Heard any good asm/nasm tutorials lately?

i'm taking a programming languages class with a great professor but my first assembler program (currently working on) is with function pointers and calling C/C++ functions from assembler.  i feel like i've missed out on learning the "dumb" stuff, and for once was wondering if anyone knew a good, comprehensive assembler tutorial that touches on the silly little stuff i might have overlooked, specifically using nasm (what my later courses will also use). i've tried searching myself, but the best i could come up with is learning assembler for linux after already being experienced in assembler w/ dos (useless for me).
if not anything online, any good suggestions for books?

  • Any Good FREE FCP Video Tutorials Like LiveTypeCentral Do For LT ?

Recently my attention was drawn to some very good FREE video tutorials provided by LiveTypeCentral:-
    http://www.livetypecentral.com/cgi-bin/livetypecentral.cgi/tutorials.html
I was wondering if there are any similar free ones covering FCE/FCP or the other FCS apps?
I don't need them of course ....... they are just for friends! (If you believe that you'll believe anything).
Incidentally I have done a search and had a look at the Creative Cow ones, but they tend to be on somewhat random esoteric subjects.
I am looking for something that starts with the basics of the apps.
Message was edited by: Ian R. Brown

Sorry, I didn't make it clear.
I mainly wanted freely available tutorials that I could direct others to on the FCE and other forums. Frequently newcomers don't know where to start, and I don't have time to write a new manual, so it is very efficacious to be able to point them to a site with free tutorials.
That LiveType source I quoted is excellent. So now, basically all I am looking for is a similar one for Soundtrack and FCE/FCP.
The first one you linked is probably fine except for the download time which would probably have taken several hours per tutorial, which is going to put off many newcomers looking for a quick-fix.
I must admit I also like looking at tutorials (I never used to!) because every one of them has a different angle and it's surprising what you can pick up, that you have missed in others.

  • Any good workflow tutorials out there for those moving from iPhoto Aperture

Any good workflow tutorials out there for those moving from iPhoto to Aperture 3?
Especially those that deal with using a laptop and off-line storage of photos.
    Cheers, Andrew.

There is no reason to not port a number from another provider (unless leaving a contract early and being charged the ETF) for if one does decide to switch back to their previous provider within the first 30 days after making the switch, the previous provider will take one back with welcome arms and the same phone number can be used this way.
Your way required getting a new phone number which can't be changed or potted after the fact for single line account.

  • Are there any good tutorials on how to do digital paintings?

I have some drawings of mine that I wanted to turn into digital paintings. I can't find any good tutorials on YouTube. This is an example of something I would like to learn:

    These are my favourite
    http://www.ctrlpaint.com/
Digital Tutors has some good stuff
    http://www.digitaltutors.com/11/index.php?gclid=CNaF38q14MMCFQpwvAodMJwAbg
But you need to register an account for both of them.  Lots of titles out there if you look though.
The Bert Monroy titles on Lynda.com are also very good, but a slightly different style.  More illustration that digital painting.  Take a look at his huge Times Square graphic to see what he does.  Zoom way way in to see the incredibly detail
    Times Square
Loads of of tips and tricks in Steve Caplin's 'How to Cheat in Photoshop', and even better '100% Photoshop'.
Good luck and have fun.  By far the most enjoyable way to use Photoshop in my opinion.

  • Any good Match em up game tutorials?

Hello guys, I was just wondering if any of you know of any
good tutorials or .fla downloads so I can implement a 'match em up'
game, where, for example, the user can match a picture up with its
    shaddow?
    Thanks in advance...

Another good one to try would be Return to Castle Wolfenstein. It's a little older, so the specs aren't as demanding. But it's still a lot of fun.

  • Can Anyone Recommend Any Good Tutorials For A Beginner?

    Hi,
I just purchased Pro Logic 9 and was wondering if anyone knows of any good lessons/tutorials to help a first time user of the Pro Logic series. Im excited to get into this program and record but it is so powerful that it is a bit overwhelming. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

    I agree with JG99.
    +1 macprovideo
I've seen both the lynda and macprovideo logic training. Don't get me wrong the Logic training at lynda is ok for the basics. The macprovideo ones are excellent and go much further. So I could learn in depth how all the instruments, like the EXS24 sampler, Ultrabeat drum machine, synths and plugins work and how to use them. There are proper whole tutorials dedicated to mixing and mastering. For me and my studio buddies macprovideo for final cut, logic and now the photoshop titles has saved us countless hours and a lot of hair!
    http://www.macprovideo.com/tutorials/logic-application
The macprovideo iPad and iPhone apps rock too!

  • Trying to learn flash...  Any good methods?

I'm trying to teach myself Flash and ActionScript inside and
    out. I already
know Fireworks and Dreamweaver like the back of my hand so
    now it's time for
Flash. I figure that to get good it will take me atleast a
    year but I have
all the time in the world so that's fine. Anyways I was
    wondering if anyone
knows of any sites that might offer video training tutorials?
    Also are
there any other sites that are good for Flash Tutorials? I
    did a search for
it on Google but honestly there are SO many tutorial sites
    that it's hard to
decide which one would be a good one that covers alot of
    subjects. Anyways
    any help is much appreciated!

