
As you have seen and for security reasons you can't simply "drop" a report on any server and expect it to just connect to a new DB server without being asked to enter in credentials or that you have changed the DB server to report off of.... If it's too much work for the DBA to set log on info then he should give you access to so can.

I have this problem too, but my Inbox is empty. There are 125 emails waiting on the server, including one i just sent from another address.

I have now accessed the KB article above. None of the recommended actions made a difference. I deleted about half the 130 emails awaiting download from web-mail, but still got the same error. I can't clean out the inbox because I can't download emails yo it :-( I have 3 other addresses operating under the same server satisfactorily.

Passive server database still failed and suspended after seeding

I have a 2 exchange 2013 servers in windows 2012 OS both servers are configured with DAG one is active and the other one is passive
I moved the 5 databases in other drive and it was successful but no matter what I try one of my database in passive server show "ContentIndexState: FailedandSuspended"
I tried to manually copy the database file from the active server to passive server but still the status is the same. Tried to reseed the database and wait for at least 1 day to change the status from FailedandSuspended
to healthy but still no changes happened.
I tried to delete the afftected database in passive server and copy the healthy database from active to passive again and do the reseed procedure but still the problem is the same. Please help. Thank you!

Now, you have active database in E:\ disk on active server and passive database in C:\ disk on passive disk, is it right?
We need to note that the relative location of the passive copy of the database is identical to the location of the active copy. In your case, you need to check if the relative location of the passive copy of the database is identical to the location of the
active copy.
If the path is different, you need to re-add database copy to check result.
Otherwise, you can check the following article to see if this can help you.

We have been getting intermittent SCOM alarms for our Exchange 2010 MBX server citing "Indexing backlog reached a critical limit of 48 hours or the number of items in the retry queue is greater than 10000 for one or more databases"
I see events in EventViewer that SCOM is triggering on, but not whats generating the events or how else to test for them.

So we are entirely new to Apple products. I'm an IT guy, but have always been a windows user.
So the Ipad with Retina Display is to be mine (and will use it at work for notes, organization, etc)
The MINI is for the wife.
But, are we allowed and can we.. buy an app and share that app between both devices? IE. Can I buy a copy of Angry Birds for the House and both Ipad's use that single purchase? and if so, can we still run the Ipads seperate other than to share the apps purchased. IE my facebook and email set up on mine and hers on her ipad mini?
When I finally find a note taking app I like, can I share it on her ipad, without her having all my work files, etc?

There are a number of Apple services: iMessage, FaceTime, iCloud, Game center, Find My iPad, etc.
Now, to share apps, music and books you need to have the same Apple ID:
iPad's Settings > iTunes & App Stores > Apple ID > Your purchasing Apple ID.
For the other service, your wife should have her own Apple ID.

I tried hard reset on my iPhone. I tried restarting laptop and iPhone. I tried a different laptop. I tried removing driver and reinstalling from Device Manager but did not find a driver other than "Apple Mobile Device USB Driver" under "Universal Serial Bus controllers" which I heard shouldn't be uninstalled.
Anything I haven't tried?

Are you seeing your music listed in the iPod screen, or in Win explorer as in your earlier post?
I can see all the songs in my Edrive>al's Ipod> Ipod Control> Music folder.
A corrupted iPod database, will report zero music used, and have your music size reported as others, so you wont see the music in the iPod screen. Sorry, I thought there was some hope for you with iPodAccess, in recovery of the corrupted iPod database with your ratings.
You can try to borrow and use the Mac Disk Utility ->First Aid ->Repair.
Of course, if your iPod Hardisk is in a bad state, from the Disk Diagnostic report, then all my suggestion are futile.

From the documentation.
The source database and auxiliary instances must use the same SYSDBA password, which means that both instances must have password files. You can
create the password file with a single password so you can start the auxiliary instance and enable the source database to connect to it.Check all prereqs for the standby db duplicate here.

