Hearing Samples

I'm having a problem because I am working with the Sample Editor. I've edited the sample down to what I want to use, but when I place it on a track I don't hear anything. I place it on the instrument that says drag and drop samples kit. I can hear it in the editor, but I can't hear it when it's in the arrange track. Somebody help me please.

The arrange track has to be an AUDIO track, if oyu are wanting to playback audio.

Cannot hear samples of some mp3 tracks on Tesco Digital website

When I log onto www.tescoentertainment.com/store I'm having problems with hearing samples of the mp3 tracks. I can hear some of them mostly older tracks, but the newer ones don't always play. I wrote to Tesco and they said it was a problem with Firefox and that it wasn't compatible with their website.

The internal speakers started working after uninstalling the sound drivers and restarted the machine, after which the system reinstalled the High Definition Audio Device driver, which was hitherto being used for the Headset speakers.
Today, the external speakers (the ones used by the headset) stopped working. Both the internal and external speakers
have the same High Definition Audio Device driver. Both are showing "device is working properly", but when the headset is plugged into the two jacks (in and out), the sound does not come from the headset earpiece, but from the internal speakers (ie the loudspeakers).
Any solution for this ?
My wife's machine has been having a similar, though not identical problem, since the last couple of weeks. In her
case, when the headset is plugged in, there is no sound at all, neither from the headset speakers, nor from the internal speakers.
Just to eliminate the possibility of the headsets malfunctioning, I tried using another headset, but with the same
results as above.
All these audio problems started a couple of weeks ago, after a Windows overnight update, as detailed in my opening
post under this thread.

Can't hear sample of songs in the itunes store

Hi, my problem is that I can't hear or play sample of songs in the itunes stores. Please help me!

If you have an old version of iTunes, you can go to edit, preferences, and click load complete preview before playing.
If you have a current version, nothing works. They removed this option. I've contacted iTunes support many times over this issue. Maybe if enough of us complain, the issue will be addressed.

When hearing sample songs they stop and start again.

When I try to listen to songs I may want to buy, the song starts and stops....why? Never happened till apple replaced my old ipad2 with this new one!

If the effect isn't keyable, try keyframing the transparency of the copy with the effects on it.

Midi Guitar Loops

This might be a very old topic, in which case my apologies. I have all the Apple guitar loops, but want to expand my GarageBand library - particularly of midi loops because they are so much more adaptable. Ideally I would like to hear samples online and buy them on CD rather than as downloads because I use more than one Mac.
Can anyone suggest a good source please?

How do I download Kazaa so it will work on my imac

Delete it. Kazaa doesn't run on a Mac. Plus, you are liable to get people telling to you "stop stealing music".
I don't want you to steal music and get in trouble either. But I do want you to avoid paying outrageous prices. Use iTunes to find the music you want. You can even hear samples. Usually you can buy an entire album for less than $10. If that is too much, you can often buy used CDs on Amazon for cheaper. Your local used CD store will be cheaper still.

How to get audio clips to play at site but not actually download?

Would like person to be able to listen only to audio clips but not to be able to download clip to add to their iTunes library. In other words, am selling an audio product, and while I'd like people to be able to hear samples at my site (built with iweb), I don't want them to retain clip. Any suggestions on how to accomplish this would be much appreciated!

Stopping people from downloading anything that's published to the internet is virtually impossible.
I would recommend that you first edit your files so that you only have about a one minute clip online....

Dragging you files onto the iWeb page is not the best way to present them as a large percentage of PC users won't be able to play them. The Wordpress standalone flash player is still about the best way to play audio and you have to know how to get into the source code to be able to download the files....

Cymbal swells?

I'm forever looking for a collection of cymbal 'swells' 'crescendos and diminuendos' ... mallets or soft mallets. I've built a small group of individual audio files, which I use in filmmaking. But I came across a drum kit somewhere in Logic, that had three or four cymbal 'swells' built in ... but for the life of me can't find it again, now that I could actually use it.
Anyone remember out there?
Or that would know of some third party patches I could get to go with Logic ... a collection of cymbal swells?