Really like the ones listed by Klaus Dewald. Also really
    recommend the help files.
Don't use the search function in the help files. (But do use
it in these forums!) Use the ActionScript Dictionary or the AS 2.0
Language Reference (whatever it is called in your version of Flash)
to go directly to the different classes you need.
Classes or types of things you can use – some of the
most popular are MovieClip, Button, array, and TextField. Within
each of those classes are listed properties, methods, and events.
Properties usually can be related to physical or realworld
properties. So in the MovieClip class you will find things like _x,
_y, _visible,and so forth. In the array class you might use the
length. Often properties start with an underscore, but not always.
    Also they are usually nouns.
Methods are things can can be done. So in the MovieClip class
you might see the gotoAndStop() or createEmptyMovieClip() method.
They are usually verbs or sometimes a verb and a noun put together.
This is to show their active-do-somethingness. They will always
have parenthesis after them. Sometimes there will be arguments
inside of them. The help files will tell you which kind of
arguments are required and which are optional.
Events are things that happen. Again with the MovieClip class
(really the central idea that Flash is built around) you might see
the onRelease or onEnterFrame. Usually they have a preposition and
a noun. They are implemented with an "event handler" – some
code that happens whenever the event occurs.
The help files are organized by all the classes and give the
properties, methods, and events for each class. With very few
exceptions everything that can be done with a given class is
explained in the help files. And almost every entry (at least since
    Flash 7) includes sample code.
I really recommend browsing through the help files, picking a
class you don't know much about, and making some little test file
to help yourself learn how to use that class.
The other piece of advice I can give is to break things up in
your head. People often post here with questions like "How do I
load an external graphic using XML?" Well if you check out the XML
class you will see that it has nothing to do with loading external
graphics – for that you want the MovieClipLoader class. So
first learn how to load some XML nodes and then use that
information to pass off the name of a graphic to an instance of the
    MovieClipLoader.
A subtle distinction, but it helps if you learn how to use
each class independent of each other. They say it is hard to
remember that you started out to drain the swamp when you are up to
    your *** in alligators.

  • Recommend any good flash books...

    Hi,
I want to learn how to connect flash CS3 to databases/dynamic
information etc....Can anyone recommend any good books. I just
bought Flash and PHP Bible but don't think much of it (it keeps
referring to a companion website that doesn't exist - the book only
came out this month). I want to learn how to connect databases with
flash, get dynamic content and things like that. Have any of you
guys used such a book that you thought was great?
    Cheers...
    Ben.

There are a lot of good online tutorials and such. If you
    really want to do
it right, learn to use AMFPHP, a remoting gateway for PHP.
    It'll make your
life much easier if you do any fair amount of database work
    with Flash. I
still use LoadVars for simple forms and such, but for
    anything bigger I use
    AMFPHP / remoting.

  • Any good books on Aperture 3?

Any good tutorial or guide books for Aperture 3. I'd love to see a Scott Kelby-esque book on the software to work with.

Some are mentioned in this Luminous Landscape thread:
    http://luminous-landscape.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=41963
I have found the following resources useful:
. The Ap3 manual in PDF form. Download, keep it open in Preview, annotate freely. Also on-line: http://documentation.apple.com/en/aperture/usermanual/index.html#chapter=16%26se ction=13%26tasks=true
. The "Exploring Aperture" PDF, which contains some tutorials based on the sample library which ships with the Ap3 installation disk. http://support.apple.com/manuals/#aperture
. The Apple video tutorials. Disappointedly lightweight, but still worth one run-through. http://www.apple.com/aperture/how-to/#video-quickpreview
. There are some video tutorials sold here: http://shop.maccreate.com/collections/aperture-videos . Ellen Anon does a good job. The tutorial of Bricks is thorough. The one on Histogram is not. I found the Q&A webinar not worth the time it took to watch. The same Web site has a series of hints (free) -- there are worth paging through.
. Other than the manual (900 pages) none of those are books. The Apple Pro Training book should be out next month (April 12). It seems to be the one to buy (trainers at my local Apple store are waiting for it). http://www.peachpit.com/store/product.aspx?isbn=0321647440

  • 1920 Intermediate codec - 1920 mp4 .... any good freeware software?

Are there any good free programs that will convert 1920x1080 intermediate codec straight across to 1920 mpeg4 without loss of quality?
I've heard that iMovie '08 doesn't actually export at full 1080i but upscales somehow. Also, there doesn't seem to be a way to actually export the EVENT as such (the full size, 40GB/hour icod/mov files). Whenever you select SHARE > export using quicktime it always is exporting the project and not the event. But the projects are much smaller files. I want to work directly with the original event files and transfer those over to mpeg4 for use and viewing on a PC.
    Thanks

Not sure, but you can try MPEGStreamclip. Have a look at the website to see if this will do what you want:

  • Premiere/Encore User Manuals Any Good?

I've just upgraded from Premiere Elements to Pro CS3 and was wondering if the User Guides included in the box are any good for learning or if I should just shelf them for reference later? If the latter, any book recommendations for learning Pr CS3 and/or Encore CS3?
Note: I'll be taking the 30 day free access to lynda.com as my registration bonus and I already know about the wiki. I just want something that I can browse through while offline that's actually good for learning.
    Thanks.

You will find links to many free tutorials in the
Premiere Pro Wiki that will quickly
show you how things are done in PPro.