Originally I thought by copying items to library I would be making an exact copy of my originals and that would serve as a duplicate or backup copy. My originals are on my EHD#1 and my iPhoto library is on my EHD#2. But now I realize that I can not view my iPhoto library unless my EHD#2 is connected to my computer (duh!!) So now I would like to NOT copy times to library and I want to have the library in the Pictures folder on my laptop HD. So I guess my question is do I have to start completely over? Is there some way to salvage all the work I've done so far?

Yes you would have to start over from scratch.
But you should really think this through very carefully. Experienced users do not recommend iPhoto used in this mode, and with very good reasons. Among them
1. It's more work for exactly no gain
2. It's unreliable - especially - when the library is on one volume and the photos are on another. One change to the path between the files and the library and you'll be reconnecting every photo in the Library back to the database, one by one.

I don't know what Apex is!!! But try to follow these instructions.
It works for Oracle 9i.
As far as I know, you are supposed to have installed other than ORACLE Client to complete these instructions.
1. Control Panel / Administrative Tools / Data Sources (ODBC)
Folder: System DSN /
click add
Choose : Microsoft Access Driver
Data Source Name : my_test
Description : any_description_you_want
click Database/Select... : full pathname for <your_file.mdb>
click OK
Click OK
2. Goto OH\hs\admin:
2.1) Create a copy of "inithsodbc.ora" file giving it this name:
initmy_test.ora
2.2) Edit "initmy_test.ora" and change as below.
# HS init parameters
HS_FDS_CONNECT_INFO = my_test
HS_FDS_TRACE_LEVEL = OFF
3. Add this entry to listener ( Don't forget to stop/start the listener )

SFLIGHT is NOT defined for the current logical database.

I have just started learning ABAP and bought an ABAP Objects book by Horst Keller. I have installed 4.6d mini sap and SAP GUI 6.4 on win XP Prof. I executed S_FLIGHT_MODEL_DATA_GENERATOR to load DB tables.
(1). When I tried to check a sample program, I get an error message SFLIGHT is not defined for the current logical database.
Here is the partial code:

Symptom
The Graphical Layout Editor of the Screen Painter either does not start or terminates.Error message 37527 is displayed in the session in which the call was made (Graphical Layout Editor not available.

Cause and prerequisites
This note comprises all the common causes for error message 37527 and provides you with information on how to systematically trouble shoot the problem.
1. Windows32 or UNIX/motif?
As of Release 4.6B there is only the program version for 32bit Windows (NT, 95, 98, 2000 ff.).Up to Release 4.6A there was also a version for UNIX/Motif.All of the more current notes (with the exception of Note 45490) refer only to the Windows version.
2. Termination at the start or during use?
The following diagnostic steps refer to the causes of the errors which prevent the Graphical Layout Editor from starting. However, there are also known error causes, which result in the program terminating when the application is being used and which also produce the 37527 error message. This affects -