I'm going back to getting-the-score-done. So easy to get distracted looking for the perfect solution (while not getting the job done). I was once asked to do some music for a TV commerical, in Nicaragua. They didn't have anything to actually do music with, no recording studio, no musicians, no money. They'd been waiting for weeks, trying to figure out how to do music for their commercial. They had a two track tape machine. I found a broken guitar, a whole bunch of oddball things lying around their house to do 'effects' with, we went to work and an hour later had an incredibly funny soundtrack to go with their commercial - made from junk lying around. Their sponsor loved it so much he commisioned them to do a whole series.
I'd forgotten about that. Now here I am with Logic and Omnisphere and RMX and libraries of sounds and plug-ins. And I'm stalling, looking for cymbal swells. What I need is a 2 track tape machine and a broken guitar.

CLI/MPD Player + iPod

Now I haven't used any of these: currently I've just been sticking to RhythmBox, since amarok is bloat and doesn't even seem to work right.
I'm looking for a cli player (prefferably MPD) that will let me listen to my iPod Classic while it's charging. The problem I'm assuming it will have is I will go to the directory and it will look like this:
And I'll be searching through tons of folders with random files...
So I was just asking if any of these CLI players have support to work like Amarok & RhythmBox.

Help! If you know/have M-Audio hardware

Sorry to bother you all with a question aimed at the MAudio people, but while they answer I´m taking my chances with all you experts out there....
I just bought the Firewire Solo which I have connected to my new iMac Intel Core Duo. I also bought the DX4 monitors, connected to the Firewire Solo via the balanced outputs. I downloaded and installed driver FW OSX 1.7.2. Everything worked fine in the beginning.
Wishing to hear/sample CDS, I plugged my Pioneer CDJ 200 DJ CD player into the s/pdif digital IN, since the CD player has a digital out plug. I did this using a single standard RCA cable.
Since then, I´ve been having all sorts of problems. Sometimes I loose all sound whatsoever, and this morning I noticed that when I switched off the CD player, both red clip lights on the FS lit up, loosing all sopund once more.
My mac has also been acting erratically, giving me warnings to restart my machine whenever I have tried to open Garaband, and also Garageband hanging up all the time.
Any takers?

In case this becomes useful to anyone, I am posting the very good reply I received from MAudio regarding my issues...
First In order to sync two audio devices together, you must use a single 75 ohm coaxial SPDIF cable ( not a RCA cable) from the master devices SPDIF output to the slave devices SPDIF input.
Then under the Hardware Settings tab, make sure the sample rates are the same for both devices. Under Masterclock, the master device should be set to Internal Xtal, and the slave device should be set to SPDIF in.
Unfortunately 10.4.7 is not currently supported. This M-audio devices is officially supported on Mac OS X 10.4.2, 10.4.3, 10.4.4, 10.4.5, and 10.4.6. We are working as quickly as possible to update our drivers for the just released 10.4.7 version, please check back for an update. We apologize for the inconvenience.
However some users have workaround this issue by uninstalling the M-Audio driver software and reinstalling with the latest 10.4.6 version from our website, and then repair your disk permissions (see below).
Try this and let us know if you are still having problems.
UNINSTALLING
To uninstall the old driver, you should simply use the Uninstaller which was provided with the original driver download. If you can’t find the Uninstaller, you can use the one included with the latest driver version when you download it.
You can get the latest driver for your M-Audio device from here:

Once you have downloaded the disk image, double-click to expand and mount it.
Look for the Uninstaller in the driver package and double-click it to run it.
REINSTALLING
After uninstalling your old M-Audio drivers, double-click the driver Installer to install the new version.