3. Is the SAPGUI installation correct?
The Graphical Layout Editor is automatically installed during the standard installation of the SAPGUI.If you chose a non-standard installation, then you should have explicitely selected its installation (component "Development Tools - Graphical Screen Painter").
The program executable is called gneux.exe.During the SAPGUI installation it is placed in the same directory as the SAPGUI programms (for example, front.exe) (usually C:\Program Files\SAPpc\sapgui). The following belong to the program:
- An additonal executable gnetx.exe (RFC starter program)
- the DLL eumfcdll.dll
- various eusp* data files (that is, the names all begin with eusp.)
You can check the completeness of the program installation by starting the program gneux.exe locally in the SAPGUI directory (for example, by double-clicking on the program name in the Explorer window).The Layout Editor is displayed with German texts and an empty drawing area for the pseudo screen EUSPDYND 0000.
If the installation is not complete, an error dialog box provides information regarding the cause of the error, for example, sometimes the DLL eumfcdll.dll is missing after reinstalling the SAPGUI. For example, the eumfcdll.dll DLL was sometimes missing after the SAPGUI was reinstalled.
4. System link defined and okay?
The Graphical Layout Editor is a separate program which is started by the Screen Painter Transaction (SE51) on the Frontend machine.
Up to Release 3.0F, the programs communicated with each other via the graphics log of the SAPGUIs (gmux).The definition of the environment variable SAPGRAPH may be the cause for the program not being being found where it is.
As of Release 3.1 G, the programs use a separate RFC link which is set up in addition to the SAPGUI's RFC link.Missing or incorrect definitions of the RFC destination EU_SCRP_WN32 or problems with the creation of the RFC link are the most frequent causes for error message 37527 being displayed.Below you can find the correct settings for the RFC destination EU_SCRP_WN32 (under "Solution").Note 101971 lists all the possible causes for problems with the RFC link set-up. Attention:The Graphical Layout Editor may not be operated through a firewall (for example between the SAP and the customer system) because this does not allow an additional RFC connection in addition to the SAPGUI.
Solution
ad 1 UNIX/Motif
Note 45490 describes possible errors resulting from an incorrect program installation under UNIX/Motif (up to Release 4.6A).
ad 2 Termination when using
The above-mentioned notes may contain options for solving individual problems.However, you usually have to replace the program with an corrected version.You can do this either by downloading a patch from sapservX or by installing a more current SAPGUI.The patch is mentioned in the respective note.
ad 3 Installation
You either need to reinstall the SAPGUI or manually copy the missing file into the SAPGUI directory.In both cases you should make sure beforehand that a Graphical Layout Editor is no longer running.To do this you can either remove all processes gneux.exe from the process list by using a tool such as Task Manager (on WindowsNT) or exit the Graphical Layout Editor from the Screen Painter Transaction menu via Edit -> Cancel Graphical Screen Painter). Attention:For each session or system an individial Layout Editor process may exist so that, if need be, several processes should be cancelled.
ad 4 System link
Up to Release 3.0F:you can either delete the environment variable SAPGRAPH or copy all the files of the Graphical Layout Editor into the directory which is specified by SAPGRAPH.
As of Release 3.1G:you can use Transaction SM59 to check the RFC destination EU_SCRP_WN32 (expand the TCP/IP connections, select destination EU_SCRP_WN32).If the destination is missing, then you should create it with the following settings:
- Connection type "T" (start of an external program via ...)
- Activation type "Start"
- Start on "Front-end workstation"
- Front-end workstation program "gnetx.exe" (caution! NOT gneux.exe)
- Description (optional) "Graph. Screen Painter (Windows32)
Start Program gneux.exe using the gnetx.exe starter program."
If you want to start the program from a different directory than the SAPGUI standard directory, then replace the default value under Frontend work station by the complete path name for program gnetx.exe.Transaction SM59 also allows you to check the RFC connection via the pushbutton "Test connection").In this case the system attempts to localize and start the program gnetx.exe.If there are errors, a message is displayed regarding the possible causes (for example, gateway problem, timeout problem or the like).Note 101971 provides a detailed explanation of the problems involved with an RFC connection set-up.As the Graphical Screen Painter requires a functional RFC connection as of Release 3.1G, contact the System Administrator or create an message on the topic Middleware (BC-MID-RFC) if you encounter RFC problems.
If the program gnetx.exe can be found and started, the banner dialog box with logo, release data and version number is displayed briefly.As the Layout Editor itself is not started, the error cause must be in the installation of the Layout Editor program gneux.exe if the connection test was successful.
Release 4.5A to 4.6B: Use with Releases <3.1G>.
The Graphical Layout Editor is downward-compatible as regards the system connection, that is, an RFC-based Layout Editor for example from Release 4.6C can also be used on a non-RFC-based Screen Painter, for example of Release 3.0F.However, the releases mentioned above have a program error which causes a crash due to memory violation in the start phase of the program.Note 197328 describes the solution by installation of the corrected program version.
Important: Trace file dev_euspNNN!
If none of the diagnosis steps leads to the cause of the error and to the solution of the problem via the corresponding note, then you should add the contents of the trace files dev_euspNNN (NNN = process number) to the message for SAP, if possible.You can find this file in the current directory of the SAP System, for example under Windows NT in C:\Winnt\Profiles\<user>\SAPworkdir.If several such trace files can be found there, make sure that you use the file which matches the termination time with respect to date and time of creation.In most cases the ERROR message in the last lines of this trace file provides an important note on the cause of the error.

Reason and Prerequisites
This is generally caused by the fact that the RFC connection between the frontend graphics layout editor and the calling screen painter program at the backend cannot be set up.
Possibility 1: Route permission denied
In the trace file dev_eusp<Process Id> of the graphics layout editor you find the entry "ERROR in RFCMgr_accept: not accepted", and in the RFC trace file dev_rfc.trc you have an entry of the form "ERROR route permission denied (<Front-Id> to <BackId>,<Service>)".
If there is a firewall between frontend computer and application
server, you need to decide whether the port for the RFC of the graphical layout editor can be released here (see Solution 1 below).
In case no firewall exists between the frontend computer and the application server, in its route permission table, the SAProuter contains either no entry for the frontend computer, on which the graphics layout editor is started, or the entry says that the link is saved by a password.Since the connection is denied, the graphics editor processes exits again, and the screen painter switches to the alphanumeric layout editor.
Possibility 2: Service 'sapgw<ServiceId>' unknown
In the trace file dev_eusp<ProzessId> of the graphics layout editor you have the entry "ERROR in RFCMgr_accept: not accepted", and in the RFC trace file dev_rfc.trc you have an entry of the form "ERROR service 'sapgw<ServiceId>' unknown".
The service sapgw<ServiceId> (for example, sapgw00) is not known on one of the computers participating in the RFC communication because the corresponding entry is missing in its service file. The affected computer can be the frontend computer or the gateway computer.
Possibility 3: The system parameter gw/cpic_timeout value is too low
This system parameter determines how many seconds the gateway is waiting for the RFC connection to be set up.In case of a high network load, the default value of 20 seconds is too small with the result that the connection cannot be created on time.Here the graphics layout editor process also exits with the trace file entry "ERROR in RFCMgr_accept: not accepted".
Possibility 4: System parameter abap/no_sapgui_rfc set
The profile parameter abap/no_sapgui_rfc of the system is set (that is, it has a value not equal to space or 0).This prevents the program of the graphics layout editor from being started with RFC at the frontend.
Possibility 5: Unnecessary authorization check
The error message "No RFC authorization for user xxxxxx" is generated although the check of the RFC authorization was deactivated by profile parameter auth/rfc_authority_check (value = space or 0). The problem is caused by a program error, that ignores the value of the profile parameter let during the call of the RFC authorization check (see Note 93254). This error can occur as of Release 4.5.
Solution
ad 1) If a Firewall is installed between frontend computer and the application server, you need to decide whether the port for the RFC link of the graphical layout editor shall be released in the firewall. This is port 33nn, where nn is the 2-digit system number of the SAP application server. As of Release 3.1G, the graphical layout editor needs an RFC link for communication with the application server in addition to the already existing linkof the SAP GUIs. Such a second link is not allowed by the firewall in general because it would contradict the security concept (password protection, logging of the connection).
If no firewall exists, you should check whether the frontend computer can be added to the route permission table or whether the password option can be removed from out of the available entry.

ad 2) Include service sapgw<ServiceId> in the service file.
Refer to Note 52959 for details.
ad 3) Increase value for system parameter gw/cpic_timeout. 60 seconds should be sufficent as a timeout limit.
ad 4) Set the system parameter abap/no_sapgui_rfc to space or 0
Start the application server so that the new parameter value comes into effect.
ad 5) Import the Support Package specified in the attachment for the release in question or implement the advance correction in the source code as described in the attached correction instructions.
As a workaround, assign RFC authorizations as described in Note 93254.