REPAIR DISK PERMISSIONS
After uninstalling and reinstalling the driver, repair your disk permissions to keep everything working properly.
On your OS X system drive, go in the Applications>Utilities folder and double-click the Disk Utility. Select your system boot volume on the left (the named drive), and then click the First Aid tab on the right and click the button on that page that says Repair Disk Permissions.
This will take a few minutes, it is a general maintenance routine for the OS, very important to ensure the proper functioning of MIDI and audio.
Try changing the Fire Wire cable. Make sure you are NOT using a Fire Wire hub and disconnect any other Fire Wire devices
If it still does not work, try to get another FireWire device recognized by your computer to determine if your FireWire ports are working properly and try to install the FireWire audio device on another computer.
If you have a fire wire external hard drive there is a known issue with a number of FireWire drives, apparently they fight with certain other devices for control of the FireWire bus and this can cause specific problems with audio. We are currently working with other manufacturers on a fix for this; in the meantime, you can work around this problem by connecting the fire wire audio device directly to the computer and connecting the FireWire drive to the additional FireWire port on the back of the fire wire audio device, this should work fine.
If this is not possible and you want to return your device to M-Audio for testing, please send us your mailing address and contact phone number via email and we will send the rest of the information you need for the return.

Setting my ringback tone back to the original factory ringback tone

I've tried searching in my account how to change my ringback tone back to the original ringback tone, but I cannot find how to do this. My account doesn't even show me what song I currently have set as my ringback tone. I just want the original ringback tone from the factory settings. Does anyone know how to do this? Step by step instructions please. Thanks!

Hi mekrall. Depends if its for the "General" ringtone for all calls (or "Default" tone) or a custom ringtone for an individual Contact.
For "General" ringtones go to "Settings" on your Device then "Sounds" then "Ringtone" and under that a checkmark will indicate your current ringtone. You can then choose from the list what you want for your new/original ringtone. To hear samples of the ringtones touch the choice and it will play. Touch it again to stop. A checkmark will appear next to your newly selected choice.
If its to change a "custom" ringtone for an individual contact(s), open your "Contacts" app, go to the contact(s) you want to change and, after opening the contact(s) select "ringtone" for that contact and change to what you want it to be, then click "Save" in the top-right corner of the screen.

Frustrated!!! Music Store Error 9813

I can open the music store and even hear samples, but when I try to buy a song I get the infamous error message -9813. I have checked my network settings, keychain access and everything else I could find in all the threads I've read for the past two hours.
It's been a few months since I've purchased music so I don't know when this started.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Unable to hear sound when playing Music Sampler from website

Hi
I am unable to hear any sound when trying to listen to music samples on Amazon (for example) and also other websites. I have enabled Firewall to all the internet player, which does launch and start playing but there is no sound.
The volume is definately up on the speakers and I have tested Windows Media Player and it plays radio and other music on my pc perfectly well. So I am unsure as to why I cannot hear the music samples from websites now (I have done in the past).

Did you check if the Wave volume control in the Sound and audio devices was set to higher level???
This control is responsible for the sound volume of any music files.

I can no longer hear my phone "ringing" since latest update. Same ringtone sample in iTunes south louder than it actually play once bought. I am missing calls due to poor volume

My iPhone 4S with latest os no longer "rings" loud enough to hear of phone in holster or pocket. I am missing all my calls. Are there any fixes?

Ah yes school boy error there out of frustration and discontent..
My issue is with music/apps/films etc not downloading from iTunes / App Store.
They initially fail and message is displayed stating unable to download / purchase at this time, yet if I retry it says I've already purchased (?) or alternatively I go to the purchased section and there they are waiting with the cloud symbol..
However some items get frozen in the download window and cannot be retried or deleted. Message appears stating to tap to retry, but even if you stole every bath and sink in the uk you'd still not have enough taps.
I post here as the iTunes guys are useless in there 'help' and have only advised posting here or phoning apple, at my expense, to explain a problem that could be rectified by forwarding my original email to a techie. However the tech team apparently don't have an email address as they're from ye olde Middle Ages..!
Anyways I digress.
So I tried sync to pc, but instead of showing the file as ready to listen/use/view, the iCloud symbol shows and I'm back to square one as the item is unable to download..
At frustration station waiting for a train from pain...
All my software is up to date, and had all worked fine prior to the last big iOS update that resulted in all the changes in display and dismay.
